0% Variable FVF on 3 New Listings (Existing Sellers until 31/10, $25 Cap) or 5 New Listings (New/Return Seller) @ eBay Australia

2930

It's back! eBay seller fee promos for October 2023 for existing sellers, or until December for new or reactivated sellers.

There's a chance new or reactivated sellers can double up and take advantage of both promotions if they activate both at the same time, adding up to 8x $0 FVF listings.

No eBay Plus required it seems.

Enjoy :)

    • No. The advertising IS correct ——-> It IS 0% fees ….. BUT there is a cap of $25 - which it clearly states in the Ts &Cs.

"List your items by 31 Oct and pay 0% fees on 3 sales." ——-> doesn't mean it is 0% no matter what the selling price of your item is ….. why would you assume that?

On other stuff, it is also similar - Entertainment Book/App is like that too.

It says 25% discount on xyz restaurant —-> BUT, up to a cap of $20 or $25 discount.

      • +4

Because prior to Sep 2023, there was no such BS from feeBay on that annoying cap. Also, in the terms and conditions, there is no mentioning of the cap for Oct 2023 offer. However, once you accepted it, that cap condition then comes up.

It's one thing to have that cap, it is another to show users the one without cap, with the terms and conditions showing no cap, but once you accepted it, a new condition pops up.

  • +8

    In summary:

    • Promo page shows 0% off 3 sales, and no mention of $25 cap: https://www.ebay.com.au/sellercentre/promo/1011522/

    • T&Cs page shows it is 0% off 3 sales UP TO a cap of $25: https://pages.ebay.com.au/q34sellplus3fvf/

    • Promo still not showing up in Seller Dashboard

    • Confirmed by multiple users who have listed and made sales in October that the promo is still being applied (despite not showing in Seller Dashboard) BUT only up to a cap of $25. Sellers who have sold items valued at over $180 is getting charged fees (minus $25)

    • I see a different issue below (I have a listing from September, should I end and re-list).

      Promo Page

Eligible Sellers will receive 0% variable fees (a component of eBay Final Value Fees) on up to a maximum of 3 Eligible Items that are newly listed between the Registration Date and the end of the Promotion Period (“Promotion”).

List in October, Sold in November = Discount

      T&Cs Page

The Promotion entitles Eligible Sellers, who have activated this promotion in accordance with these terms, to a discount of up to $25 (incl. GST) on variable fees (which is a component of Final Value Fees as defined on eBay.com.au) on the sale of 3 Eligible Listings sold during the Promotion Period.

List in October, Sold in November = No Discount

  • is the 5 * 0% off variable fees (for new sellers) fully 0% or is it still capped at 25 im confused

    • Looks like there's no cap.

But the key eligibility criteria with this one is —-> have not sold any items on eBay in the last 12 months.

So whilst it let's you "ACCEPT" it, it will be tough to argue to get the FVF refunded later if you get charged for it, if you have sold items in the last 12 months.

      • Alr makes sense its a new account which i only use for buying so should work, thanks

        • It's only for "pre-loved fashion"

Accept this offer and you’ll pay 0% variable fees on up to 5 pre-loved fashion sales.

          • @[Deactivated]: i asked ebay support and they said it would work for new items, are they wrong

            • @gecokcs: Never trust ebay support. They are clueless and will tell you only what they think you want to hear.

              • @[Deactivated]: damn alr thanks, i reckon i will sell similar again with the 25$ deal activated as well, so i at least get that. Thanks for your help tho

  • +4

Seems like eBay still doesn't have their act together - even though the promotion page says I've already accepted the "$25 off" promotion it's still not showing on my seller dashboard.

  • +1

Just activated the 5 listings with 0% FVF on a dormant eBay account and it shows up under the seller overview.

However, there is one line that worries me

Sell it: Accept this offer and you’ll pay 0% variable fees on up to 5 pre-loved fashion sales.

its interesting they don't disclose this anywhere except for that one line, all the other T&C's including excluded categories still resemble previous 0% promotions earlier in the year.

I'll check with eBay CS before selling, but keen to get other peoples thoughts if this is legit or a typo. I'm not game enough to risk it given eBay's reputation on taking forever to reclaim FVF's.

