Welcome to the ultimate guide of Netflix subscriptions

Updates:

  • 27/06/23 2pm – Turkish Lira have crashed even more, so I've corrected all prices in this guide!
    • Original deal post rates: Basic TL₺63.99 (~A$4.06), Standard TL₺97.99 (~A$6.22), Premium TL₺130.99 (~A$8.31)
  • 07/07/23 2am – Updated FAQ section to include all error codes as a result of the 30-day local restriction lockout.
  • 08/07/23 11pm – Updated Instructions section to include a new sign up method via OlduBil's Turkish Virtual Mastercard (Instructions – Method #2), with screenshots (tested and confirmed). I'll be drafting another set of instructions to separate Method #1 (Part 2) as another sign up method via a Turkey phone number. Stay tuned!

You probably know by now - if I make a guide, best believe it's going to be good and better than the previous one. Please show some love and any comments, concerns, suggestions or feedback are welcome :)

This new guide has now been updated to include:

  • problems related to new subscriber sign-ups to Netflix Turkey. Please read the FAQ section for further clarification.
  • new statistics in regards to pricing
  • screenshots at each necessary step of the sign up process (yes, I unnecessaily spent a chunk of money to test the local region lockout and to obtain screenshots to better guide everyone through the sign up process! I hope this helps - please see Instructions Part 3 for these screenshots)

Note that due to a recent and continuing crash in the Turkish Lira currency, the TRY-AUD is hitting an all time low. All prices in this guide are current as of 27 June 2023.

Netflix Post History Notes
09/06/2023 - This post Netflix Region Lock
28/01/2023 Price Hike
22/10/2022 Price Hike
14/06/2022 Price Hike
01/10/2021

Similar to my last post, I'm resharing this guide after previous deal post expired due to Netflix imposing a lock region lock. Luckily, there are no more price hikes for now, after having the third price hike for Turkey within a 10 month period.

  • Turkey is no longer the cheapest country for a Netflix subscription on all tiers, after they increased prices multiple times (Example: Premium plan from TL₺54.99 to TL₺77.99 to TL₺93.99 to TL₺130.99 in a span of just over a year).
    • However, obtaining a Turkey-based Netflix Gift Card is extremely easy and effortless, making it the easiest and therefore cheapest country to sign up with.
  • Pakistan is the cheapest country for all Netflix plans, however, obtaining a Pakistan-based Netflix Gift Card to sign up is almost impossible, so avoid this path.
  • NEW!! Netflix Argentina is now ARS999 (A$6.10) for the Basic Plan and ARS2,399 (A$14.64) for the Premium Plan (in the last Netflix post, Argentina prices were ARS699 (A$4.27) for the Basic Plan and ARS1,899 (A$11.59) for the Premium Plan - that's a 42.9% and 26.3% increase, respectively). The Argentina Peso has dropped, but plans are still more expensive.

Please note: If you DO NOT have a Turkey number, please sign up via instructions Part 1 and then Part 3. Avoid doing Part 2

There are plenty of previous threads on users commenting their experience. Please read it if you are stuck. See here and here and here and here and here

Instructions – Method #1 (If you want Netflix to charge your Australian debit/credit card each month)

Please read the following instructions carefully.

Part 1 - Ensure you have your Australian mobile number and debit/credit card saved in your account

Complete either steps (a) or (b), depending on your current situation

a. If you currently have an Australian Netflix subscription:

  1. Make sure your Australian mobile number is saved and verified in your account. See this screenshot

  2. Make sure your current or new debit/credit card is saved and verified in your account. If your payment method is PayPal, remove this immediately and replace it will a debit/credit card.

  3. Once you’ve triple checked your mobile is added and verified, simply cancel your subscription and wait until the end of the renewal period (i.e. keep watching until the sub expires. Don’t let your sub go to waste since you’ve already paid for it). Once your subscription has expired, go to Part 2 or Part 3

b. If you DO NOT have a current Australian subscription:

  1. Sign up and subscribe to any Australian Netflix plan (preferably the lowest cost basic plan - don’t worry, you’ll get your money back). Do not use PayPal to sign up, it must be a debit/credit card.

