    • I'm waiting for my 1 X 8TB ironwoof aswell.
      Ordered 6.26am
      Not charged, not shipped
Estimated delivery showing as 1 May

  • +2

My 2x20TB got shipped this morning, ETA 28th April.

  • +1

2 x 16tb shipped this morning. Wish I'd bought more. Dammit

  • Still waiting for my 2 x 12tb to ship but I got in late just before price was changed.

    • Still yet to ship :(

      • My 8TB is also yet to ship! There's still the inkling fear of the order being cancelled lol

        • I bought on April 19th @ 1:25am and my order only just shipped this morning the 24th @ 5:35am

  • Mine still says preparing for shipment.

I ordered in the morning around 9:30ish

    keeping my fingers crossed

  • I'm shipped with a 16TB bought at 5am. I think we are all getting hard drives.

    • Agreed - have seen no suggestion otherwise.

But I’ll probably still refresh hourly until I know for sure that my Product Strategy paperback is on a plane to Sydney…

  • Ordered 5 X 12TB at 9am AEST, 19/4.

    Shipped 10:16pm, 21/4.

  • 4 x 8tb shipped status overnight, ordered 1:30am

  • My 1 x 16TB also shipped overnight ✅

  • My 2 just shipped

What a bargain compared to previous prices even though it’s not WD and my previous seagate experience has been bad

  • Mine shipped just now.

  • My 4 x 12tb just got shipped 20 mins ago. ETA 5th May.

  • Item shipped, man what a deal wishing i bought more especially when I knew how insanely cheap it was.

I even commented replying to people asking if they should buy this or wait, it was a clear and cut buy.

  • Missed this deal because it wasn't tagged as internal hard drive. I am extremely mad.

    • Darwin shrugged…

    • Create alerts for:
      16TB
      18TB
      20TB
Should capture internal and external that pop up.

  • My 2x18TB ordered at 11:02pm WST on 18/04 finally shipped today at 06:23am WST. ETA 09/05.

I also ordered 2x 8TB Barracuda an hour earlier at 10:07pm WST on 18/04, which has not shipped yet.

  • 2x16TB drives, purchased at 19/04, 3:15am, dispatched individually this morning. Expecting them to arrive on different days too, kinda weird but I guess I can't complain.

    • both drives ordered on the same order, but individually shipped?? That is strange indeed. Are the two drives from different warehouses perhaps??

      • Yep same order/invoice.

  • +2

My 2x16TB drives, were purchased separately on 19/04, at 12:45am and 3:50am but were dispatched in the same order. They were dispatched on 21/04 at 2:00am and they are already in Sydney on 22/04 at 2:00pm. Exceptionally fast shipping.

  • Ordered 2X16 tb at around 8am 19 April. Not shipped yet.

    • Shipped soon after previous post

  • +1

Mine have hit Mascot and are with "another carrier for delivery" - due on Saturday apparently…

  • +1

Mine have been delivered, 4x 12tb ironwolfs. They aren't packaged in retail packaging though. Plain brown boxes with a white label on them stating the model, is this normal?

    • Is it in the seal anti-static bag? if Yes, then it's normal OEM packing.

      • Yes it is in the sealed anti-static bag. Good to know it's normal, thanks! 🙂

        • +1

You should be fine if they package it up and are fully protected.

    • +1

Nice, lucky you, my 12TB ones seem to be in San Bernardino, California US. Can't wait for them to arrive.

      • Mine got shuffled to Carson CA

      • Mine went from San Bernardino CA Amazon facility to Carson CA carrier facility. Probably with one of the couriers to have it flown across the Pacific.

    • Last batch of WD drives I got from Amazon US came in what I assume is the same type of packaging.

Had plastic insert inside the box that held the drive in place securely, 1 drive in each box. Pic below.

      https://imgur.com/a/TiC4gpb?

      • Yes it was pretty similar to that. Not exactly but close. As long as they are not refurbs there is no issues 😆

  • Dumb question but do these need a tape mod like some of the shucked WD drives do?

    • +1

      Nope, good to go.

  • Delivered 2x16TB, but one of the boxes for the drives is damaged. The drive looks fine but not sure what to make of this.

    https://ibb.co/MGdLrVy

Should I return it? Any advice for checking if the drive is OK?

    • Could try running Seagate SeaTools to run tests on the drives. —> https://www.seagate.com/au/en/support/kb/how-to-use-seatools…
Alternatively, certain NAS have drive health validators such as Ironwolf Health Management on QNAP.