    • answered my own Q from eBay customer service, incase anyone else needs clarification

"I have checked the terms and conditions and here in this case you can list any fashion item with item condition as pre-loved and item should be completely newly listed by creating a completely new blank draft because relisted or sell similar items will not be counted under promotion."

      • i asked ebay support and they said it would work for new items, are they wrong

        • +1

no idea, I'm leaning towards sticking to what's on the fine print RE pre-loved fashion.

    • Did the same on a dormant account but have no mention of the fashion restriction.
Just : 'Eligible Sellers will receive 0% variable fees on up to a maximum of 5 Eligible Items that are newly listed and sold between the Registration Date and the end of the Promotion Period '

eBay really is turning into a hot mess of contradictions

    • Unfortunately I got slugged on fees after accepting the 5 x 0% offer so it's definitely fashion related items only. I'm gonna try my best to fight the fee but doubt they'll credit me.

      • if they dont, just cancel the transaction. o tell them you will cancel. They don't want bad reputation of people cancelling on sales because of their sneaky conditions.

        • if i have chat logs of an ebay support member telling me that my item is elligible under the 5 x 0% fees do u reckon i will have a case if i have to fight the fee?

          • @gecokcs: i think so. I asked about the 3x 0% and how it wasnt showing up under my promotions. They said i should list it and should be ok. So if i get charged ill go on the chat and then if they dont commit to what they said, ill just cancel.

            • @Bruno28: probs a good idea yeah

              • @gecokcs: they charged me fees even though it was initially not stating fee limit to $25 on their original promotion page.
Spoke to 1 CS, but then it got disconnected. Then spoke to two more that ended the conversation after I said I was talking to someone about this promotion error. It was quite rude form the two who ended the chat after saying they would investigate it and not allowing me to enquire more.

                • @Bruno28: Pretty average mate, dodgy of them.

                  • @G-rig: though i was persistent and with screen shot, i got my FF of $204 back :)
But this is only because i had proof of their mistake. I leant to screen shot things for times like these and its saved me.

                    • @Bruno28: Good ieda, i screen shot that notification too once you've accepted the promo.
Still haven't listed anything though, 25$ cap doesn't cover anything over about $160 but is a discount at least. Maybe a few cheaper items is the go.

                      • @G-rig: Well, the fees are 12.2% plus $0.30. So would seem like up to $200 sales should cover it. But also paying a bit more for something you want to sell is ok.
But i sold a $1700 item, so the fees were high. When it could have gone into my pocket (which luckily it did).

                        • +1

@Bruno28: ok good to know. Glad you chased that up!

      • UPDATE - According to the ebay chat agent, the reason fees applied was because I used the relist option on my listing and not a new listing, but has assured me that it will apply for new listings. He actually didn't mention anything about pre-loved fashion items so looks like back to the drawing board…

        • alr thanks for your help

        • Relist never work for this promo. Have to use sell similar instead

  • +1

If the promo is not showing up in the Selling section of my eBay account, does that mean I do not have any discount if sold anything now?

    • +1

probably not - same boat here, accepted offer and doesn't show up in my seller promos.

    • +1

It's showing in my Seller Hub Overview as of this morning. Check yours too.

  • I thought it's ebay plus exclusive offer, isn't it? But I just found that I got the email on my non ebay plus account too, so I accepted and it does appear on my overview of that non plus account. Still not appearing on my ebay plus account overview that I (re) accepted. Seems like a glitch

    • Same, accepted the offer but the promo isn't showing in my Plus account

  • +1

Can I get ebay plus after I sold an item with the $0 fees (since that doesnt need ebay plus). And then Use that ebay plus immediately to get 50% off shipping even if I sold the actual item before I got ebay plus?

  • +2

    lol what a mess

  • I wonder how renewing would work with the 5 free offer?
It has a promotional period of: 'Sunday 1 October 2023 to 23:59 (AEST) on Sunday 31 December 2023' but says in the T&C:
Eligible Items will only receive the discounted variable fee until the listing renews, whether by auto-renewal or because the listing is Good ‘Till Cancelled (“GTC”). After this, standard fees will apply.'
So I am assuming it is only available for 1 x 30 day period per listing, until 31st of December.
Hopefully 'sell similar' works with this.

    • +1

Renew / auto-renewal does not work (you pay full FVF). Sell similar means you technical sell a different item so that could still take the 3 or 5 free offer.