  2. Once you’ve signed up, make sure your Australian mobile number is saved and verified in your account. See this screenshot

  3. Make sure your current or new debit/credit card is saved and verified in your account.

  4. Once you’ve triple checked your mobile is added and verified, go to Netflix Live Chat and tell them you “would like a full refund since you’ve changed your mind” - they usually don’t ask why but if they do make up some random excuse like “my sibling just signed up” or “you don’t want it anymore” etc. This should be a very fast step and take you only several minutes. The account cancellation will be effective immediately and the refund will arrive in a few hours or days

  5. Once your subscription has expired (should be immediate as you’ve cancelled it for a refund through live chat), go to Part 2 or Part 3

Part 2 - Signing up via Netflix Turkey (Direct Method - No Gift Cards - MOST LIKELY TO FAIL - AVOID)

Please ensure your subscription has completely ended/expired before starting Part 2. It has completely ended when you can no longer watch anything and Netflix asks you to resubscribe or restart your membership

  1. With VPN off, log into your Netflix account

  2. Activate a VPN service, turn it on and set it to Turkey (Istanbul is the largest city). There’s many free VPN’s if you don’t have a subscription to one. Here's a few great VPNs that work:

    Nord VPN: https://nordvpn.com/
    Express VPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/
    PureVPN: https://www.purevpn.com/
    Windscribe VPN: https://www.windscribe.com/
    ExpressVPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/

Note: Use chrome browser plugins for these VPNs where possible

Possible Problem: You use Windscribe VPN and set it to Turkey, but it defaults to one of the cities of Turkey that is not Istanbul.
Possible Solution: You want it to land in Istanbul, Turkey, so keep turning off and on the VPN until it lands in Istanbul. Confirm it’s Istanbul by refreshing this page: https://whatismyipaddress.com/

  3. Open Netflix on a new tab and proceed to Netflix to choose your plan:

    https://www.netflix.com/

  4. Proceed by adding your Australian credit/debit card as the backup payment method

Possibly working cards from: 28 Degrees, ANZ Rewards, Citibank Debit, Macquarie

Possible Problem: If it asks for a Turkish mobile number, you will have to find a working one so they can send you verification. AFAIK, there is no way bypassing this and you will need to sign up via Part 3

Part 3 - Signing up via Netflix Turkey (Using Gift Cards if Part 2 Fails) - EASIEST METHOD

Please ensure your subscription has completely ended/expired before signing up to this deal (i.e. when you can no longer watch anything and Netflix asks you to resubscribe or restart your membership)

  1. Purchase a Turkey Netflix Gift Card (any value is fine, even if it's not enough to cover the full month)

Note: Choose a reputable seller and make an account so you have a record of the purchases if anything goes wrong. I recommend Turgame (I've bought Turkey Apple GC's from there and they have fast delivery (at night time AEST), they charge the same price as the gift card value and the payment gateway fee is very low) or g2a

  2. Once you’ve received your gift card, it’s time to redeem your gift card and sign up to Netflix Turkey at the same time. Make sure from Part 1 that you have not logged out. You must stay logged in to your Australian account. If you’ve logged out, please log back in now with VPN turned off (Logging into your Australian account with a VPN on gives an error)

  3. Activate a VPN service, turn it on and set it to Turkey (Istanbul is the largest city). There’s many free VPN’s if you don’t have a subscription to one. Here's a few great VPNs that work:

    Nord VPN: https://nordvpn.com/ (recommended, paid)
    Urban VPN: https://www.urban-vpn.com/ (recommended, free)
    Windscribe VPN: https://www.windscribe.com/ (recommended, free)
    Express VPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/
    PureVPN: https://www.purevpn.com/

Note: Use chrome browser plugins for these VPNs where possible

Possible Problem 1: If you use Windscribe VPN and set it to Turkey, sometimes it defaults to random serves and therefore random cities of Turkey that will give you the wrong pricing (ideally, you want Istanbul). In this case, keep turning off and on the VPN until it switches to a different server/location. Confirm the location by refreshing this page: https://whatismyipaddress.com/. If this fails, change your VPN provider.

