Morning OzBargain!

Thank you for your support on our previous Lotus deal!

As promised, we’re ramping up the deals for you all as we have much better resources now! You say we listen, and today we’re bringing in an awesome budget PC for 1080P gaming.

I know what you’re thinking the 4060 series cards are horrible and the 3060 Ti is better for less! You’re right. The problem is, we’re coming to an end of life for 3060 Ti cards and there’s very little stock around. Inevitably, the changeover to the 4060 series is now and it’s a matter of time before we accept the new series graphics cards. We’ve scored a great deal on residual stock before all prices are going up by roughly 10% due to the Aussie dollar. The 4060s are a sensational entry-level card!

The 4060s support DLSS 3 AI Frame generation whereas the 3060s don’t, albeit not all games support this framework – it’s awesome to have still. In short, the 4060 performs slightly short of the 3060 Ti but with games that support frame generation, the 4060s value comes in.

1% bank transfer discount still applies! Please choose bank transfer in checkout and send us a message. We will send you an updated invoice with the discount.

If you don't fancy this kind of PC, we understand - our super popular AM5 4070 Lotus deal still available, we've secured more stock to cater for demand

Done! Was doing this late last night haha.

“Fix the spelling on Bank Trasnfer”.

      The ironing is delicious…

  • Will this post RE4 remake with decent graphics?

    • +2

      Hi Bashar,

According to this article the recommended system requirements are quite low - https://videogames.si.com/guides/resident-evil-4-remake-pc-r…

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel Core i7 8700
      Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 5700 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
      Dedicated video memory: 8GB VRAM

You'd be sweet on 1080P from what I can see!

According to howmanyfps.com it's saying with our Icebox specs on 1080P it'd be an estimated average of 86FPS on max :) - https://howmanyfps.com/games/resident-evil-4?search=residen (though I don't think this is the remake version, it's the closest I could get).

    • With amd fsr on quality or balanced you will get some decent frames at 1080p and even 1440p

  • -2

On an unrelated note, why don’t we have more Icebox specials on OzBargain anymore?

    Come in Techni Ice…

  • Would you build this without the GFX card? I have one but just need a pc for it..

No problem at all, shoot us a message on our live chat and we'll work it out :).

really good prices on gaming pcs. 4060 is no slouch ..definitely not entry level.

  • +3

    Ryzen 5 5500

I think it's worth noting that the 4060 in this system will be running with 8x lanes of PCIe3 not PCIe4, that can bottleneck bandwidth hungry games https://youtu.be/0f7NIeNEV78?t=683 (video is about RX 7600 but same concept applies)

    • +1

Thanks for that! Will be worth upgrading the motherboard. I'll find a more cost-effective solution with the B550 series motherboards, just need to confirm stock availability.

    • Please clarify your comments for non-tech savvy readers '…system will be running with 8x lanes of PCIe3', thanks.

      MSI B450M-A PRO MAX has 'PCI-E x16' -> https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450M-A-PRO-MAX/Specificatio…

      • The 4060 has only 8x PCIe lanes and the CPU only supports PCIe3

        • Thanks for sharing.

May be buyers should focus on the FPS this system deliver: as a guide-> https://www.gpucheck.com/gpu/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4060/amd-ryz…

Internet write-ups tend to simplify things & single out 1 technical-specification for a part that lower/bottleneck its performance, eg 4060: 'PCle 4.0 x8' or R5-5500: 'PCIe 3.0'. But in reality it's actually the interaction of ALL-of-its-specifications that is delivering the FPS.

Eg. 4060: FPS-output is governed by Core Clock 1830/2460 MHz, 8GB Vram, Memory Bus Width 128-bit, Transistors (Billion) 18.9, PCle 4.0 x8 lane…list likely to be IN-complete.

  • b450 ?

That's correct, trying to keep prices as low as possible for OzBargain. It's the most cost-effective board for us in stock right now.

Can vouch for Nebula and Lawrence. Instant reply from Lawrence (even after midnight…). Paid in full last Sunday on the previous 4070 deal, emailed with tracking on WED, arrived in Melbourne on Thursday, delivered on Friday. Well packaged, cable included.

    I wonder…if Lawrence ever goes to sleep…

    • Good to know. Hope you don’t change NebulaPC

I do not need another PC.
I do not need another PC.
I do not need another PC.

The Darkflash dk361 is very nice looking case but the included fans are quite loud (they're pegged at 1000+ rpm) I've got it in white.

    • Yup, that's sadly a downfall of the more lower-end cases. They don't use a sys fan header, meaning you can't control the speeds. They use molex power and to best of my knowledge it's a set speed.

