Steps:
1. Initiate a trade-in request and get the value as Officeworks gift cards today (delivered via Prezzee).
2. Pay for an iPhone 15 in store on Friday, use your trade-in gift cards plus ultimate whatever, as many as you want (no limit at Officeworks).
3. Fill the claim form.
4. Get $250 Officeworks gift card.

It only works on Friday because you can only pay for it on Friday in store, when it’s no longer considered ‘preorder’. Gift cards can’t be redeemed online.

Edit: it is only for trading in iPhones 12, 13 and 14. I got $310 for my lovely iPhone 12 mini now plus $250 later. Doubt I could sell it for $560 on the second hand market (maybe in a few years as a vintage tiny phone). Combined with the 15% ultimate gift card deal it’s quite sweet.

Edit 2: if you are really unsure, the 15% off ultimate deal is on until 26th. Monitor this thread and buy the gc only when you have read some confirmed cases here. But you need to do the trade-in request pretty soon because that takes time to process. Cancel the trade-in if this deal is not what we think it is.

Edit 3: my gc arrived a day or so after the trade-in request, it might take some time for yours. It will arrive. Also allow for the possibility of the team being ozbargained.

Edit 21/9/23 11:37: my local OW just called me back and informed me of the stock levels. They don’t have the colour I’m after, so I’ll have to go in and place an order tomorrow using the gift cards.

Edit 22/9/23 11:16: got the phone, submitted the claim and received the receipt for the trade-in bonus. Two things:
1. If you have OnePass but it doesn’t come up automatically after scanning Flybuys, bring up your barcode and scan that too.
2. The Prezzee gc needs to be manually entered into the machine. Find someone who knows how to do it. It can be done.

Final edit:
You can’t place orders on the variant that isn’t available in store. For example, my local only has access to placing orders on the black or blue.
There is a 30 day return policy on tech, OnePass’ one year thing doesn’t apply.

    • it is highly unlikely that you will be able to do that. Even the titanium natural color of iPhone 15 Pro is not available for a pre-order possibly due to high demand.

          I am assuming that anything not available for a pre-order (Pro Max and Pro Natural colour) might be hard to get your hands on in-store tomorrow. I think I read someone's comment (may be on another OW post) that they phoned head office who has confirmed that their stores likely won't have enough stock for walk-ins.

          This was addressed here. As long as you order it tomorrow and pay for it, you should get the $250 GC.

    Submitted a trade-in yesterday at 3pm for my iPhone 12 and requested for instant gift card. Completed verification and it kept $385 from my credit card as security but didn't receive the gift card and email instruction on how to return the trade-in phone. Emailed Moorup and they said that the gift card and email would be sent the next day.

        I was just told by the store you can order in-store tomorrow. That would satisfy the conditions of the $250 bonus and allow use of the Ultimate Gift cards. You won't get it tomorrow though but you will get a good deal.

    Hi guys, so a bit of help understanding this. Iphone 14 256gb.

    1. Webuyback - Not an Option as it needs to be new.

    2. Apple Buyback: $1,010 - Can be applied to pre-order
      JB: $1,100 - Can be applied to pre-order
      Officeworks: $1,060 - +250 can't be applied to preorder.

    What am I missing here?

    • The $1060 can be used towards the new phone iff you do it on Friday in store. The $250 would have to go to a piggy bank. If you do not open the $250 in your Prezzee account, you can sell it for at least $200. I’d buy it off you for $200 for sure lol

      - Can't pre-ordered online as it will only accept 1 single payment
      - I just visited an Officeworks branch an hour ago only to be told pre-order is only available online. I said I couldn't as it won't allow me to use 3 x GCs the guy told me to call the Officeworks number
      - I called the Officeworks number and the lady advised me that pre-orders are only available online

      Our only chance to get the bonus $250 trade-in GC is to go in store tomorrow and use the Ultimate GCs or pre-order today if you have some loose change of $1,497+

          I was just told by the store you can order in-store tomorrow. That would satisfy the conditions of the $250 bonus and allow use of the Ultimate Gift cards. You won't get it tomorrow though but you will get a good deal.

    I have read comments on the other thread and seen that head office has confirmed that there will be no stock for walk ins/ no stock online for preorder for iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max/ poor customer service from Moorup from previous trade-ins regarding gift cards. So I’ve decided to cancel my trade-in

    I called up Moorup to check my trade-in request last night @ 2200 since I have not received any confirmation/ not received “instant” gift card and my card had funds held.

