  • What happens when you reach the data cap, the speed is capped or?

    • Depends which SIMs you are looking at - all the details are in the product page

  • Hi how far ahead should we buy these for? I have plans to travel in September, is it too early to buy now? Thank you.

    • +1

September is fine :) except for Europe eSIM which need to be used by 2 months

      -Anton

      • Hi again, if I'm traveling to Taiwan and Japan, does this mean I can just buy the Asian Explorer and it will work in both countries? Thank you.

        • As long as all the countries you're visiting is listed as a valid country for that sim, you can hop between them no worries. In your case both Taiwan and Japan is listed in Asia Explorer so you're fine.

      • +2

Used within 2 months or activated within 2 months for the europe esim? Eg. Going Europe in August so would activate within 2 months but need it to work for 3 months.

        • wondering the same

  • The Three sims says "30/03/2023" is that an expiry date? 2024?

Edit: Also are the expiry just for activation? Would the ones ending "30/12/2023" work for the first half of Jan if they've been activated?

    • Sorry fixed.

Yes as long as they are activated it will run through January.

      -Anton

  • Good timing for me! But Asia explorer 12 links go to 13. I also can't find 12 on the website.

    • +1

Asia 12 is basically Asia 13 excluding china in the Asia 13 options

      -Anton

      • Gotcha, cheers.

  • I am going to HK how to I activate the SIM?
Do i do it here in Sydney? or do it once i arrive?

    • If you are buying the HK Physical SIM you would need to activate when you are in HK using the Airport Wi-Fi.

      It will activate within minutes.

      -Anton

      • For the HK sim card, what happen after data allowance are used up? Will speed be limited or unable to use network connection at all?

  • Hey Anton, before I purchase I'm just making sure there's nothing preventing using mobile hotspot with these SIMs?

    • Yes no issue except where we say "Hotspot May Not Work" in the product page.

      -Anton

  • +1

bought 2, thanks OP. was browsing on ebay yesterday for our Japan trip in Nov. looking forward to use them Cheers

    • +1

      Thank you!

      -Anton

  • No 60 day option for Asia. Do we just buy another esim when it expires after 30 days or is there a recharge option? Just wondering if I should buy two esims if I'm staying overseas for >30days.

    • +1

Please purchase 2 eSIM to cover your entire journey.

      -Anton

      • Will do, cheers.

  • Which one is the best for the Austria, I might need to call local number as well to make booking?
Is there any that will provide hotspot?

    • All our physical Europe SIM will work in Austria - for local calls please check each product page, our Three UK, Movistar and Vodafone all have calls options.

      -Anton

      • Thanks, interesting. The risks are that the deal ends before I travel and then we have to scramble for a replacement. or the payment/activation process fails on the day I travel and then I am stuck without a SIM.

      • -1

Great deal. Thanks for sharing. I am in two minds whether to take the "risk free" option of buying from TravelKon or going with this deal.

  • Mistake on "SouthEast Asia Explorer 6 (Countries) eSIM 30 Days 10GB" should be $29

  • I’m travelling to Singapore 24/12/23 and then Japan from 26/12/23 to 10/1/24 and then Singapore from 10/1/24 to 13/1/24.

Can I buy the asia explorer now? And then activate on 24/12/23?

    • Not yet, it has to be used within 6 months so it's a tad too early.

      -Anton

      • -1

Thanks Anton. Does that mean I won’t be able to take advantage of this eofy offer?

Just need to wait for the next offer?:)

        • That's correct.

I should clarify this is only the case if you choose to buy the eSIM, physical SIM will be OK.

          -Anton

  • +3

I bought from one of TravelKon's deals earlier this year. TravelKon was fine, shipped quickly and physical SIMS arrived in a few days. I booked for the SIMs to activate the day before I left so I could do the SIM swap whilst still connected to WiFi. No issues with the SIMs or activation, default APN settings all just worked. No hassles from things in TravelKon's control.
For people travelling together I'd recommend getting SIMs from different carriers, we came across a few locations where we'd have signal but non-functioning data i.e. mobile tower routing fault. Having someone in the group on a different carrier means you can still get access.

