  • Bought one, surprised not sold out yet.

  • +1

    Holy sh1t this is tempting.

    • +1

get it fast! site isn't lagging yet :P

  • +1

I'm tempted to bite the bullet.
I currently have 3 months left on my Telstra iPhone 4 plan though. What's the best way to use/own a Galaxy S3? Buy it outright and then what sort of plan would be best? TPG for ~$18?

    • +3

      Or Live Connected

      • +8

Liveconnected $11.99 plan is fantastic value

        • Wow, that's a pretty good plan. Definitely will give this a try once my Telstra iP4 plan finishes.

        • pls send the link

        • +1

Why the hell am I with Amaysim Unlimited ($40 month)…

Time for some change! (pun totally intended)

        • +1

Wow, I am currently looking around for a BYO plan and the best plan I could find that suits me was on optus for like $34 a month and it gives you less then the $11.99 plan on Liveconnected and it seems like Liveconnected use the optus network anyway.

I almost signed up to the optus plan yesterday. I am so glad I read your post. Thanks heaps ;)

    • +3

I'm with TPG atm have internet and homephone with them, which brings mobile plan down to 15 for me and it is so worth it so hard to use it all up! Definitely one of the best value plans, uses optus network as well which might not be as good as telstra but far better than voda ;)

      • I was initially with Optus but found their coverage to be a tad bad in my area. I used their '30 day coverage guarantee' to cancel my policy free of charge. Perhaps they've upgraded their network in the past 2 years? Either way, I really don't want to continue to be paying $49 p/m.

    • The woolworths optus 29 dollar prepaid is pretty good, 5gb data heaps of calls and texts(I've never run out) lasts 45 days and If you have an everyday rewards card you get an extra 10% off. so %26.10 or just under $19 per month. :)

  • Got one - woohoo :)

  • and sold out.

  • +2

    aaaand they're gone…

  • Great price.

As I said elsewhere, Galaxy Note 2 annoucement is literally days away, with release probably mid September. If you can hold out until then, I'd expect this kind of price for the S3 to be the norm.

    • +1

The 5 Nexus phones are also just around the corner. :D

    • +1

Also the iShite 5 is due out in a week or two, that will drive more price drops on the Android side of the market.

  • +3

Yay 1000+ votes and I finally got it.

    • +1

      Well done. :)

      • Im sure did the same amount too ;)

        • lol I meant you did same amount too

  • So how many Samsung Galaxy S III did they sell at this price? Posted on OzBargain and it's gone within 6 minutes (probably all taken by Kogan's Facebook followers).

    • The hide of those on FriendFace hey.

      /sarcasm

  • Got one. Didn't need it. But well got to be better then my huawei x1 or whatever the piece of craps called ;)

  • Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  • +1

Ok so I got to the " payment info" part of the order, and just as I hit the PayPal button I noticed a yellow banner at the top saying it had been removed from my cart as it was sold out.

But it still took me to PayPal and I paid for it and got my invoice and payment received emails etc.

    Fingers crossed I guess.

    • Dont worry , you got the deal !

    • looks like you paid $478 for a virtual phone. hope the pixels were worth it :)

      jokes aside, you'll get one.

  • sold out !! huhuhuhuhuhu

    • +3

never got these deals from them, they cant handle the "marketted " traffc

    • Never bought from them and wouldn't be bothered too just relaying what someone said on facebook.

      • +3

hahah… here comes the 1 hour "deal" for COTD.

Don't even bother, you won't be able to get any of the good stuff no matter how quick you are.

    • +1

lol and they will charge you 100$ for the post

    • +14

      COTD STOCK QTY: 1

      • +5

        yes…SOTD…..Scam Of The Day

    • +2

I must say, getting that deal from Kogan was a nice change from the laggy COTD deals. Was surprised that I actually got on the site .. then through checkout .. and it was actually still in stock by the time I completed the transaction within a couple minutes. 30 minutes of sitting on COTD and I never get anything! :(

    • Omg COTD has a GS3 for $399

      Fixed your post

    • +2

Over 13,000 likes on the ipad and over 6,000 on the samsung galaxy with 5days to go and only 30mins for each deal so doubt if anyone is going to even be able to access the site let alone make the purchase. Maybe their app might have less traffic and be able to handle it better on the day ???

    • +5

OK learned my lesson never to mention COTD deals on Oz bargain. Didn't realize how bad they were after reading some of your comments.

      • +5

never, ever mention the site that must not be named.
its like living in Hogwarts and promoting Voldemort's army.

        you are forgiven.

