a code that expires in 10mins

Does it mean we only have 10 mins to pay?

      • +2

I believe so, the code disappears after 10mins. But I dunno if the code still works if you noted it down.

  • +2

You have to press Redeem when you are paying.

    • Paying through where?

      • +2

I’ve always just redeemed at the restaurant after eating, when paying.

      • +1

        Paying through where?

        At the premises.

  • Easily saved money with this pretty good for 0.99c

  • -3

This is the first time I use the entertainment app, i saw most of the comments saying buy 2 which covers 6months.
For me i go to New Shanghai once a week, so in my case if i purchase 20 X 3 month memberships I'll get 20 times of 25% off at the restaurant? If so can i buy the 20 using the same account/mobile number?
also how can i tell if a voucher is a single use or multiple use.

    • +5

Hopefully this won't cause them (Entertainment Book) to never offer a good deal like this again. A couple of accounts is ok imo, but 20…..

      • In this case i will get my family to get 5 each so it's not that obvious

    • All vouchers are single use.

But vouchers can be single city or multiple city.

Only the single city 3 months is $0.99.

      • Thanks

    • +2

Yes if you want to use a voucher multiple times then you need to buy multiple memberships. You can just buy them in a single transaction, stating how many membership you want and they will all show up in the "activate membership" section.

In your case, once/week x 4 x 6, you will need to buy 24 memberships to maximize your savings.

      • Thanks

      • +1

Should actually be 26 or 27 weekly visits (depending on day of week).

        P.S. (89+30+31+30)/7=25.86 weeks

    • +3

Since you like New Shanghai, don't forget you can also use it at Din Tai Fung, so you can have dumpling twice a week.

is the site down? https://www.entertainment.com.au/ is giving 500 internal server error

  • Does this deal end on 26th June 23:59 or midnight 0:00?

  • +5

Anyone who's getting 500 error try this link. I just bought through this. Just select 3 months for $0.99 membership.

      Just buy via cashrewards

  • Go to McDonalds today n show the code to the staff then the manager, they don't know about it so can't redeem

    • +1

Same happened to me today where cashier didnt know and asked me where I got the voucher from. Told her to speak to manager on duty. Manager saw my phone and clicked on 'redeem now', got the code and entered into their cash register. All worked fine.

    • +1

I showed my buy 1 get 1 free big Mac coupon and the guy just sold it to me 2 for 1 price. I didn't even need to redeem the code.

    • Same Maccas had no idea i tried the Mcrap voucher and got given a free one - no purchase required lol.

Walked out but i was keen on getting 2 even if I had to pay as I was still hungry after eating it ☹️

    • +1

get receipt and submit complaint, tellem get they shit togetha

  • For the single-city membership, how/where do you actually choose which city?

    • +3

I bought single city. It asked me to select which city upon activation.

    • +1

When you activate you choose the city

    • Thanks for the clarifications!

  • anyone getting 'internal server error'?

  • The website is back up! Have just joined and activated a three month membership.

  • Well, got one, but let's see if I ever use it. Offers don't look too impressive..

    • Showing a closed down burger restaurant nearby and when I launched the app for a second time it told me that it had estimated I had saved $10 already when I haven’t redeemed anything…

  • i just install the app and logged in. alot of the offers are already redeemed.

  • Any decent offers in Brisbane?

  • Sale extended however it seems no more 3 mth memberships available at the discounted rate

    • -2

May be that because I posted at their FB saying I got 6 months member for almost nothing and got one to spare too🤣🤣

  • +2

Tried it at a restaurant that is listed and got the 'We don't accept these anymore'
Has anyone had a successful attempt?

    • -1

The easy way is to pay by Amex and just do a chargeback later. Other credit card works too but Amex is the easiest.

Alternatively you can tell them you will do a chargeback later if they dont accept the voucher. Most sensible merchant will want to avoid such hassle and cost involved.

Don't bother with ACCC/fair trading/CATs, not worth the troubles. If the credit company somehow decides to ditch you (extremely rare) then just eat it up.

      • +6

Don' know how you can charge back on a restaurant for a meal you had consumed. Not accepting discount voucher sure is not a valid reason to charge back….

Why not just ask the restaurant before you started? The merchant under their T&C do have the right to pull out from the deal. Its has been like that since day one..