    • Thank you for the feedback :)

We also ask customers to please contact us if they are experiencing any issues, we can try resetting the SIMs on our end :)

      -Anton

  • I used these guys last year for Korea and it was all easy as, if you're on the fence and travelling, I'd go with their service for sure.
Would have used them last week, but couldn't find anything for Sri Lanka in time

    • Thanks for the feedback !

      -Anton

  • Thanks OP. Bought one for Europe. Good timing, I was scanning for e-sim deal just this weekend.

    • Thank you!

      -Anton

  • What's the advantage of this? Travelling to Indonesia in a few months, and from what I can tell, it's much cheaper to just buy a XL Axiata Network SIM card direct for a much lower price. 48.5GB for approx $3.50 AUD (from the website). I get there's all this promo stuff, but even at the base data of 12GB, that's still cheaper than the $14.25 for 8GB quoted here. Am I missing something?

    • +2

Just note that the current Indonesian regulation require IMEI to be unblock for foreigners.

If you go into the city yes it would be much cheaper, but we offer convenience, especially the SIM which covers 6 or 13 countries.

      -Anton

  • Just bought for Japan next week, can I add the sim now or do i need to wait until im in Japan

    • You can add the eSIM now :)

      -Anton

  • I am going to Vietnam for 10 days and want 15 days e-sim. Can I activate it in Melbourne and not use it in Melbourne but use it in Vietnam straightway when I land?

    • We suggest activating one day before or on the day of your arrival for the Vietnam eSIM

      -Anton

  • No eSim for Indonesia? I prefer this as it seems to get around all the rigmarole.

    • Our Asia 6 Explorer eSIM covers Indonesia.

      -Anton

      • Bougth that for last week trip, very convenient. We activated in oz 1 day b4 we left, then turn it on as soon as we landed, works well.

  • Thanks OP, just in time as I had a couple of other prepaid China cards on my watchlist from Amazon/ebay but hesitated due to the lack of reviews. Looking at your past OZB deals and website puts my mind at ease so pulled the trigger on the 30gigs for 30 days China sim for $57 with no need for VPNs (good value)!

    • Thank you for the support!

      -Anton

  • +1

At least for Europe (10Gb or 20Gb) I found that Sydney Airport's eSIMs to be the cheapest:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/778589

      • Unfortunately that service does not include the England/UK and at least one other country I was going to visit.
Also it was quite difficult to work that out as I don't speak Polish and the translation was rather confusing as to what box of text meant what.
So I feel its only a service for people that know what they are doing.

      • +1

        -1

        Doesn't include Switzerland either.

    • Yeah I think I'm leaning towards getting the Sydney Airport one, although still looking for an eSim that includes calls/texts too!

  • Thanks! I bought an esim for Japan but will be going to Hong Kong first. Can I add the esim before I leave Australia?

    • Yes you can :)

      -Anton

  • Bought two thanks. Also got two in the previous deal without issue.

    • Thanks for the support

      -Anton

  • Website says to not install the physical SIM card until you land (in Japan for me) otherwise it will activate in Australia. The SIM has 30 days and I'm only going for 2 weeks, so would it be OK to install the SIM in Australia the day before I go into my second SIM slot? Does it matter if it activates in Australia?

    • +1

In your case it does not matter if you insert the physical SIM :)

Make sure to follow the guide once you reach Japan.

      -Anton

      • Brilliant. Ordered a SIM. Thanks.

  • How long does it take to ship to Sydney? I’m leaving in 9 days…

    • We suggest getting the priority or express option :)

      • Ah yes great. Going to buy the world explorer one as I will be travelling few countries. I need to put an activation date. Does that mean I will have 365 days of use from this date?

        • No, activation dates are used only for certain SIMs, the world explorer cards does not require activation and will work once you insert the SIM.

We applied activation dates for all SIMs including those without activation required for delivery purposes

  • Hey Anton,

Looking to grab 2 Sim Cards with 20 - 30 gigs of Data each for 20 days in France/Italy/Greece/Belgium.

