Got rejected because I refused to show ID. What the hell, they are trying to find any excuse to turn down the offer. If you think about it, there shouldn't be any reason why your identity matters.

    • -1

makes sense if it's the birthday offer so they can verify your D.O.B.

then again, i always carry my old student card…but haven't been asked for ID yet

    • Manager at Wynyard refused to honour. Made me show ID , then refused to honour as I had used my shortened first name and not my full christian name for the Subway account.
Really not gonna bother with any more Subway deals, not worth the Wynyard staff making you out as a criminal.

  • +4

shit i activated it at 8:45pm tonite… i got 4 hours to redeem and the store is closed….

    • Time to get another account set up

    • Crap I just activated it… And stores don't open till morning D:
Might have to practise my photoshop skills…

  • +2

you only have 4 hours now?! damn! there's supposed to be 33 days left for this promo, it seems Subway is onto us, if they make it harder to claim this freebie in 4 weeks time can you imagine what hoops they're gonna make you jump through by day 33?
    name-check!
    address-check!
    drivers license-check!
    passport ID-check!
    birth certificate-check!

    • lol….soon it will be down to one hour ; )

      • +1

then you'll have to download their app and check-in on the spot lol

    • This is stupid! I just found out about it at midnight. Pressed the activate button and there won't be any shops open for the next 4 hours.

  • is it legal to use this voucher (using diff email IDs) in same Subway store? i.e. multiple usage (with same name but diff time/day and diff email ID) in same subway? Any one had issue? do they track our names on submitted vouchers?

    • +8

No its illegal. It was made illegal under the "Subway Crimes Act" of 1973, and tested in "OzBargain vs Subway" by the supreme court in 2011.

      • lol

Stellarg: just one per customer, officially.

        • But not per day… they sure make it hard to read the T&C's

  • +2

got my free 6 inch steak and cheese and a bottle of powerade.
    CHEERS OP

  • is there a way to tell which Subway stores accept these vouchers? If it lets you select a particular stores does that mean they accept them?

    • +2

when you're selecting the store to activate the voucher, you'll see the "eat fresh club" logo next to participating stores.

  • +5

I got mine yesterday, she even throw in 2 free cookies for somme reason. For some reason it all seemed to taste better because I didnt pay for it.

    • how come i didn't get any cookies :(

  • FYI, I claimed 8 times at 8 different subways stores in 3 days already. But gonna stop now because I'm starting to feel guilty…. :(

    • Are you showing the voucher on your phone? When you register are you using the same mobile for each account with a different name? I just am wondering if you might be tracked down and receive a bill from Subway :P

      • +3

No. They can only prove that you "created" multiple vouchers but there is no proof of your redeeming it.

        • If you use a phone.

        • Does the deal disappear from your account page when you redeem it using a phone?

        • The point is you do not hand anything over to them using a phone so they could not prove how many vouchers were redeemed with the multiple accounts you created using the same mobile number.

        • You don't have to put down your mobile number when signing up.

      • I created many subway accounts using my fake email addresses, claimed the vouchers n printed them out. When I registered, I entered fake mobile numbers. They can track me down and send me a bill, but I'm not gonna pay! cheers

        • Didn't they require mobile phone confirmation code when you were registering?

      • btw, they don't know my address or real email, how can they send me a bill? My friend also claimed 6 times already, he didn't have to bring lunch to work for the whole week this week! Anyway we're feeling guilty now n we're gonna stop being too cheap! Sorry Subway!

        • did you put the same name on all the vouchers? if you did then…

  • -5

I just got my free sub and powerade, tried to coax the kid into letting me have a footloog instead of the free drink as it i never buy drinks but no dice. Couldn't see the difference really but anyway.

    • +1

Apparently Coke is in on the deal and is reimbursing them for the free drinks.

    • -2

You really gotta laugh at some the negs, merely for passing comment.

      • -2

welcome to ozbargain. they will neg at anything. herd mentality here.