  4. With VPN on, open a new tab and go to the following Netflix site to redeem your gift card See this screenshot:

    https://www.netflix.com/tr-en/redeem

Possible Problem: On the plan selection page, the currency is not in Turkish Lira
Possible Solution: The problem is due to your VPN. Double check or change your VPN if needed

Possible Problem: When redeeming the Turkey Netflix Gift Card, it gives an error (code invalid, etc)
Possible Solution: The problem is due to your VPN. Double check or change your VPN if needed. If after several VPNs and this issue still occurs, try to reach out to your place of purchase due to them possibly issuing you an incorrect code

  5. Follow the prompts of the sign up process. This screenshot will show the first page after applying the gift card. Click "Next" to land on this page. Choose the plan you want, then click "Next" to land on the payment page in step 6

  6. Proceed by choosing a backup payment method. Be careful with this step and look at the screenshot!

  • If you did Part 1 instructions correctly then your payment method is already saved within your account - in this case, press "skip this step" at the bottom. On the next page, click "Next" (see screenshot). Now Netflix will want to confirm your details to make sure it is correct as per (this screenshot). Double check, tick the checkbox and start your membership!

  • Otherwise, if for some reason you haven't done Part 1 correctly or your debit/credit card has expired, you will have to add a new debit/credit card (see screenshot). Beward this may prompt you for a Turkey number verification (which I guarantee you don't have otherwise you would have done Part 2) - if this happens, please complete Part 1 again (see fix below)

Possible Problem: After entering your debit/credit card details, it asks for a Turkish mobile number
Possible Solution: Two causes for this. Cause (1): the problem is due to your VPN - Double check or change your VPN if needed, then go back to step 4. Cause (2): This is because you've entered a new debit/credit card. In this case, please click back on your browser and avoid entering a new card by pressing "skip this step" at the bottom. If this option does not appear, please restart Part 1 and ensure you save the card you wish to use as a backup payment.

Possible Problem: My debit/credit cards keep declining, and I'm unable to subscribe
Possible Solution: It's likely the problem is due to your VPN. Double check or change your VPN if needed and restart the whole process. However, if VPN is not the problem, you can continue to subscribe without a backup payment method (i.e. start your subscription with just the Gift Card you bought), and then afterwards you can contact live chat and tell them you need to update your payment method by asking them to send a payment form popup (this will allow you to add a credit/debit card and save it into the account). If the agent refuses or has no idea what you’re trying to say, end the chat and start a new one.

Note: If you bought a gift card that has a higher value than your selected plan, you’ve just used your gift card to pay for the first month, as well as partially for the second month. For the second month, Netflix will deduct the remaining of the gift card, and the remaining balance will come out of the credit/debit card you’ve inputted, and from thereon each month Netflix will keep charging your bank at those rates (be aware many banks like Commonwealth Bank have a small international transaction fee but this is only a few cents extra. Suncorp and Latitude Platinum have no international fees). Besides this, you should be saving >$100 AUD each year at least ($200 saving annually for the premium plan)

  1. You’re done! Turn off your VPN and enjoy your subscription :)

Instructions – Method #2 (If you want Netflix to charge your OlduBil Turkish Virtual Mastercard each month)

Turkey-based Virtual Mastercard Required! If you do not have a Turkey-based Virtual Mastercard, see how to get one here in the instructions section (Part 1 and Part 2). You can use it forever, with many deals to come!

