Welcome to the Ultimate Guide of Youtube Premium Subscriptions via Turkey

Where were we? Ahhhh… yes… we're back again, after 6 months, except this time with an upgraded guide. Most of you should be on this subscription already, but for those who are new or haven't yet hopped on the bandwagon, here's a reminder that it exists :)

After Google increased the prices for Youtube Premium in several countries worldwide late 2022, including USA, UK, Canada, Argentina, Turkey, Japan (etc), we have the following facts:

  • Argentina is no longer the cheapest country to sign up from after being the go-to for years (now ARS 389 / A$2.67 for Individual plans and ARS 699 / A$4.80 for Family plans). Further, they have changed the way they take payments and so many Australian debit and credit cards no longer work for Argentina.
  • India is now the cheapest country to sign up from, although subscribing to the Youtube Premium (Family) plan is almost impossible given India's new laws around payments and now requires a local Indian payment method, something most of us do not have access to. Youtube Premium (Individual) should still be doable using ExpressVPN.
  • Turkey is now the second cheapest and easiest country to sign up from (just under 10 cents more than India)

Since last deal, most OzBargainers have migrated from Argentina to other countries (majorily Turkey). If you tried to sign up to a Youtube Premium Family via India, you probably hit a dead end, with most cards ending up declining due to this reason and this reason. Well if that is the case, hopefully Youtube Premium via Turkey will be a breeze, especially for those who have Google One via Turkey already (confirmed working for me, you will not need to enter a new address and it took me like 30 seconds to sign up to Youtube Premium Family).

Note: You DO NOT need to change your region to subscribe to YouTube Premium (Turkey). Unlike Google One which requires a region change to an extent, security for Youtube Premium is not as tight as Google One. Simply log into your main account, use a Turkish VPN and sign up YouTube Premium.

Available Plans via Turkey:

For price references, Youtube Premium via Australia is $8.99/mth for student plans, $14.99/mth for individual plans & $22.99/mth for family plans

You can subscribe to either a monthly plan or an annual plan.

Please read the following instructions carefully. I've tested it on iPhone and PC (windows), so here's my experience - and it took literally minutes.

Instructions (No Current Subscription)

Note: If you're signing up for a family plan, best to add your Australia family members / accounts into a family group BEFORE signing up, otherwise you may get the following error: "Looks like you're in a different country from the family manager". To add family members, go to: https://families.google.com/families

Step 1: Add any family members to your Google Family Group (if needed): https://families.google.com/families

Step 2: Connect a VPN to a server in Turkey (see Notes section for suggestions).

Step 3: Go to https://www.youtube.com/premium and if it shows currency in TRY (Turkish Lira), continue choosing your membership.

Step 4: When prompted, enter your Turkey address (If needed, use a fake address generator to obtain a random Turkey address) and proceed to pay by debit/credit card (preferedly with no international fees)

Step 5: Fly back home and turn off your VPN. YOU'RE DONE! WOOO! Enjoy your savings :)

Instructions (Transferring from a different country)

Note: If you're signing up for a family plan, best to add your Australia family members / accounts into a family group BEFORE signing up, otherwise you may get the following error: "Looks like you're in a different country from the family manager". To add family members, go to: https://families.google.com/families

Step 1: Go to https://m.youtube.com/paid_memberships and click on your current subscription. Click “manage” then continue to cancel. Once cancelled, the current subscription will continue until the end of the billing period. But you now have an option to resubscribe back to Youtube Premium

Step 2: Add any family members to your Google Family Group (if needed): https://families.google.com/families

Step 3: Connect a VPN to a server in Turkey (see Notes section for suggestions).

Step 4: Go to https://www.youtube.com/premium and if it shows currency in TRY (Turkish Lira), continue choosing your membership.

