PC Build - Help with Choosing Components Budget $1,400

Hi everyone,

I want to build a budget gaming computer for a friend and have come up with the following list
If you notice any bottlenecks or parts I should upgrade or downgrade please let me hear your opinions.

Criteria:

  • Case must be white lol
-Prioritise quality RAM/SSD over prebuilt generics (even though RTX 3070 $1399, RTX 3070 Ti $1214, RTX 4070 $1388, look very tempting)
  • Prefer Wi-Fi built-in the motherboard
  • Plays games like Valorant and Apex

THANKS :)

What about the monitor, desk, chair, speakers, microphone, headset, USB-Hub, and RGB lighting?

      • does he have an ass to sit on?

    • Thanks for your input jv. They already have peripherals plugged into a ghetto Dell Optiplex sff with 1050ti.

So any pc will be an upgrade.

      • Thanks for your input jv.

        Glad I could help…

This is just a current example, there are heaps of good value pre-builts on this site

  • CPU cooler? They are cheap and easy to fit when you build it. The 280mm EVGA AIO cooler was under $100 here a while back. Not sure if it still is.

Additional fans? Top rear would be the hottest area especially if you didn't go an AIO. I'd put another fan taking air out up there. And probably more at the front for intake (unless you put an AIO radiator there). Arctic are cheap. And the more you have the less they need to work, so you can have a quiet pc.

    I'd go a modular PSU.

    • I was thinking about keeping the stock cpu cooler as they won’t be over clocking.

Thanks for advice, I will add some Arctic fans.

Any recommendations on a modular PSU? I’m just trying to keep the price down

  • what monitor are they running?

    • Dell 27 Monitor – S2721H
      Full HD (1080p) 1920 x 1080
So they won’t be using it for 4K gaming

at 75 frames a second, that graphic card and cpu is plentyy. I have a ryzen 2600 and 1070 and it runs valorant at around 120-130 frames 1440p

        • Buttery smooooth. I think they’ll be happy with the build