        • -2

You certainly can, it is for incorrect amount charged. You can do a partial dispute for the voucher amount.

Under the Entertainment Books T&Cs, you do not need to show/ask about the voucher until you have finished your meal and about to pay the bills. So if the merchant decided not to honour the voucher, it would be an incorrect amount charged to your card. In the real world, T&Cs dont really matter, trying to fight a chargeback is almost certainly a bad decision for the merchant and it should teach them a good lesson about honouring previously distributed vouchers.

          • -1

@truetypezk: Serious mate…. you would go through all that crap just to fight for a discount?

I am not on the side of the restaurant and I also think it is garbage that a merchant decided not to honor a voucher. I just think it is a lot of trouble for that $20/30 discount. May be yo have a lot of free time.

Also your logic of incorrect charge doesn't really stand, as I pointed out a merchant has the right to puall out of the offer anytime, and yo don't want to ask before you start. So they are charging yo what is on the menu (at the point you enter). A voucher valid or not has nothing to do with the credit card company.

            • -2

@syswong: As I said in the previous post, this is the easiest way to get the discount honoured. I dont see why you feel that takes "go through all that crap just to fight for a discount" and " it is a lot of trouble for that $20/30 discount" From what you said, clearly you have never done a chargeback before and you are just relying on your imagination of how chargeback works to reach that conclusion.

It literally takes you at most 2 mins with Amex to complete the chargeback request online. Trying to argue with or convince the restaurant manager/owner or giving them a lecture of good customer service and honouring vouchers on the other hand is a huge waste of time.

So before you comment on how hard something is next time, maybe you wanna actually try doing it first.

              • -1

@truetypezk: I have not done a charge back nor I had an AMEX for a long time. That is not the point.

The point (and the problem) is you think it is right for you to launch such an action to a merchant when you have consumed their products at published price.

You also ignore the fact that I point out to you it is in Entertainment Book Merchant T&C that they have the right to withdraw an offer. That information is available from Entertainment book or some smart googling, but I guess you won't border. All that you care is me me me me me!! Hmm I need to maximise every cent in the voucher. I will cause the maximum trouble to the merchant they decline my claim!

People like you are one major reason why there are so many cameras in restaurant these days. I know of a restaurant has one on each table. It is to have customer ordering and dinning on record. If a restaurant can proof you know the price and you order and consume the food. You will be liable for that bill and your charge back will fail. All they have to give amex is the CCTV recording. Because again you ignored the fact that the entertainment book has nothing to do with the transaction especially when you did not make know of your intention to use the voucher when yo enter the restaurant.

I wonder what would you do in the old days with the gold card? Argue with restaurant when they don't let you use multiple cards🤣🤣

                • @syswong: Lol mate you gotta be kidding me. Yes I indeed think it is 100% within my right to launch a chargeback when the merchant refuses to honour a previously distributed voucher.

Now, since you would like to talk about T&Cs, may I draw your attention to section 13.4. of the EB T&Cs which states that:

It is not necessary to identify yourself as an Entertainment Member when making your booking or arriving at the restaurant. Present your phone with the “Redeem” screen visible at the time you request your bill to redeem the offer.

May I know which part of the T&Cs states that merchants can withdraw offers at their will? If you are talking about section 4 which states that:

Entertainment Publications assumes no liability whatsoever, including without limitation, liability for any expense, loss, cost, injury, damage, accident or any other matter or thing whatsoever, however suffered or caused (including compensatory, incidental, indirect, special, punitive, consequential or exemplary damages or damages for loss of income or profits), directly or indirectly arising out of or related to the Program or by reason of the termination of or amendment to the Program in whole or in part, the value or availability of Offers, or the addition or deletion of Offers, Participating Merchants or other features with or without notice.

That is Entertainment indemnifies itself from any liability to purchasers should a participating merchant decides to pull a voucher. It does not give merchants any "rights" to withdraw an offer.

