Hi Gaming Z trio does have 3 x 8 pins.

  • These look like good prices, but I expect there are upcoming price drops in the next 6 monthsthat could give you buyers remorse.

  • One good thing about the card shortage was that miners were forced to buy the fancy models too, and we now get top specced cards like the Gaming Z for peanuts!

  • +1

Solid seller. Bought ex miner 6600 xt from him about 7 months ago (3 month warranty), haven't skipped a beat. Touch wood.

    • Same. I bought a 6800xt taichi from them and it's running absolutely fine, no issues at all. Overclocked mine to match a 6900xt and at times 6950xt, pulling 380W.

I don't see how prices are falling in the near future. At best you are getting the same performance for the same money.

If you need that kind of performance get a 6800xt, it's a great card.

Also, you might still be able to get these AMD raise the game keys for cheap and you can activate them with those cards (done that myself, calisto protocol and dead island 2 for 30aud all up).

  • Hi all, just thought I'd put in my experience with these guys. Bought a ex mining 6600xt in March from them, works well, no issues so far! Big upgrade from my 1060 3gb.

  • to me: oofff
I would have bought this over my new 6650xt for $340 a month ago.
Note to self, never ever buy anything again because a better deal will always pop up later

  • +3

I know this seller personally. There's no way he would provide one year warranty unless he was absolutely sure these cards are in new condition else he'd be losing money with warranty issues. The warranty is a definite bonus on a used part. A brand new RX6800 is $300 more https://www.pccasegear.com/products/52724/powercolor-radeon-…
There's no way you're going to get this price on brand new. Bargain hunters this is for you. Everyone else who wants to get ripped off with inflated brand new prices there's plenty of stock sitting on retailer shelves.

  • Does anyone happen to know if any of these are reference? Looking to get a block and a GPU upgrade might be viable for me.

    • +1

I'm in the same boat, none of these are reference. You could look at the current EKWB sale, looks like they have a block that should fit the Gaming OC or TUF models. According to their compatibility tool anyway.

Wish they were reference as PLE have some really cheap blocks for reference cards!

  • +1

Finally decided to pull the trigger on an upgrade :) Got the 6800 - for anyone thinking of getting one in the next 6h, you can stack w/ the current shopback offer to get another $20 off (RX 6800 for $459!)

EDIT: For anyone eyeing the 6800 XTs, you can do the shopback offer ($20) + shopback challenge ($5 for $500 spent on eBay gift cards) for a total of $25 off. The two shopback offers stack (see the link above).

    • +1

Pretty sure the code is excluded from the shopback offer

      • Ah, good spot

  • Thanks Jun. Picked up a Gaming Z Trio. Can't wait!

  • Does anyone know why the Asrock or MSI cards were the recommended ones? What are the differences from them and the rest of the cards?

    • +2

In my experience gigabyte are often the cheaper end of the spectrum (I’ve found some of their cards a bit flimsy). Not sure about the pulse as I really like Sapphire but I think the asrock and msi are the flagship or near flagship versions of the card, whereas the pulse/gigabyte are the cheapest versions.

And asus well I’d steer clear of them out of principle, but it’s probably a decent card

      • Thanks mate.

Why would you steer clear of Asus GPUs? I thought they used to be the cream of the crop but maybe that's when I used to keep more in touch with GPUs. I noticed the Asus and MSI sold out fast.

        • The recent Am5 shenanigans tell me they’re not really a company I want to support. I realise these companies are all degrees of average, and these cards have already given the manufacturer their cash, so it’s probably a moot point.

Cards are likely technically very good though, but I personally don’t have a lot of experience with asus anyway bar a few motherboards.

I personally nabbed the msi but I would have been happy with the sapphire or asrock

          • +1

@Wally Simmonds: I will have to take a look at that, don't know what the am5 shenanigans was . Was it a big thing?

Sadly by the time I decided msi was gone. So I went for the ASRock.

All out of stock mayb your should update this post

  • Are you likely to be getting any more XT models OP?

  • Any more 6800 XT coming OP for good price?

    • +1

Hi yes another batch will arrive tomorrow.

      • Just wondering, do you have any other models ie. 6900xt?

