Google Chromecast 4K with Google TV White $67 (RRP $97) + Delivery ($0 in-Store/ C&C/ to Metro) @ Officeworks

820

Google Chromecast 4K with Google TV streams the entertainment that you love in up to 4K HDR. I prefer this to the Amazon Firestick 4K Max, which is also on special.
-It's designed for enjoying your favourite media up to 4K HDR quality.
-It organises all your apps, movies and shows onto one screen for easy navigation.
-It provides personal recommendations based on your subscriptions, viewing history and content that you own so you can find new favourites easily.
-Cast from hundreds of compatible Android and iOS apps directly from your phone, laptop, or tablet. And mirror your Chrome browser tab to your TV.
-It’s family-friendly allowing you to create a children's profile. Pick from a selection of playful themes and set parental controls to restrict what content can be seen, limit watching time, and set a bedtime.
-It includes a remote with Google Assistant, so you can search for shows and movies using just your voice.***
-Group Chromecast with your Nest speakers or displays to fill your home with sound. Then control them by using your voice or the app.
-Chromecast works with almost any TV with an HDMI port. Just plug it in, connect to Wi-Fi and start streaming.
A 2 year warranty is included.

Stupid question, I have a google tv (purchased with the Netflix deal)
Anyway of knowing if it's 4k version?

  • Price matching/beating JBHIFI for 2 weeks now.

  • Was $59 a few weeks ago

    • Where? For the 4K?

    • Was recently less than $50 with the cashbacks and eBay gift card promos if you knew how to stack them ;)

  • Does anyone know if there is a Kayo app on this? Casting has been playing funny buggers with my Chromecast, wondering if this will work any better

    • Pretty sure there's Kayo in the play store for this

    • Yes and Kayo works perfectly

      • It's much easier than casting from my phone. Shame kayo won't step up to 4k streaming.

      • Can you skip back and forth 15s with the remote? I hate having to press the small skip button on the phone screen when trying to skip in between balls in the cricket.

    • yes

    • Does your Kayo play different streams than what you selected? eg; I’ll cast a basketball game, but horse racing or something will stream?

      • Nope, just slow and shit

Anyone know if there's a new Chromecast being planned, hence the reason for the repeated price drops on this model?

    • +3

Given it's about 3 years old now, it's probably due for a refresh. It could definitely do with a bit of a speed/storage bump. But who knows. If you need it now, just get it - it might be another 3 years before we see an update. If you can wait a bit, maybe see what comes in the lead-up to the holiday shopping period?

    • They have discontinued the Google Chromecast now

I cant find a single article on the net that verifies your statement. The Chromecast HD was launched earlier this year, and the Chromecast 4K hasnt been discontinued nor any announcement has been made on its replacement at this time.

hope so as it needs more storage space

I joined JB perks for a $10 voucher, price matched (though they already have it for $69 anyway) so got it for $57.

Worth it for ad-free youtube alone.

    • You need a premium membership for that.

      • +4

        No you don't.

        Simply sideload this APK.

        • I thought Google has been clamping down on this

          • @fuzor: Works fine on both GTV and NVidia Shield

This thing is still $60+ after so many years is beyond me

  • I have the older version of chromecast without remote version.

Can i use this chromecast without unlock my ipad? Can i just press the netflix button from the remote?

Feels like want to upgrade but if this still need to unlock my ipad feels like same thing

    • +1

This is a standalone device - you don't need your iPad or any other device!

It's essentially an Android TV box, and isn't just for casting

  • I got one of these from amazon - same price. Although it appears to be out of stock now.
