    • Thank you, I didn't get the bonus trade in voucher instead used the old newsletter promo
MA-**** to get additional $50 off. So ued 2 newsletter promos.

  • +1

Just ordered the S23 ultra 512gb for $744.10

    Trade in s21 ultra for $400 + $500 bonus (using flip/fold code)
    10% loyalty discount
    $100 discount
    $50 newsletter discount

    Thanks OP!

Although I kinda wish I didn't have the $500 bonus trade in as I wouldn't have gone ahead and bought it.

    • What is the flip/fold code?
What did you have to say to get the 10% discount and $100 discount?

      • +1

        It's targeted email.
Just ask for a 10% loyalty discount via email.
The $100, just ask for the code on chat.

        • Thanks guess the targeted email is the difficult part.

          • +1

@motlking: Yep. Very easy to get the $100 and 10% codes. Just say you want to purchase S23 and if you can get a code.

The flip/fold code was sent to my email yesterday by Samsung. I didn't get the original $500 trade in bonus meant for S23 though.

Could have traded in some old bluetooth earphones or an older phone and sold your s21 for $600-$700 if it was in good condition 😬

      • Doubt I could have sold it for $600. $500 maybe but then I'd have to deal with low ballers, time wasters, no shows etc.

I had a quick look on marketplace before trading it in and there were a few s21 ultras anywhere between $400 to $700 but a lot of them have been there for a while so I just didn't bother.

    • how long did it take to get the %10 discount??

      • 24 hours

        • they asked me if i want %10 off or %15 (with no trade in)
they also are asking me for IMEI number to give me the code, is that needed? what if im sending in a random headphone

          • @Roe Jogan: Yes they asked for IMEI number too before they could generate a code for me so I gave them the IMEI of my s21 ultra which I'm trading in

          • @Roe Jogan: I got given the 10% instantly by calling them up, dial 9 then 4 when prompted to get to the right department. I just said i've been using apple phones exclusively but the event was lackluster so i'd be willing to switch to samsung if there were any discounts they could offer. The guy put me through to the loyalty team and they emailed it to me on the spot, no questions, no IMEI required. Could be worth a shot if you get stuck with the IMEI part.

            • @bbilmore: no i have IMEI for old samsungs, my concern is once i provide it, would i have to send in that specific phone or could i still send in a shitty headphone

              • @Roe Jogan: Tell them you don't remember your IMEI as you used Samsung years back…they will give 10% voucher.

              • @Roe Jogan: IMEI for code doesn't have to match traded in device. No issue.

                • @maxwellish: called and got the damn %10 code in email now, all this work and the phone is not even for me im buying for a family member..
is it ok to send your driving licence photo to that dodgy company for the trade in? are people ok with doing this?

  • For orders that were shipped yesterday eve, can anyone see the tracking number? Mine still says shipped but no tracking number when I click Track Order button.

    • same. sitting in front of the house and finger crossing. lol

      • lol. got mine delivered by Startrack at 8 am today.

      • +1

you got no life sitting in front of the house waiting for a phone?

        • thats why we like WFH ! haha

    • You should get a text message from startrack.

I received a text earlier this morning and the phone has been delivered just now.

    • Jump on the chat, i got my tracking from there. The "Track Item" button on the orders page doesnt resolve

    • I got an startrack sms this morning. Its going to be delivered by Auspost.

  • Does anyone know if this would work with a second hand phone?

  • Trying to buy the S23 - When i try and apply the trade in code for the extra $200 it simply says "The code you entered did not affect your order. Please note, codes may only be valid for certain items or in certain conditions."

are there any restrictions on this that it shouldn't be working?

    • What do you mean extra $200 code?

    • If the code is from flip5/fold5 email, then it will only work for those phones and S23 ultra

      • +1

bloody hell you might be right.

happy to swap codes with someone as only need to purchase a S23 standard.

  • Almost there, just waiting for my 10% off Loyalty code from Samsung Via Email. Wonder how long it takes?

    • +1

I emailed them last night (around 10:00 pm?) and got a call back from them about an hour ago where they asked if I wanted the code in my email or over the phone. Not sure if this usual, the auto email reply said it could take between 24 and 48 hours.
      Edit:
I also got the code in my email about 1 minute after the call.

