    title in price?

    • -2

It's hard to remember everything everywhere all at once, but thank you for your constructive feedback

      • +1

I see you discovered the preview button

        • +2

Yeah but it just previews the text, not the whole post

          • +6

@Kanjus: I've often thought that system should flag the listing before posting eg.

            If {title} includes "$xx.xx"
            Then [post deal]
Else print "don't forget to include the price idiot"

Would save a lot of reports to the mods that's for sure.

            • @Muzeeb: It already does that. You can enter the following as a title for a new deal and see:

              Samsung A53 5G 128GB Black/Blue Afterpay @Binglee eBay

Please correct the following problems where possible:
              No price information found

              • @hamza23: So people that post with no price just aren't reading everything properly. That makes sense. Cheers.

      • i love that movie

    • I see what you did there.

is anyone aware of any hidden fees afterpay might have that they have spotted anywhere or is it pretty much a free process if you just pay the whole amount within a day

    • +2

Been using for years myself. Always auto pay so never been charged a late fee.

      • +1

so is the only type of fee that can happen a late fee?

        • Maybe a dishonour fee??

        • +1

          According to AfterPay:

If a payment is not processed on or before the due date, late fees will apply – initial $10 late fee, and a further $7 if the payment remains unpaid 7 days after the due date.

For each order below $40, a maximum of one $10 late fee may be applied per order. For each order of $40 or above, the total of the late fees that may be applied are capped at 25% of the original order value or $68, whichever is less

So yeah you can definitely incur additional fees but it's unlikely given that they automatically pull from your account - just make sure you're not short and you should be fine

  • Better than my S10+?

    • +1

      No

      • +1

        ok Thanks

    • better than my S10E?

      • +1

        Yes

    • Much better battery life than the S10+ from tests published online. Otherwise this is the A series of phones which are quite a bit lower specced than the S series, even with the S10+ being 3 models old. I have an S10+ and battery life stinks. There again I don't suppose that me being a 70yo bloke who basically uses a phone only for calls and to check emails and a few websites while at the GP waiting to go in really needs an S series phone.

    • Did you even read the post?

  • just broke my mi 9t.. seems like this is a good upgrade option. how does this compare to some of the phones (including chinese imports) on the market right now for <$600?

    • +2

Sorry for your loss. $600 is a lot to pay for chinese imports imho. No warranty. I would go with this or A73.

      • +1

that's very true, i suppose the upper end of that price range moreso includes local phones:)

  • +2

Been running the A73 now for about 6 months or so.. It's not a bad handset. It's not slow. The camera is pretty crap even though it says 108mpixel but it will do for general use. The A53 is just the little brother or the A73.

    • Good to know. Apparently the A74 has been canned

      • +1

The a53 processor (exynos 1280) is slower than the a73 (snapdragon 778g)
Get the a73 if possible however this is an all time low for a a53 I believe

        • Yeah the A73 isn't a bad choice if your on a budget and can't afford the S series flagship models.

      • Don't say that, I have been holding out for the 74 this month. I need/want flat screen, micro sd, big battery, snapdragon (hate exynos terrible chips) and dual sim. It was going to be my savior!

Need to order through work and they only get them from Telstra. I don't like the current iPhones, Pixel or S series due to above requirements. No I can't just get top tier and sell it, work 'lease' it to us and need to hand it back.

        • Maybe there'll be an s23 fe? But unlikely external storage

    • Do you reckon the A53 would please a 16yo who is upgrading from a (busted) Oppo A52, currently using an iPhone 7 while she waits for her birthday?

      • +6

This is a phone for someone to hold out until their birthday when they get a better one? Gee whiz.

        • +3

          First world problems

          • +2

@tharlow: It’s the iPhone 7, which is also not in good shape, that she is using till she gets a working phone. I would not spend three figures on a “temporary” phone for a teenager.

        • +2

That’s not what I said. Her old phone is busted, and is several years old so not worth repairing, and she’s temporarily using her dad’s old iPhone 7 - which has a shattered screen. I’m planning to get her a phone for her birthday.