    The person said that there was an error with my order and it did not process - so I’d advise anyone who has not received their gift card or has changed their mind after more information to give them a call and enquire or cancel the trade-in.

      Shop around and find out. Try Apple, jb hifi, webuyback and mobile monster, to name a few common ones.

      • I visited Apple store last week, if I remember correctly they offer me $430, the only issue with mine is battery is at 80%, no sure if I can fetch $385+250 = $635 in private market or take up this deal.

          It also depends on if you have any use for the $250 gc later, so factor that in. Personally I think this a very good deal for 12 in general, because of battery health, warranty and product life cycle (if you bought at launch).

            • @vash12: The gc is out in November, that’s a bit of a long window to return a phone. But who knows how OnePass is complicating all of this. You can give it a go if it feels right to you, especially if you stored it right.

              Personally, I don’t agree with the act. I like OW, prefer to feed the goose over killing it. Play the long game 😅

            • @Jugg.Judy: They only do anything under warranty if it’s 79% last time I spoke to them. Off the books, someone told me Apple covers battery for 3 years, but that was a very long time ago, not sure if it’s still the case. You just need to kill your battery a tiny bit more and practice your social engineering skills 🙃

                  @Jugg.Judy: 3 year was probably ACL, I’ve never used apple care. They must have managed to get around it somehow, or things changed. I mean, reasonable life expectancy of a phone (battery), that is really what you are disputing here with them. Maybe ACCC can help if you are up for a bit of a discussion with them. I think you might have better luck talking to someone in store tho. I had someone servicing my 5-year old MacBook without pulling ACL or anything at one stage, just asked nicely.

  • Anyone recieve their "instant" gift card yet? Still waiting for mine since yesterday afternoon. Cant get in contact with Moorup either. Tried calling OW customer service. They pretty much handballed the situation and saying nothing they can do. Very poor experience so far with OW.

    IMO avoid at all costs, got on this as soon as the preorders opened on Friday and did not receive my GC and return instructions until yesterday (5 days late). Missed out on the first round of OW preorders with variant wanted while waiting and subsequently missed the second release of preorders earlier this week again, emailed and called them multiple times over the week and they only responded via email on Saturday initially advising that they couldn't find my order even though they've had the credit hold since Friday.

    Been trying to get my order cancelled from onwards Saturday as I have no need for the GCs anymore nor do I want to send my phone in before I get a replacement, email instructions from yesterday still state 27th Sept deadline for returns and not going to risk going against it given how badly they communicate. Still unable to get hold of anyone today - email or phone or otherwise.

    Will probably get a chargeback on CC if they continue to ignore, haven't touched any of the GCs sent. I'm probably going to stick to Apple's trade-in from now on and cop the lower value or just sell it on marketplace, not worth the hassle for the promotion unless you can tolerate being ignored when things go wrong.

    Good luck to anyone else brave enough though.

        I did, but my 13PM is worth $1055 with Apple and JB is only offering $975. So unless JB does a promotion I'm most likely going to go with Apple. Only tried this deal because of the $250 on top of the $1020 offered, didn't expect "instant" to be 5 days late.

        Might try to reserve tomorrow at 6am, and just do a in-store trade in with Apple for purchase credit on the spot for whenever the reservation is. Should be the same value as online without having to send it back etc.

      You would not have been able to use the gc if you were going for the preorder anyway, because it can’t be used online.

      I understand you are upset, but it’s still your responsibility to figure out how the pieces fit together before actioning on it. In this case, all I did was calling my local OW and asked about how to do the trade-in. Granted, it’s not very straightforward, that’s why there are steps and lots of edits.

      These t&cs are publicly available and legally binding, in case you missed that. OW has also always honoured whatever deals, not to mention the ACL is practically ozb 101.

      It reads like you just wanted it done yesteryear, when in reality this is a promotion running by a small team and probably never imagined being ozbargained. Please treat people like they are real, living beings who are only capable of doing so much in the time given. It’s taken most of my day yesterday just to respond to this thread, and I don’t work for either OW or ozb. Imagine the amount of inquiries at moor up.

I have tried contacting them this whole day on call and email both to atleast get a confirmation of the trade in. How can they not get time to answer a call for anyone the whole day. This is a bad customer service.