    I was about to purchase the: Vodafone Europe, UK & Turkey SIM Card | 10 / 14 / 19 / 28 / 37GB | Voice Calls* | 28 Days

option but was confused about what was included with the calls. If we're in the same country are we able to text/call each other with no issues?

If not, what is a good sim you recommend? Cheers.

    • The 19GB, 28GB and 37GB does not have local calls in EU countries - you should be able to call each other if you buy 2 SIMs.

      -Anton

      • Can you define does not have local calls?

        • Call in the country you are in (e.g. calls from France to France, or Germany to Germany).

  • I used the Southeast Asia explorer SIM in April for Korea + Singapore and it worked pretty well.

    • Thanks for the feedback :)

      -Anton

    • Did you get physical SIM mailed to you + option to use eSIM? Is it an option of using either one?

      • No they are 2 different items you can order. I got a physical SIM and gf got an eSim for our trip.

  • Can confirm this works! I am currently overseas and using it on the daily.

I do wish there was more than 1GB/day given unlimited data is ubiquitous here but the convenience of eSIM and piece of mind on upon landing probably outweighs it. I was able to message my friend in the customs line, as I'd realised when filling out the card I didn't have their address.

    • Thanks for the feedback :)

  • Hi Anton, what does "local" mean in the context of phone calls for the Movistar physical SIMs in Europe?

    • +1

"Local" call mean call in the EU countries you are in, for example France to France, Germany to Germany. Calls from France to Germany for example won't work.

      -Anton

  • Second question!

The description of data as "10GB (EU)/40GB (Spain)" is something I haven't seen before. Does it simply mean if you travel between Spain and elsewhere in the EU then the data you have available will adjust according to the changed location, or do you lock yourself into either 10 or 40GB based on the initial place of activation?

  • Regarding Asia Explorer 13, 30 days 30gb for use in China. How do you activate it? Do you activate in Australia or have to activate it when you arrive in China?

    • For physical SIM you can simply insert it when you arrive, for eSIM you can add the eSIM to your phone before hand.

Please follow the travelkon.com/au/guides for more information.

      -Anton

      • Thanks for the quick reply. So for eSIM we need to add to our phone in Australia and it will automatic work in China?

        • Yes it will work in China after you turn on data roaming we ask customer to please read our guide travelkon.com.au/guides

  • I’m Japan right now using Japan 30 days 10Gb esim with no problem. Travelled in metro subway Japan and some further small towns still have connection. Just make sure you choose KDDI or NTT Docomo for the network. The only downside is sometimes you got ads or search results that includes Taiwan local info because they use ChungHwa telecom for the esim.

    • That's right the provider for the Japan SIM is CHT and the operators they partner with in Japan are KDDI or NTT Docomo

      -Anton

    • Hey @kodoq is 10gb enough for 14 days if I am mainly using it for Google maps GPS walking all day with public transport arranging and a bit of Facebook and Instagram each day by myself?

      • Should be enough. I travelled for 17 days and used Google Maps extensively while checking on Facebook and instagram on some Japan travel tips. I still have connectivity before I fly back to Melbourne from Narita this morning. Free Wifi is easy to get in big cities such us Starbucks, KFC, Mcd, etc.

        • I hope it holds up. I don't plan to use any of the public wifi area. Too lazy dealing with sign in, language mistranslationa and the such

          • @RQNinja: Those places I used have English information straight away and don't need any email or information from us, just click connect and you're away. But I still use Nord VPN just to keep it safe though.

  • Does any of the sims work for Brunei?

    • Unfortunately we do not offer Brunei at this time.

Can anyone comment on New Zealand - the Sim utilised spark. How does this compare to onenz (Vodafone prev I believe) and 2degrees which is what Sim corner and simdirect? Sell.

Am going South island mainly Christchurch through the lake Tekapo to Queenstown route. Then Dunedin and Oamaru on the east coast back to Christchurch. I know there's slight differences in coverage for all 3…. Especially some offer 5g in major cities

Any travellers or kiwis here who could give a recommendation /2 cents worth?
