  • Do any of these plans have any unlimited calls to the Philippines?

    • The $75 6 monthly one.

  • +1

is there cons if I port in my number into eSIM? Can I change back to physical sim if I want to port out?

  • Is anyone else considering taking the 25% off? After some mucking around trying to figure it out am considering it :/

  • This or a free 6 months with Telstra rewards and Belong 🤔

    • Where did you get free 6 months?

      • Telstra Rewards.

        • Using maths the Belong deal is cheaper.

    • Ar you referring to the $80 Belong starter pack from Telstra Rewards? If this is the one then how would it last for 6 months? With $20 referral credit then you get $100 credit. Activate on $25/month plan then change to $19/month plan (cheapest available). Then you would get 5 months with Belong (need to pay $1 for the last month).

Had chat with Shopback and rep said that Shopback do not approve that code so no cachback from them.

    • +1

now waiting for @TA to up the rate from CR…just like Black Friday last year

    • I asked Shopback and they have no idea..lol! The agent escalated the issue and said they would email me in about an hour or so.
Fingers crossed for CR to up the cashback!

    • The thing is if you buy it via SB, there is no code required (or the code has been applied automatically?) so why SB doesn't approve? It just doesn't make sense.
      (my bad, code is required)

      • +1

But when purchasing via SB, we don't need to put in the code manually. Also it seems we can't remove the promo code when purchasing. So I still hope SB would approve the cashback.

      • The code is applied, you can see it in the link https://www.amaysim.com.au/mobile/cart/long-expiry-180gb?promo=FLASHMLE.
And also on the right side of the order summary.

        FLASHMLE
        -$100.00
Limited 50% off offer! Now only $100 for first renewal. Ongoing is $200/year. New mobile services only. Promo terms apply.

        • +2

Yes I understand. But the point is the link via SB website has included the promo code automatically. I can't remove the promo code from the link via SB. It would be unfair to a customer who doesn't notice this. But anyway, it is just my hope. I did ask Shopback agent to check my account and I was told the cashback will be tracked within 2 days. Maybe nothing in the end.

          • @fornever: Yes, it's really up to them as they have the last say. Hope you get the cashback track!

          • @fornever: Exactly my thoughts. It's not our fault. I bought it through Shopback app and didn't enter any code manually. If doesn't track after 2 days I'll talk to the support and if they deny cashback I won't download and activate the eSim and apply for a refund. I'll go through Cashrewards then. Hopefully Shopback will up their game this time, it's direct competition with CR.

            • @SuperLate: I received $10.5 for 180GB plan via Shopback yesterday morning before they reduced rate. Should I ask SB about $35 cashback?

              • @fornever: I got $10.50 tracked as well on 60gb plan. Should've been $17.50 though. I'll contact SB as well.

                • @SuperLate: Have you heard back from SB regarding the rate? I haven't :(

                  • @fornever: I just noticed SB has changed my cashback to $35 instead of previous $10.5.

                    • @fornever: Yes, just noticed my has been changed to 17.50 as well. Good job SB.

  • Thanks OP!!!

I had two services expiring today that I was about to take to Woolworths Mobile (10% off shop is very appealing and probably represents better value)

Initially, they only offered me 25%, but I was able to threaten a port and to port back in and then he agreed.

    Glenn R 10:26 AM
Regarding the promo, I can offer the 50% off but you do have to upgrade the plan to $200 - 180GB to take effect as currently you are on $200 - 165GB and also for you to not transfer the number out and transfer it back in.

    • No cashback though

Does anyone know if you can receive SMS while overseas with Amaysim? I don't need to make calls, send SMS or use data, just receiving text for 2FA purposes.

I used Kogan previously and I was able to receive SMS I think.

    • Should be able to

      • Thanks mate, was that from experience or?

        • +1

From experience, although I was with Optus direct at the time and not Amaysim.

    • I've just asked on the chat, as I'm in same situation.
Receiving SMS overseas is free with our roaming service.