          I don’t know how they work, but if you know how ddos works, imagine that but with phone calls and emails, and all of it hitting a real person. You are quite right on the bad customer service part, at least the availability is nonexistent. Given that they asked for IDs, I’d guess there’s a fair bit of manual work involved in this whole thing.

          Someone did mention in the comment you can opt to receive direct deposit as opposed to gcs during the trade in. That might have been the overlooked solution.

        I'm not upset at anyone, nor have I even confronted them of anything or abused staff that you're alluding to (not that I have been given any chance anyway lol). It's just a phone at the end of the day, I've just been trying to follow up with the cancellation of my order from as far back as Saturday to their email and number as advertised since the deal was not what it seemed to be IMO. I agree I should've read the T&Cs more carefully and I understand it's my fault for not knowing OW GCs don't work online, but as this is the first time I've ever used OW GCs and preorder system and I thought they would work online as 99% of retailers these days do (JB, Harvey, Apple etc). Lessons learnt for next time I suppose.

        I don't understand this take, they're partnered with one of the biggest retailers in Australia so the expectation is there so they can provide what they advertised especially if they know there's going to be new phones announced and are running this promotion. If they can't do it then it's their issue (and OWs) and not the consumers, people shouldn't have to be stuck here with with credit holds not receiving their GCs by the end of today when the only day where the stars line up is tomorrow for the promotion. It is a complete luck of the draw to acquire the deal due to the short-staffing at this point and I'm willing to bet most people in this thread won't receive their GCs on time to satisfy the promotion requirements. Even though again, they advertise instant GCs (delays + bad communication is why I neg'd for).

        Which is more or less the reason I have an issue with this promotion, the amount of hoops required to jump through and not to mention the requirement to order the phones in person this Friday in order to use the GCs in the first place and still get the deal. But on top of that, not providing the instructions and GCs as advertised. I know that many will still see this as a good deal and you seem content as well, but I'm just voicing experience with how they're handling this situation. To each their own, but I certainly won't be supporting this.

        Don't take the neg personally OP, you've done excellently with this post on an otherwise great deal, but Moorup has fumbled it hard. Nothing from my experience should diminish yours OP, if you are happy with how they're treating you then more power to you. I'm just stating how I've been treated since all I've done is email and tried call to check up on the GCs as promised, and to cancel the trade in since I was after preorders for tomorrow or Monday. Now knowing the terms I don't have an issue with using the GCs in person if the whole process was clearer, but the whole experience so far has just left a bad taste and would rather take my money elsewhere.

    • Promotion ends tomorrow. Good luck getting the trade in through by that time

    • If you are happy to pay for the phone outright without using the gc, you can give it a go but probably use two different identities. You are unlikely to be able to receive the gc in time to redeem it tomorrow, but as soon as the authorisation is placed on your cc, the contract of sale should be binding, meaning you will definitely get the gc, but patient is very much required, judging by the comments of late.

    main problem here is its NOT a trade-in. Your credit comes after the new iPhone 15 is fully paid - so you're stuck with officeworks vouchers for the NEXT purchase.

    I thought you were all waiting for physical cards or something, not “instant” gift cards.

  • I might be wrong, but I highly doubt they would be able to honour what they promised, starting from the “instant” gift card.

    As a result, you end up being forced to buy OW gift cards with no discount at all or to pay the full amount upfront and hold the trade-in amount + $250 OW cards for a long time.

    • OW would always be partially responsible since it’s a partnership between the two for this deal. Moorup can’t be afk for good because ultimately OW is holding a contract. And if people are providing feedback to OW about the lack of support on Moorup end, it’s only a matter of time for OW to act on it. They are still bound by the ACL, and ozb class action is no joke. No one is that dumb.

      As far as the delays go, my guess is their automation is not up to the task and they are doing it manually.

    Am I missing something? I still don’t feel like OW trade in is a good deal. I have an iphone 12 pro max 512gb and the trade in value at OW is only $670 + $250 vouchers. However some other trade in providers valuate it for $870 cash to bank and It allows me to buy more ultimate gift cards (about $1020 in values at 15% off). May be its just my case. Btw, don’t forget to signup one pass trial and collect about $50 worths of Flybuys points if buying at officeworks. :)

    Just been into my local store. Because there is no stock in the warehouse they are unable to order through their in-store system.

    Suggested calling customer service to see if you can order and use gift cards over the phone.