  • +1

The Up to $25 off Variable Fees on Eligible Listings deal is now appearing in my Seller Hub Overview page, finally.

    • Is this $25 for all 3 sales or each? I got an email saying 0% selling fee with fine print of up to $25 each, but in the selling hub cannot tell whether $25 is for 3 or each.

      • +1

        Each. Same as last month.

  • +2

Just made a sale, I can confirm that 'sell similar' still works.

Not sure when but it has also popped up under promos now.

  • To add further confusion, I received email "Sell pre-loved fashion & handbags for 0% variable fees" which says that my next 3 sales from new listing pays 0% variable fees (up to $25) AND also FREE postage label from Aust Post or Sendle for each of those 3 sales.
When I look at my Seller Dashboard, is shows the stock standard "Up to $25 off Variable Fees on Eligible Listings

Max 3 sales. Items must be listed before 31 October. New listings only. *Fixed fee, other fees & T&Cs apply. Learn more" which I see in previous months.

When I accept the offer on this OZB posting activation link, it takes me to the same offer….

I am so confused, don't know if my offer is for preloved only or also applicable on new items.

  • How do I see if it's applied to my sale item? I listed items and in the seller hub it doesn't show anything under "promotions" on each item.

    • +1

They can't. As it'd be used up to whatever sold first. You can list 10 items during the promo, the discount will apply on the first 3 sold (FIFO). Bad luck if your 3rd and 4th happened at almost the same time but the 4th happened to be way more expensive item (yeah, happened to me once, as I usually list more and cancel some later :()

      • I have the 5x 0% Variable deal as well as the $25 dollar 3x deal. So I'm assuming it will use up the first promo first, then the second promo once I've sold 3 items.

Thought it would show on the item listed that it has the promotion attached but makes sense if you list like 10 things, only once it's sold will it apply.

        • +2

          Try go to this page:

          https://www.ebay.com.au/mys/overview?MyEbay&gbh=1&CurrentPag…

You are seeing both deals being shown? As for which one will be used first, in the past, it is based on the order of the offers you accepted. However, you need to wait for the item being sold to find out. Assuming you can see the offers you accepted on that page, once an item is sold, it will deduct from one of those 2 offers.

  • +4

Found a new variable fees up to $25 off link today for Plus Members, registration link here >> https://www.rsvp.ebay.com.au/rsvp/signup/1011658/o8Z2p5t1KhA

Seems to be on top of the one in the deal here.

    • Same thing i think..

You've already accepted the offer "Plus offer: Up to $25 off Variable Fees on Eligible Listings"

  • Dang! The Seller page said I had 3 remaining "$25 off variable fees", and right through the sales process I had the impression I was paying no fees..
I got a pleasant surprise when the game me a first postage label for free, but I've just been paid and they took a 12.2% final value fee. I still have 3 remaining "$25 off variable fees". ????

    • +1

Did you make sure you created a new listing for the item, and didn't just renew the listing? You have to press "sell similar" and do the listing again for it to qualify under the new promo

      • Yeah it was brand new. I haven't used ebay in years. I may not have correctly followed all the instructions though. Although it says 3 sales remaining, when I click on the link it still asks me to accept the offer. I've none that several times, but not sure that it's doing anything.

  • Is there a 3 x item offer for ebay plus and a 3 x item offer for regular ebay users (total 6 x items)?

Or just one 3 x item offer? The comments about different offers here are confusing.

    • +1

Total 6 items if you're an eBay plus member and you activate both offers

      • Ah thanks for confirming. I have sold 2 from the ebay plus offer but not activated the other offer. I will activate it at the end of the month and 'sell similar' my listings.

        • +1

Yep nice work! Sell similar all of your listings on 31 October and then hopefully you can sell them within 30 days to make most of both promos :)

        • It doesn't matter much when you activate, as you need to list it by the end of the month anyway. Better activate them all and list a few more, it'd use up the 6 quota for anything sold first

          • @hanofee: Yeah true…I'm just wary of having overlapping offers in eBay. Hoping to sell the third item on the ebay plus offer before activating the other one

            • +3

@myfeetarehappy: fair enough, it worked fine though, I listed most of my items after activating the 2nd offer, and used all 6 without problem