Step 5: When prompted, enter your Turkey address (If needed, use a fake address generator to obtain a random Turkey address) and proceed to pay by debit/credit card (preferedly with no international fees)

Step 6: Fly back home and turn off your VPN. YOU'RE DONE! WOOO! Enjoy your savings :)

ISP Notes (Important)

  • Most VPN services will connect to Turkey, unlike India. Those include NordVPN, Private Internet Access (PIA), free Windscribe Chrome extension (recommended), free UrbanVPN Chrome extension (recommended), ExpressVPN, etc. If one doesn't work, use another VPN

    • If you're using Windscribe and it shows different currencies: keep turning the windscribe on and off. Each time you don't get TRY, turn it off and on, then refresh the Youtube sign up page. You'll eventually land on TRY. Go to https://whatismyipaddress.com/ each time you turn it off/on and see if you land on Istanbul

FAQ

Q: Will I get banned by Google?
A: There’s always a chance, however only a tiny number of people (<5) have actually gotten suspended by Google (see linked previous post in OP). Proceed at your own risk.

Please note the process can be easy for some people, harder for others, or may not work at all.

  • There is no need for aggression in instances where you are unable to subscribe to an international Netflix account. Share your experience so everyone can chip in and help out. There are plenty of examples where hacks shared on this platform do not work for some people, but may work for others:

    • Modem reset for faster internet,
    • Cash back program purchase tracking,
    • Price matching an unobtainable deal or price error,
    • Targeted bargains, and
    • Limited quantity items quickly or instant (bot) sellout.
  • Similarly we know there are cash back users who follow every single step for cash back (turn off ad blocker, have no items in cart, do not click other links, etc.) on their purchases and it does not work, its probably best to move on.There are many users who successfully use this hack and enjoy paying half the price of the Australian membership. Unfortunately there are also many users who have been unable to sign up to Netflix Turkey or Argentina. After all it is intended for people who reside in Turkey or Argentina. If it does not work, I am not affiliated with any of the entities listed below or linked to and cannot guarantee any outcome. I can only read comments on this platform and others to share them with you. Your patience is appreciated. Please do not take it personally.

  • Thanks OP! Ukraine working with Surfshark VPN. Bendigo Bank was accepted. $6.48 AUD per month for a family plan.

    • Cheers… Turkey wouldn't work for me..

      Ukraine and surfshark worked perfectly

  • Hey guys, after connected to the VPN, the currency changed to pounds instead of TRY, anyone knows what's going on?

    • Use a different vpn. Try windscribe

      • -1

This didn't work for me last night. Still in pounds. I am watching this thread with interest

        • Came here to share the same thing. Connected to Turkey via Windscribe, and the currency is GBP.

          • @mblack77: I subscribe to Ukraine instead, 6 bucks monthly for the family, I am happy as long as cheaper than AU hahah

    • Try other vpn and/or other servers.

      • I think now it requires local card to pay, I subscribe to Ukraine instead. Thanks anyways.

  • I am g to trying to sign up for the turkey YouTube premium . Can someone help me with this please ? I downloaded windscribe on my phone and got connected to Istanbul vpn. I also checked my ip adress and it says Istanbul but the you tube is providing my GBP price during premium sign up. If someone has gone through this please advise

  • didn't work Dam U Citi Bank, ANZ, and St George.

  • +1

I used HMA VPN, connected to Bangladesh, Price came up as 179 CZK which is AUD12, still cheaper than AUD22 but not quite TUR or IND level.

    • Uhh, i did that and it's 179 CZK (per month) so $12AUD * $12 = $144AUD.

  • -1

Not worth the time and faff for a saving of just a few bucks.

    • Then don't do it. 😊

  • +3

    Just sharing my experience.

Chrome on the PC using PIA and Urban VPN - Turkey didnt work. Ukarine struck at payment.

It works when I Used PIA VPN in Ukarine and then use youtube app on my Samsung Android phone. Like others, Turkey just wouldnt work. So may be worth trying on your mobile phone and the youtube app via Ukarine.

    Good luck!

  • Seems like oldubil is gone, my transaction got declined . Anyone else facing issue?

    • my last transfers on 10/10 worked

  • +1

Apologies in advance but first time post.

Finally got it to work with Turkey prices.

    1. I followed part 1 and part 2 steps from here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/755738
      • Create Turkey Apple ID
      • Purchased 300 TL iTunes Gift Card from Turgame, which only charged me $17.54 from my Bankwest Mastercard. Took maybe 5 mins to purchase and receive the gift card via email.
    2. Using my spare iPhone, On YouTube app I signed into my normal (aussie) gmail account, connect to Turkey using NordVPN
    3. Open YouTube app, click on Profile > Scroll to the bottom > click on Get YouTube Premium > I selected Individual TRY 39.99 and Subscribe!

