    Ingredients (Almond milk):

Filtered Water, Roasted Almond Paste, Tapioca Syrup, Sea Salt, Sunflower Oil, Sunflower Lecithin, Sodium Bicarbonate, Gellan Gum

    • mmmmm Sunflower oil. Yum.

    • To my surprise these are made in 🇯🇵

  • According to coles the regular price is $4.90.
Who is paying FIVE DOLLARS PER LITRE for soy milk?

    • +6

      People who drink bonsoy

    • +4

Anyone who steams soy milk for drinks at home - this one is significantly better for that purpose than any of the cheaper soy milks in the supermarket.

You might be surprised once you try Aldi's $1.20 soy milk.

I'm trying the Aldi organic soy it right now since I ran out of bonsoy. Not to be too dramatic but it's ruined my morning coffee enjoyment today

          • @pingponged: Yeah, I absolutely didn't mean the organic one that you're talking about.

Don't get the most basic organic for coffee. They usually are organic to the point there are no additives (esp. acidity regulators) to help when making coffee.

And that's taste- and structure-wise. Organic soy milks easily curdle when hot and hit with usually acidic coffee, so you end up with tofu floating on the top of your sourish drink.

You might be surprised once you try Aldi's $1.20 soy milk.

I was surprised at how horrid it was for making lattes.

        • +1

Possibly, but there's no Aldi in my state so I can only go off what I know.

Most people in the espresso hobby circle (which I am fortunately/unfortunately a part of) also seem to go with Bonsoy.

          • +2

@NedStark102: Bonsoy is a surefire, but not worth 3-4x the price. (Yeah, I happen to have Aldi nearby).

        • I tried the Woolies organic and it also ruined my coffee.
Vitasoy saved it a bit but Bonsoy is still top of the bunch.

    • -1

No one, only buy when it's $3.00-3.40 pal
Some people spend much more on other unhealthy snacks/g

You should definitely try it, especially if you use for coffee/frothing. You can order one minimum.

      • Yep. Got to a point that my friends all have soy lattes at my place because ordering coffee with soy cost more at cafes….lol

        • -1

oh right .. your mate sounds like real men drinking milk fit for a baby cow..

Same kind of crap every time there is a deal on this stuff.,

          • @G-rig: Didn't neg ya.
But I never mentioned they were male.

  • Is this really that good - i usually buy the other brands which are usually on sale for $2.50 and even sanitarium barista or milk lab are about the same price normally aren't they. Never tried this one so can't really say much.

    • +1

Maybe get a carton on sale and taste the difference.

      • +2

Agree its the best one there is.
        Its worth the money.
Not on sale cheapest is $4.50 from aldi

Soy Milk is one of those products that you should really read the ingredients. Do not buy products that state "Soy Protein" you want it to state "Whole Soybeans".
The comparison would be buying cordial when you were told it was fruit juice. BonSoy is made in Japan, which has excellent quality control on food crops.
But almost all other soy milk companies are very vague about where their soybeans come from and I would much prefer them to be Australian grown.
A lot of soy milk brands will claim (Macro Organic Soy Long Life Milk) 77% Australian made, which means that every single ingredient including the soybeans are imported, most of that "77%" is Australian grown um water!! Most soy milk companies do this, such as Pureharvest Organic Malt Free Soy Milk, "83% Australian ingredients" this means the soybeans and other ingredients are imported and the added water is Aussie owned and sourced!! The one brand that seems to claim the most Aussie grown whole soybeans is Vitasoy with 97% Australian ingredients and "Organic Whole Soybeans minimum 15 %", which means that some or all of the soybeans are Australian grown and organic.

  • Having sampled various soy milk brands at Woolworth, I can say this particular one stands out as the best option for coffee.
Its creamy taste is exceptionally good, resembling that of full cream milk.

Although it may be more expensive, the quality and flavor of this particular soy milk brand make it well worth it, but I woudn't pay more that $4/ltr

  • Unpopular opinion: vitasoy calci plus and the basic woolies brand soy milks are superior In coffee.

Seriously try the basic woolies one, it's actually really good!

    • +1

The ingredients are cleaner as well for woolies one. No use of oil. Vita also uses sunflower oil I think.

      • +1

Nothing wrong with the oil, unless you're allergic or on a strict diet. No matter if it's soybean, sunflower or even canola. They all have their advantages, most of all they carry certain vitamins that are not soluble in water. They also improve the flavour and texture and, well, at the level of ~2%, I bet it's not your main worry when it comes to fats.

    • +1

Since I was running out of Bonsoy, I purchased this Woolies soymilk and "So Good" yesterday seeing it has a higher fat content comparing to others.
I plan to give it a try in a day.

I am using "So Good" right now, it is not too bad if one is looking for an alternative, I might ditch Bonsoy and go with this one tbh.

      • Keep a look out at the ingredients because you dont want some of that in your system. Any type of oil thats added is not gonna be good. Also woollies one has random crap in it like emulsifiers and thickeners which are terrible for you.
Hence why bonsoy is more expensive also bonsoy is more natural and non gmo and certified.

        • Oops, my apologies! I actually meant to say higher protein content, not fat, lol.

        • Wasn't bonsoy recalled for causing thyroid problems? Millions in payouts.

I wouldn't be so quick to praise them…

          • @Wafflel: Link?

              • -1

@Wafflel: Pretty sure they would have sorted it out since then, and most payouts takes years and years before that - reckon anyone will get a cent from the Optus data breach?

It shouldn't have happened but alchol is poison as well as meat which is a type 2A carcinogen. Most people aren't too worried.

                • @G-rig: Alcohol and red meats are risks you accept. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't be expecting to lose my thyroid over some soy milk. It's a far cry from rabid bonsoy lovers here commenting about how amazingly pure and healthy it is.

I can deduce you enjoy bonsoy but don't excuse this stuff.

                  • -1

@Wafflel: Yeah guess can happen with anything and no doubt they have paid for it handsomely 10y ago and doubt would ever happen again. Not good at all. Isn't bonsoy imported from Japan?

Plenty of other brands out there if you're worried.

    Milk. Ingredients: Milk

Bonsoy. Ingredients: Filtered Water, Organic (Certified USFDA, NOP) Whole Soybeans (min. 14%), Tapioca Syrup, Sea Salt, Job's Tear (Hato Mugi), Calcium Carbonate.

Tell me again which one is better?

    • +5

Better for what? I'm sure a lactose intolerant person would have a different answer to you on that one

    • -1

Soy at any time. It doesn't smell and has no saturated fats, if we're that deep into details.

    • Bonsoy

    • Lol no idea.. you wouldn't really want to know what is in cows milk.

    • +1

Which one is better for who? You or a calf?

  • +1

Is this the new price? Or am I waiting for $3.15 S&S like all previous times I’ve purchased?

    • Looking back its a once a month deal and it alternates between 3.15 and 3.42

      • Yeah, the cheapest was $3.00 flat once or so, but usually $3.42. some times it didn't go on sale for 2 months, may order 3 more.

  • Made in Japan right? Can it contain nuclear waste?

    • Only in trace amounts

    • Hardly most advanced economies (Including Australia) send their nuclear waste to poor countries in shipments

  • max 6 sucks (especially when toll smashes 3 out off 6 every time)

    • That's odd Amazon pack very well and delivered by private drivers

    • I have been regularly ordering this item whenever it goes on sale, and I have never experienced any issues with the packaging.
Agreed, 6 is not enough to last until the next round lol.