All you need to do is log in to amaysim mobile app. Once you've opened the app, click the cog in the top right corner of the home screen to access your plan settings - from here you can manage to switch the 'international roaming' on/off.

      • Thanks! Do you need to purchase their roaming pack to have this feature turned on?

        • +2

No, it's a pre requisite for the roaming packs I understand, but it's free to receive text. If you want to send or make call then you need a pack. I've turned roaming on while in Australia and they send you an email to explain what's next

  • Did an online chat with an existing Sim that happens to expire in 2 days time. They wouldnt extend it for $60 for another 12 months and advised I would need to get a new sim/new number to take advantage of this promo.

Im ok with that as its for a ipad not a phone - so just data, but it seems a bit inefficient

    "Ker M 12:42:38 pm

thank you for reaching out about the promo we are having, it just so happens that the promo on the website is for new numbers being registered to amaysim, what you can do is you'd like to take advantage of the promo is for you to try purchasing a new plan with a new number. "

    • Oh well, that’s what it’s like with most of companies tbh. To get a discount you need to get as a new deal.

    • +1

Yep amaysim forgot to give them the heads up obviously

    • Good as long as Shopback could track my purchase this morning :)

    • Someone above mentioned that Cashrewards also offering cashback on Amaysim. Looks like the same cashback amount as what the Shopback rep said, so I guess we can use either Shopback or Cashrewards to get cashback on this promo?

      Cashrewards:
      $200 12-month Long Expiry Plan with 180GB $10.50
      $120 12-month Long Expiry Plan with 60GB $7
      $150 6-month Long Expiry Plan with 150GB $7

Promo code FLASHME is listed on Cashrewards.

    • Anybody got a screenie of the rates before they reduced it?

  • shopback didn't track my purchase.

    • Wait for 2 days then report a missing casback.

  • has anyone had any experiences porting from straight Optus prepaid to Amaysim? I don't mind waiting as long as it works!

  • 180gb not showing $35 cashback, does anyone has a link?

  • +1

seems both cashrewards and shopback have reduced all their cashback offers now

  • also, can we use the referral codes to get some referral bonus

    • Cashback is ineligible on the following:

      • Recharges to existing services.
      • SIMs bought from retail stores/outlets, or via amaysim’s mobile app.
      • amaysim refer-a-friend (RAF) sales.
  • How are existing amaysim customers getting the 50% discount? Theyre only offering 25% discount for me

      • Thanks!

      • Do you think trying live chat again will help? Already chatted twice this morning (first time offered 25% off, second time was to ask why i couldnt purchase for an existing amaysim number —was planning to port out then back in, but apparently cant purchase until its actually ported out)

        • I just went with the 25% off. I couldn't be bothered porting in and out.

          • @FrugalFrodo: May I ask did your plan renew straight away or will the plan end and this kicks in after? I am on the $149/year Woolies Amaysim plan (that ends in 2 months time)

            • @Rain Cloud: Started immediately.

              • @sanT17: I've spoken to chat and was offered the discounted price. I asked them whether the plan would start straight away or when my existing one ends (at the end of June). They told me the new discounted $60 or 2 months plan would start when my existing plan ends. I hope that’s correct. Anyway I have the screenshot of the chat as proof.

                • @McBargain: That’s good, looks like their support team is working independently and based on their mood, I’ve been told to start the plan immediately. As well as my data couldn’t carry as I was on a different plan before.

                • @McBargain: Was this using your existing mobile number or new number? My plan will start after my current plan expires on the same number

                  • @FrugalFrodo: Same mobile number. Sound like they're giving me the same thing that they're offering you. They just told me to turn auto renewal on in the App and when the existing plan expires, the new plan should come into effect (hopefully at a discounted price of $50). Fingers crossed it will go smoothly.

        • They ended up offering me 50% off and I was given the choice to get it straight away or wait until closer to my old plan expiry. I chose the latter as I still have 2 months to go on old plan. I asked how I could see the discount on my account, I was told that there was a banner on 'manage plan' that said '50% off $200 unlimited 180gb', took awhile to find it but it was there. They said when I go and change to the $200 plan (am on another plan) closer to the date the discount should automatically apply, and if I had any issues they could help in livechat at that point. Made a screenshot of my account with the 50% off banner and also sent the chat transcript to my email in case I have any issues down the track.