  • I’m after a system that can do Lightroom and photoshop, any suggestions? I don’t want to spend more than $1500 and it doesn’t have to be a beast

    • Hi Tightm8,

This build would do well with light Photoshop and Lightroom usage with just a CPU upgrade to 5600X and an aftermarket cooler. It definitely won't be a beast but it'll be a great all-rounder for productivity and 1080p gaming!

      • Thanks mate, will play around see if I can get it passed the ceo (wife)

        • No worries, take your time and play around with the options. For better performance for your usage, it'd be CPU and RAM upgrades. No need for an upgraded GPU, you can even downgrade to a 3060 if you'd like to save some more coin.

        • whootish

  • +1

Any chance of an i5 / rtx 4080 / 32gb ddr5 deal? I know it's not budget but I'm in the market and a lot of the pre-built ones around the place with 4080s all seem to give them a fatal flaw (e.g., ddr4 ram, or a 750W PSU, or a ridiculously small ssd).

    • +1

I want to aim for an AM5 4080 deal but there's already a shortage of 40 series GPUs and the new 4080s that have come in are very expensive. It won't fare well with the community. I will try my absolute best when things settle with our dollar and stock!

Our best value 4080 DDR5 build would but an upgrade pathway from our Lotus deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/794787

Check it out and let me know if it suits mate!

      • Thanks! I did get the Lotus to a good value 4070 ti build but there isn't a 4080 option; only 4070 and 4070 Ti tabs show under GPU?

EDIT: nevermind, needed to change the case to one big enough for the 4080.

        • +1

Yep, that’s right. Some cases can’t it fit it, that’s why. Hopefully that ticks your boxes. Let me know if you have any questions!

          • @Nebula PC: Thanks for replying! One more question - are you able to do builds minus the GPU?

While my old i5 6600k and the rest of my build from 2016 are well past their use-by, I do still have an RTX 2080 and I'm on the fence whether to replace it too given as you mentioned RTX 4080s (probably the minimum that would make sense to me as a replacement) are pretty pricey this gen, so could maybe wait another year for 5080s.

I'd consider maybe getting a complete new build, but with the GPU slot left empty but PSU cables in place ready to go for me to chuck the 2080 in myself. Is that something that would be possible? I'd queried another PC builder before but they said they wouldn't do that as it wouldn't let them still have their warranty since it wouldn't be 100% their build.

            • +1

@AXiS: Yes, we can. Send us a message on our live chat and we can organise that for you :). We are all for customisation and right to repair if you've purchased a good from us. As long as there's no customer induced damage all components that we've supplied will have warranty without a doubt.

    • keen to know as well…PC noob here

      • +3

Haha, that's all good fellas, no noob questions here. In short, the 4060 is the new generation to the 3060. Our case also has better airflow, it comes with four ARGB fans :). Here are the benchmarks for 4060 vs 3060 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_wfUTlf5Ns. This should answer your question!

Our service is also a difference (if that matters to you).

        Overall, very similar.

        • will it be able to run Black Myth Wukong? hope it could be future proof…

          • @CharityCase: This machine is made to rip up 1080P gaming. For estimated fps check out howmanyfps.com, it’s an awesome site to get ballpark figures.

      • +1

That techfast one is itx build (smaller dimensions) than this one. System performance wise it's pretty much the same for most workload (browsing, word processing, streaming videos). Gaming performance or media focused work…I would say 4060 in this build is better as it's more power efficient, newer by one gen. So depends on what you will be doing.

Do you want smaller case…Vs GPU (gaming) performance per watt. The GPU is where the price difference is at. So both prices are fair.

Techfast is also well known for it taking weeks to deliver an order… So deduct a point for that.

        • I don't understand how that deal gets so much upvotes? Looking at comments seems like it is ITX and kind of rarer to have a deal of ITX build?

          • +1

@StephenCurry: Retail ITX boards look like complete ripoffs to me, which is why that was a popular deal, they managed to get a shipment of biostar itx boards it seems, which are more reasonably priced ~$100

          • +1

@StephenCurry: Quite a lot of demand for ITX builds it seems, especially with that kind of value! ITX in general cost a lot more but they managed to make it work.

            • @Nebula PC: The premium is on the mobo and PSU isn't it? (pay more to get less). If pick the right case there are itx cases that will take ATX size psu and avoid the SFX premium. After that all other parts are the same.

That techfast deal…I would have concerns over Biostar mobo, PSU (didn't see brand listed)…are where they skimped. Where as this one…all the parts are brand / named, love that op even list the CPU fan even tho it's the stock AMD fan…that's the level of detail and transparency we love.

But yes…I would never consider getting mid or full tower. ITX all the way, the smaller the better. Rent is expensive…can't afford the real estate for the case to stand on. :p

              • @hippo2s: ITX there’s a premium all around, but yes primarily what you mentioned and more.

