    $50!? ;)

  • Price in title OP!!!

  • +3

Whoops guys… Fixed now. That would've been the bargain of all bargains!

  • +13

it's a bit overpriced, similar one was available for 799$ (same perf, slightly worse MB).
Not sure why everyone mentioning the AUD on other posts, it's been fluctuating for some time now.

    • -3

Which one? Sorry can’t seem to see which one you’re referring to.

    • It's dropped the most recently in the last 1 - 2 months since the rba started holding. Before that was stable or so around 0.67.

Source - personal experience having to review the rates at work and forward USD settlements.

      • Some truth…or may be the distributors (not OzBargain-sellers) are always looking for excuses to raise prices ?

    • +1

'overpriced': it seems ozbozb writes to influence & may be it's about preferences.

For $150, you get slightly higher-tier parts & TF deals not listing brand & model# attract a discount for the unknown, better Mobo (better VRM, wifi-option & features), 3600MHz faster-ram, 80+Bronze efficiency rated, & Antec NX200 website noted 1 fan-only (deal listed 6-Jun & 29-Jun OP responded '…NX200M comes with 2 intake fans and a single rear exhaust fan'….helloooooo 🫣

ALSO, with these low-end systems, there are higher-proportion of novice-buyers who are NON-tech-savvy & often get caught-out by cheap-deals.
Be it under-spec parts designed to hit a low-price, but buyers must know which part(s) to upgrade in-order for their system to be more balance, ie 'fit for purpose'.
Recently, some cheap-deals has poor airflows & buyers must install more case-fans.

    • could you share the link if possible? I'm considering to purchase this pc

  • In time for middle of the road Starfield framerates. Woot.

  • +2

In case anyone thinking about buying a new PC to play the new game Starfield, this PC is not good enough (for high resolution and high graphics setting).

    • There are upgrade paths available if you need higher res and graphics settings.

    • Gamers nexus has a video on FPS benchmarks. 3060 Ti gets 30-50fps on 1080p. Playable.

      • +2

        id cry on 30-50fps

      • +1

That Gamers Nexus's setup also include faster 12700 CPU and DDR5 RAM, so you are more likely looking at 30-40fps at 1080p. Not what I would call "middle of the road Starfield framerates", more like lower-end road. I would call 1440p resolution at 60fps as middle of the road performance.

        • Depends on your settings. Using the medium preset with 1080p native (or HWUB’s performance settings, which i recommend), you should be able to get 40-50fps pretty easily in the heaviest areas, maybe even more. Plus, some parts of the game are much lighter than others. Most of the gameplay happen around these lighter parts so i’d say you’ll be fine. Also the game is very light on CPU. 11400f will almost never be the bottleneck here, even on high crowd density.

    • Wow that's unreal, the game sure is intensive.

      • Future updates and optimisations for NVIDIA cards/drivers in particular should help when they're released

And DLSS when they officially add it!

        • I wonder how many FPS playing via Xbox Cloud

      • just as well I have zero interest in space sci-fi, seems so fake lol

classic fantasy is where it’s at

        • Huh? Classic fantasy is more real than space sci-fi?

    • My trusty GTX1070 has never let me down … it will play Starfield well right?… right guys? …..?

      • +1

        1070ti is minimum they specify.

I suspect on lowest settings you'd still be ok but it depends how sensitive you are to perfect fidelity and frame rates

      • 1070 on Gamers Nexus got 24-17 FPS on 1080p High detail setting. https://youtu.be/7JDbrWmlqMw?si=ldARw2EWR-yJ6D23

        • @hippo2s So you're telling me there's a chance…….. yeah!

          • @captainmac: With FSR… maybe?

          • @captainmac: Above FPS were with High detail setting. You can always turn the details down…I guess, apparently you get roughly 5 FPS each step down, they did notice the game FPS scales up/down pretty linearly. Also those are FPS counts during combat scenes which are heavy.

And you have Nvidia driver and game based optimization to come in following months.

So as long as you are not picky with details and some jerkiness.

    • +1

While it's good enough for 1440p60 with FSR2/DLSS on medium-high settings, I wouldn't advise this system, or generally buying new gear if you're on a GTX 1060, 1660, RTX 2060, 3050, or better.

Save your cash for better value, or start your upgrade path to something like AM5, as that's where the value is going to be until at least after the RX 7700/7800 launch.

    • May be RX-6800XT / RTX-3080Ti thereabouts & fingers cross for a final-stock-clearance ?

Starfield is the equivalent of Cyberpunk released in 2020, & guess why the gaming-industry is heading in this direction ?

Strange that many write-up suggested Nvidea's recommended GPU is only RTX-2080 & most say the same thing…who is really writing them ?

  • +2

Bought previous deal with similar components
CPU does ok for gaming when power limits unlocked, but recommend a tower cooler as the factory one is crap (as usual)

Do note there is no cheap upgrade path if you need more CPU performance in future though

Good little combo and my build arrived quickly, safely and nicely cable managed.
Spare parts like M.2 heatsink and sata cables were in the box.

  • Is it OEM or retail Windows 11 Home?

    • It's OEM.

      • Yes - a legit business is going to help people pirate software /s

If you don’t think MS should have your money, feel free to try Linux - it’s free.

Not sure that theft has a place on OzB

          • +1

@ab c: No self respecting business is going to condone software piracy, and if they are skimping on the cost of a Windows License and directing customers to obtain Windows without a valid license to use it, I would start to wonder what other questionable behaviour they are comfortable with.

  • only 2 slots for 3.5" in the case? :(

    • +1

If you need more than youll find you need to grab an old or specialist case as this is normal now

    • Yeah, there's quite a few cases coming out now with limited 3.5" bays. I bought a corsair 4000D airflow last year (BEAUTIFUL CASE, and a LOT bigger than expected…. Let alone the 5/7k's) and it only had 2 slots for 3.5" and 4 2.5" ssd slots/option. Other brands are doing the same now. I spose since M.2 dives are cheap and ssd more mainstream, they could be phasing out 3.5" in cases, same as the did with 5.25". Anybody else notice these changes??
Wish they brought back at least 1× 5.25" slot

      • What are you using 5.25 for? Them floppies drives were the thing back den. Thanks.

        • I'd use it for an optical drive. I have a external 5.25" enclosure for my bluray drive but would rather have it in he case. Used for burning my cd's onto HDD.

  • 1080p starfield rig

  • Any 4080 intel builds coming up? Or will those only start when 14th gen drops

  • -1

on the lookout for a deal on i9 and 16GB video card, they are my non negotiables :)

  • Is it possible to get 1 screen and a gaming pc for $1k flat?

  • 3 years ago hardware setup but price is good. Personally, I would put down another $200~300 to get Intel 13 gen and RTX4060

  • Wow. A gaming PC I actually like the look of. No rainbows. Kudos.

  • You gotta love computer nerds coming on these deals and saying ‘if anyone wants to play Starfield at 4K 60fps this isn’t it’.

No shit Sherlock, it’s a sub $1k build. Pretty sure those that want to play at those frame rates would know this kind of pc has no chance at achieving that.

    • I think it's like those Crysis comments from the last century.