  • After activating the deal and getting served which my choice of 6 inch sub and drink i end up going to the counter and they rejected mine cuz i didn't print it out ! fuar. The lady says " we have to collect the vouchers"

    • +1

Get her name and complain to subway, on the actual mobile page of subway, it says that you can show them the voucher from your phone .

You dont have to print it.

      • I tried to show them on my phone (but I printed it aswell) the mobile site wouldn't show me the actual voucher… no idea why.

  • -2

Signed on for one of my colleague; activated and printed the voucher for lunch; then changed the details to another colleague and printed and so on….five people including me got free subway and drink for lunch.submitted the voucher with our name on it…no questions asked…Happy Customers

    • Did you photoshop the voucher?

      • one of the first things I did was try to open it up in inkscape, under the hope that it was a Vector-based PDF and could be easily modified.

Alas, its a bitmap so it would require more work to make it look authentic

        • i needed to tweak the times by 1 hour and what i've noticed in adobe acrobat (not sure about reader) is it lets you select the image itself which can then be pasted onto a .psd. Select Tool.

i'm also wondering if the font used for the "valid from… valid at" text is Arial….?

        • +1

you can use adobe acrobat pro and edit the text right away without photoshop'ing it

        • I don't know where you get your information from, but on mine, the text is a part of the image.

        • i just got adobe pro and will try this tonight

      • I did photoshop a few vouchers for my friend. easy anyway!

      • +1

lol look at all the negs. "don't mention the photoshop. i did it once and i think i got away with it"

  • Just redeemed one last night, they were happy to take it at 5pm, well out of lunchtime hours.

  • Just redeemed again at level 1 Parramatta Westfield.
Ordered first, then showed phone when it came to paying.
I was told that I need to have a printout as the manager is collecting vouchers for redemption… but convinced them otherwise of course :)

    • so they started noting down the names on vouchers?

      • Shrug. She wanted the voucher. I said I don't carry a printer with me, just my phone.

  • thanks for the free lunch! sure beats my can of tuna

    • +1

with a pretty hefty carb load :p … summers coming … just saying

  • +1

If you are looking for some original email addresses then [email protected] and [email protected] are both available

  • the countdown ticker shows that the voucher is valid for 6 hours but voucher only shows 4..?

  • +1

you can sign up everyday for this and take into another store?

    • +2

Yes. I think most people are doing this.

  • i just claimed mine… the lady looked at it and said ok, then another asian lady came over and started talking in there language. i said what she say?

she said "it was a good deal" i said "yeah whos paying for it?" she said "no one, its a stupid decision from head office" … so they wernt too happy about it.

i was gonna get a gatorade, but felt guilty so i just got a cup of coke instead which basically cost them nothing.

    • +1

and 3 hours later i'm feeling a little peckish ;)

  • This is awesome, they're going to have loads of fake accounts.

  • -1

subiaco WA store asked me for ID

  • The glen waverley store inside the Glen are now requesting phone numbers too.

  • Awesome deal!

  • So what spam emails are working? i heard mailinator and 10 minute is no more. i only got 3 subs this week.. I'm enjoying the free lunch. Thanks!

    • +1

Whats wrong with yahoo and gmail accounts? Only take 1 minute to create.

  • -1

Is it officially per cust voucher?
Can use (with diff email ID) on diff days in same store?

  • i just got mine then, i showed my phone and the girl at the counter said ok they did have the cutouts in the store so that helped.

  • -3

What kind of subs can you get? Or what can you put in it?

  • Used it today. Worked well. Printed it out as I figured they'd have no idea. This was fortunate as despite being surrounded by cutouts, they had 'no idea'.

  • +1

    Liz. st asks for ID.

  • -1

asked for ID at Mosman Park WA

  • -1

I've claimed this 10+ times in Canberra, and my girlfriend has claimed this ~5 times.

Also been getting the cokes for the Coke Unleashed points!

    • in same stores multiple times?