          • +1

@StephenCurry: Credit to owner for sharing & may be the devil is in the details: https://forums.overclockers.com.au/threads/itx-gaming-pc-tec…

Maybe people shouldn't compare that ITX to this deal ?

  • Does installing linux void the warranty?

    • +1

No, you can do whatever you'd like as we fully support this kind of approach. Just as long as there's no customer induced damage, you're free to do whatever you'd like.

  • Does this come installed with Windows all ready to go?

    • All OS options are available on our website, our PCs come plug and play ready to go with everything installed :).

  • How future proof is this? If I have $300 to upgrade what should I swap out for? Also does it have wifi-6? Thanks. Sorry another PC noob.

    • It is reasonably future proof…but that depends if you chase latest AAA games or just genersl use. So…IMO. Depends on what you will use it for.

General use (and light gaming)…good for 3-5 years.. till whatever is out of warranty dies. If you game AAA… probably 2-3 years.

      Upgrades…

General browsing YouTube Netflix media… Spend that 300 on a nice monitor upgrade or accessories like a good chair, keyboard mouse. Quality of life upgrades…Or keep in the bank.

If you do heavy media (video) editing, then maybe larger SSD, 32 GB RAM total and whatever leftover on CPU.

If gamer, up the GPU to 4060 Ti if you are into AAA titles. If you do Minecraft or older games, then…some nice accessories like a good mouse, keyboard…chair… monitor.

    • All good!

@hippo2s has answered most of your question, thank you!

I believe the Mag Mortar motherboard has Wi-Fi 6, the base board has no wifi with ethernet only.

RAM and CPU is something to consider with a $300 upgrade. It will depend on what you’re doing.

    • Thank you both! I do light gaming (Valorant, Anno, DOTA 2) but lots of web browsing (50+ tabs) and video editing once a year.

      • +1

I’d suggest a RAM and CPU upgrade that your budget allows. Prioritise RAM first if your budget comes short as you’re using a lot of it with the browsing tabs open. The GPU is more than enough for those kind of games on 1080P.

  • Hi,
I'm not sure what would be the best build for me.
I'll mainly do programming and would like 64gb ram in terms of gaming , i would like to play racing games,
    arsetta
    iRacing
    f123
On a 2k 165hz monitor i own or vr headset.
    Budget around 2k.

    Any suggestions?

    • For gaming you probably don't need 64gb, 16 or 32 gb is usually more than enough.

      • OK, would any of these nebula builds work for me?
        Cards i was thinking,
        4070
        6700xt
        4070ti

        Cpu
I5? It i7? Don't know much about amd chips

        • A decent, recent, i5 cpu, new or from within the last couple of years will be enough for gaming with those GPU cards you listed, unlikely to bottleneck you in almost all cases. Though clearly a recent i7 is better, I don't think it is needed.

I also have no clue about AMD cpu's, just Intel.

Any of those GPUs should be fine for the next few years IMHO, depending on what games you are playing and what resolution and what quality settings in the game. The 4070 / 4070 ti are better and newer but you should be ok with the 6700xt (at least for a few more years), and the 6700xt is cheaper.

All advise of mine, take with a grain of salt, im not an expert, just a bit of a gamer.

        • +1

          Hi @thierry,

Id recommend at least our Lotus build for 1440P gaming with a CPU upgrade that your budget allows with a nice aftermarket to air cooler. It’ll set you back no more than $2000. This Icebox build is more for 1080P gaming.

    • 'On a 2k 165hz monitor': even if your monitor is 27" but you can't see any pixelation, is gaming @ 1440P any more enjoyable/immersive compare to 1080P ?
You'll pay around 50% more for a system & may be that preference is unnecessary ?

If ok with 1080P: a system around the grunt of RX6700XT is adequate.

A recent RX6800 deals that is bang-for-$: but need to wait for similar LAST-generation GPUs to come up & MUST-know what parts to upgrade (sellerS intentionally UNDER-spec. to get power-prices but this bottleneck their-systems)….roughly $1.2K get you a system that can handle ANY-games @ 1080P with a decent grunt-in-reserve -> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/789412

  • Nice

  • Any ITX deals anytime soon?

  • Just wanted to add support for these guys! I got in on the 4070 Lotus build last Monday, asked if I could change the GPU over on Thursday.
I got a message back within the hour confirming that they could do this and had a new invoice ready to go.
Really amazing customer service and would sincerely recommend to anyone considering a build.

    Does this come with windows?

    • Hi Helpme,

You have to option to purchase a copy of Windows from us on our site when you are selecting your parts.

  • Anyone considering this for Starfield: Gamers Nexus has done benchmarking of early access build. RTX4060 got 51-30 FPS on 1080p, high detail setting. https://youtu.be/7JDbrWmlqMw?si=1g3a6jRj3p20XLuM

  • how long is this available for?
