  • I've always been with a major provider. (Vodafone, Telstra) and am currently way over paying on telstra basic plan p/m with price hikes due July.

    Any notable issues with moving to a smaller company like Amaysim or even Boost? I know they just use some subset of the towers of the larger providers, but apart from that do people find them any less reliable? (How about customer support?) Ta!

    • Amaysim does not use Telstra, they use Optus

      Boost uses the entire Telstra network I believe, Woolworths mobile uses wholesale.

      Amaysim have a great app that handles everything you’d need.

      Customer service from Telstra and Optus is appalling so moving would be an upgrade.

    Live chat unwilling to help. Might as well just take my business elsewhere completely. Been with Amaysim for years now and they won't budge an inch lol.

    EDIT: Got a bit snarky about being a long term customer and was offered 25% off, followed by the actual 50% off upon pushing further. Got the $100/180gb deal as a current Amaysim customer but forfeited the cashback cause I couldn't be bothered porting.

    • The Boost 28 days 55GB $40 sim is only $15 with $15 CB at CR and today is the last day. Get that and port over to Boost and then port back to Amaysim.

      • I did and it's on the way, though I wanted to know if I could take the lazy route and just stay with Amaysim 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣

        No, doesn't apply when changing plans - you always lose it. Bye bye 1TB+ of data for me that I never needed or used anyway 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • Does the discounted renewal kick in at expiry of the current plan or does it take effect right away and you lose any remaining days on the current plan?

      • I got $100 credit to my account to activate the year long deal once I'm ready, seeing as I already had renewed $30 5 days ago.

      • Takes effect immediately. I gave up a couple of days which I'm happy with to save me the hassle. But probably could have waited until the last day to activate the renewal.

    • I've been an Amaysim customer for nearly a year and I did receive the 25% off discount on renewal, however, the live chat doesn't seem to push further for a 50% off

        You need to be proactive and mention you already received the 25% off but only interested in current 50% off offer that you could get if you were to port out and back in - you've got plenty of time until 29/05.
        I didn't have to argue or threaten them to leave - pretty easy interaction

      • My longer time with them just might have been the defining factor then.. I did convey being pissed off that long term customers don't receive any sort of gratification for loyalty lol.

  • Does Amaysim support wifi calling? Not all ISP has it.

    • Yes it does. It supports Vo-Wifi & Vo-LTE.

    • For boost, that was through Telstra if someone is interested. It worked automatically when I was overseas with a local esim

    Good deal, my 11 year old is 12 tomorrow and he has his 1st phone waiting for him. I got him a $1 for 3 months sim but will now use the 12 month plan here and activate on 18th June. Perfect price, especially if cashback tracks on shopback

        Thanks…Its a daily struggle. He has a tablet and i time limit it as much as i can. Both my kids at home still are active sports wise so it does give them some extra leeway but….its a daily struggle

  • I am currently with Amaysim. Does anyone know if I can select a new number to order the SIM ?. I can port out and port back in before 15th June. Not sure if it would allow me to port the number if I select a new number while ordering.

      I just got told no

      You can choose port your number now and then change your mind to a new number when you activate

      You cannot choose a new number now then change it to a port when the sim arrives

      I don't know if that is accurate or not but that's what they just told me on chat

        • Crap. I read otherwise in a previous thread. Fortunately, the phone is dual sim so I can juggle multiple sim cards for the next 12 months. Will have to be extremely careful to not let the sim expire completely and loose my number.

      Worked without problems. Number already activated.

    Sorry bit confusing. It says 50% on renewal, does it mean full price ($120) for the first year and $60 for renewal next year?

      I agree the wording is awful, first renewal means 50% off on initial first year, subsequent years at full price. Which is completely incorrect use of the word renewal.

  • Is anyone getting a 'transferring number failed' when trying to purchase for a number that is still currently with amaysim (plan to port out then back in)?

      You cannot transfer within the same provider.

    • I am in the same boat and unsure if I can use the sim to port the number if I select new number.

      • I dont believe so, i asked and they pretty much said tough luck if you want to purchase for a current number and its not ported out (yet)

      Porting is done by you, so you'll have to remember the date and do it yourself.

  • What are people getting tracked for using shopback? Its says $35 for the higher 2 plans but their conditions dont show the coupon code. Whereas for cashrewards, it is clear that it is $10.50 and allows the use of the 50% code

      • It automatically applies the FLASHMLE code in the webiste and its listed on cashrewards. But on shopback there is no mention of this deal. Hence why they could say they dont honour the $35 cashback

    I bought for my gf and filled in details to keep the number. It’s said to have to activate in amysim app. I havent done so (expecting to activate on 15June - also waiting for sim delivery) but her number turned SOS.

    Did I buy it wrong? Should’ve not filled the “keep number”?

      As far as I know you have to initiate number transfer process via either app or on website after login into your account and it also involves authorizing transfer via entering code which you get via text message on old active number, so it can not happen like that. May be have a chat with amaysim support first to check if they have your number and if not contact your existing provider to check. Good luck mate….

        I contacted Amaysim and they said number porting has not been initiated yet from their end. Not sure why my gf's Kogan number is already disabled. Will need to wait for her to get home so I can contact Kogan from her app.
        Anyone got issue porting out of Kogan before btw?

    Just confirmed with LiveChat, i can purchase the sim and activate after July. I have saved the chat history to back up the claim if there is any issue when activating after July.

    • Mate - did you select transfer my number or new number? If new number, is it possible to port your existing number to this new SIM post mid Jun? I am in the same boat as you, with my existing plan expiring in late Jul'23.

      I also chatted them about this and was told the sim would either activate automatically on 15 June if using a new number (seems unlikely?) or would not work at all (be voided) if you tried to activate it by porting your existing number after 15 June (however I had to ask the question multiple times and got a yes before a final no, so I wouldn't trust either answer as being certain).

      • So basically if you try to activate after 15 June, you've wasted $100? Or can you get a refund if you can't activate?

        Seems something ACCC should look into.

        • Given that it's in their T&C that you must activate before 15 June, I'm not sure what liability they would have if you didn't do that? I was wanting to clarify how strict they are with that date, but given that I couldn't get an answer that I'm reassured by either way, I'm going to pass on this deal as it doesn't suit my date requirements and I'm not prepared to risk it or activate it by 15 June just in case (but it's still a good deal if you need a service by then).

  • Does anyone else have issues sending text using Amaysim (eSIM)? My text messages could not be delivered for days in a few occasions. That had never happened with another operator.

    Tried with both Android and iPhone, and with two different Amaysim numbers. Both eSIM though if that matters.