    • As recommended by the other poster, run a scan on the drive. While not ideal, the box is ultimately there to take the impact on behalf of the drive itself so I wouldn’t immediately kick off a returns process. If there’s suitable packaging inside the box such as a plastic padding that drives often go in as a dampener, then there’s a good chance the drive itself is ok.

      • +3

The outer box is fine so this is something that happened before they packed and shipped it. They should have replaced it at the FC.

There's no plastic dampener inside the box. It's just the drive in the sealed anti-static bag.

I'll run a scan on the the drive and see if it's okay. Thanks @Smigit and @Konradical for the advice.

        • Good luck!

    • -1

I wouldnt trust a disk that arrives in packaging like that. That usually means it was delivered damaged like that and returned previously.

  • Some of my orders have already been delivered. Happy days! But also regrets when I remember buying several 14TBs for nearly $400 in the past. 😂

    • +3

No point regretting it, existing technology will always get cheaper and cheaper.

  • +1

My 20TB drives that I ordered just before the price change just arrived. I really thought they'd cancel it.

    • How many did you get? is the drive packaging and performance OK? no issue?

  • My 12TB arrived this morning. Unfortunately appears DOA. Drive emits a slow beeping tone, and never appears in unRAID. Tried different cables, different system, same beeping.

    • Damn, thats unfortunate. Hope you have a good outcome going back for a replacement.

  • +1

Just got my 20TB delivered just now. Came in the Amazon bublewrap pouch where it was inside a custom cardboard box that looks like it can provide decent protection. Regretting that I didnt purchase 2 HDD at the time.

  • Bought 3x 18 and then 2x18 a few minutes later.
Both orders held by Australian customs today.

    • 🚨🚨🚨

    • +1

I had 6 x 20TB held by customs for 2 days before clearance. Awaiting for the second 6 to get through now.

    • All cleared, no further charges delivered today.

  • Noooooo!

    Undeliverable
Unfortunately, a problem occurred during shipping and we had to cancel your delivery. The package is being returned, and we will issue a refund within 3 - 5 business days after the return is processed. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience.

So it looks like I'm screwed out of my cheap 2x 18TB drives because of some butter-fingered hillbilly.

    • Would be worth getting on live chat to say you want a replacement rather than refund. The products in stock after all.

      • +1

Would be worth getting on live chat to say you want a replacement rather than refund.

Already did that. CS guy said he couldn't do it and said someone from "our concerned team" would email me.

But you're right. They still have the product in stock, and they did charge my cc, so I shouldn't miss out because their courier damaged the shipment.

      • Update -
Amazon's "concerned team" told me to reorder (@AUD$874.93) and they would give me a store credit of the difference (AUD$344.41).

I said no. How about you just resend the order I've already paid for?

        They said no.

        So currently I have;
        1) no drives
        2) no refund
        3) lodged a complaint with the ACCC and;
        4) lodged a complaint with QLD Fair Trading.

WTF happened to Amazon's customer service? It used to be good.

I just want what I ordered for the price I've already been charged. Why is this such an issue?

        • +1

That's really disappointing. Can't believe they think accumulating that much store credit is acceptable.

        • Did you call or live chat? I've had better service when I've called.

          • @shaun-o:

Did you call or live chat?

Live chat, then email, then live chat again, then email again.

            • @Chris McMahon: Try calling them? I had two Asus routers which were having issues & were out of warranty.

Amazon Live Chat: "Sorry the return window has closed, contact the manufacturer".

Amazon Call: "Sure, send them back to us & we'll refund you".

        • +2

What's to stop them just continuing with the refund?
I would have accepted store credit in this case, at least then you get the drives.

I do spend quite a bit on Amazon so that amount of store credit is not a problem to me, but I understand it could be a bit much for others.

I am trying to read Australian consumer law to determine if the choice of refund or replace is the consumers, or the businesses and coming up blank.

Good luck either way, getting that message about it being damaged and returned automatically must have been extremely frustrating.

          • @ad62623: I didn't want to be stuck with ~$340 of store credit. I would take me ages to use it.

Good luck either way, getting that message about it being damaged and returned automatically must have been extremely frustrating.

The frustrating part was them refusing to just resend it. They can see it never left the US, so why can't they just resend it? I'm sure the courier company will pay for the damaged original shipment, so Amazon won't be out of pocket.

            • +1

@Chris McMahon: I have 1k in Bezos account.

              Use Amazon alot. Still..

I wouldn't accept store credit. It's the principle

            • @Chris McMahon: Yea they can be pretty obtuse at times.