    • +1

I got 50% on first try. I mentioned I got 2 sms with 25% offer this month which I didn't accept yet, but was pondering churning out, but happy to stay for 50%. They asked me a copy of the sms.

      • I used the same technique and I got a 50% off on my renewal. My plan was expiring in a few days and I had no data left 😄

  • I'm currently paying $31.50 on an optus grandfathered plan with 30gb/month.

Is it a big hassle to port in and port out of these yearly plans?

Any downsides or is the cost saving too big to pass up here?

    • I'm tossing between this and circles life 30gb/$10 per month. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/763891
The promo code is still valid.
      Ended up with circles life

      • I'm tossing between this and circles life 30gb/$10 per month

just note that the speeds are capped at 25/2 mbps

        • Just ported mine over to circle and did a speed test 70/15mbps

    • +1

From my experience porting is just filling in an online form, reading through a few automated text messages and then just waiting an hour or so. Pick a quiet week day to do this if you're afraid of additional delays. Avoid a weekend if you can because some companies don't port during weekends.

Annual pre-paid plans have generally been cheaper than monthly post-paid plans for the inclusions people typically need (and actually use). The one-time payment means no need to worry about extra monthly bills. The major downside would be disciplining yourself to not use up your annual data quota as it doesn't refresh at the start of the month as with post-paid plans.

      • Is there a limit for coming back as a new customer in amaysim? I know Kogan needs to port out for one month. How about amaysim? Thanks

  • Anyone know if the $2 boost sim can be use to port out number? I know that some $2 sim will not be activated without a recharge.

  • I asked Catch Connect to cancel my order, they sent a request and will let me know via email.

  • Can Amaysim gift data to another Amaysim account?

  • What happened if you activate after 15 June?

    • Was wondering that too, my Boost plan doesn’t expire until August.

    • +1

I was on chat, told them I want to port over in mid july. They said it's fine to activate and port mid july.
There a chance that there will be no SB or CR cashback though.

  • Does anyone know how to purchase this with exsiting amaysim number? The website dont allow the exsiting number to purchase, only option is get new number which means I cant port out and port in?
    Thanks

  • +1

Chat #3 was a success! Got 50% off and it is listed as a discount on 'manage account' so I can get the 180GB plan for $100 closer to my plan expiry date (as I am still 2 months to plan expiry and bit reluctant to give that up). Happy camper!

    • Any date when it expires? I might try for something similar

      • It actually says it expires in May 2024! But will be using it by August.

        • wow hahaha

  • can I use these SIM for my iPad cellular?

    • Of course, it’s just you won’t be able to use for calls. Only data.

      • I purchased the esim 60gb plan for the 2021 ipad mini cellular. But it could not connect to internet and keep saying "Could not activate mobile data network. You are not subscribed to a mobile data service. Use Wi-Fi or view mobile data options in Settings".

        How to fix this?

Should I purchase Data Only plan?

        • That’s strange. I have a Boost sim in my iPad and it works absolutely fine.

  • Anyone know if it's possible to get QR code for esim option?

    • Yes you get QR code right after purchase

  • -1

hi anyone knows if i can use international roaming with the credit and dont activate any plan on it?

  • 666 upvotes noice

  • shopback didn't track my purchase.

  • cashrewards didn't track my purchase either.

    • is yours still not tracked? mine neither, very strange, normally cashrewards is pretty quick in tracking

  • I literally bought the woolies deal last week for $100/365 for the $120 and just opened it tonight.. :(

  • +1

they run this every half year… bought one last nomvember, expiring in 190 days..

  • Catch refunded. Amaysim bought.

Please let there not be a cheaper/better value deal than this for annual plan anytime soon XD

    • They didn't refund me. What did you use as a reason?