Please ensure your subscription has completely ended/expired before signing up to this deal (i.e. when you can no longer watch anything and Netflix asks you to resubscribe or restart your membership).

  1. Log in to your Australian Netflix account, or sign up for an account. Make sure you log in with VPN turned off (logging into your Australian account with a VPN gives an error).

  2. Activate a VPN service, and set it to Turkey (Istanbul is the largest city). There’s many free VPN’s if you don’t have a subscription to one. Here's a few great VPNs that work:

    Nord VPN: https://nordvpn.com/ (recommended, paid)
    Urban VPN: https://www.urban-vpn.com/ (recommended, free)
    Windscribe VPN: https://www.windscribe.com/ (recommended, free)
    Express VPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/
    PureVPN: https://www.purevpn.com/

Note: Use chrome browser plugins for these VPNs, where possible.

Possible Problem: If you use Windscribe VPN and set it to Turkey, sometimes it defaults to random serves and therefore random cities of Turkey that will give you the wrong pricing (ideally, you want Istanbul). In this case, keep turning off and on the VPN until it switches to a different server/location. Confirm the location by refreshing this page: https://whatismyipaddress.com/. If this fails, change your VPN provider.

  3. With VPN on, refresh the main netflix webpage. Alternatively, go to this link:

    https://www.netflix.com/tr-en/

Possible Problem: On the plan selection page, the currency is not in Turkish Lira
Possible Solution: The problem is due to your VPN. Double check and/or change your VPN if needed

  4. Click on "Restart Membership" and follow the prompts of the sign up process. Click "Next and then select the plan you want. Click "Next"and then click "Credit or debit card". Enter your OlduBil Virtual Mastercard details, full name, tick the T&Cs declaration, and then click "Start Membership".

  5. At this stage you're done. Don’t enter anything on this page. Netflix will ask some random questions (just to set up your account). After that, your account will be complete, and you can enjoy your subscription!

FAQ

Q: I just signed up and when I go to watch something I get the following error: "Your account can't be used in this location"
A: It seems like every new sign-up to Netflix Turkey is subject to a local restriction lockout. This can take anywhere from as little as several days to 30 days. There are many reports from OzBargainers and others reporting this error disappears within 30 days. During this lockout restriction, you can still watch shows and movies, but you must use a Turkey VPN to do so (otherwise the error will pop up). Since this is only temporary, it shouldn't be a problem after 30 days or so, andthis small hassle is well worth the savings.

Q: Will I need to turn VPN on everytime I watch Netflix?
A: No! You no longer need to have VPN on every time you watch a show or movie. VPN is only required for sign up. After sign up, use Netflix without a VPN and you will have access to the Australian Netflix library.

Q: I want to watch a show/move from another region or country. Can I do this?
A: If you want to watch a show or movie that is region locked to another country, you can do so by setting your VPN on your phone, laptop or PC to that country to watch it. Yes, you will need a VPN for this

Q: I got charged a different rate compared to the prices on this post. What happened?
A: Due to foreign exchange rates constantly fluctuating, prices will differ by several cents each month

Q: I have an existing Netflix subscription, can I use the same email?
A: Definitely! See Part A

Q: My bank blocked my payment, what do I do?
A: Some banks block 1st attempt and then text to confirm it's you. Once you reply, 2nd attempt may work. If after several attempts it does not work, just go through the Gift Card method and avoid the pain

Q: How do I update to a new debit/credit card?
A: You can contact live chat and ask them to send a payment form popup (this will allow you to add a credit/debit card and save it into the account). If the agent refuses or has no idea what you’re trying to say, end the chat and start a new one.

Q: Is signing up to Netflix Turkey going to affect my Netflix library/catalogue?
A: After setting up this sub, you may or may not notice the Netflix catalogue may be weird with brand new shows, etc… It might not even change anything, but if it does change, your Netflix catalogue will adjust to what you’re watching and soon it will look like nothing ever happened

Q: GST/VAT and Tax related questions?
A: See here. Don't worry, there really isn't any tax you need to worry about.

