Beware - Samsung au are absolutely useless, dont expect to get your phone for at least 3 weeks and if you contact customer support they will give you the same generic response each time. If you dont belive me look at the product review page for samsung online Australia. Good phone though if you dont mind the wait and zero communication :)

    • I'm starting the timer: ordered a 256Gb S23 on Thursday night. Got a tax invoice so I know they've taken my money but no indication of when it's being delivered.

  • Do I still get to keep trade in bonus if I do not return the phone? Last I was aware, it was a penalty of $60 and kept the bonus

    • +5

Yes, that's correct. If you don't intend on returning the phone however I'd recommend making it so your trade in value is $1 (by stating defects), as they will only charge a $30 late return fee instead of $60.

      • Thank you for the tip, did not know that as JB had a minimum requirement I think

      • Say the trade in bonus is $300. Does that mean you get to keep the $300 discount and only pay a $60 late fee?

        • Correct. Samsung has never charged for the bonus amount when the device isn't sent in. Only the late return fee is charged. But as I said previously, if you don't plan to send in your device it's best to get a trade in value of $1 by stating your phone has defects as they will only charge a $30 late return fee instead of $60.

          • @Charlieeee: what's the rationale behind this

          • @Charlieeee: Wrong, now Asurion charges the equal value of your trade in phone as a security deposit straight at checkout. So if you don't to send your phone in then it is recommended make your phone value 1$. If you don't send the phone back, they won't refund the security deposit and charge a late fee of 60$ as well.

  • Trying to buy and only both $50 newsletter voucher and $100 voucher provided by Samsung not working because trade in is selected.
Has it worked for anyone else?

    • You have to add the newsletter code before you add the trade-in.

  • Does anyone happen to have a 10% loyalty voucher they could spare? I tried chat and they were persistent in there was no coupons at the moment.

    • +3

Can only get 10% loyalty voucher by emailing [email protected] and ask for a loyalty discount. You also need to let them know that your trading your phone in for the voucher to work with this trade in deal. They'll ask you for your phone number and they'll give you a call to make sure you've finalised your trade in through the app. They'll then ask for your trade in code before issuing you a discount code.

      • Thankyou I'll try this Monday. :)

      • @Charlieeee Hey Charlieee, with the loyalty email did they ask for a Samsung IMEI for the trade in, cos I don't have one.

  • How long do we have before we have to return the phone? As in, once we buy, do they send us the trade in package thing and then we have 7 days from that date? Or do they send the trade in package thing along with the new mobile…. which allows us time to transfer data to the new mobile?

    • +3

You have 7 days from the day you receive the new phone

  • Support chat keeps telling me no voucher for upgrading or switching from apple to Samsung

    • yes, I had the same experience

    • Same goes for the 10% loyalty voucher. Even got issued one after some persistence but it didn’t work. Only to be told again they aren’t doing it for the s23 series. Sad.

      • +4

You emailed [email protected]? For the discount to work you need to specify upfront that you will be trading in your phone otherwise they will issue you a discount voucher which won't stack with this trade-in deal. They need you to quote your trade in ID in order to generate a valid voucher.

My voucher was eligible for the whole S series:

It was nice chatting with you earlier, I appreciate your time today!

As discussed on our recent call, you are eligible to get this 10% discount voucher code if you purchase Samsung Galaxy S Series, A Series or Z series through our Samsung Australia Online Store shop.samsung.com/au/.

The said voucher will only stay active for 30 days and can only be used for 1 item. Please read the rest of the disclaimers indicated below and don't hesitate to reply back to this email if you have other questions.

Please use the following promotion code on the checkout page to redeem your discount voucher:

        • +1

Thanks mate, that was very helpful, to contact their email. I now have the 10% off code :)

Is the loyalty email also needed for the iphone $100 code? or through live chat? im having no luck on the chat for the $100 voucher

          • @Mttogo96: No problem. $100 code is only available through the live chat, but it sounds like they may no longer be offering it.

            • @Charlieeee: Ah fair enough, thanks again appreciate the help

            • @Charlieeee: Still offering it, but not for the S23 line up.

            • @Charlieeee: They said the switch code expired last month, March 31st. They aren't sure when it will be renewed

  • Sadly my phone is worth 0…

  • Anyone able to get this deal through their EPP portal?

    • +1

The trade-in boost is not currently on the education or government portals.

  • my s10 plus trade in value is $60. how much i will be charged if i dont return?

  • My Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus trade in value is 10 bucks. Is that even legit?

  • Op. Remind people of cashback! 2.8% on cashrewards and shopback!

    • +1

      No coupons allowed.

  • +1

Rememb er you will be dealing with Asurion. Not worth the headache. Use JB HiFi and squaretrade.

  • Anybody know how much flip 4 is worth? My friend had been complaining about the trashy camera.

    • Flip4 512GB
Samsung trade in value: $440 💀
Jb Hifi trade in value: $600

  • Month old, perfect condition a53 5g 128gb worth $700 new… $80 trade in.. nah.

Was actually tempted to upgrade but $80 is an insult.