Only downside was I wasn't able to pay for the annual 12 month plan but it still works out roughly $26-27 per year so can't complain.

    • +3

Hi, just an info, you can actually just subcribe it through the Youtube app with no VPN needed as your apple id are already in Turkiye region. I did this without vpn and it already shows the prices in TL instead of AUD.

      • Sweet even easier. I was trying all sorts. I think where I was going wrong was when I kept going to Purchases and memberships > Manage membership it was doing nothing clicking on the options

    • To continue delivering great service and features, we’re increasing your price to TRY 75.99 /month. We don’t make these decisions lightly, but this update will allow us to continue to improve Premium and support the creators and artists you watch on YouTube.

Apple will email you with additional information.

Note that you can save on your Premium subscription by signing up directly on our website, where the new rate for your plan would be TRY 57.99 /month. Restrictions may apply, learn more in our Help Center.

Stupid - I just signed up through apple :'(…. and have like $80 in credit… there's always an apple tax…

  • my indian subscription ended today.

Came looking for instructions to renew and found this.

    So the show is over?

    • I just signed up through Ukraine using Nord VPN. Cost $6.49 per month for the family membership

      • ok - just did the same. not as cheap but it will do.

I noticed no annual subscription option, which could mean they could burn us in future I guess

    • My Indian is still working. Last payment was last Friday. CBA Mastercard

  • +2

YouTube: We are increasing the YouTube Premium family plan price to A$32.99/month.

Oof, am currently paying AU$17.99 for family plan. Nearly double!

    • +2

Same here was $17.99, got the email this morning about being almost doubled to $32.99. I am now a proud Ukrainian according to Google. No chance in hell I'd ever pay that ridiculous price!

    • Yep, same.

  • To continue delivering great service and features, we’re increasing your price to ARS 1,569.00 /month. We don’t make these decisions lightly, but this update will allow us to continue to improve Premium and support the creators and artists you watch on YouTube.

    This can’t be real.
    ARS1569 = Au$86

    • Don't know what currency converter you used…
      ARS 1569 = AUD 7

      • My bad, wrong converter used.

    • family or individual?

  • Turkey family plan going from 60 TRY to 116 TRY

  • +1

Finally jumped aboard this after seeing the price increase for Australian plans. Was initially getting the payment declined error due to a different country.

What ended up working was Firefox, UrbanVPN, Philippines and MQ debit card.

    • how much in AUD now for family plan?

      • Will be 32.99

      • +1

        ₱239.00/mo or about $6.50

    • +1

Be very careful with this method. I believe Philippines youtube is kind of broken. I have been charged for the subscription fee and it showing on my google pay profile. However, it does not activate on youtube and you will lose the control to cancel the subscription.

  • Y is this showing expired??

Is it still working and the cheapest as YouTube has increased TRY pricing

  • Just got an email, going from 60 TRY to 116 TRY, absolute massive increase.

Imagine paying $33 AUD for YouTube.

  • +6

Not sure if I stumbled on something better than what everyone else got or I stuffed up somehow. I got mine through Pakistan. UrbanVPN -> youtube.com/premium through safari -> generate dodgy home address -> pay with revolut and dodgy address.

PKR479 per month with is $2.63 for individual plan.

Ukraine was $4.21 and Phillipines slightly higher. Turkey wouldn't accept my card as it has done in the past.

    • +1

How much was it for family plan?

    • Strange, I use UrbanVPN too but ain't see Pakitstan option

    • what did you choose for country?

    • Fantastic thank you. Worked for me

    • Thank you! I just did this. Youtube Premium Family Pakistan @ PKR 899/month ~ AU$4.87/month.

Paid with Amex card no problems.

      • I just signed up to Youtube Premium Family plan as well via Pakistan. Same price as PKR899/month.

        I also used the UrbanVPN.

However I cannot confirm if this will work 100% because since this is my first time ever signing up to Youtube Premium they didn't charge me. I am on a 1 month trial. After that I guess I will find out if my Macquarie Bank card works. It added fine to the wallet with the random address generator.