      • -1

Thank you. Anything more powerful than a 6800 XT coming?

      • Keen on the Pulse if you get any more like that condition cheers

        • Are there any difference in the cards besides the Pulse being $20 cheaper?

      • @MetroCom what time is the restock and anything more powerful than 6800 XT? Thanks!

        • Another question - are you able to provide tax invoice on purchase? Thanks!

  • Any update on 6800 XT stock?

  • Hey guys my PSU has 2 x 8-pin PCI-E rails. The 6800XT uses 3 x 8-pin connectors

Is it possible to use my current PSU? Is it possible to convert 2 x 8-pin into 3 x 8-pin? Otherwise from googling it seems the GPU will work fine with 2 x 8-pin connections anyway?

    • The pulse 6800xt uses 2x 8 pin.

      • All good i managed to sort it out. Card working with 3x8 pin connected

  • +1

Card arrived today, but it doesn't fit in my old Fractal R2!
Time to hunt for a new case…

    • Damn that sucks. Would be good to hear how these are given they are ex miners. I held off as my ancient PSU doesn't have at least 2 PCIE 8-pins and the 2.7x slot might be pushing it in my case but might look to pick one up next time around and change from team green

    • What card did you get? I have a Fractal case (R1 I think) and measured 29cm max so I was planning to go the gigabyte cards

  • +3

Hi all, 6800 XT stock updated, this will be the last batch of 6800/XT recently. Next batch will be 3060ti/3070s.
    Cheers,
    Jun

    • Thanks for the update, do you have a rough price for the NVIDIA cards?

      • Check the eBay webstore now, more NVIDIA cards up now.

    • Did the Gigabyte 6800 XT get replaced by a 6800?

      • Yes the second batch only have Gigabyte 6800 but no XT.

  • Thanks grabbed an MSI 6800XT. Need that sweet vram

  • Damn I don't think my power supply would be up to the task of running this.

    • I'm running a 650W. I think it'll just make it with 2 x 8pin PCIE

    • Whats the wattage on your current PSU? I got a new 850W PSU.. but not before I saw that the "average" 6800XT only needs a 650W unit. "Average" means you are just chucking the card in without overclock, of course.

      • +2

I actually just opened my PC up and its got a 750W and it has 4x 8 pin PCIE connectors so I am set, hell yeah.

  • +2

Alright I bit. PSUs aren't that expensive.

  • Picked one up thank you Jun. There are a couple of added models from the last batch including the 6800 Xt X Trio (2 pin) for those with a PSU that can’t do 3 pins and Pulse 6800

    • I think even the 3 pin 6800 XT's will work fine with 2 pin plugged

      8-pin: 150W
      8-pin: 150W
      PCI-e Motherboard: 75W

      Total: 375W

Power usage of the 6800 XT's under gaming is around 280W. Under extreme load peak usage is around 325W. Let's say to allow for some headroom make it 350W. More than enough. I guess why some of the 6800XT's use 3x8-pin is to minimise and spread the load on the cables, but if you have a half decent PSU it'll be fine with just plugging in 2 of the 8-pin.

Source: lots of googling yesterday. If you are overclocking and playing around with voltages to squeeze out all the performance, the third 3-pin might be handy.

      • That’s interesting I had no idea about the pcie slot forgetting some low end cards don’t even need a cable. Keen to hear how you went with 2 cables I think your 650 PSU will be enough but need all 3 plugged in to boot even 1 cable + 2 on a splitter cable

        • +2

Reporting back - looks like it wouldn't boot with 2 cables connected. Looks like it needs the third. Currently investigating options to buy the third cable

  • +1

Got mine today. Looks brand new. Not a spec of dust or mark or fingerprint on it.
Installed no issues. time to test!!

  • +6

Got the ASRock Challenger RX 6800 and am testing it now. Noticed in GPU-Z that the GPU clock and default clock were different, which hints that the previous owners may have used a modified bios on the card. However, the issue is fixable. For anyone with the same card and issue, you can flash a "fresh" bios onto the card to sync up the GPU clock and default clock. I made a post on techpowerup, if anyone is interested.