  • As the eBay app is a bit clunky, I purchased a sendle label when I wanted an auspost label and it shaved off a 50% postage label from the 3 labels. I have used 2 labels so far so the incorrect purchase is counted as the final label. I have had bad experiences with sendle so refuse to use them and prefer auspost. I contacted eBay customer support chat and this guy who seems to pop up in the chat both times now refuses to help me out with issuing a new 50 percent off label or crediting the difference to my account for purchasing a full price label. As an eBay member for 18 years and an eBay plus member for about 3 years now, the customer service is pretty poor. I haven't used the sendle label that was purchased accidentally as I used an auspost one instead. I understand that they are within their rights but man, I've never dealt with customer service so hard arsed before. I have heard eBay is difficult. I will call tomorrow and see if speaking in person will get them to issue a new label. Amazon bends over backwards for people by comparison

    • +1

eBay is very difficukt now. They’re refusing many things. Their “one time exemption” policy only allows for 1 use per year.

    • Update: I see my comment is neg voted. I'd love for the person who neg voted to chime in and tell me why they don't agree with my sentiments? I said eBay are within their rights. The app is a POS and gives me grief constantly which led to the current scenario. If you want to express why you don't agree, I am all ears.

      • -1

u can cancel sendle but won't get 50% postage returned, that's ebay rule.
save time and pay attention next time. u will make self angry if talking to ebay support - not worth.
BTW, if it's sendle-courier please, give a try not so bad.

        • +1

As someone who tried Sendle for several years, I can say it's bad. Was good the first 2 years they started but not anymore. Some areas, Couriers Please are good, some are bad (hit and miss). Examples:

          • Couriers don't pick up on the set day, sometimes two days in a row, when asked why they said they don't have time, only pick up if it's convenient when they have deliveries nearby.
          • Sendle reduced their drop off hubs, e.g. BP stations are no longer on the list (longer open hours and there's always one within short driving distance)
          • Lost a couple of items, cannot select insurance amount for Sendle on eBay so your coverage is lowly limited.
          • Couriers don't follow "Signature on Delivery" instruction, when asked CS why, they said couriers have discretion to do as they feel like.
          • @Buy2Much: ' Couriers don't follow "Signature on Delivery" instruction, when asked CS why, they said couriers have discretion to do as they feel like'
… that last point is a worry, if correct

            • +1

@King Tightarse: Ok Sendle CS exact words were "couriers have discretion to do it as they feel like' but to me that what it felt like ;-)

A buyer raised a "did not receive item" eBay case against me because the courier left the parcel at the front door despite my "signature" instruction!

              • @Buy2Much: Surely you got covered for that? If it's marked as delivered surely eBay covers you.

  • +2

Anyone know if this promotion will be available for November?

  • +1

My offer has appeared and disappeared twice today - currently not showing up.
    eBay acting weird

    • +2

      Same

    • my promo was removed from my account and made me pay for fees of items i newly listed with it…got scammed by ebay lol

      • Was that today after is seems to have disappeared?

        • nope a week ago.

      • Mine isn't showing in the dashboard either, but I sold something today and the promo worked fine.

        • +1

Right me too but I am wondering- I would like to relist tonight and get the full 30 days into November for my remaining slots but now I can't tell if the promo will pick them up.

        • Same here, despite disappeared

  • Where November promo at 👀

    • -2

$0 off final value fees on 3 new listings

  • No more half price shipping ?

  • Anybody know of any similiar eBay deals with 0% Variable fees for November, great if there was no $25 cap for November 🤔

  • +2

The Plus offer I got on the app this morning was $0 off one new listing. Pretty lame, but at least no cap.

  • +3

October promo disappeared for me too but sold an item today and it applied fine

    • +2

Strangely my other account did get charged full fees today for a late November listing that was under the second lot of 3 ($25) frees. My primary account did not get charged yesterday when I sold something
Now I am unsure whether to cancel my listings

      • …and just got off a long and pointless CS session trying unsuccessfully to chase it.

      • You didn't list it on the last day of the month did you? I was going to list some items on the 31st but I noticed that the deal had already disappeared from my ebay so I decided not to list them.

        • No they were running since early in the month - happened twice BTW so I killed off all my listings and redid them yesterday

  • With the 5 free FVFs, I think you (maybe) get 30 days from the first listing (before 31/12) because mine have all disappeared now, 30 days later

    • that's true . but ebay credit the fees back manually .