Regarding the cameras, clearly you are living in your dreams again. If you are fighting a chargeback based on unauthorised transactions, that might help a little bit (highly unlikely though as there is no provision in the chargeback process even to accept videos, these are just based on PIN/tap/CVV/CVV2/chargeslip signatures)

Additionally, 99%+ chargebacks are adjudicated by the issuing banks, most prefer to side with the cardholders (their customers) as long as it is borderline reasonable and not an obvious and blatant fraud. As the merchant, if you want to "fight" a chargeback, you will need to go into a formal arbitration process in which the card network makes a decision as a neutral party. For example, Visa will charge a $500 USD filing fee if the merchant loses an arbitration and the merchant's acquiring bank will usually add on additional admin charges when passing it onto the merchant. It would be nuts for any restaurant to fight over a $20-$30 chargeback into the arbitration process.

Actually from what you have said, I kind of feel you might be a shady restaurant owner who is scared about customers knowing their rights to a chargeback as stipulated in the cardholder's agreements. My sincere apologies if you are just an extremely considerate customer:)

                  • -1

@truetypezk: I wouldn't have time to argue with you if I am a restaurant owner.

And I feel sorry for restaurant owners that I know when they run into AH customer like you.

                    • @syswong: Hey maybe try not being an AH and honouring vouchers in the first place so you/they wont run into AH customers like me? =D

                      • @truetypezk: Why not complain to Entertainment book instead? Ebook could easily remove the restaurant from their app

    • +2

Just used it tonight at Zen Japanese Restaurant in Hawthorn Vic. First time I used the app, and they just walked me through. Saved 25%

  • Used my first voucher recently. Not sure why some of you guys are getting messages saying offers have already been redeemed

  • +1

Can I gift the 3 month membership to one of my mates?

Or is it linked to my email? It has not been activated yet

I bought an extra one for 99cents.

    • It's just a code so don't see why not. Or you can give it to some deserving Ozbargainer who missed out ;)

  • +2

For those who are looking at the deal that is still on. A word of warning…..

The entertainment book is not what it use to be. Sure there are still some value for 12 Months $40.99 but that is if you are a eating out person and frequent goes to CBD. Suburb choices has gone down the drain with most chains gone except Maccas, Baskin Robin, Donut King, Sushi Hub and NeNe Chicken plus a few smaller chains.

The $0.99 for 3 months is good deal cos you spend under $3 and you got 3 X the voucher to use within six months. The 12 months you got the 1 set of vouchers but has twelve months to use. Not a deal killer but sure way less value.

Noticed a few restaurants that didn't have caps on their 25% off deals have now added $25 or $30 caps, dick move.

    • I'm not sure I understand the caps they put on. 25% off at a restaurant with a $25 cap, does that mean you can order $100 and get $25 off, or order $25 and get $6.25 off?

      • +1

Cap is on the discount, so spend $100 and get $25 off.

      • Yep, order $25 get $6.25 off, order $100 get $25 off, order $200 get $25 off.

  • Did not accept my offer at Lollipop land though it says that you can redeem at any existing or future locations.
Adviced that HO has not informed us about Offers or Entertainment book.

    Seems sus to me.

I found these 2for1 maccas big mac ticket is still way too expensive. checked thru a few store they are charging big mac between $7.60~$7.90. You're still paying more then $3ish for each! Will only use it if visit out of town for cheaper food

    • Consider most people think $4 Whopper is good deal, $3 ish for a big mac a certainly a deal.

What is that you expecting? $1 big Mac and you can claim BOGOF?

  • I tried using McDonald's voucher, but the staff had no idea about this voucher and they didn't accept it, so the voucher is wasted :-(

    • +3

Contact them to get the voucher reinstated.

Most Maccas know about the vouchers. Next time don't tap the button yourself either wait until they tell you to tap it or let them tap it.

      • +3

Yep I always let them redeem it,

Sometimes they dont tap it so it gives you an extra use

  • anyone having trouble setting up a new account. I purchased on 22/6 and went to activate it today and create a new account (there is suppose to be 90 days to use the code, so it should still be fine?….keeps coming up with Something went wrong when I tried entering my details to set up account.

    • I didnt set up new account but just activated another code on my account fine.
FYI you can activate multiple “memberships” into one single account. Once activated it’ll be called “Subscriptions”. So you can have multiple active subs within an account. It will show you how many offers you have at the merchant page (2x/3x4x etc) and will only use them up based on whichever expires first. That’s the info I got from CS.

      • turns out I had an old account from may years ago that was linked to my mobile number. They have to delink that so I can set up the new account.