  • I just had my account refunded without ever requesting for a refund… I had the account for about 2 weeks. Anyone else?

edit: I spoke with an agent and they said they refunded due to "suspicious" activity - they said I have to use a different payment method. I signed up with Oldubil card.

edit: I added my Oldubil card again and it worked, if they cancel again I'll use gift cards…

Hello everyone, could you help me? I signed up for Netflix by following these steps:
    1. VPN Off
    2. I open the Netflix site (in incognito mode)
    3. I use NordVpn and log in in Türkiye
    4. I subscribe to Netflix and use Oldubill to make the payment.
    5. When I disconnect the VPN to watch Netflix it gives me this error: Your account can't be used in this location. For more info, go to help.netflix.com

    You can help me?

    • So you have read nothing in the instructions. You are locked to Turkey for 30 days and will need to use a VPN to watch until the lock expires

      • I'm sorry if I didn't read the instructions correctly but could you help me? Do I have to wait 30 days and then can I see in Italy? and how do i get around the block?

I would like to know if I did something wrong or is this normal?

    • +1

See FAQ first question. In the meantime, for 30 days, you can only watch Netflix using a VPN. After that, no VPN needed.

      • -3

Thank you for your answer. But I'd like to understand if it's something that needs to happen or I'm doing something wrong. From the above mentioned guide it only mentions existing australianiu accounts. If I have to create a new account which step should I read?

        • +1

@dothack you're not doing anything wrong mate. Everyone who signs up has the same problem as you for 30 days only, whether they used an existing account or a brasnd new account. After 30 days, everything is normal.

  • Just signed up again after I left in Feb. Already had payment info and mobile number saved so bought a gift card and off I went. I struggled for 30+ mins to redeem via two different VPNs. Data point re region lock: Completed steps on 27 June 11.43pm. Region lock not lifted at 11pm 25 July. Region lock lifted when I tried again at 12.15am 26 July. Awesome work OP.

Thanks I Smell Pennies. My Netflix is working after 7 day block but I am being charged an additional 69TRY over the 130.99TRY premium plan. I have prepaid via netflix gift cards. Is anyone else being charged this?

    • +1

sounds like you are confused. Did you use a 200TL giftcard? You've been debited 130.99 for first month and then you have a credit of 69.01 TL to kick off the second month. It will debit that after the first month expires and give you a partial month. When that expires it will debit you another 130.99 via giftcards if you have them or on your CC

      • +1

Ah that makes sense, thanks mate

    • No worries :) @furiu5gt

Just had my region lock lifted after 30 days. Thank you Op!

I tried to update my CC details with the same card but extended expiry. Used the live chat pop-up and all, but account is still showing the old expiry. Do I need to add a different card instead?

    • PSA: Just tried again and it didn't work. Both time tried in incognito mode so I tried again in normal mode. Worked the 3rd time. Seems like the popup form doesn't work well with incognito mode even though no error was shown

    • @aaronaldo no worries! enjoy!

  • +1

Region lock removed. Sign up on the 28th. Could of been removed earlier but never checked until tonight.

As Bob Jane would say. Thankyou bob,

    Thanks @i smell pennies

  • Thanks for the awesome write up. When I signed up my CVV from my credit card didn't save. As a result when I tried to update it Netflix asked for a Turkish number to send a verification code to. I have asked online chat to send me a "payment form popup" but it too asked me for a Turkish number to verify to. Purchasing gift cards works however would like to use my credit card. Cheers

    • " As a result when I tried to update it Netflix asked for a Turkish number to send a verification code to"
Using a Oldubil card work without a Turkish number?

      • All sorted. I just asked in Netflix chat for a payment popup. Took a few times to get someone on the chat to send it to me (as opposed to emailing me which required a Turkish number).

