Australia Vs India Cricket World Test Championship Final Live and Free @ 7plus and Channel 7

1962

Blockbuster World test championship final match between Australia and India, at The Oval starting on June 7, will be broadcast on free-to-air television in Australia. So no need for a subscription this time around

The one-off Test match on neutral turf at The Oval in south London from June 7 will be shown live and free on Seven, and streamed on the network's digital service, 7plus.

The previous WTC final in 2021, when New Zealand beat India, was shown on Foxtel and Kayo Sports, -so for the first time, everyone gets to watch the final.

Might possibly be the first time Ponting and Gilchrist have shared a commentary booth since they were part of the Ten network's Big Bash coverage between 2013 and 2017.
First time World test championship live on free to air TV
First time Australia in world test championship final
Might be first time Aus and Ind have faced off in England for a test match (can't remember any other instance).
Enjoy.

7news is free to watch too

    • +13

Yes, it is. 7 news comes every day. This is for the first time ever

      • +18

Because australia is playing. Lots of ad revenue to be had. Not from the goodness of their heart. Its a strategic calculated decision with profits in mind.
Get ready to be flooded with kfc, HJ, ubereats and menulog ads every 2 min

        • +15

You forgot booze and betting ads.

          • +1

@Royale with cheese: Haha i did
            Every bet wins.

          • +18

@Royale with cheese: Good point. Both booze and betting ads should not be shown with any sports coverage on TV as lot of kids with impressionable minds watch it. Ban them just like tobacco ads. Long overdue in my opinion.

            • +4

@auto459: At least now they are saying "you win some, you lose more" than the generic fastest ever sentence on tv about gambling help.

            • @auto459: Totally agree. Should have been atopped years ago. But now its me tioined dhring broadcast even . Netween their sentences f rediculous

          • +3

@Royale with cheese: "Gamble responsibly, but please do gamble!!"

        • It's a test match, the ads will come at the ends of an over, use that time to do as you please…

        • -2

You wouldn't belive how indian tv channels run ads on a live cricket game. As soon as last bowl is bowled they run to press the ad button. Sometimes people miss what happens in last ball bowled because they go into break too quick. And every over they run it to last second. Coming back from break often first bowl is already bowled. Its a joke

          • @Notacommie: And? Where do you think all the money in world cricket comes from? Its certainly not ticket sales…..

      • -5

This is for the first time ever

        What's is?

        • +2

          This is. Cheers :)

          • -4

@ozwolf: Umm test cricket has been on FTA since they started showing cricket on TV.

So what is first time ever?

            • +1

@M00Cow: Please read the full original post. Plenty of first times ever

              • -1

@ozwolf: Umm i have, I still can't see what the first is? I'm guessing neither can you.

                • +1

@M00Cow: Umm okay. Keep reading the original post a couple of times. You might find the word "first" mentioned a few times.

        • +3

The first time a World Test Championship final has been shown on FTA

Also the first time Aus have made the final

  • -6

    cue the
they should be paying us to watch a full length test

    • +5

No such thing as a full length test anymore…
      specially if warner is playing.

      • +3

Because he'll get out cheaply and expose the middle order? Agreed

  • +23

Might even get to see a bit of cricket in between the ads

    • They never cut to ads during the overs, you won't miss any of the cricket

      • +1

They do play them on 75% of the screen sometimes so you won't miss the ads either

  • +8

Free constant advertisements too. Can't wait.

  • +14

    OzTVGuide

  • Will it be SD or UHD

    • +1

It will be HD, no UHD on terrestrial TV or the equivalent apps in Aus

  • +7

Still trying to figure what the actual deal is…….

    • +4

A sports program interrupted by ads.

      B A R G A I N

      • +5

You mean ads interrupted by a little bit of cricket ?

      • +3

Sport? Sure. For the batter and bowler

Cricket is only an excuse to be somewhere other than where you should be. For a long time.

    • +1

Have no time to spend money while watching TV.

    • Not having to give Kayo/fox/Murdoch money?

  • +8

I'm amazed FTA TV is still a thing…

    • +2

I dont have an antenna anymore
We havent watched FTA for over 3 years

      • Same, stopped using the antenna around 18 months ago. Hardly ever watch anything on the commercial channels, maybe the odd rugby league game. Every now and again I'm amazed to see that rubbish like Sunrise and Today are still airing with the same old presenters and still have an audience.

    • +1

Tomato sauce is free with every meal at maccas!

  • +4

Don’t forget to combine this free-to-air deal with free air.. 👍👍

  • Highlights will be a pain to watch

  • +14

People will neg this, but I was gonna sub to kayo for a month for this, so it saved me $25

    • +3

Nobody here pays $25 for Kayo. I'm currently getting it for $5. But I agree, it's good to know if you like cricket.

      • +2

How U getting it for $5

        • -4

I stopped using it and they kept sending me deals, this one was $5/month for 3 months. At the time, I was on an introductory deal using my wife's phone number but when that ended, I switched across.