        • If you don't plan on using the VPN anymore, can you confirm after a month if it kicked you or your family member off? Apparently every 30 days it checks electronically if everyone is at the same address or something like that and I was wondering if not using the VPN and being on Australia would mess with it basically.

          • +1

@PuppetMaster000: Yes sure I can confirm after a month to see if it is still working.

            • @Monty1089: Awesome, thank you! My annual subscription is expiring in January so if your thing works without issues and without a VPN, I switch to family plan and add my partner on it too.

              • @PuppetMaster000: Hey PuppetMaster000.

Sorry for the late reply but I almost forgot to update you. But yes the YouTube premium is still working. My Macquarie Bank card was charged $4.86 AUD for the family plan via Pakistan. So far it is working fine :)

    • You are right actually, this is by far the best one I found after looking around. Turkey and Argentina don't seem to wont anymore and Ukraine is more expensive.
Up to 2 users even, this method beats any family plan that is working so far. It is cheaper than Turkish annual subscription too.
Only issue with family plans would be worrying about getting kicked off after 30 days or something because it would be set up in Pakistan.

Well done on figuring this one out!

      • Only issue with family plans would be worrying about getting kicked off after 30 days or something because it would be set up in Pakistan.

Where did you see this? I did a search for 30 days in this deal's comments and you are the only one who have said they do a check every 30 days for address.

        • I don't know if I am allowed to send links here so I will explain how to find it. Search this exact phrase: Set up & manage a YouTube family plan
Open the google support page, it should be the very first link. At the bottom there will be "Location requirements for family plans", click on "Family plan location requirements"
You will see under there a statement saying: "To be eligible to share a YouTube family membership, each family members must live at the same residential address as the family manager. Every 30 days, an electronic check-in will confirm this requirement."

Hope this helps explain everything. I don't know if it is accurate or if and how it will be enforced, but do take it into consideration

          • +1

@PuppetMaster000: You are allowed to send links, but thank you, I found it from your instructions.

            https://support.google.com/families/answer/7507744#zippy=%2C…

Interesting… I've never seen that before previously (although I never really looked that hard). I've been using Turkish youtube premium for probably a year and sharing with my family across 4 different households, never had any issues.

            • @CodeXD: Perfect, that is really good to know. Although as of right now that method is pretty dead for people without previous accounts to pay for Turkey.
              Appreciate the info!

  • Got a notification about a price increase to 57.99tr a month

  • Family is also increasing to 115.99 tr / month.

    • yes, got the same notification from 18 December to become 115.99 try / month

  • Yeah also got the email this morning - still happy to pay $6.3aud for a family account haha

    • Same here. Is it still the cheapest going around? Still pretty cheap compared to Aus sub. If there are cheaper for say $5AUD I will just stick with TRY as not worth the hassle to change.

  • I've joined this chat. Was too much to go from A$11 to A$17 for YT. Now I'm paying ~A$7 for family plan. Thanks fam. Tx google.

  • Just signed up via Ukraine. Not as cheap as India, Turkyie and Argentina, but still a bargain at <$5/m.

    • +1

How to sign up to Ukraine? On Web or Mobile and What VPN? Been struggling. Thank you.

  • Youtube Turkey will increase family fee to TRY 116/month .This is the email i received

"To continue delivering great service and features, we’re increasing your price to TRY 115.99 /month. We don’t make these decisions lightly, but this update will allow us to continue to improve Premium and support the creators and artists you watch on YouTube.

You will see the change reflected on your December 24, 2023 billing date."

  • Tried signing up with Turkey VPN server, did not accept non local credit card. Ukraine worked however

  • is this still valid? any other place to get cheap premium if it is not

    • Comment about yours said they got it to work less than 3 hours ago…

  • +1

I've tried a bunch of ways but can't seem to get Youtube Premium to apply to my account. 1 year premium sub ended and have to renew. Tried VPN to Turkey, India, Pakistan and now Ukraine. India, Pakistan & Ukraine went through to CC information and now stuck on loading screen. Card got charged but still no premium. Hopefully they don't go past pending but if they do I'll dispute it.

Anyone have any other solutions recently?

  • Has anyone tried an UP card for these international memberships?

  • Just posting that I got successfully YT family to work for 6.40 a month using NordVPN and Revolut card via Ukraine server.