        • Just had the same thing happen to me, got in Netflix chat and the first agent sent me the form and didn’t need a mobile number.

    • No worries @jbw87 enjoy!

My 9 years old son came up with a brilliant idea regarding the location lock. Daddy, can we open up another Nexflix account for me to watch one piece? It is only $6.99 for a month. Problem solved.

    • @send2riven your son is smart thinking outside the box!

    Obligatory reporting.
Signed up 29/06/23 and Today 28/06/23 Geo lock lifted.
This was a brand new account with Basic plan I set up with VPN via Gift card with NO CC and Mobile Number on file.
Proceeded to Live chat, lucky me first try got an agent who was willing to pop up the payment form directly.
Bit of a hiccup tho, tried Revolut multi-use card twice and it was declined. Second card I used ING, first try also declined, second try success. 4 tries in total.
Back up CC on file, upgraded to Premium plan and the first bill will be pulled tomorrow 29/06/23.

I tried adding a phone number under Accounts, it does prompt the +61 prefix next to the empty field but I don't wanna risk complicating matters so account stays numberless for now.

  • Got excited today as my credit card finally got charged as I bought a 100tl card but upped my plan so it would charge before 30 days. Still blocked. Now I'm all nervous this won't lift knowing my luck 🫣 3 more daysss

    • Did it lift? @MeesusEff

      • Not yet, I've been charged to my CC a few days ago but I did sign up on the 3rd July. I'm super nervous now because knowing my luck with these things… 😅

        • I did sign up on the 3rd July. Oh ok plenty of jail time left. I estimate 1st or 2nd July you'll be unlocked. @MeesusEff

  • anyone else please check ?

So i was using my sisters Aussie Netflix account which was then locked when all the commotion started so i singed up to Turkey. I tried the new Turkey account on my downstairs TV after 30 days with success.

I went to my upstairs TV which had my sisters Aussie account logged in (previously locked) and for shits and giggles i just tried it anyway. It worked and i never got any error messages.

Anyone else able to try and let us know if your previous aussie accounts that were locked have somehow been lifted or what is going on ???

Big thanks to I Smell Pennies
Although, this one is more of a shout out for an assist from the group.
Followed the guide to the letter and went through a nightmare amount of VPNs before I had success with expressvpn.
Tried torguard, hideme, urbanvpn, windscribe plus another failures:
    - An error occurred during gift redemption - please try again later.
    - The code entered is not valid.

The VPN assignments are a bit of potluck and I always checked locations were correct before trying to register my codes.
I purchased codes from G2A and turgame. Both failed until I tried expressvpn.
    I have a 100 TL g2a and a 200 TL from turgame.

Used these two links in an attempt register:
    - https://www.netflix.com/tr-en/redeem
    *Always flipped to … https://www.netflix.com/redeem/emailentry?locale=en-RO

After +36 hours of trying and finally hitting the register site "Hey, that's a nice credit. 200TL" page at https://www.netflix.com/redeem/emailentry?locale=en-RO

I am now stuck with "Sorry, we are unable to process your request. Looks like this gift code is not valid for your country."?!

    What the hell…

Been jumping in and out of all VPN with no luck and still getting the same not valid for your country.
My Netflix AC/s were setup, then cancelled with right AU info as per the supplied guide.

So here I am… Anyone out there got a suggestion? This was is driving me knufing futs!
    Cheers to all in advance

    • it MUST say tr-en NOT RO. That will be why it's invalid. I've used Privado 4 times to redeem cards now with no issues.

    • Hiya all, any other suggestions?
The email accounts I have setup as per the guide fail, but trying a clean email address with no links to an AU Credit Card want to pushed forward.
      Uncertain of the outcome here.
Anyone tried with a clean brand new Netflix account and then have been able to link a AU home credit card?
      Interested to hear.

      Response on unregistered email =
Hmm, we don't recognize that email address.
[email protected] isn't set up with a Netflix account yet.
Let's get you an account so that you can start watching great stuff right away.

