Great speakers, but pretty expensive. I have a Sonos Play:5 (Gen 2) that I bought from a deal posted here a number of years ago for just a little over $500, and it costs $629 here after the discount code. I always regret that I didn't buy two from that deal.
Well even my plate of fried rice now cost $17 and was less than $10 2 years ago. So 500 to 629 seems reasonable

Except that Play: 5, Gen 2, came out in 2015, 8 years ago. With that logic, we should be paying more for electronics (mobile phones, laptops and TVs etc) that came out 8 years ago, right?

I have gen 1 bookshelf symfonisks with a gen 1 beam and the new sub mini. Sounds great in my bedroom.

I use it with my sonos arc, works really well. Got the stands too, you wouldn't know it was ikea unless you saw the small tag. I think the interior is the same as sono play?

it depends on what you want.
if you want convenient and no fuss set up and with reasonable sound, Sonos is good.
if you are after impressive sounding music or home theatre speakers, look elsewhere.

You mean LS50? Think you’re confusing the 350 with the Q350 that has been on sale recently, if I’m not being mistaken.
And with every person that asks for recommendations they should listen to various speakers before buying. Everyone had a personal preference as to what they like the sound of.

most people would agree the LS50 Metas sound awesome. if your hearing is not 'normal', go listen first
@Serpeant: Yeah but if you're spending $1700 on a pair of speakers you might want to listen to a few pairs before paying the money from an online retailer.
I recommended the kef ls50 for a mate sometime last year. He loves them, and bought the matching sub with it. Though he still went and listened to others speakers before as a comparison.

The only comparable soundbar is the Sonos Arc with Gen 3 sub separately
Sonos arc package is over 1k more. I just could not justify especially when the Samsung had better reviews for sound quality
Agreed, I got the Q990B instead for $999 as it has better Dolby Atmos performance. Forgot to also mention the two rears that you'll need that won't be upfiring like the Samsung unless you buy two Era 300's for use as rear speakers.
Note, Sonos also require an iPhone or iPad to be able to calibrate to your room which was also a factor in my decision making.

ARC and sub? ARC and ERA 300? or can I just get 2 x ERA 300s and do same thing? Just want nice surround sound at the living room.
Arc + Sub3 + 2xEra300 rears is the best current surround sound HT setup for Sonos IMO. I have this and it's great.

Surround sound means that there are rear speakers to compliment the sound from the TV. So at the very least, you need a soundbar + 2 rear speakers. This system can improve with a sub (subwoofer) to add more bass. The larger the speakers, the better the sound.
So in order of budget, here are some options.
- Ray (soundbar) + 2 x ERA 100
- Beam (soundbar) + 2 x ERA 100
Arc (soundbar) + 2 x ERA100
Ray (soundbar) + 2 x ERA 300
- Beam (soundbar) + 2 x ERA 300
- Arc (soundbar) + 2 x ERA300
Any of the above + a Sub or a Sub Mini would improve the bass.

How big of a difference would you say as an average normie watching anything can expect from the Ray 2 x 100 ERA setup vs the Arc and 2 x 300 ERA?
I'm kinda feeling this is one of those where the most basic setup will work but is the upgrade worth the overkill cause it's on a 30$ discount where im just watching a casual movie at home.

Probably not, make more sense to go up to an arc
I have both. Cannot tell the difference between the two, so not really worth the upgrade.

Nice one OP. Got two Era 300s as surrounds. Means I haven't had to use my upgrade 30% and can save that for another day! Glad I got in early before it expired.
I was sorely tempted but in the end I have to remind myself my two surround Ones are doing a good enough job and I don't watch enough movies to justify it lol

I managed to purchase a speaker this morning. Just checked my bank acc and there's no 'pending' transaction :(
Same, they havent deducted funds. But have received order confirmation email.
Which is odd, as almost all online stores deduct funds as soon as the order is placed.
Based on past orders from Sonos this is normal, if you login to your account and check your order it will tell you the dispatch date (mines 01/05/23) in the past it will charge your cc as soon as it’s about to ship out.
Fingers crossed they let them ship out!
