Steps:
1. Initiate a trade-in request and get the value as Officeworks gift cards today (delivered via Prezzee).
2. Pay for an iPhone 15 in store on Friday, use your trade-in gift cards plus ultimate whatever, as many as you want (no limit at Officeworks).
3. Fill the claim form.
4. Get $250 Officeworks gift card.

It only works on Friday because you can only pay for it on Friday in store, when it’s no longer considered ‘preorder’. Gift cards can’t be redeemed online.

Edit: it is only for trading in iPhones 12, 13 and 14. I got $310 for my lovely iPhone 12 mini now plus $250 later. Doubt I could sell it for $560 on the second hand market (maybe in a few years as a vintage tiny phone). Combined with the 15% ultimate gift card deal it’s quite sweet.

Edit 2: if you are really unsure, the 15% off ultimate deal is on until 26th. Monitor this thread and buy the gc only when you have read some confirmed cases here. But you need to do the trade-in request pretty soon because that takes time to process. Cancel the trade-in if this deal is not what we think it is.

Edit 3: my gc arrived a day or so after the trade-in request, it might take some time for yours. It will arrive. Also allow for the possibility of the team being ozbargained.

Edit 21/9/23 11:37: my local OW just called me back and informed me of the stock levels. They don’t have the colour I’m after, so I’ll have to go in and place an order tomorrow using the gift cards.

Edit 22/9/23 11:16: got the phone, submitted the claim and received the receipt for the trade-in bonus. Two things:
1. If you have OnePass but it doesn’t come up automatically after scanning Flybuys, bring up your barcode and scan that too.
2. The Prezzee gc needs to be manually entered into the machine. Find someone who knows how to do it. It can be done.

Final edit:
You can’t place orders on the variant that isn’t available in store. For example, my local only has access to placing orders on the black or blue.
There is a 30 day return policy on tech, OnePass’ one year thing doesn’t apply.

        Ok, Ive found something I want from Officeworks with the $250 card and I am all over this. Also signed up for OnePass trial to get 5x FlyBuys to get $50. Bought my 15% off Ultimate Home cards.

        I am also coming from a 12 mini 128GB. Was going to trade the wife's 13 Pro 256GB with Apple and dunno what I was going to do with the 12 mini. Getting $310+$250 for the 12 mini and selling the 13 Pro to pay off the Ultimate cards is best deal :)

        Also buying more Ultimate cards now to go with the $250 card for the future purchase. Winning!

      Yes but the Webuyback you get money in your account, not a ow gift card. You can pay for the full value of the iphone with the 15% off gift card not just the difference. So if buying an iphone 15 pro for $1849 you get $277 discount plus buyback $1170 = $1447 ($402 paid) . OW deal $1849-$1310 giftcard = $539 (15% off this = you paid $458) So $56 worse off! And you have to use that $250 gift card in OW in the future. This deal sucks

      I don’t think Apple will drop prices. In reality new iPhone’s are primarily for people who have 3+ year old mobiles, yearly mobile upgrades aren’t as much of a thing for most people anymore. iPhone or Android.

        Last time Apple increased prices mid season was with iPhone 6 due to Aussie dollar tanking. I remember rushing to get an iPhone 6 for my wife just before that.

      I got the label today with the gift cards, requested the trade-in on Saturday. They also said by 27/9/23 in the text, so that might be a little blurry there. Common sense is if you don’t have the device due to stock shortage, they wound extend the window.

          It’s conditioned on a ‘purchase’, ie a receipt, not you leaving the store with a device. I’m sure they’ll extend the window for your return if you haven’t physically had the phone by 13/10/23.

    The phone is probably worth $850 to sell privately, and the Gift Card looks like it would be issued to use in a later transaction.

        100% better to sell it privately.

        It’s not hard to sell an iPhone on Scumtree or Facebook Marketplace.

        You may need to deal with one or two idiots, but you’ll get much more than $525

    I am offered max $480 for my iPhone 12 to be trade-in at Apple.
    I have to order my iPhone 15 from Apple because I have $1500 Apple balance bought with 15% discount gift cards earlier this year. That's a saving of $225.

      Trade-In value comes at the time of purchase (edit: actually, you process the trade in and then receive that via gift card today). I'm not sure if you can use that same gift card to reduce the cost of the purchase or if you're then stuck with the trade-in value + $250 on OW gift cards

    I don't see any of these info (eligible purchases) on T&C.

    Wondering what benefit is there for OW to "aggressively" promote iPhone 15 trade in?

    They are not in the mobile courier business, and this is a one time purchase. iPhone 15 will be high in demand leading up to Christmas, also they probably don't even made $250 from sell iPhone. Why are they so "generous"?

      Probably they get reimbursed by apple, comes out of extra marketing budget alllocated for the iphone 15(due to it being a tiny update from the 14)