I order a 2 pack of plates and only received one.
I told them I'm happy to accept a 50% refund, but they kept saying sorry we can only do 30%. Or I can send it back for a full refund.
I did keep pushing and finally they gave me 50% back.

        • Nice work. This kind of grief is why they tend to not cancel orders with price error, rather they just wear it. Therefore I get to keep my 16tb enterprise disk thanks mate.

  • Was quite sceptical my order would go through but apparently it shipped this morning @ 5:35am the 24th of April, put my order through on the 19th @ 1:24am.

  • What's the best way to run diagnostic tests for internal drives without a PC? I have no problem testing external drives plugged into my laptop using HD Sentinel, but have no idea what to do for internal drives.

    • +1

If you've shucked drives in the past for a NAS you can just re-use those if you still have them, otherwise you'd need to buy a SATA - USB adapter and hook that up to your laptop to test.

      • Thanks. I think I still have the enclosure of my old seagate drives. Wondering if there’s something like HD Sentinel on Synology DSM so I can do the tests directly on the NAS.

        • +1

          Do an extended disk test.

          To run the S.M.A.R.T. test:
The S.M.A.R.T. test examines and reports the drive status and condition, alerting you of possible drive failure. We recommended changing your drive immediately if this test fails. Follow the steps below to run the S.M.A.R.T. test on a drive:

          Go to the HDD/SSD page.
Select a drive and click the Health Info button.
          Go to the S.M.A.R.T. tab.
Note: This tab will not appear if the drive model does not support this test.
Choose Quick Test or Extended Test and click Start to run the test.
Go to Test Result to see the latest test result.
Note: The test result will be either Normal, Interrupted, Aborted, or Failing.

          • @garetz: I will try this when I set up my new NAS. Thanks heaps!

      • I didn't know these things exist! Thanks :)

        • Why does the "Newest" model look like it's from the early 90s?

I have the BL model. Paid $40. Works great.

        • If you’re not going to use it a lot, a cabled solution might be cheaper and good enough

          https://www.amazon.com.au/UGREEN-Adapter-Support-Converter-D…

Just bare in mind power requirements. For a 3.5” you may need to use an additional power supply (which you may already have). Check the description for that. Also think about the surface you leave the drive running on.

Not as nice as a full dock but if you only need to do this vary rarely then it’s cheaper and takes up less space storage wise.

      • Don't accidentally push the clone button 😞

Received my order for 2x 18TB Pro today. Very impressive shipping speed by UPS. Shipped last Friday 21/04, and arrived in Perth in basically 3-4 business days. It has gone through HK, then Singapore, to get here.

Unfortunately, one of the shipped drives is a 16TB Pro!

  • my 2 x 8TB IronWolfs arrived today. Drives are in their own individual boxes, but the two smaller boxes were just loose in a standard plastic bag. No discernible damage to the boxes… should be alright… right?!

I think I have a HDD dock somewhere, so will do some tests.

  • drives delivered as well. packed for once

  • +1

Got my 2 X 20tb in one package and 3 X 20tb in a second package arrive today.

    Booya for avoiding import tax.

  • Ordered a 20tb on the 19th.
It got delivered this morning, it was packaged very well.
    Made in Thailand.

Time to run a full test on it

  • My 4x18Tb's turned up today, a couple of days earlier than expected. Packaging is good. Now to order a new NAS to replace my DS1813+ that is serving me well (still has 6x of the original shucked 4Tb HGST disks in it with 75k+ hours on them in it - 2 died after around 40k hours and were replaced with 4Tb Ironwolfs).

    • did you do 1 order of 4x18TB? or separate orders

      • 1 order - I was surprised it didn't attract the customs fee with Amazon, but when it didn't come up at the checkout, I decided to give it a whirl - ended up being $1,061.04 after the 5% off.

  • Quite a lot of us in NZ got our packages today, this includes me

  • Mines arrived and in my unraid server no worries

  • order 19 April
    arrived today 27 April

    4*12tb

    • Can I ask when did you receive the notification that they shipped? And was it from San Bernadino then Carson California?

  • I regret this deal…should have bought more!

  • Arrived yesterday. The packaging was good inside the Amazon box.

  • Just received my 2x16TB today and would like to buy a NAS for backup images, run a Frigate container for CCTV recordings, and Videos.

Will Synology DS220+ be enough for 2x16TB and run the frigate container? Dont think I would need a 4bay NAS but need to know if buying 220+ would be suitable for my need?

Can someone please provide your input?

    • +2

I suggest investing in a 4 bay so you can upgrade capacity in the future if you need to without buying another nas
