  • I just renewed for a 5 year domain thing for $99 elsewhere. :/

    • Just buy a new domain!

  • +1

$42.95 for 5 years beats $99.75 from VentraIP

  • bought last week from Google domain for $20 for 5 years

  • Op if I transfer my .au domain over, do the settings automatically get transferred over?

    • Yes, you can transfer in and keep your current hosting setup, you simply need to enter your current nameservers (not ours) when transferring in. Transfer in at the link here. If you're not sure what your nameservers are, send us an email at [email protected] and we'll handle it for you.

      • Op, can I schedule the transfer date?

        • If you keep nameservers the same, your email and website keep functioning - so there's generally no reason you'd need to schedule it. Once you submit the transfer, it can take a day or two to process from your old registrar, so when exactly it transfers is out of our control. The domain's expiry date remains the same.

  • I tried to buy a .au domain name as an individual, but when being asked for supporting documents (driver's licence) I'm directed to an http link with no security certificate in place. Is this going to be addressed? Asking for personal documents or details via a non encrypted web page is a huge red mark for any potential new customers.

    • After working with support this is now resolved. The identity vweifi portal is encrypted with an SSL certificate.

  • Will I be able to buy .au domain for my personal use as individual? I don't have abn/acn etc. Can I provide driver's license and identity proof?
MyDomain doesn't need any abn/acn. They just need driver's license for .au domain.

    • Yes fill your name (Registrant Name) and select Citizen/Resident

If you get an error for Registrant ID, put 000000 , told by their customer support

  • Let's see how it goes, started 2 transfers in, nice price.

  • Am I meant to buy the SSL certificate separately?

    • Free SSL is included with all hosting plans. It's automatic, there's nothing you need to buy.

      • I bought a domain and next to the domain link it states 'no SSL detected' - how do I go about fixing this?

  • Be cautious with HostingCloud. Today, I found the domain I wanted to purchase marked as "available" on their site, so I placed an order and bought it using my debit card, which was charged successfully, and I received an invoice. However, for the next five minutes, the domain status remained "pending." During that time, I purchased the same domain from another registrar, who successfully registered it. Funnily enough, when I couldn't secure the registration with HostingCloud and reached out to customer service for a refund, Blake comes back to me and he not only locked my account and permanently closed it but also labeled my order as "Fraud." I find it ridiculous since I registered with my real information and paid with my debit card. It seems they failed to acquire the domain but marked me as a fraudster. With such a bad experience, I would advise others to proceed with caution.

Is there a reason to go with this provider over Godaddy ($20usd for first year including domain name + hosting)? Thanks
