@Oauiii: Will give it a go, cheers!

            • @Sim69: @Sim69 please let me know how you go as I picked up last week as well

            • @Sim69: Please let me know how it goes too!

          • @Oauiii: I think you have zero chance, but I guess it won't hurt to try. My pick-up was a few weeks ago.

          • +5

@Oauiii: Tried and this is the response:

Thank you for your enquiry. We hope you have been enjoying your Model 3.

We have reviewed your account and can confirm the agreed purchase price itemised on your Motor Vehicle Order Agreement matches the vehicle and options pricing as configured on 26th of June 2023. We have also confirmed this pricing matches the Final Tax Invoice settled by you prior to accepting delivery on 29th of June, 2023.

Periodically we may adjust our pricing. As pricing is agreed to at time of order, compensation is not provided for any pricing adjustments outside of the terms of the Motor Vehicle Order Agreement.

            • @cucumber: As expected, no surprises .. but thanks for trying and sharing the response.

            • +1

@cucumber: that sucks. nevertheless, don't mind it and enjoy your car!

          • @Oauiii: I picked mines up on Friday (30th of June) last week less than one day before the price drop and I was given a similar message. This is from Tesla Perth sales team.

"Thank you for your email, I appreciate you taking the time to send through this feedback for us.

I regret to inform you that there is no compensation that can be offered for customers who have already taken delivery. Tesla's pricing is handled nationally and live. As much as I'd like to assist further. myself as an employee was unable to even get my order fee returned when I was unable to proceed with my order.

I apologise for any inconvenience caused, if you had any further queries or required any assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out."

            • @WaveZero: Thanks, I was on the same day. I can shrug off the price drop, but when I think about the NSW 3k rebate on top it stings!

    • damn, I've been saying for a while now these cars will drop in price, and continue to.

Here's a warning yet again, despite the hunderds of plus votes, this will be even cheaper in a few months time. So be prepared to lose money if you want the car now.

      • +6

So be prepared to lose money if you want the car now.

Almost all cars depreciate, be prepared to lose money if you want any car…

        • +1

Funny how before this every Tesla fan told me they don’t depreciate and it’s better than ICE cars.

          • -1

@cloudy: Sample size of tesla fans spoken to: 1

            • @chepsk8: oh ive had plenty of chats with fans dont u worry about that

      • Unlikely, clearing stock for the upcoming refresh.

        • Nope .. Model Y also discounted.

    • Know the feeling, grabbed mine yesterday. Now I know why they were pushing so hard for delivery.

  • Unresolved Reports
    2 for Duplicate

Where's the dupes anonymous reporters? I can't see this deal posted earlier in the last month.

    • From this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/785083

But that was added on description after I posted the deal.

      • So my question to those reporters still remains 😝 I see Model Y in that title and I don't see it in the title here.

      • +1

Now one of those sooks is downvoting us. Gotta love it how they hide 😂😂😂

        • +1

😂😂 . Btw how can you see the unresolved reports what they are? I can only see three reports but I can't see what they are. I can see only if someone reports as expired.

  • +1

    New financial year. Bad timing

    • I expected an increase for the new FY. My pick-up was a few weeks ago.

  • clearing inventory to get ready for highland

  • How much has it dropped? Don’t think it’s 5k odd compared to the previous posted deal for the rwd model

    • +1

Model Y base model has dropped $4K in QLD

    • +1

It has dropped almost $9000 since before April. That would be a real sucky if you bought in March…

      • Far out, how come Tesla are dropping new prices like that? You don't see other brands dropping their RRP like this. Like you said, what if the person bought in March? Automatically the resell value dropped nearly $10k just from Tesla's move alone, let alone depreciation.

batteries degrade after a few years

When made up facts form the basis of your opinions….

      • -5

Show me even a single example of a ev with 100% battery after 2 years….. I'll wait.

        • +4

I don't even have an ev and recently bought an oversized diesel SUV.
But I also didn't make silly non factual statements to justify my purchase decision

If you need such facts to support yours, just embrace it

        • +9

Are you suggesting, that if an EV battery degrades to less than 100% in two years, that you need to buy a new battery? The average loss for Tesla Model S over 8 years is 12% when driven over 200,000kms. Do you understand that?

        • +2

Yes because it's useless when it only has 97% after two years?? I wouldn't buy a Tesla but no problem with battery life at all.

        • +4

Show me even a single example of a ev with 100% battery after 2 years….. I'll wait.

How do you even manage to type such a ridiculous argument?

"OMG my phones battery only holdd 99.9% of charge now, better replace it!"