Everything else (so far) about the card seemed fine! Very minimal dust in the fins or oxidation on heat pipes. Fans operational. And the card survived furmark overnight, with reasonable temps. Will test the memory and gaming next.

    • +1

Thanks for the link - mine match the default few

    • +1

Edit to original comment: On further inspection, I don't think the issue was a modified bios - rather, I forgot that I had MSI afterburner on , which was modifying the gpu clock speeds at start up.

    • Hi @tim9800 and @theguyrules

I'm contemplating buying the ASRock Challenger RX 6800 - how is your experience so far? Do you think it's worth it for $479?

      I would be upgrading from a 3060ti

      Thanks in advance

      • +1

        It's been good - but I can't speak on the 6800 as I have the 6800 XT.

      • +1

I have a 3060ti currently and just bought the 6800. Mainly because the 8gb vram on the 3060ti is a bit low. Plus 3060ti's are selling on ebay for $300-$350 so will be able to get most of the cost back.

This will give you an idea of where it ranks https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html

I also checked some individual benchmarks which also confirmed the 6800 is typically between a 3070ti and 3080.

        • Yeah that's my thinking too. Sell my 306ti sooner to make more money off it. And the 6800 has 16gb vram which is better for future games. My 3060ti is basically brand new cause I bought a pre-built so should be able to sell for $400 I hope.

    • +1

I noticed one of my heatsink fins were dented too, but it's very minor so I'm just gonna leave it. Did a quick google on bent fins and warped PCBs, and as long as its minor, they shouldn't be too much concern. If you're still worried maybe get in touch with Jun

      • That's what I'm feeling yeah

    • Ooft what model did you get? I got the MSI one and personally I would just return lol given 6800xt has been as low as 800 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/714597?page=1#comment

      • That exactly one

      • That was almost a year ago, unfortunately you won't be getting those kinds of deals anymore since amd+nvidia are just slowly clearing out any remaining stock of their previous gen.

  • The coupon code does not work anymore
    PSNSJUN

  • Anyone in Brisbane received theirs yet?

Express post letting me down :(

    • Yeah - I ordered at like 11pm Wednesday night and received yesterday 3pm or so.

      • I ordered from the original batch a 6800 XT Gaming Z on the 10th, shipped next business day (13th) and still has not arrived.

Stuck at Chullora at the moment after coming from Oakleigh South.

        • Well, now its inexplicably reached Redbank, QLD as of about an hour ago with no scanning out of Chullora.

          • @notaccel: Monday then hopefully.
Odd - mine went from vic, straight to Brisbane airport, then to Pinkenba then to me.

            • @theguyrules: @theguyrules I would've thought mine to follow that same process, another express delivery from Oakleigh South arrived within 2 days.

              First world problems.

    • Mine should be here Monday. Ordered second wave. Auspost can't do express despite there being no covid restrictions anymore.

  • +2

My asrock 6800xt arrived today, gpu bracket is badly bent where it screws into the case, and the bracket is buldging outwards, unable to actually install the card. Guess i got the bad one.

    • Oof :/ you think the seller would check that before shipping - unless it happened in transit which I doubt

      • +1

Yeah I'm also in doubt it happened in transit the card itself was packaged extremely well with a huge amount of bubble wrap, so thumbs up on the packaging at least

        • Same packaging here.
I guess hit up the seller ASAP while they have 6800 XTs in stock still.

    • Got mine today, sapphire 6800xt and it looks brand new! No problems visually, was in a static bag and heavily bubbled wrapped. Was bought last thursday and received it today.

      • What did you upgrade from? I'm thinking of replacing my GTX 1080 Ti and aiming to play at 4K60 high/ultra settings.

        • +1

I upgraded from a GTX 1080 and can definitely do 4K60 ultra/high settings now.

        • 1070 - just so warhammer 3 doesnt turn into a slide show when i play on 4k. 1070 was barely ok on the high settings - got around 24fps for the bench test.
Choose this over the 3070ti since itll age better cause of more ram.

  • Mine arrived today, seems to be in pretty good condition. Minor dent on the metal backplate and missing the illuminated MSI logo on the side. Other than those two extremely minor issues, everything else seems to just fine.

