Google Pixel 7 Pro 128GB $1049/ 256GB $1199/ 512GB $1349 + Delivery ($0 C&C/in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

420

Been on the lookout for a cheaper deal. Seen this pop up. Not as cheap as it has been before, but afaik the cheapest from a well known Aussie retailer for brand new stock. Just ordered one.

256GB is $1199 - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/google-pixel-7-pro-5g-256…

512GB is $1349 - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/google-pixel-7-pro-5g-512…

Officeworks is likely to price match and drop by $1 or so very quickly, keep an eye on their website, I will update this here if they do.

Looks like whole range of Pixel 7 and 7 Pro are on sale

Pixels always seem to be on sale

      • Different were the days when the OG Pixel launched with Telstra at the end of 2016 :P

$1079 for the regular and $1269 for the XL.

  • Not too shabby. I paid $1,139 for the 256GB at launch. If you enjoy taking photos, this is the phone for you.

I haven't compared the 2 yet, but I thought the Samsung S23 Ultra was considered to have better camera than the Pixel 7 Pro?

      • The s23 would highly likely be a better camera but for twice the price that's expected. The P7pro takes terrific photos for it's price

        • +1

If you get a deal like this then the S23U is a no brainer.

I have both the s23U and the pixel 7 pro. Pros and cons for both cameras, the pixel is better for taking pictures of people and moving objects in general whereas the Samsungs shutter lag is quite annoying for this purpose.

Samsung beats out the pixel in longer range pictures but it's a personal preference thing tbh

      • +3

If you enjoy saturated photos then the S23U is the way to go. Alternatively, take true-to-life photos with the P7P and saturate them yourself with the P7P's terrific photo tweaking app. Either way, you'll get great pictures from both.

        • Or take 200mp RAW photos with the S22U and edit in lightroom.

@Spendmore: Seems like a lot of effort for Instagram photos

            • @[Deactivated]: Tell that to the influencers raking in the millions each week

              • @Spendmore: I would but I don't know any

        • How has your Pixel 7 Pro ownership been? Any issues with connectivity, heating, reliability etc?
I've heard of so many issues with the Pixel 7 lineup, when I tried the base 7 in-store it was already a buggy and stuttering mess.
Both using the same processor and UFS 3.1 storage so it all comes down to thermal management (which has been poor with Google phones).
I have zero faults with the S23U 512GB purchased for $1.4k and I'm now looking to purchase base S23's for the parents.

@Handymancan: No hardware performance issues like overheating and no connectivity concerns or stuttering. The Tensor G2 chip and 12GB RAM keep it sprightly. There are definitely some quirky bugs in the software but oddly that has become an endearing Pixel trait. The 5000mah battery is ordinary. In all honesty, I wouldn't recommend this phone if taking photos isn't your main priority in a smartphone.

            • @[Deactivated]: Agreed quirky bugs is a good way to put it. Nothing that stops you from using the phone.

              • @DealioMcBargain:

Nothing that stops you from using the phone.

Does dropping calls 2secs after picking up count?

                • @BTMoustachio: Nothing I've experienced so I can't speak to that. Ymmv

                  • @DealioMcBargain: Was pretty disappointing for a new phone, almost returned it. Since turning off wifi calling, clear call and applying a system update, issue seems to be resolved.

Still a ridiculous bug for a high end phone.

          • +1

@Handymancan: The issues with pixel 6 and 7 were totally fake news. I've had my pixel 6 for over a year and it has been flawless. Crisp and reliable. Plus vanilla android. Who could ask for more

Cheaper than retail everywhere else mate, not sure why this deserves a downvote?

If you have Google One (2TB) subscription, you'll also get 10% back in credit.

      • Can you tell me how this works? I have the 2TB plan and nothing about the Google Store appears in my "benefits" and I can't really find anything official about it online either.

    • You should be able to use the 5% student voucher. Not tested but it worked last time and brought it down to 984

The modem in the Pixel 6 Pro was problematic, in low signal areas I could not get connectivity. Pixel 7 Pro has a newer modem and no issues in the same areas.

      Found an article about it.

      • -2

Was this a widespread problem affecting every single unit? Because that would be considered a recall.

        • +2

I think you would just describe it as an underperforming/older Samsung modem in the phone, compared to competitor phones with Qualcomm modems. Whether you would notice it much or not, would depend on the person/area. If you were in the cbd with full signal then I don't think it would matter.

For me it felt even worse than that, as I could no longer data connectivity in places (mainly particular shops in suburbs, where signal wasn't great), where my older 4a 5G worked just fine (which was used by a family member). So even older Qualcomm modems were better.

          Edit: Analysis here

          • @hamza23: I see, thanks for the info!

Anyone tried getting it through Telstra for the bonus Pixel watch (https://promo-rewards.com/grewards/en-AU) and then use Telstra's 7 day price match (https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/price-match) against this deal from JB?

    • +1

Hmmn, worth a shot, but I doubt they'd honour this with a bonus deal.
But this site isnt called OzBargain for nothing!

    • Keen to know if anyone manages this

  • If you already have an older pixel phone is it as straight forward as removing the Sim putting it in the new phone and entering you google account details? Would the Sim auto supply the Telstra network details?

    • Yes of course