      • -5

Yeah, I've been to roughly 6 different subway stores - so roughly four times I've claimed from a store I've been to before. I usually pick really busy places where there's lots of staff if I want to go back again.

e.g. there's a store in Belconnen (ACT) where one guy works on weekends but it's someone different during the business week.

        • +3

I like the ingenuity, but I worry that groups like Subway would be less likely to have such offers if there is abuse by users. Your short-term gain could ultimately be a loss for the greater community.

Most franchises and stores do this to acquire new customers and look at it as a one-time expense, with new business, deeper databases and incremental revenue gained from it. I can see fewer and fewer such offers appearing if customers are not upholding their end.

I suspect mine won't be the majority opinion on this forum…

        • +1

That $9.95 subway you buy, it's worth $3. They will survive. Don't stress!

        • Nice one negging my comment.

Over the past 3-4 years I've probably spent thousands of dollars at Subway. Literally eating it 3-4 times a week when working shift. I think a grand total of 10 free subs isn't going to hinder their business structure.

Why not complain about the 100 or so other people on here who are claiming every day?

        • +4

Why not complain about the 100 or so other people on here who are claiming every day?

i can't speak for them, but personally, i claim once at a different store each time. same thing i've done for the free whopper, free red rooster chips, free can of solo, free darrell lea chocolates, free starmart icecream, free starmart sausage roll, free bottle of pump…you get the idea.

sure, i could probably get away with visiting the same store again and again at different times, but then again they could also refuse to honour the voucher and they would have every right to do so as it technically is "one per person." (we can argue that it's open to interpretation.)

i'm grateful for the freebie in the first place; if i want more - and who doesn't - i don't want to look greedy by hitting the same store again. with the free cornetto icecreams, my mum actually went back to the same caltex store to get a second but only succeeded in getting knocked back and a dirty look lol.

the manager of a store could complain to head office and they would probably be reluctant to do freebies again.

again, that's just my own philosophy..

        • +3

Nice theory… but I'm not allowed to "neg" yet. I do appreciate you returning the favour, though - even though it's a one way street.

        • i didn't neg you, MikeMiz, if that's what you're accusing me of

        • -1

why the big hoo haa about negs. people give them out for all sorts of reason. even for asking questions. so just cop it on the chin and move on.

        • i know, hey. i lol'd when i got negged for mentioning photoshop.

not worth getting worked up about trivial stuff on the internet :)

        • i even got neg'ed for asking a relatively innocent question

        • +1

No tdw, that wasn't directed at you.

        • +2

thanks for clarifying. my apologies for accusing you of accusing me :)

  • i nearly got rejected at blaxland road campbelltown for not having my full name as written on my drivers licence ( i wrote my first 4 letters of my name on subway site for privacy reasons)… got the shits with the lady…demanded manager/supervisor on duty… had a talk with him and then finally agreed to the sub… WONT BE GOING BACK THERE!

  • Morley (Russell St) WA store initially asked me for ID, then upgraded that request to photo ID. since they already made my sub, they accepted my non-photo ID.

    • i wouldnt have shown them any ID. next ill have to show them my date of birth and all other personal details. all over a sub?

      • my non-photo ID is an atm card. forgot to bring down my old student card which has my full name and photo. i personally don't mind showing either.

but like i said further up the page, i can understand if they want to see ID with your D.O.B. [but only] for the free birthday sub.

  • the site isn't allowing new registrations. They've been ozbargained!

  • +3

    It's working now

  • +1

Seems like all stores are now demanding I.D now.

    • So? I don't think they can remember our names…

      • +2

There's a store in Mt Waverley (I think) that's keeping vouchers/names and checking to see whether they have reedemed the offer previously. Someone I know got caught out (and no it wasn't me)

        • My friends and I have been to a couple of Mt Waverley branches and they didn't bother to check names or anything. They just glance at the voucher on our phones and make us our sandwich.. Phew. But thanks for the heads up!