No rusting or bent brackets which is great.

    • No illuminated MSI logo? Odd. Makes me wonder if they've been opened to be cleaned/have new thermal pads applied like I suspected. If so maybe your LEDS might not have been plugged back in properly.

      • MSI factory seal still intact on the unit, any tampering with it would leave residue and I doubt has been replaced with a new one.

The logo physically isn't there, the backlighting still is however. I'm not too fussed about it, GPU going into solid side-panel case.

  • +2

@MetroCom Want to respond to the multiple people who have received these cards that you described as "in new condition" with heatsink damage/bent and dented brackets/missing bits/possible modified bios/etc?

    • +2

To clarify/update, my original claim that the card had a modified bios is probably a false flag (see update to my comment above). All the other claims about the cards' conditions still hold though

    • Mine still has its warranty sticker but to me it seems like there is some extra thermal pads. Between the PCB and the backplate.
Not complaining though, if it runs cooler because of it.

Actually looking at some teardowns, I don't think mine was opened. I suspect it's just Aus Post damage.

    • +1

Hi replied to all the messages on ebay.
Cards were in new condition when we got it. We wrapped it well with bubble wrap but sometimes it still cannot avoid damages due to dropping/bumping. We have ordered new boxes with better quality, hopefully it can minimize the damage during transit. For those who received the cards with damages, feel free to shoot me a message on ebay, we will work out something for you.
      Cheers,
      Jun

      • +1

        Hi Jun,

I don't think the issue was the boxes but more the fact that the cards were not supported with void fill to reduce/stop the movement within the box, hence the bent brackets.

  • Can confirm Jun got back to me super quick regarding my issues last night. I have full faith that they will be contactable during the year warranty if any issues arise.
For me, I'm keeping the card I got as I have believe Jun that it hasn't been opened, the damage is from Aus Post and is superficial.
MSI also just have excessive thermal pads which is what made me think it had been opened.

I'm stoked with the card. Miles Morales at 4k ultra at 75ish FPS looks incredible.

    • My MSI also has thick thermal pads. I think it's normal. My card looks to be in excellent condition, almost new. Haven't been able to test as awaiting a PSU cable.

  • +3

It's a little unfair to blame AusPost, no? I just received a 6800XT Z Trio and the I/O backplate and the very solid metal frame/corner of the card are bent to the point it will not fit into a case correctly.

The card is very well built, the required strength of an impact necessary to cause this level of warping is very concerning.

There is absolutely no damage to the bubble wrap or the box.

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/70069/104514/img_4571.…

    • Yea, can confirm that there was 0 markings on the cardboard box that AusPost delivered mine in - no chance you get that damage and have the bubble wrap intact. (Also looking at the photos from theguyrules, no clue how the fins bends in that direction from a drop? - its definitely mishandled from opening the card)

My experience has been good so far so I'll share my photos for future people:

      Link 1
      Link 2
      Link 3
      Link 4

It's definitely been opened and as mentioned above the MSI logo is gone lol
      https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/130601/104525/20230620…

Haven't had much time to test but I'll run some benchmarks to see how it fares against other owners

    • I agree. Unless the box looks its been squashed with a hammer, there is virtually no way a metal bracket is getting bent in transit. It's just a massive cop out from the seller who clearly isnt looking at what their sending closely. It's classic lazy eBay seller behaviour to claim something is "like new" condition, blame aus post if it arrives damaged and claim theyll sort out any problems instead of being honest with describing their items in the first place so that those problems arent there to deal with.

  • Does anyone elses 6800 XT sag on the back of the card due to the weight once installed in the PCI-E slot? Is it safe?

    • Yeah, massively. I used something I had lying around to prop mine up but you can also get things like this

some people cut pencils to the right length too.

      • Might put something temporary to prop it up then buy something neat with RGB

  • Got on this deal and it arrived today. If you didn't tell me it was used I wouldn't have known. Card was well packaged, absolutely spotless (no dust or corrosion on heatsink). It even smells new somehow

    • Same my card seems excellent. Ran a few tests all good. Went from 20 fps on 1070 to 90 fps 4k ultra with Diablo 4
