Can I view what’s included in each city before purchasing?

    • +1

      Or activating

      • Yes on their website but it’s pretty bad

        • +3

They kept repeating the same place in the Dining section giving the impression of large selection

        • +2

The app allows browsing without logging in @DooDah

        • Agreed. Was trying to see if was anything worthwhile in the NZ book, gave up scrolling.

    • +1

I came across this response from them on productreview.

"You won't be able to see all offers available without having an active membership, however you can see a selection of offers on our website. If you go to the 'offers' section and type in the region you're wanting to see you will see some of our offers that are available. Due to this, we do have what we call The Entertainment Return policy and guarantee - if for any reason you are not satisfied with your Entertainment Membership, you may within 30 days of purchase contact our office for a full refund. A proof of purchase is required.

You can read more about this in our T&Cs: https://www.entertainment.com.au/legal (section 1, paragraph 3). "

So if you want your 99c back… :)

Used to love entertainment book but it kind of died due to covid.

There is only a fraction of dining places now compared to what used to be in there.

    • +1

Agreed (though still pretty good in Perth, for em) - but 99c easily covers for just a single meal!
      Bought 5 without any hassles.

      • Hi,
Did you use 5 different email addresses?

        • +2

No, and have received 5 separate emails with 1 activation code in each.

          • @chrism238: do the codes have expiry dates?

            • @my2cnts: Must be activated within 90 days of purchase

              • @bamzero: wouldn't that make buying more than 2 worthless?
just trying to understand how can I use more than 2 (3 months membership)

                • +2

@my2cnts: Well if a voucher is single use and you intend to use more than once in the 3 or 6 months, 99c is a pretty cheap price to pay

      • +1

        why 5?

        • why not?

          5 x each voucher.

  • Do you need to use the app? Or can you just buy and access through the site directly. Thanks OP

    • buy through the site

      • Thanks. I meant usage not purchase. Confirmed, you can login it their site OR use the app.

  • Is the version of original Entertainment book is any different to what NRMA or Budget Direct or HSbc instant savings offer? They all use Entertainment Book to offer discounts.

    • Yes, significantly more offerings in the original

      • I got the same offer in hsbc's Instant saving app as Gordon posted Sealife 2 for 1. But .99cents for 3 months is worth a try n compare.

        • +1

NRMA or Budget Direct or HSbc has less restaurants and 20% off instead of 25%

        • But .99cents for 3 months is worth a try n compare.

          how's it compare ?

    • how can you access the budget direct savings?

      • You have to have 2 policies with them

  • Thanks OP. Bought 2.

  • Awesome deal. Purchased 2. Will definitely get my moneys worth.

  • +1

Entertainment book has been really shite for a few years now.
$0.99 probably makes it worth it. Thanks, will buy

  • +5

With other free apps like liven, eatclub, and thefork (and even groupon/scoopon), I find entertainmentbook value be less appealing..

    • Plus cashbacks had made entertainment book way less worth paying for.

I get almost the same from being with budget direct and hsbc, they use Entertainment book.

      • That’s Entertainment Frequency Values, not the Entertainment Book.

    • They many more options than just dining. Like 2-4-1 tickets, etc

  • +2

I hope that the increase numbers of new members helps entice shops (old and new) to consider being added to the list. I live in South East Victoria and all my favourites pre COVID are all gone.
The Hunt for a bargain, especially if it stacks with Amex or other discounts, was fun.

    • +4

I think this is one part of their strategy, "Hey shops, open yourselves to XXX potential new customers"

Also, once users are in the ecosystem they are more likely to renew (this is almost a loss-leader strategy).

    • I thought unless they are big national companies, going in the entertainment book was the final nail in the coffin for a lot of places, restaurants especially.

They are either doing well enough that they don't need to offer discounts, and if they're not then the discounts might get some more people through the door at first but I would guess in most cases they don't create repeat business.

  • Wasn't aware that entertainment book still a thing….good to know

    • +1

Also don't forget to take advantage of the offers Entertainment book have for discounted gift cards

      Gift Cards

  • +2

Can you buy 2 x 3months using one email address and then activate other one before 90 days is up to extend and get 6 months

    • thats what i plan on doing, have activated one already and I can see the other is still waiting to be activated so it seems like it works…

  • For $1 I though I pull the trigger then think later.

