  • I have Amazon prime membership, do I get this already (included in my prime membership? I don't use it as I have Spotify for music

    • Nope.

    • +2

Kind of, you can only play shuffle mode and some other restriction.

    • +1

      Don't get unlimited.

Have never bothered with it, but you could check it out. Can't imagine the UI to be that good etc.

just get Tidal if you don't already have a service like Spotify (if you're into good sq and cd quality+).

If you're household is google then may as well not bother I guess.

      • Thanks for the advice

Amazon music is much better than tidal.

        • Care to elaborate?
          Why?

          • @G-rig: Much better choice. And the playlist recommendation gets better although not as great as spotify.

Mqa on tidal is snake oil as well

            • @Raj09: What is the library and ai like, extensive?
I'm assuming the UI is probably crap.
Is amazon even gapless (usually hardware decided but it's important to know).

Tidal connect is great and I can cast to my RPi via volumio (even from YouTube), and it's very cheap if you know how for Hi-fi family.

Don't start about MQA.. it's fine if you have a compatible DAC but agree cd quality is the minimum quality. They have already phased it out and now have max, and hi-res + FLAC.

              • @G-rig: What does gapless do for audio? I might be missing something. Happy to try tidal again

                • @Raj09: Means you may hear few seconds of nothing between tracks, important if you listen to mixes and electronic music etc.

Just google it plenty of discussions on Reddit, seems it does but maybe not on some devices.

    I like amazon music.

They're the only option to allow drm free mp3 downloads for roughly a dollar.

Its slowly becoming the only way to legally own music anymore, if the band isnt on bandcamp etc.

    • iTunes still allows you to buy and download right?

      • Did iTunes ever allow drm free music?

I wasnt a huge apple guy, not since ipod days.

        • unless im wrong they went drm free a fair while back (i recall several people elsewhere mentioned it)

          • @smurfinaus: Just had a google and ended up on the official Apple forums.

"Not necessarily all songs purchased from iTunes after 2009 are DRM free. Also, songs that involve Apple Music somewhere in the chain of acquisition and/or download to iTunes would be DRM protected. All Apple Music songs are DRM protected and that protection remains even if subsequently downloaded to iTunes. "

Much easier to just sail the seas or buy from Amazon for me.

            • @MasterScythe: Just jump on Napster.

              • @G-rig: Napster isnt bad, but the catalogue is small.

                • @MasterScythe: LimeWire

                  • @G-rig: I have some of their crypto, but they focus more on art than music these days.

                    • @MasterScythe: Just kidding mate, the days of music downloading.. mind you tidal-Gui is good.

Tidal will be greatly improved pretty soon given the implementation of hi-res FLAC, since they are doing away with MQA.

The streamer I use (Voluimio) will be better quality sound :P

About 2 weeks ago TIDAL contacted us providing the technical informations required to implement Hi-Res FLAC in TIDAL Connect. And guess what, we are working on

                      • @G-rig: Yeah MQA sounded so bad if you listened to certain genres.
It didn't know when clipping and corruption were MEANT to be there (speedmetal, harshnoise, Hardstyle\Uptempo).
Distortion or clipping in the track? It keeps trying to 'fix' it.

Ahhh, I missed the pun since you kept mentioning services that have gone legit. :p
If you were trying to make a music download reference, why not something that still works Like eMule, lol.

  • U get this deal every 2 days if u subscribe to lemovo marketing email.

    • subscribe to lemovo marketing email.

      How do I do that?

  • Thanks OP.

I think title should be something like “Amazon Music Unlimited (New Customers): Free 4 Months Family (6 Users, $20.99/M After), Single ($12.99 After) @ Amazon AU”

  • +1

Just tried it on an existing account (i suspect i already had a free trial sometime in past) screens said 4 month free promo.. and ended up only getting 1 month..

  • I signed up for this trial, install Amazon Music app on an Android phone where I also have Amazon app (with prime, under different account). I hardly can play anything. When I search for an artist/album and play an album, it will skip all the songs and I got "Song Not Available", "This song is no longer available" on my screen.

Do I miss something here? Has the fact I have Amazon app that doesn't have Amazon Music Unlimited (just normal Prime) got anything to do with this? I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you.

  • Can i cancel immediately and still have it continue for 4 months?

  • Anyone tried cancelling their existing subs and getting a deal?
