What’s makes this a “refurbished” laptop and not a “used” one? I see the term refurb used quite often these days.

Is refurbished just another term for giving a used item after a quick wipe and a check it turns on?

In my mind refurbished units would have a new battery but at worst an excellent battery life. A good battery sounds like what you get in a used / second hand laptop, hardly a refurbishment IMO.

    • Originally, it meant items returned to the factory for a new shell and battery. So like new.

But "originally" a Villa was a country mansion on a large estate. Then salesmen came along, and it means a grotty little 2-bedroom strata unit.

So "refurbished" now means 1/2 of f-all. Unless you take it to mean something about the character of the salesman. I would hope that [Used] would indicate a more honest seller.

Yeah and not even photo of the real item… another post when people complain the shop (not this, different) said we bought hundreds its impossible to do x,y… well, they want profit but dont want to work? So my theory is:
They bought a peanut price, sell at profit, do little wipe and when few unlucky people complaining just give full refund and throw that item away. At the end still making profit, easy work.

        • So, so, so correct. Too hard to check them all? It's your job!

        • Yep. For anecdote, I got one from ACT. Looked perfect. But no Wifi - turns out it was not broken, just disabled in the BIOS.
Wasted a lot of my time, but proved they do not test the laptops, just clean, and install Windows. If it boots, it ships.

Another machine was badly not as described. They refund and pay all post, but it is still a pain. I guess you just need to factor it in to the price.

    • Cleaned, and ssd wiped and win 11 installed.
      I assumed tested, who knows.

The Dells are grade C, so well used…

  • Refurbished=used

  • weight?

    • Around 1.33kg.

  • The grade is b which means:

B: The product which are classified as B have minimal marks or scratches. They are close to new.

    • +2

These will be nothing similar to close to new.

    • Close to new would be grade A.

  • Monitor, please do us a favor and call it Dealer Used.

  • Windows 11 64 bit

Is the installation media/digital download key included?

    • No, but with all these laptops, you can download the latest ISO from microsoft and install it yourself very easily.
      It will activate automatically.