I turned down $0 for one month to use the $5 for 3 months.

Got to play hard to get a little bit to get these deals though.

          • @kiriakoz: I'm getting negged for getting Kayo for $5 and explaining how? Fair enough, I guess.

          • @kiriakoz: I was pretty annoyed to not get that offer (this one - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/767434), I was offered 50% off and one month free but never $5 a month. I'd pay that to avoid the ads between overs.

            • @freefall101: Ahhh, thanks, I missed the actual deal on OzBargain, but I got it sms'ed to me.

          • +7

@kiriakoz: Didn't downvote you but it isn't really useful for people who use it all year round, its also targeted, doesn't happen to every account that isn't being used, I have a second account that hasn't been offered a deal in over 2 years

            • @freoleo: I appreciate some people use it year round, but I'm a bargain hunter first. Happy to have a few months off Kayo every so often if it means I continue getting it for a good price.

Odd that your second account hasn't gotten a deal in that long. Do you log into it occasionally? Maybe it looks at the number of logins etc, not sure why otherwise.

    • Get a boost sim with a couple of dollar profit, use it to sign up for a kayo free trial, watch the test with fewer ads.

      • Is the test going to be on Kayo? 7 are saying they have digital exclusivity?

        • It will be on Kayo too without the adverts if you have it.

          • +1

@kiriakoz: No it won't, its exclusive to 7

The Ashes will only be on 9 too

            • @freoleo: I think you're right actually. I re-Googled it. A lot of websites said Kayo, but I reckon they might've meant the previous one or their wrong. There's a lot of incorrect information, I'm part of the problem.

  • Also free: go outside look at the sky

    • +2

      But there arent any ads

      • +2

Cue the blimps. (profanity) short sighted politicians would too.

  • Why does it say in 17 Days?
Wasn't it supposed to be middle of the year like June?

    • +12

      June starts in 11 days.

      • Shot uce 🤙 thanks g

    • +11

It's May 2023, but I rate your commitment in making OzBargain your first destination in what must've been a pretty severe coma.

    • Umm.. it was a joke..
      Nevermind :)

      • Now now, remember: jokes are funny. That's the first and only rule.

  • +1

Is this like the world cup of test cricket??

    • No. It is a test between the top 2 ranked teams based on test performances over a year or something.

    • +4

No it’s a pointless match to try and market a dying format in Test Cricket

  • Good thing is its also available on 7plus, i m not getting any local channels. I assume it requires us to sign-up to 7 plus before we can watch it…

  • What's the Catch?

    • Swing and through to the keeper.

  • +2

Does this deal stack with free radio coverage of the match as well?

    • +1

no but there is a bundle deal with Farmer Wants a Wife.

      • TVs already full of betting ads, now ladies for hire fits right in i guess

  • -1

New Zealand’s reign as World Test Champions finally comes to an end…

  • So India and Aus are playing a final in the world cup… and it's in freaking England :(

Way to screw us on the timezones!

    • +1

Actually it’s the ideal time zone as you can watch it after work. The pitch will definitely suit Aussie bowling line up

      • 7pm to 3am is hardly ideal for the east coast. I wonder what they'll do if the final is ever AU vs NZ, no one would watch it.

Will be interesting to see how they prepare the pitch, the poms are asking for wickets that suit their Bazball play so it might be a bit of fun for the batsmen out there. But with Bumrah out basically any pitch besides the shockers they prepared in India will be better for Australia, and with most of the Indian side currently getting IPL practice with the Aussies getting more county practice it should be our game to lose. In which case, we'll probably lose it.

      • +1

Why will it suit the Aussie line up? Indian have proven they are better on fast pitches than Australia in the last 5 or so years

  • -8

This is not free. 7 will sting your ears and eyeballs with ads so badly that you have paid for this with time off your life. No bargain.

  • Yeah now we are going to free sports .
At least it`s not as bad as the movie pollution .
Series next ? Conor McGregor on Netflix's . I luv the ability of his promotions . Luv the Dude .

  • -8

    How is this a bargain?

Also the channel 7 streams and broadcast are horrible quality.

  • Advertising?

  • Crictime.com with ads blocked works just fine and decent quality. Without the ads most of the time

  • Kerry Packer would be turning his grave at whats happened to the Australian broadcasting rights.

  • Please tell me it will be on Kayo regardless?

    • Doesn't look like it, it's being advertised as exclusive rights to 7 and 7plus

Foxtel don't care about cricket as much during the AFL/NRL seasons, probably don't pick up enough extra subscribers to justify the price tag buying the coverage

When those sports are in the off season then cricket keeps those fans subbed

  • https://www.yourtv.com.au/guide/ Add a post for every show listed.

    • -1

      They are all bargains!

  • Think I'll stick to the foxtel coverage

  • +1

As predicted, feed now clogged up with free videos. Can this just be in a forum please.

  • Why hasn't 9 with the French Open been posted as a bargain?
I can't even get it on Foxtel Sports .