      • Brilliant thanks, I'll keep waiting

        • once you email loyalty, they will arrange to call you, once you get the call they should send the email right away. i got mine 2-3 mins after i hung up. YMMV depending on the agent you get. this was 2 days ago

  • +6

Well I got there in the end! I am one of those people who absolutely complains about the hoops required to jump through to get the discount, but darn it if it wasn't thrilling stacking 4 codes on top of each other and trading in a $1 pair of crappy headphones lol. Managed to get S23 Ultra for $883, process was:

    1. get trade up app on phone
    2. get trade up ID for headphones (select other device, other manufacturer, and Headphones) - required payment of deposit
    3. take trade up ID to samsung website on PC, add S23U to cart, selecting trade up option with existing trade ID - apply the ID
    4. go to cart, add all codes in following order: 10% code from loyalty (required phone call and recieved via email), trade in bonus code (gives extra $200), $100 from samsung chat, $50 from newsletter signup (this $50 didnt actually apply, probably because i was not signed in to my samsung account and the 'forgot my password' reset wouldn't work, but I gave up since the code was posted publicly in the megathread, so had to move quickly lol)

For Phantom Black 256GB, it was $883 and it allegedly ships on the 15th September.

    Best of luck!

Nice work getting the targeted trade in bonus code :)

And great summary of steps required.

    • +1

Extra tip from my wife (I'm still salty that she got the targeted email and not me) - the $50 code will always disappear just before you check out. You just need to go back to cart and reapply all the codes again (in the correct order). It will work the second time.

      • dang, nice pickup ! i thought I would need to log in, so disregarded it

      • +1

You don't need to log in.

Just ensure email address input at check out matches newsletter address.

  • I got mine delivered today..
But how do we send back our trade device?

    • +1

They will send you an email with a QR code to take to auspost with the phone. It arrived later in the day after I received my phone.

      • +1

Do you need to wrap it up and box it correctly?

Also should we be taking photos of the condition of the old phone, the screen, the casing and make sure it turns on. Just incase there is a disput later on about condition / trade in value.

        • Bubble wrap is your friend

        • +1

Did you manage to find out if we need to box the trade-in device?

      • Thanks

      • +2

Will Auspost give you free packaging to send it? The email only says to take the phone to Auspost with the label they sent.

Got my S23 Ultra last night after using an S21. It is a vastly better phone in every single way. I'm really enjoying the cameras which are so good. It's a beefy phone and feels very solid. I have authentication software on my phone which transferred over perfectly. Very easy upgrade. Just now have to work out the easiest way to transfer 120mb DNGs across to the pc.

    • Yeah I am really enjoying the S23, upgrading from a Poco X3 NFC

    • Waiting for mine to dispatch. I'm really keen to try out the zoom.

  • Anyone know if you can change the trade in having received the phone?
Ive got an s21 256gb with a scratched screen that id heard would be worth about $50 as a trade but going through the app there are no questions about screen scratches that i could see and its valued at $295 which I think is probably more than id get elsewhere.

    • +1

Why you want that, you can surely sell that for 300 outside, best thing to do is use the trade with a $1 headphone. I find most of these trade values of way inferior to market valuations.

      • Ill have to check values, i thought $300 was pretty good, they are not minor scratches!

    • I also noticed they didn't specifically ask about scratches. I'm wondering if they overlook scratches since they would be extremely common?

Wouldn't 99% of used phones have at least some light scratches on it?

    • +2

Asurion might not give you the security charge back if it has damage or scratches or they may only partially refund. I spoke to samsung about some small scratches to the body and they said i needed to say it did have damage (the question about bends, cracks, dents in the app). This dropped the trade value to $5. Ignore the damage to the screen protector as that can be removed and the screen does not have any damage. I'm sure the T&C would allow Asurion to re-value after the receive and check the phone. Samsung may have just been playing it safe by telling me to say it had damage but the comments about Asurion also indicate that they look for any reason to not give the security charge back. I sure wouldnt want to send the phone back, find out the trade value is significantly less and also lose the phone. The JB hifi trade in asks for condition and if you choose front glass/LCD damage, it drops the value from $280 to $56 so that's what you should probably expect.

      • +2

As dodgy as Asurion seem to be i don't think they have any wiggle room to devalue a trade on a nonspecified criteria.
Of course they could try it on but id be fairly confident the credit card company would honor a cashback.
Theres a discussion section on the samsung site i stumbled across and there were a couple of instances i saw where samsung interceded on customers behalf to reverse asurions dodgy devaluing tricks

        • Have you got a link to the discussion on the samsung website?
If it is Asurion claiming damage when the phone doesnt have any, then sure, i can see samsung helping but you are sending back a phone with scratches that you said are not minor so i cant see samsung helping with that. Imo, if a bank gives a chargeback, they havent investigated very well.

  • is it worth upgrading S22 Ultra to S23 Ultra ?

    • +3

Don't think so, stay with your current one and wait for s24.

