AYANEO 2 Handheld Gaming Console: $1548 + Delivery ($1528 Del First) @ Kogan | $1583.95 ($1483.95 eBay Plus) @ The Gamesmen eBay

140

Couple of good deals on these Ayaneo 2 Handheld PC's depending on your subscriptions (also changes which one is cheaper).

I don't have one of these myself but can imagine these work well with PC Game Pass or emulators. Reviews online seem very positive.

ordered a steam deck yesterday. im so excited.

Should have got one of these, way better

      • not under 15w

      • And almost twice the price…

      • These things are insanely expensive. Even at $1550 the Ally is still better value.

  • +4

Also available at JB for $1599 with a free bag if you don't wanna deal with Kogan.

    • +1

yeah f kogan , gamesman price looks okay and theyve been good to deal with in the few purchases ive had over the years

  • +3

Keep in mind that this model has been replaced by the 2S, which runs a slightly faster chipset.

There is an upgrade path I believe, where they send you an updated motherboard you can replace yourself (for a fee).

  • +2

hm at this price point worth considering ROG ALLY also at JB

    • -1

Biggest problem for me with the ROG Ally is the design of the sides, looks like it would feel like holding a Game Boy Advance. Ayaneo design is more like a controller, looks like it would more comfortable.

      • I guess we should be able to try them out in store soon enough

        • I am guessing at least not for 2 months with there preorders getting delayed to 3rd July and who knows if they will fulfil all the order or not at that date.

          • @V003: They can have demo or dummy units in store

            • @impoze: That would be really nice. They needed to put 1 in some store before launch or on launch day so people can experience if but whatever this Australia we never get all the good things or things on time

  • +3

Due to Asus ROG Ally pricing at $1299 with a Zen4 CPU, I expect these prices to come down further.

  • +1

Love mine, but considering the Ally and Aya Neo 2S are both here i wouldn’t buy this model unless it was really cheap.

  • is the Rog Ally Z1 extreme the same as the 7840u (780m?). If so, 1299 at JB doesn't seem a bad price? Just wish you could get the chipset in a 14" laptop format!

    • The Z1 is just better binned for handheld vs laptops.

  • +2

Why would you buy this when the Ally is either the same price or cheaper? AyaNeo, get yourself together please. It's not a bad product, just a bad price right now.

people need to be as poor as you?

        • Fun fact

it shouldnt bother you what other people choose to buy or can afford to buy.

        • But they don’t need self-righteous people telling them what they should and shouldn’t buy with their own money.

      • Quite the assumption there.

Some stand to gain from raised interest rates.

    • +1

If you actually know the tech it is a fully fledged PC in a handheld format. It's something the Ryzen CPUs allow due to their good performance per watt at lower TDP. You can game on it, plus actually run productivity applications, and connect to a SFF wireless and keyboard/trackpad. Not everyone needs a laptop and handhelds are getting more traction.

Protip: demand for consumer electronics has actually gone down and so have prices.

Inflation is pretty much entirely energy companies and Coles and Woolworths ripping off the public on the price of things people can't elect not to buy.

    • They really dont

    • People have been willing to spend 2k on phones, cameras, audio systems, TV, so interest rates should never go down then?

Anyone looking at getting an AYANEO should look into the AYANEO 2S and AYANEO GEEK 1S. These are the current offerings from AYANEO, the 2 is the previous model.

These newer models cost less than buying the old one from local retailers, however you won't have the advantage of easy returns or replacements like with JB or Gamesmen.

    The IGG campaign is below:

(I'm an AYANEO 2 owner btw, great handheld but yeah the 2S is looking like a nice upgrade for those looking at getting a new one).

    • I was interested in it , but 2s kinda out my budget at the moment so 1s geek was looking good for my need but I am too worried bout return/refund with indiegogo/kickstarters. On top of that shipping is in end of July and could be late if something goes wrong on their end. So I ended up order ally. At least I would have the option to return/refund

      • I think there's a lot more peace of mind with the Ally and I imagine support from ASUS would be pretty good too. I have seen seen quite a few people have issues with AYANEO support, seems they just use Google translate which leads to frequent communication issues.

Personally I still prefer the AYANEO 2/2S design over the Ally but from I've seen the Ally and 2S are very comparable performance wise.

  • At this price, wouldn't it be better to get an entry level gaming laptop?

    • +4

Not if you wanted a handheld

    • I've had a gaming laptop. For me, it effectively became a desktop replacement. Whereas a handheld can be comfortably played in bed, on the loo, on the bus, on a plane …