    • Iphone SE $719 - $220 trade in. Used to dislike Samsung ever since they stopped supporting my s9+ 2 years after purchase and add to the insult they were happy to push ads on my notifications, but this proves it. Happy never to buy Samsung ever again. I mean there is a reason why it's heavily discounted 2 mo after release…

  • -5

    Samsung is a joke.

My 2018 S9+ $1349 brand new - trade in with Samsung gives me all of $35 if it's in mint condition = 2.6% original RRP

iphnoe X $1579 brand new - released 6 mo before s9+ - trade in with Apple $215 if it's in mint condition = 13.6% original RRP

Or to put it another way paying 17% more when new means your see a 544% higher trade in value

    • +2

You're a joke. It's a $400-$500 bonus trade in (depending on model selected) meaning that you're getting between $435-$535 off from the RRP (on top of the $200 off and $50 off newsletter).

      • -3

Hmm right so bonus means it is the norm and the norm means temporary in your world I see

        • Trade up on the iPhone then since it's the norm and it makes financial sense to you 🤷🏻‍♂️ meanwhile, your 5 year old phone that nobody will buy continues to gather dust.

          • -4

@orly: Bro don't be salty and make up fanciful lies coz you make poor judgement and blatantly ignore facts

            • -1

@bigpoppa: This is how I usually see it, instead of based on % RRP, you look at the difference when trading up:
              2018 s9 $1349
              2018 iphonex $1579
              Total difference is $230
              For trade in:
              2018 s9 $35
              2018 iphonex $215
              differences is $180
So higher bought price actually means losing more when trading up because at the end of the day
              buying phone $1349 - $35 gives you -$1314
              buying phone $1579 - $215 gives you -$1364

              • -2

@chen: Well comparing %RRP with trade in from respective manufacturers seems to be a more apples to apples comparison.

Lets look at it another way. The newer Samsung s9+ last received an OS update around Sep 2019. Iphone X was released 6 mo prior and last received an OS update 9 days ago. And this is not even considering the fact that S9+ struggles with apps like tiktok and reddit with very notable lags that is not seen a phone which is 6 mo older and that is still being supported by its manufacturer while retaining a 600% better trade in value from its manufacturer. My iphone 7 outperforms my s9+.

Sure you end up spending $50 more after you trade in, but that doesn't mean the cheaper samsung is a better value. Samsung is anything but a better value

                • @bigpoppa: Guess if that's the case i could just compare s9 trade in vs iphone 5-6 (or any other phone) when iphone trade in value is $0 so that's 0% RRP lol..

                  • -1

@chen: Sure, if you want to compare a phone from 2018 to an iphone from 2014 to rationalise a samsung then go ahead. I prefer quality over quantity

    • Lol. Imagine complaining that your 5 year old phone has zero trade in value.

      • Lol imagine having a 5 year old phone worth less than a 6 year old phone

  • +1

I am very interested in this deal, hoping that someone can answer these questions thanks, i'm planning not to return my trade in phone:

1 - Although there are comments that if we do not return the trade in phone, we only get charged the trade in value, with admin fee with Assurion and keep the trade in bonus, is it written anywhere in writing we can do this?

2 - Can we use the same phone IMEI / app process for both JBHifi and Samsung deals and not return the trade in?

3- If we do not trade it in, could our credit rating be impacted?

4 -Can we combined this deal with TRS refund and if so which value will they base this on?

Answering any part of the above is fine thank you.

  • Can anyone let me know how many of you got the $100 apple switch to samsung discount?

    • not me…tried 20mins ago. only sign up

      • They say the switch code expired on March 31st.

  • Anyone knows if Samsung will provide a tax invoice for the full amount of the phone or just the final reduced amount? I mean after bonus and trade in value

    • +1

      Final reduced amount

  • Will the amount deducted from Trade-in be refunded if the product is returned?

  • +1

Anyone getting error with trade in ? Mine says trade in service not available

    • Had the same thing. Turns out what seemed like"1" in the code was actually the capital letter "i".

  • Huge warning to you all!!!
I was a returning customer from Apple
Bought a S23 ultra and the watch preorder deal
Repeated talks of warnings for my new address went with no attention and the item was sent back
Repeated attempts to get it re-delivered was a fail with them
Countless of calls and messages but no call backs no tracking number and I had no phone for a month.
    It didn’t end there
This time I asked for a refund!
Just as predicted after countless conversations and apologies from them I still don’t have my money
    Nothing worked
They keep saying we will escalate and contact back office and apologise
    Nothing
No calls no emails from them
I can’t talk to one of their managers or complaint departments
In the meantime I went and purchased another ultra
But seeing all this how Samsung threaten me, I totally lost confidence and trust in them
    Especially coming from Apple
I gave them so many chances but they kept f ing it up
    No more!
I have just sold the other ultra I bought
I will never ever use a Samsung product in future
And I will warn anyone who do
They love to take your money but when it comes to customer service they suck million times
    Never again
    I’m done with them!!!

    • +1

      How did they threaten you?
Agree their service and support are absolutely useless. Can't believe how incompetent a large consumer service company is.