          FFS…..

    • Plenty of people with buyer's remorse voting you down.

Horses for courses. Having a Tesla involves a lot of behavior modification.

Considering my 6kw east / west solar in Melbourne only does net 16kw on a sunny day. It would only get you 100kms if you are home all day. Unless there is a free destination charger. Otherwise even off peak power say 16c / kwh it is $2.56 per 100kms to charge.

      • +1

Having a Tesla involves a lot of behavior modification.

Not really. The only difference is I plug my car in when I arrive home. Takes less time than going to a petrol station with my other car.

        • -1

          Obviously bad at comprehending.

      • +2

Yep 100% this. Now you just drive home and plug the car in. Such a massive change. No need to go to petrol stations, service a car every 6-12 months etc etc. Also when you drive to shops, some have dedicated parking where you charge for free and very close to entrances. Average cost for a full charge is $17, that is full price.

        • +3

Maybe he's thinking of those big American emotional support vehicles that can barely fit in parking spaces. You really need to change your behaviour for those.

        • Now you just drive home and plug the car in

How many hours does it take to charge?

          • @netjock: After driving 10 kms? Like 2 hours on slow charge off peak.

      • Otherwise even off peak power say 16c / kwh it is $2.56 per 100kms to charge.

and how much does it cost for a petrol car to travel 100kms?

        • +1

          Depends.

$6 on a Corolla Hybrid but that is a $30k car. If you invested $30k in the index and it pays you 2.8% ($840) that is 14,000 kms a year of driving.

            • @MakkhiChoos: LOL at better build quality

You mean no range limitations on the Corolla? You might need 40 mins to charge every 455kms. The Corolla can do 1k/km on a single tank. Basically Melbourne to Sydney non stop.

Better resale? What if you keep it for 10 years or 20 years and never sell? I think you're just trying too hard now.

Plus the 30k investment should incur capital gains of about 4% a year.

      • $2.56/100km vs $16/100km in my current ICE vehicle. Easy choice.

        • Horses for courses.

I pay $6 on an ice that costs $30k less. Fuel and service covered by dividends. Basically driving for free

      • That's a problem with your crappy solar setup… I'm almost 60kw on a sunny winter day yesterday. 100 on a good summer day.

        • That is because you are in Sydney.

          I am in Melbourne

I get 40+kwh on a good summers day.

You didn’t mention your solar size.

Problem if when you have low solar output in winter and batteries perform worse in cold weather.

    • +1

My Tesla is three years old and I think the battery has dropped about 4%. Extremely happy with my purchase. I’m quite happy that new owners are getting the price a little bit cheaper as well. Extremely convenient to charge once I get home. Never have to waste time at petrol stations anymore

      • -2

Waste time charging instead when you do long trips etc.

  • -6

Don't waste your money on an EV in Australia.

    • Try convincing the Hilux and Ford Ranger drivers to buy EV lol.

      Aint gonna happen

      • +1

I've got a new diesel Everest and am planning on getting an EV shortly, that count?

        • -1

Didn't know they made Everest Utes.

          • @netjock: More or less exactly what a Ranger is Einstein.

            • -1

              @R00D:

More or less exactly what a Ranger is Einstein

Didn't know they make an Everest with the tray.

Neither do I see a 7 seat option on a Ranger.

Maybe some platform but I am sure you can't get a fully loaded pallet into the back of an Everest with a forklift.

I don't go around calling a Corolla hybrid a Prius but then I am not Einstein. I just get my eyes tested regularly at specsavers.

              • @netjock: Point being, the market buying Ranger often consider Everest and vice versa. Same platform, same towing ability, same off road ability, etc. You see tradies and families buying both. In other words, the original poster's point was 'try selling an EV to them', as there's no EV option to directly replace them. A price comparative Tesla won't tow, won't go off road, etc, etc.
Shame I had to go into this detail… My original Einstein comment was bang on, hey?

      • When we have EV pickups with incentives they will buy truck loads

        • Pickups already have incentives it is called FBT free status.

  • +5

    I'll wait till theyr $22k

    • +1

Sure they will get there in time but will be cheap EVs with limited range, power and no tech unlike the Tesla

      • no heated seats, no heating steering wheel, no amazing sound system, no laminated glass, no electric boot, no adj lumbar support, etc etc etc

    • +3

Byd will prob get there first

  • +9

Excellent price but boy is this one plain looking car. If it wasn't electric, nobody would buy it.

    • +5

I'm enjoying my Model 3 but I admit the front-end is pretty bad

      • I could never buy a car unless it looked good from all angles. The Model S was attractive.