Last time I use this was still the book version. So what is good the digital version? I am in Sydney……🙏🙏

    • hows the book work?

      • +1

physical voucher hand out when used

    • Digital version is great. People having trouble logging in, can't activate their voucher codes, oh and you need an internet connection to redeem vouchers. So convenient 😜

  • Thanks grabbed for. 99c

Used to have it pre Covid and it was worth it then as we work In Adelaide but wouldn't buy full price now.

  • Need to know if Amazon, JB hifi, Woolies and Coles discounts are on EB subscription still and what rates

    Purchase depends on results

    • +8

      amazon 3%, JB 4%, woolworths 4%, coles N/A

      • Do you pay cc fees?

        • +1

Looks like it varies. Amazon and JB has a 1.25% CC fee. Woolworths goes via the woolies group website and I dont think theres a fee

      • Thanks very useful. I don't see a problem asking

      • So to be clear the net discount for Amazon is 1.75%. JB is 2.75%. Not too flash. I get 4% discount with NIB.

        Woolies seems quite reasonable though.

  • +1

How much do hoyts tickets cost? They list special price but can't see what that is without a membership

    • I want to know too, same with Events

    • +1

      18.50

    • +2

Hoyts vouchers - can be used anytime except after 2pm Sat/Sun. Upgrade fee applies for dbox etc.

      Adult - $18.50
      Child - $14.50

      South Australia Only - $13.50 for Adult/Child

Need to add 1.25% card fee

      • +6

        Cheaper on SB app…

    • +1

Hoyts is barely discounted $18.50 adults, $13.50 kids.

Special offer for SA at $13.50

Event is $13.50 and $11 mids so similar and not any better than NRMA ect.

      1.25% credit card fee too

  • Edit - found it!

    • foudn what?
      might as well deleted

      • +1

        Edit - Bazinga!

      • He was looking for something for his wife since last night.

  • Thanks for this. I get to secretly use their offers now instead of using the family's sub :P

  • +2

bought 2x3 month memberships for $1.98 seemed good value. you need to activate within 90 days

    • So activate the second one in 89 days? Sounds good and will cover until Christmas.

      • anyone confirm?

        • +1

All the terms seem so suggest it will be fine so I've done the same and marked Sept 20 in my calendar. Worst case, I'm out 99c

  • +3

I AM STILL SALTY that no compensation was offered right at the beginning of COVID….

But…. This offer may too good to pass up.

Anyone recently used and had any restaurants reject?

    • You should never have restaurants reject because they can simply ask for the voucher to be removed instantly.

      • plenty of closed restaurants are still listed in the book

        • +1

You are correct I have noticed this.

But can't reject your voucher if they don't exist! ;)

          • @samfisher5986: I've reported a couple, but they are still listed.

It's as if they leave them there deliberately to make it look like there are more restaurants than there really are.

  • Is HSBC Instant Savings the same thing?

  • +1

Bought and redeemed at maccas for brekkie 👌🏻

  • Bought 2 with the same email, seems to be the same activation code?

Edit: second membership is pending activation in the profile

    • Oh dear. Is this the case? I also used same email for all.

      Just checked. Mine are diff

      • +1

Seems all good now, the pending activation code appears different when I activated the first one.

        • Do you need to activate both within 90 days?

          • +1

@ady211: I think so, I activated one already and planning to activate the second one within the next 90 days.

    • I bought both in the same transaction and got two different activation codes

      • +1

My bad, one of the emails containing activation code went to junk folder for some reason, they are indeed different.

  • +2

I prefer the old physical book - at least the shops cant pull out whenever they feel like it. When i bought the app version a year or two ago - many shops took themselves off it. There was even a time when my local chinese place was on there but when i went to go pay later in the week, they had removed themselves from the app and i had to pay full price.

I also remember going to Stellarossa in 2020/2021 and they refused to accept a buy one get one free coffee as they were doing it tough. Im sure they would still make profit on that too.

  • Did anyone got charged $10.99 instead of 0.99?

    • 3x 99c for me

    • +2

You might have selected multi city

    • Did you choose the multi city one? Single city is 0.99.

      • Thanks I am getting it refunded by then soon

  • +1

this the mobile number that's required on sign up actually needed for using the membership? if not ill use a burner sim I have.

    • Nevermind, I thought its not too much hassle to use my actual full time number just in case.
