                • @Sheng: Thanks for the tip about the tap and pay on the physical card. I probably won't try it out as all my spending goes on a rewards credit card so I'm always going to eat the fee at Aldi.

I'm only carrying the physical Westpac card in my wallet for this promo to grab an Aldi gift card each week - otherwise the card is usually at home and everything is paid via Google Wallet which doesn't seem to offer Least Cost Routing or toggle it as a EFTPOS transaction.

Hopefully someone else can test this and report back though.

    Got 2x $20 so far.

First one was on Friday the 7th, the rebate was paid on Monday the 10th (the purchase date was moved forward to the 10th but that appears to not have affected this week's rebate). The second purchase was made on the 12th and the rebate paid on the 13th.

Thanks for confirming it is the purchase date not the settlement date that counts.

  • I got $20 with split payment from another bank in the same transaction.

  • Got my second $20 cashback after buying $50 wish giftcard at woolies.

    • Did you buy Woolies GC "in-store" or "online(through Woolies GiftCard website)"?

During the Hiver Cashback Deal last year the Woolworths Gift Card portal fell under the Grocery Stores, Supermarkets MCC classification but if Westpac aren't limiting this by MCC and rather by merchant name then the Online portal shows differently to Woolworths in store transactions. Again from the same thread here is a screenshot of someone who bought from the online gift card portal - https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/182767/95676/screensho…

Your issue is that you're buying on the online portal which is a different merchant to Woolworths Supermarkets, as per the comment you are replying to - if you just go in store your cashback with be paid out when you buy a gift card.

        • Thanks for the info!
Was lazy to make a trip in-store so prior purchasing GC online I checked with Westpac CS Rep. Who confirmed online GC purchase "was eligible" - eventhough separate website Westpac would classify under the same Woolies Brand.

As it's been 10 days past my last transaction & no cashback, most likely the system rejected it/excluded.

Can't always trust CS reps, but will be putting in a Complaint to get the $10 due to incorrect info.

Yes best to buy GC in-store

  • My $20 has not come through from my >$50 ALDI shop on Sunday (2nd Week Shop).
The EFTPOS transaction was settled yesterday.

Is anyone else in the same boat?

In contrast, first week's eligible Coles transaction was awarded $20 bonus as soon as it settled.

Transacted 11th and only came today on 18th.

      • I think they wait to see if you are returning stuff back to ALDI.

My Week 1 and Week 2 transactions were paid about 2 days after the transaction settled (which was about 2 days after I made the transaction). I made my Week 3 purchase on Monday evening and it only settled yesterday so I expect the payout will happen tomorrow or Friday.

For reference all transaction were made at ALDI using Insert card + CHQ payment method.

  • If I tap my Google Wallet today (Friday morning), will the transaction go through for this week of the deal? Or is it likely to still be pending and fall under week 4?

  • Last $20 rebate has come through today. I got the card for the SB deals but these extras (this deal and the $15 Amazon GC) have been nice.

  • Got all 4 of my $20's, despite purchasing on Friday or Saturday and the transaction not showing until the week after on Monday.

I did my Week 4 purchase at ALDI on Sunday. It finally came through yesterday (this one was the longest).

      Yay to free money!!!