      • +1

I think he means how they treated him

      • +1

Sorry it was a typo. The correction. Yes unfortunately this was the case and never seen in my life. I’m 50.

  • +2

Has anyone actually been able to use this trade-in deal? It keeps telling me "Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment"

    • +1

I've been getting this error since about midday yesterday, and I am not having much luck.

    • +1

      Yep. Same here

Thanks OP. I tried doing this a month ago when they had the bonus and the trade up app just would not work for me - kept saying ineligible. I did multiple reinstalls and both Asurion and Samsung told me to factory reset, but it was after the bonus finished so I missed it anyway. I downloaded the app again today not expecting it to work but it did, and with the extra $200 off it's a better deal than a month ago.

The trade up app is really terrible.

  • anyone know of a tempered glass for s23 that works with the sensor (no cut outs)?

  • Wanted to share my experience trying to buy the s23 ultra in this deal, i found a very dodgy practice when on the checkout that has caused me to not buy the phone in the end. When on check out and stacking my coupons ($50 sign up + 10% loyalty discount) it would show my total price which included the aforementioned coupons. However after putting in my shipping address and finalizing checkout by selecting paypal/credit card my price would jump up $50! Essentially removing one of my coupons without warning or any notice, right at the end of the checkout… Price just jumps up and it almost caught me off guard. I have tried other details to see if its triggered by my phone number or something but it just seems that samsung lets you stack coupons until the very end when youre about to pay and sneakily ups the price, quite dodgy in my mind, thanks Samsung.

    • +1

      Yup same !

      • Pretty bad practice… sale lost haha

    • +1

Happened with me also when I logged in. But I resolved it by simply removing the codes and adding those back.
So the trick is, first login with your Samsung account and then apply the codes.

  • anyone get error when try to put in trade in ID? i keep getting "Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment "

  • +1

Pulled the trigger on the 256GB Ultra for $1123 minus the trade-in value. That's with the 10% loyalty discount

FYI: Apple to Sammy voucher's are permanently removed and the newsletter discount does not stack up with the loyalty discount anymore.

Far not as good deal as previous $800 discount that would also stack up with the Newsletter and Apple to Samsung vouchers, but I guess Samsung realized people were getting insane bargains.

    • +3

i managed to get newsletter to stack with the 10% loyalty if i didnt login with a samsung account and used card to pay. If i selected paypal it would update the cart and remove $50 newsletter, if i logged in with samsung account it would also remove $50 newsletter

      • +1

Without logging into Samsung account, it would still add the $50 when the card details are entered.

        • +1

Oh wow, not sure how i bypassed it removing the $50 newsletter then.. it did take me a few tries. $713.20 total for a S23 256gb, would have still paid it if the newsletter didnt stack. Super bad practice on samsungs part in removing it sneakily.

          • @exolocity: Nice. I'm guessing the $713 total is after the trade in? Which phone did you trade in? Mine should come down to $960 after having the iPhone XS sent in.

            • @zedgaras: I set my phones trade in value purposely to $1 since im not planning on sending it back. I would rather pay the $30 non-trade in fee and either sell it on marketplace or give it to a friend

Edit: So it'll be $713 + $30 fee on top. (Trade in phone is a Samsung S21 256gb)

              • +1

@exolocity: Same here regarding the $1 trade-in and $30 penalty. I'm planning to send my phone in to Mobile Monster, unless I find a better deal elsewhere.

        • Likewise the suscribe voucher keeps getting removed regardless of being logged in or paying using card or paypal.

  • For those who have bought, what price does the sales invoice list? Is it the original $, or original $ minus discounts, or minus discounts and minus trade in?

    • Minus discounts and trade-in.

  • On 18 April I ordered a S23 256GB for final price $763 using the usual discount offers. Final price seems to consist of $1449 RRP - 200 current promo - 400 trade of my S8 with damage - 50 newsletter - loyalty 36. I thought loyalty was 10%, so I do not know where the $36 came from. Not as good as some of the experts here have achieved, but I am happy enough. I got the Lavender my wife wants and I disposed of my S8 for more than I could get elsewhere.

Samsung online chat did not know anything about the Apple to Samsung promo subsidy. They were however quite helpful talking me through the current hugely complex and tricky online purchase process.

As a bit of comparison, the local phone shop here has a used S22 256GB priced at $850.

Now waiting with bated breath for delivery to the local Samsung kiosk, and any of the famous Asurion problems.

  • Stupid question, once you complete the trade in app like Asurion, how does Samsung discount of $500 provided? Is there a voucher or

  • The tradein app gives you a tradein value eg $1 and a code. At Checkout there is a box called tradein which you click to enter the tradein code. This will then cause the tradein bonus eg $400 to be applied to the purchase price. There is a separate box for other promo codes eg loyalty, newsletter to be applied, one after the other. Hope this is clear enough. I did the purchase and the tradein app processes on the S8 I was trading in. This is a little simpler, as the tradein app asks whether this is the device to be traded, and if yes, interrogates the device for info.

  • Unlike the JB deal, this one seems to require that you run their app on your trade in. Theres no offline mechanism