          • @elanda: ohhhhh currently using the iphone 7 while she waits, not upgrading to an a53 while she waits. I see what you mean. To be fair the grammar could indicate either way. Well anyway I had an a53 and loved it. Yeah slightly slow compared to fast phones but I never felt it so to speak. And its a bit smaller than the A73 which I liked.

      • if you meant as a long term phone for her to give for her birthday and not a temporary phone, then it would be fine for a 16yr old as long as she isn't the type desperate for the latest iphone

        • +1

Yes, long term, to replace her broken Oppo and the iPhone 7 (with shattered screen … the only iPhone she’s ever had) that she’s currently using to tide her over. Thanks.

      • +2

The phone is perfectly fine, its one of Samsung's enterprise models so it gets monthly updates.

Its not the fastest and the camera is not the best, but it will handle day to day just fine. Good battery, a bit of water proofing, you can't really go wrong.

        • Thanks for the feedback!

      • Kids tend to be into iphones. I would actually look at buying a refurb iphone SE 2020 from reebelo.

  • How's this compared to Motorola G82 for similar price?

    • if you dont mind a terrible haptics motor and terrible update history g82 definitely the way to go.

      • and terrible camera

        • With Gcam it's MUCH better. but I understand not everyone wants to fiddle around

    • +1

g82 cheaper at JB HiFi. but yeah, updates are far and few in between but my g31 has been a beast withstanding a lot of physical punishment.

    • +1

pros for g82: dual sim or sdcard support, physical fp sensor, headphone jack, cleaner version on android (nothing beats moto display imo), great battery life.

cons: terrible haptics, poor software support. i have never cared about haptics on a phone till i used the g82

i aint a photos guy so cant comment on camera

      • terrible haptics

        Can you expand upon this?

  • Could not see from the listing description if it is dual sim or single sim?

    • +1

Unlikely dual sim as Aus stock, and no esim

  • I have an aging P30 that i wanna upgrade from, been a great phone but shiddy camera quality. Would this be a worthy upgrade or keep waiting?

    • If camera important to you then no, otherwise yes

  • +6

i have the a73 and my parents both have a a53 each, can say it's definitely worth getting the a73 if you don't mind the bigger screen as the a73 is a lot faster

    • +1

Because A73 has snapdragon and A53 has exynos which is behind the snapdragon.

  • +3

Slow phone. Phone slow. It's okay…but…

I do not recommend. Much better phones avaialble for similar money.

The biggest issue is the slow SOC, not the 6gb of ram.

    • +1

What would you recommend for this price?

      • G82 moto

Whatever you can get in a similar price range with a decent SOC.

        • Not according to the comments above?

          • @Kanjus: I have both this samsung and the g82… there's nothing wrong with the moto and definitely no worse camera wise, IMO.

No hepatic issues nor software issues for me…. FWIW.

Maybe the guy above should use his entitlement to a warranty repair/replacement.

            • @Oofy Doofy: The G82 lacks IP67 and Gorilla glass, doesn't it? I'm buying a phone for someone else and I'm thinking that might be worth more than the performance.

              • @Diji: Buy a flip case? Depends if you want/need a high IP rated device.

Most of the time the device will be getting used to do things… SOC power matters.

                • @Oofy Doofy: It's replacing a phone that suffered water damage, hence my concern. :P

                  • @Diji: A rare event unless you're taking it into risky locations, aka the toilet…

Or just can't bear to not have one's phone on hand, even in the pool.

Might as well buy a rugged china phone for a couple 💯

    • Its not the soc, it's the Samsung slow one UI interface. If this phone ran stock android, it would fly. So i guess yeah don't buy Samsung's with non flagship or upper mid range SoCs.

      • No, it's the SOC.

Reviews show this to be an issue.

I literally use the phone. For single app super basic stuff, it's fine. Once you start multi-tasking, its game over.

  • Coming from a galaxy S10E or galaxy S6 would you recommend this or the A23 5G?

    • Nah. Stick to a53/a54. A23 is budget level and your s10e will likely still be faster.

  • Good price when it comes with warranty. Got this recently from marketplace for $400 due to influx of new/sealed Samsung handsets thanks to Samsung deal they had for the last 2-3 months. This would drive down the marketplace prices even more if they still are around for sale.

  • Just went to buy one after waiting for SP cashback and both sold out :(
