Lowest price ever I think. The 870 Evo is a few years old now but still the traditional SSD to beat.

Great for that old laptop upgrade or if you need more PC drive space but your M.2 slots are filled.

Edit: 4tb at $443.03 is also an historic low price according to camels

Hmmm yes can confrim thease are a beast for durablity, i have come across some with 290TB lifetime wriges and abotber 40TB lifetime writes both over 83% health and no failed sectors or bad sectors still strong! . im waiting for a 4TB to drop real low and ill be grabbing another evan over a nvme jsut from the history of durability

Good point, well reasoned. This is the price of the ever-falling M.2 ssd's. I want sata ssd mass-storage of the 4/8TB sizes to come down in price and yes, these are very reliable!

      • Agreed!, ive found the 870 evo, thd m.2 970 evo plus. And the WD blue/black too be the most reliabke SSD storage over many years to come

It's best not to make such a claim on 870 Evo for the time being:

Samsung 870 EVO - Beware, certain batches prone to failure!

While Samsung SSDs have good reputation in general, certain models have known issues and higher failure rate than usual. There are many batches of common models in circulation (with different components). 870 EVO came out to compete with MX500's higher endurance TBW figures (Samsung refused to change 860 EVO's TBW to match, decided to release 870 EVO).

970 Evo Plus is not as clear cut either. The older batch has technically a better NAND (faster sustained write), but the newer batch has a better controller and performs better (other than inferior sustained write though the more aggressive SLC cache often compensates the difference).

For now, if you get a Samsung SSD, upgrade the SSD firmware immediately.

@netsurfer: Er… the MX500 has lower TBW spec than the Samsungs (700), also the 860 and the 870 have the same spec (1200).

@Mostly Fanless: You are correct, I got mixed up with 850 Evo.

There are multiple batches of 870 Evo and certainly hope the latest firmware corrects the issues with some of the batches. 870 Evo being the highest performing SSD generally doesn't have any significant discount.

          • @netsurfer: I got hit by a failing 870 purchased in mid 2021. Had one of the affected serial numbers. Luckly Samsung AU replaced it with a new one but so annoying and time consuming.

This 860 Evo 4TB for $313.20 is a deal I am kicking myself for not buying.
The way hard drive prices are dropping maybe will see something as good soon enough.

    • Geeez that was a good deal. The votes show a lot of people agreed too lol. I'm gonna wait like i usually do

  • Actually camels is saying that the 4tb at $443.03 is also the historical lowest Amazon price.

    • +2

yeh i think the $313 price was due to cashbacks

  • there is 2TB PNY NVME SSDS for ~$120, so this is not a deal

That's a great deal, but no good if you don't have an available NVME slot.

    • imo you can't really say this isn't a deal by comparing it to a different brand/tech.

still.. good to know about the alternatives out there so thank you.

Just got mine but it's 1TB according to the factory seals.

Barcoded sticker says 2TB.. but obviously a mislabel so gonna return it.

just in time for the $200 deal.