I tried PIA, Windscribe and UrbanVPN but none would load or spinning circle error. Nord worked immediately.

  • +1

Signed up for YT premium. Used UrbanVPN on PC via Chrome. Got the gamily plan for 6.38AUD a month

  • +10

My yearly Turkish YT premium is expiring in 2 weeks, just signed up to monthly via Pakistan no dramas; ≈ A$2.64/month.

UrbanVPN via FireFox then used Up card with a random address in Pakistan.

    • +2

THANK YOU! This worked for me!

Had to go via Firefox + UrbanVPN to Pakistan but I was able to use Commbank MC!

    • Thanks a lot. My yearly Turkish YT premium is expiring in 2 weeks too. Use the your way and got it worked, " I use HSBC Everyday Global account visa debit card "

    • Confirmed that the UrbanVPN / FireFox / Up card with a random address in Pakistan worked well.

    • Thanks!! Family PKR899/ month which is cheaper than turkey (with their price increase).
Confirmed Pakistan works. OP should make a new YT premium post

    • amazeballs, thank you so much.

i got the error code OR_CCREU_06 for which i could work around by:

using urbanVPN extension on firefox, turn on vpn, go to youtube, enter in card details, disconnect vpn, submit.

    • Chrome doesn't work and only Firefox worked for me!

    • Thank you!
UrbanVPN via Safari using Visa card worked for me. Hope this will last long.

  • Having issues with resubscribing, anybody found a work around?
"We couldn’t verify your country. Please see Help Center for more information." can't get it to resub on my main account but when I log into another account I'm able to start a subscription without the country error. Tried PIA, Windscribe & UrbanVPN.

    • Clear you cookies and history and try to use different devices.

      • Yeah tried with 2 other phones, couldn’t get it to work on PC with chrome. Could only get it not say it couldn’t verify with Firefox but not on my main account with all my saved/ liked videos.

  • Is anyone else encountering the same problem as me?

Upon entering a family group, the Google Play Store displays apps based on the country to which the family group is subscribed. For instance, the family group I belong to is subscribed to the Philippines, and as a result, the Play Store presents apps from the Philippines, indicating that local apps are not available in my country.

    • Same, my main account still shows Australia under settings in play store but YT music seems to be Ukraine and play store can't find KFC Australia as an example.

      • I had a look at the google play store via google chrome and I can find KFC Australia and even McDonald's Australia. I signed up to Youtube premium Pakistan yesterday.

        • Did you get the welcome to YouTube premium email already? I'm not sure when it changed for me, I signed up to Ukraine last week with a family setup. My main account even has an active YT red individual account as well.

I can install local appps if I can find a direct link to the play store but it won't show in search when im logged in.

          • @reactor-au: Yes I got the email. This is what the email says:

Welcome to your YouTube Premium family membership! Your 1-month trial begins immediately and will end on Dec 8, 2023. Your payment method will be charged monthly starting on Dec 8, 2023.

I'm not sure why some of you guys can't access the Aus play store. It works for me. I also searched up Stan just then and it comes up.

            • @Monty1089: I only have an australian payment profile setup on my main accounts but the prices are also coming in ukrain price/currency, for some reason inheriting from the family holders account.

            • @Monty1089: Knowing what you'll be charged on Dec 8 should explain a lot.

              • @aboabo: I haven't been charged yet for the family plan in ukraine as it is a new account, my main account is an old account with an active AU YT red sub from years ago.

This could be a useful thing though, can buy new movies in 4K for about A$7 or rent for about A$3. edit: nvm, can't actually purchase/rent movies, it says not found when trying to rent.

  • Is anyone having issues with the payment being decline? It has been working fine with Oldubil Credit Card for the past few months however today the payment was declined. I've tried putting in the Oldubil as a back-up payment but still doesn't work. The account still has money in it.

    • I have the same problem. Still have some money in there and somehow Google asked me to update my payment method. Any advice?

      • No idea. I've tried to request a new card from Oldubil however that also gives me an error. It states that my youtube premium will expire in two days time if I can't update my payment details…

  • Mine has been sweet for months and months.. Noticing adds have been popping up here and there. Anyone else with premium via Turkish account getting the same things?