      Cheers

      • UPDATE - Doing this moved into service and then offered a SIGN IN.

Finally worked, just waiting for a block now.
Hopefully my garbage steps and issue here helps someone. Cheers to all

    • Hey @seandarcy thanks for the comment. Sorry you had trouble. It was only a matter of VPN provider. It could work one day, but not the next. The ones I use (Urban VPN / Nord VPN) generally works wonders and I can sign up within a minute. Glad you eventually figured it out though

Hey ISP! Thanks for the guide it worked a treat when I attempted it on the 8th of July, as of currently I have an issue with my account being on hold and the secure payment form that the agents gave could not verify my card from their end. I’ve also contacted my bank but apparently no charges have been attempted on my card. Do I need to update the card via VPN?

    • +1

Hey, that's so weird. If it doesn't work (the secure form), you may have to restart everything.

Do I need to update the card via VPN?

      Doesn't hurt to try!

      • +1

Trying via VPN did not work aswell, I've completely restarted the method after cancelling the sub. Now hoping the region lock would lift on the 8th/Aug or that means I'll have to wait the whole month rip. In the meantime I will try to update my payment through the secure form while the gift card pay the first month.

Thanks for the informative guide ISP! Just unfortunate about my situation :(

  • +1

Worked like a charm. Thanks for your guide as always! :)

    • +1

      You're welcome! Thanks!

      • Is it roughly 30 days for the geolock to be lifted? No work around except for VPN on Turkey?

  • Hey so this worked, then after the first month I was able to access after region lock was lifted, however now it looks like the Turkish gift card has ran out and when trying to pay using my credit card as alternate method it hasnt worked and email says "Netflix account on hold".

When trying to pay again it asked for Turkish phone number, i spoke to someone in chat and they asked if im from Turkey, said yes, said don't have phone number, they said continue to pay using gift cards.

Is this right? do I need to keep purchasing Turkish gift cards to keep account now?

    • Close and restart chat until you find one that won’t ask too many qns and let you update your payment to another card.

      • Just had to do this as well but the first agent sent me the form, no mobile required

  • Not sure if anyone had problems with buying gift card from turgame but for some reason it’s not working for me. Will try g2a but wanted to ask which sellers you have purchased from that you would recommend? When searching it seems they have multiple sellers. Thank you.

    • +1

I had problems with turgame also so used G2A and it was turgame who was the seller on G2A for me

    • Yup, I couldn't buy from Turgame at all, kept saying I was on a VPN and I tried turning Vpn on and off and it wouldnt let me buy. Never been on that site before. Bought g2a and no issues

      • I just bought a ton of Apple gift cards from Turgame no probs. I’ve never had a problem on Turgame

      • +1

Thanks gerard, meesus and ISP, I tried the 5th time. Tried between the first 2 options of the payment. I used my mobile internet instead of wifi on the last try and it worked. I have got Netflix working.

Thanks for your great instructions ISP!

        • +1

No worries and thanks for the support @Yosh1

      • Yeah i kept getting that same vpn issue on turgame.

        • Ive just tried again today with no VPN on and its letting me this time, so random

          • @MeesusEff: But after I enter in the OTP to pay, it just goes back to the order page and my order wont go through :(

    • I've been buying from G2A for a year now and haven't had an issue - nice price drop at the moment too due to the exchange rate.

  • Are you able to have the benefits of adding extra members with the premium plan using this method?
Just tried following the instructions however it isn't giving me the option to do so.

    • The "extra members" thing is only enforced in certain countries where "household" is allocated to an account. It hasn't been applied to Turkish accounts yet.

    • Turkey doesn't have this 'benefit' yet

  • As a post or two above mentioned, have they now cracked down on international credit cards as well?

I re-signed back up two months ago using this method and for two months my Macquarie card was used without a drama but today’s payment has been unsuccessful and than you obviously run into the needing a Turkish mobile number issue to change anything.

