Last time Apple did this, my sister’s phone got bricked. Apple replaced it though so all good. Perhaps it’s worth considering the risk if someone avails this offer from a 3rd party. Good deal though for anyone who’s brave enough to take that risk!

    • I've personally had a pretty good experience at BuzzTech but fair point!

Same thing happened to me years ago with a 6s. They replaced it too.

Wow I had this happen a few months ago and thought it would've been a freak occurrence

Sounds like it's more common than I thought. otherwise they are too lazy and would just rather replace it with a refurbished unit.

Mine made it out of the Apple Store and then completely died after 24 hours

        • mine they checked for water and screen damage, wasn’t any so they swapped me a new phone rather than replace the battery …… was at apple store genius bar ……

Unless those batteries prior iPhone 8 were manufactured within the last 2 years I don't see a point in getting it replaced unless the battery is truly dead. But considering it is free I guess it doesn't hurt to get the older devices replaced.

I'm not too sure whether their batteries are as good as OEM.i replaced my Iphone Se battery at Apple store and Imho its worth it,

Damn. Worth a trip to Geelong if you have the time

What's the catch ? My nudes?

It depends, post a few here and we can then decide…..

What's in it for this business?

    • Maybe seeing if they can upsell you on other services while you're there (e.g replacement screen if you're there to get a battery but have a cracked screen/cases)

I've got an 2016 iPhone SE (1st gen) still works fine running iOS 15.7.5,
however I suspect their iPhone SE refers to the 2020 (2nd gen).

    Sigh …

Man I would love a battery replacement (77% battery health) but it’s just too risky to go with a third party battery… they don’t have a warranty or something do they?

  • For iPhone XR/XS/XS Max, 11/11Pro/11Pro Max, no battery health will be shown unless they are Apple IRP (Independant Repair Program) participant. Even if it's Apple original battery, no battery health will be displayed unless they do system configuration via Apple system.
To display the battery health, there are two methods. 1. System configutaiton. Only ARP and IRP can do it. 2. tranfer original flex from old battery. This means only battery core is new and other components are old. But, I don't expect they do it at free.

  • is there a limit to 1 per customer?

got to Geelong @ 12:30, and no batteries for XR & iphone 11….. sad

    • LMFAO, im so sorry but laughing my ass off

    • What happened? Ran out that early?

      • +1

yea, they said XR & iphone 11 is popular model, so they ran out…
maybe they have quota how many batteries for free….

        • Got to Geelong at 3:25 and they had iPhone 11PM batteries in stock and agreed to put my iPhone 8+ battery on back order for free. Maybe I had a different guy but if you just asked nicely they said you can just bring it in the day after(today) as long as you locked in the free order at the promo time.
