I was looking around for a new credit card and came across this one. Not a huge fan of bank rewards programs, but points can be converted to 90,000 velocity or alternatively a minimum $800 gift cards.

Offer:

Earn 180,000 extra ANZ Reward Points and get $150 back to your new ANZ Rewards Black card when you spend $3,000 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months from approval. T&Cs apply.

Card Features:

  • Earn 2 ANZ Reward Points for every $1 spent up to and including $5,000 per statement period.
  • Earn 1 ANZ Reward Point for every $1 spent over $5,000 per statement period on eligible purchases.
  • 20.24% p.a. interest rate on purchases.
  • Minimum credit limit of $15,000.

Annual Fee: $375

Mod: Previous post 4/1/23 (Duplicate exception, more than 6 months old). It was also changed from 150k to 180k points on 4/5/23. This deal has been marked as long expiry as no expiry date is listed, to avoid the deal auto expiring after 45 days. Incorrect annual fee corrected. Cashback amount is not a discount on annual fee.

        Just passed 12 months on my previous Black card (confirmed by phone), applied today and got instant approval. Very easy.

  • Does this card have overseas transaction and currency conversion fees? Struggling to find the answer on ANZ's site.

      From their brochure: We charge 3% of any overseas transaction using your ANZ Credit Card or Visa PAYCARD. The amount on which the fee is charged may include fees and other charges related to the overseas transaction (excluding any Cash Advance Fee that may be charged).
      Overseas Transaction Fees are not charged on ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures Credit Cards.

    Got immediately approved, card arrived a couple of days later. made purchases and 2 weeks later got the points and account credit.

    Just messaged them to close the account and request fee refund, which they agreed!

    • do you know how long we can keep the points after the card closure?

      • I believe you could lose access immediately. I would spend them before closure.

          The points are managed under their separate rewards webpage with different logins etc. I still have access to my one from a card closed months ago.

            @vawiyoci: Just double checked my closure notice letter, they give you 90 days to redeem any reward points.

    Closed the card today and asked for refund, they provided $320 refund (I got the card on 12 Oct 2023).

    • What was your method of contact? I messaged them through the app and got told no refunds due to t&c etc even though I only had the card open for over a month. Same response for previous ANZ cards too.

      • I messaged them in app after I confirmed the card disappeared from app (closed). I also got refund for anz qff black before I got this anz rewards black.

        • Wow really must be luck of the draw then since I've also been getting family relatives into card churning and I don't recall anyone of them successfully getting refunds with any of the ANZ FF or reward point cards upon asking.

          • @johnjones8: The only time I got refused was westpac rewards platinum, saying I got annual fee cashback so I can't get refund. With these two anz cards I got both cashback and refund.

            • @RTY: Currently on their low rate card with the cashback offer so will give it another try once that one's done.

        • Hey mate, did you get the bonus point from both QFF card and this ANZ reward card?
          Ts&Cs says "You are not eligible for this offer if you currently hold or have held an ANZ Rewards credit card in the last 12 months." so not sure if QFF is counted as an ANZ Rewards CC.

          I see gembel said yes below but hoping to get a 2nd confirmation before applying :)

            QFF, anz rewards, and normal anz cc are three product lines and have separate 12-month period.
            I closed last one in Jan24 for home loan; as soon as loan was settled I got anz platinum and have closed the card 6 April after I got $300 cashback.

    • So considering the $150 cashback you got refunded more than you paid in fee!

  • Easy and successful application for me, but not for my additional cardholder. She had to go to ANZ branch and even then we are still waiting for the card's temporary PIN code.
    And for those who is going to have additional cardholders please note the following T&C with the regards to associated fees:
    For Additional Cardholders on ANZ Rewards Platinum and ANZ Rewards Black, an annual Additional Cardholder Fee of $10 and an annual Rewards Program Services Fee of $55 will apply per Additional Cardholder on the account. These fees are current as at today's date and are subject to change. The fee information displayed on this page applies to new customers only.

    • Why do you need additional card for her when she can add your card to her phone?

      • Good point, didn't thought about the option. I guess there are some shops/situations where a physical card might be needed, but not that often. Next time I probably will save those 65 dollars, thanks.

          I haven't encountered a shop that not support tap for a long time - i think at least since 2017, when we both got smartphones with nfc.

          Having said that, i still need the physical card at some hotels at checkin, car rentals, car parks.

  • Any recent DP's on the 150 cashback. I got my bonus points in the 2nd statement which was last week but haven't yet got the 150CB.
    Previously the CB and bonus have come together. Wondering if others have got their CB and if so how long did it take?

    Closed the card last month and asked for the annual fee refund via chat but they refused.

    Partner closed few days ago and requested same thing and they approved the refund !!!!

    • Chat refused to refund and told me to call the closure team…

    • Also had a different ANZ card closed and my refund request refused over chat and then the following statement showed a positive balance with the refund …. Not sure what's going on over there.

  • How do you get the $150 cash back? T&Cs say you need a cash rewards account, does it go to your cash rewards account or show up as a credit on your ANZ credit card account?

  • Spent 3k, got my 2nd statement, and no $150 cashback and no bonus points. Normally both are added at the end of the current statement.

      iirc you should get it once you've paid off the $3k

      otherwise you can spend $3k, get the bonus, and then refund it all

  • i just closed this card and they would not pro rata the annual fee, just fyi. i tried both via in app chat and also on the phone.

  • Closed the account on chat today and they agreed to refund $320 annual fee to show up on next statement. I can't see the account anymore, so does anyone who got refunded know how to see the next statement?

      View Statements > Select your closed card account in the drop down menu. Open up chat and ask for a cheque of the refund to be mailed to you.

      Yep, I have mortgage with ANZ and I've been approved for this card.

      I've also been approved for ANZ Frequent Flyer Black as well (not at the same time).

  • Anyone successfully got a pro-rata refund from this?

  • For the people who were successful in getting some of the annual fee refunded; did you contact them before you cancelled or cancel then contact them once its been fully closed?
    And since the rewards are on a separate login, would I be fine not spending the points yet? (Could be safe and use them anyway, but just curious)