Might have to stick with gift cards now!

    • Mine is still deducting from my Suncorp debit. And if they have cracked down, surely everyone would be complaining here.

      • Maybe. Just odd as my card is current, worked fine the two months prior and now just tells me I need to add a new payment method.

Maybe on people’s next billing cycle they’ll come across issues or could be a Macquarie thing.

    • My credit card didn't go through either, first cycle. Will try gift cards if it doesn't go through after retrying.

      • Bought gift card from G2A, turned VPN on for Turkey, redeemed onto my account. Turned off VPN, and account off hold and working again. Guess gift cards is the payment to use from now on for me. Not too inconvenient.

    • Facing the same problem, guess gift card is the only way

    • Same issue here. :(

  • Also having issues getting my card to go through after using a gift card last month.
    Using 28 degrees.

    • Account on hold. 28 degrees card no longer works.
Any issues if we keep paying using gift cards?

      • Can't imagine you'd have any issues using gift cards for an extended period of time.

I did manage to succesfully update my payment method to my Kogan credit card after trying all my cards in the live chat window and also at netflix.com/payment (VPN on) .
They all said they failed but one of them seemed to stick and my account was unblocked so maybe just keep trying.

        • But with Kogan, you will be charged International fees and poor exchange rates?
I have Kogan cc as well.

          • @congo: Currently just have a pending transaction for $3.61 (Basic plan with ads for 64TL) so good exchange rate, international transaction fee is supposedly only 3.4%.
Will probably try 28 degrees again next month anyway

            • +1

@jrjr: OK its good that the fee is a percentage and not a minimum amount.
              15cents for fee is ok!

        • Tried Kogan card, but it then ask for phone number.
Had to add some GC instead.

          • @congo: Interesting, was that on the website netflix.com/payment without VPN?

            • @jrjr: Yes, I think I had VPN on.

    • Did you have any successful netflix payment with 28 degrees at all?

I paid for first month with gift card, 2nd month has already been charged on my 28 degrees card.

My next billing date is 17 August 2023 so not sure if I'll get the issue from then onwards.

      • +1

I did 1 month Australian then switched to Turkey with a gift card and it failed after my gift card month.
I reckon you'll be right if it goes through once.

        • Got the "Your payment didn’t go through" email.

I've bought more gift cards just pending payment. Looks like I'm going down that route now.

  • Did the turgame GC last night and the account is now being charged in Turkish lira

  • +1

Just went through all my credit and debit cards on the netflix.com/payments site with VPN on, they all appeared to fail but apparently one of them went through and my subscription is now working!

    • +1

      Yay

    • Do you mind telling us which credit card works for you?

      • +1

looks like it was the kogan card.
i also entered it during live chat but it failed so maybe it was that but there was a delay?
someone else reported their kogan card didn’t work so i’m really not sure

  • let's say i go ahead, do everything, pass the lockout, then later on my card expires. can you just update the expiry date and CVC via the account page without any issues? or would you need to go live chat?

    • You need to go through chat but as a post above alluded to, you might not have a great deal of luck especially if they are now also locking out international credit cards.

  • +1

Looka like Netflix is now blocking international credit card. My 1st payment went through okay last month. But this month Netflix just sent me an email saying they failed to debit my card even though my card is completely fine.

What'd be the best alternative option now? Buying giftcard?

    • I hope just a few incidents and not every one. Other wise not good.

I had update my credit card on the 25th July and got charge on the 25th July no issue.

Guess I have to wait till the 25th Aug to find out if that will be decline.

      • I chatted with Netflix support. They opened the popup form. I tried 2 different cards, both failed. So looks like they're doing it. :(

Giftcards is the only way now.

        • @BlackCaviar2016

          1. You can restart the entire process Part 1 and 3, and after it will keep deducting from your Aus debit/credit card, or

          2. Load up on Gift Cards and forget about it