        • This time for COTD it states you can buy at that price for 30mins so unless there is a limit stated in their terms of the upcoming sale, it shouldnt become sold out but only run out of time. If its sold out someone really needs to sue them or make a complaint about false advertising

        • Its always the same deal… COTD website will go down 10 minutes before the sale, and will stay down for at least an hour. When it is back up and running there will be one or two unverified reports of people getting the item.

        • Exactly.

Doesn't take a brain surgeon to realise they have had ample opportunity to upgrade their systems to cope with the massively increased load during their events. Whether they have or haven't is irrelevant because 'Kon' or 'George' is sitting at the web server hands ready over the 'Shutdown' button whenever they feel they have baited enough people to their site.

        • twiddles thumbs dooti-doo

  • +1

Good marketing ploy for the company, but seriously, probably 100's of units yet 10,000's voted…

  • +3

They should state how limited is the stock

  • +1

Got one ! the deal was only lasted 3mins before being sold out ! Thank OzB community .
I have been waiting for ip5 , but Kogan got me to stay with Android again !

  • I got one too

  • -6

Like I said on the other thread, terrible bait advertising practises. Lost all respect for Kogan and they can go in the COTD pile.

    • +5

Well it was possible to get one.. The servers didn't lag and it was smooth pretty much the whole time with a bunch of people on ozb managing to snag one. COTD, not only does it lag it is almost impossible to get one.

      • -2

That's until the next time they run it/become more popular? In COTD's infancy their severs did not crash and people could get the deals.

Kogans reach is not nearly as large as COTDs (yet), COTD's current promo is in the tens of thousands already. Kogans was much smaller, and that's not including the masses of OzBargainers that up votes multiple times.

It's the practise of bait advertising that is poor form. If it continues their rep will be the same as COTD

        • +1

"If it continues their rep will be the same as COTD" Isn't that a good thing? hahaha the rep on OzB is good :D http://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/9689/nodes HAHAHA
"That's until the next time they run it/become more popular? " yeah but its not next time atm its this time! You can neg next time I guess? :)

  • +1

Don't be disappointed. The experts on here were saying there was no way this phone would hit sub 500 by the years end. Sometime after the new iphone comes out expect this to hit 400.

  • Expected dispatch date: 30 Aug 2012.

Does this mean only next month we get the phone?

    • +2

      That's pretty quick for Kogan:)

      • Ok cool. Just want it now lol.

    • What delivery method would they use? Australia post or courier? Hate my local Aus post as sometimes my item is there for few days before they try to contact me about it.

  • +3

What i will say is props to kogans servers that actually did not crash, if this has have been COTD we would still be bashing the f5 key

  • +4

If this was posted by a rep, I would 100% neg this deal. Its total BS bait advertising. Esp when they are still offering the same phone at normal price…

Should be classes as a lucky draw.

Not that I wanted one anyway lol

  • +5

My brother paid $420 for a new S2 not long ago. He's in tears

  • -3

For those who missed out the deal today . Try this link
    http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_400892_Samsung_Galaxy_S3_…
    AUD 499 . Not bad
    Good luck !

    • +3

      $50 shipping. Meh.

  • aww, missed out again.

  • damn, missed out on a sub-$500 S3

  • Would anyone have a screenshot of the page before it went out of stock?
Bought my S3 for $629 two months back. Think it's time to put that 28 degrees price protection to good use but they want proof of price reduction!

    • +1

can send you invoice if you want :P

    • +1

Not an Australian retailer. Check the T&C of the Price Protection.

      • +1

I thought that was the case too, but tried my luck and made a claim on a Kogan product recently.

Despite the fact that the invoice has a Hong Kong address written on it, my credit card bill says Kogan Australia South Melbourne and the claim did actually go through successfully. Gonna be buying alot more stuff on release date now and claiming it back later!

        • How do you go about making a price protection claim?

        • Don't mean to necro this thread but the price protection claim did come through even without a receipt, so while I got the phone about three months ago I effectively paid this price.

          Happy camper I am!

        • You have to have taken up their offer for shopper's protection before you buy the product. The procedure for making the claim is listed in the PDS:
Call them and they'll send you a form or you can download it online, then fill it out and fax/mail it back to them. Too easy!

  • +3

wow….can't believe some of the S3 prices that have been around lately.

My S2 is still going strong, but oh so tempting!!

  • +5

I can't imagine why the votes of this deal keep on going up. I mean

    • 2 hours ago, Kogan posted the deal on their Facebook page.
    • 1 hour and 55 minutes ago, revolushenary re-post this deal on OzBargain.
    • 1 hour and 50 minutes ago, SOLD OUT! (and was having +15 votes at that point)

And almost 2 hours later it's approaching 50 votes?

    • is this price - too good to be true ?? - Dont think so
Might sign up with Vodafone again - coming to end of my contract