  • So can you guys please confirm for me this. My S23+ arrived today, and the phone I selected to trade in was my S20FE. If I decide I want to keep my FE, I'll get charged the $60 admin fee but nothing more?

    • You will get charged $60 and lose the trade value security fee. E.g. if phone trade in value was a $100 discount, you wont get the $100 security back abd gwt charged $60.

      • Thanks. Think I'll just trade it in tbh.

  • My phone was supposed to be delivered today by Startrack but hasn’t yet. Got message from them this morning. Has anyone faced any similar issue?

  • Just spoke to Samsung chat about trade up app and they said

"By the way, there's no more trade in app for trade in program. That is changed and can only be done on the cart section."

I just installed the trade up app and did the headphone option and got the trade up ID

but it did not work on the trade in option.
You cannot proceed with Trade-in as the Trade-ID is invalid.

How are people doing the headphone option in this deal?

      • that it what I installed

        • i literally just did it. after you input your ID select you are manually going to do it on the website (not instore)and they generate a code for you.

        • After you get the trade ID in the app you should see some further options below that let you choose that you want to proceed to the online store. You then might have to do a few extra steps within the app (for some reason I had to re-enter my address and what not), but afterwards the trade ID from the app should then work on the Samsung website by choosing the existing trade ID option.

  • I have the trade up ID but it does not work in the trade in options when I use it it Says "You cannot proceed with Trade-in as the Trade-ID is invalid"
Is there some sort of delay until it is valid after a new one is created

    • You haven't finished the process. Sometimes it glitches. Refresh app.

      • It looks like you can't use the store option, the online option worked
        Thanks cumova & maxwellish

  • Thank you all, just paid $338 for a S23 128gb using all codes and a $1 head phone trade in.

    • what type of headphone will you send? old shitty cable ones? what option do we select for that?

      • I thought i had an old Bluetooth head phone , but could not find it anymore, i must have throw it out as it was starting to flake.
Anyway i will find a cheap Bluetooth one from Kmart to send it in. I read someone's comment in this thread that i need to be a Bluetooth one, but could not see any specific details on the trade in App.

        • They have not asked any condition questions. I have one but the battery only lasts 10 mins. I am not sure if that would do the trick or not.

          • @Arsi: I'm in the same boat. Do you really think they are going to check? They've lost enough money already, I think.

          • @Arsi: Yes, no brand, no conditions what so ever

        • thanks for that, i could also see other > earbuds or headphones > headphones are obviously the ones with cable, i got a shit ton laying around. i just hate to see them refuse coz there is a small font at the bottom saying subject to acceptance or someshit

also does the purchase have to happen on this trade up app, or am i getting a code from this app and than going on the website to make the purchase? this is not clear in the Op deal posting

          • +1

@Roe Jogan: I elected other earbuds. Plan to send my old wired earbuds back.

            Edit:

            1. Trade-In via the App. Get the Trade ID (security is charged here);
            2. Website: Enter Trade ID (security is charged again, for some reason);
            3. Process the transaction and use all codes in 10% -> $100 -> $50 -> extra $200 sequence. The 10% discount will be based on the original price, instead of the reduced price;
            4. Receive confirmation and wait for postage (your credit card is charged here).
            • @konutoru: thanks, so for the %10 i emailed them they are asking for IMEI which i sent an old s8+ (working) IMEI number. it will not be the phone i send back, is that still ok?
also can i use any other non Samsung IMEI for this %10 step?

              • @Roe Jogan: I requested the loyalty code via email and they didn't ask for my IMEI number. Also, I elected for other earbuds, not a phone.

                • @konutoru: i did the same but they asked for IMEI, still i sent in the IMEI of an s8+ but i have not heard from them since yesterday night

            • @konutoru: How did you get the 'extra $200'?

      • How to trade a headphone? I don't see the headphone option on the website.

        • Use the app

  • Thank you all. Couldn't log in to my Samsung account and had to forego the $50 in the end, but it's alright. The price is too good already.

  • Just realised I have the $500 trade in bonus email but there is a count down that says it expires in 2 hrs. I guess the code won't work after today for everyone? Don't have enough time to get a 10% off code either

    • This thing goes till the 20th of September.

And some of these codes work even after the expiry date

      • +1

Guess will find out tomorrow. Will report back.

        • Looks like the $500 code doesn't work anymore. I get this message "To successfully redeem your voucher, your purchase amount must be higher than the voucher value."

          • @motlking: Whether your code was for Fold5/Flip5?

          • @motlking: Yep, same. Tried codes for both, S23 and Folds and also the 10% off. All give the same error.

Placed the order but it got stuck in "Waiting for Approval". Did anyone else faced the same issue.
