Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 512GB (Online Exclusive Colours Only) + 2x 64GB MicroSD Cards $990.94 (+ $5 Trade-in) Del'd @ Samsung App

3757

The price in title is after all stacking discounts have been applied, using a trade-in device valued at $5.

I was not able to complete checkout because Asurion (the trade-in provider) is broken for me but I expect it should work for others.

To get this price:

  1. Install the Samsung Shop app to take advantage of the 10% discount for your first in-app order. Use the app for the remaining steps.
  2. Add the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 512GB to your cart. You must choose from the online exclusive colours only.
  3. Navigate to Computing & Display > Memory & Storage > Memory Card > EVO Plus microSD Card. Add 2 of the 64GB to your cart.
This should now have activated the additional 20% off advertised here: https://www.samsung.com/au/youmake/
If it hasn't taken effect, try forcing your cart to update by incrementing the quantity of SD cards, then decrementing.
  4. Add a trade in device to take advantage of the $600 trade-in bonus. You can use the TradeUp app to generate a $1 code for generic headphones (Or so I've heard. Asurion doesn't work for me. I added a $5 Huawei Mate 20 for testing.)
For reference, my total at this point is $1,382.
  5. Apply your 10% loyalty code.
  6. Apply your $100 loyalty code.
  7. Apply your $50 newsletter code.

I featured this particular device because it is eligible for the trifecta of bonus trade-in, stacking 10% discounts, and 20% off with the https://www.samsung.com/au/youmake/ bundle. For example, the 256GB model does not work, but the 1TB does. It may also apply to the S23 Ultra and Flip5. If it's not working, try testing combinations of other low-value products advertised in the above link instead of the SD cards.

Mod note: 1. Samsung EVO Plus microSD Card 64GB sold out. The deal as structured is expired. 2. Multiple user comments about the broken Asurion Trade-in system unable to process transactions.

  • So are people not sending in their trades?

    • And what would happen if you don't send the trade in?

Previously there was no charge from Asurion right? If that's still the case would it be better to 'trade' for something of highest value?

      • If you don't send the item you don't get the trade in discount.

        • +1

          You're obviously new to this…

      • If you don't return the item, you are charged the value of the trade-in item (of course) plus up to $60 fee (some report only $30) and, as many of us have now learned the hard way, you may be blacklisted and unable to capitalise on similar deals in future.

Due to the way the discounts apply, the best price is achieved by using the lowest value trade-in device.

i don't have a 10% loyalty code is getting it through email the only way, i have the $100 already from the live chat, also need help answering what to do when trading your item in, do you really have to send it, or what about the generic $1 headphones which ones would i send for those

  • Trade in app errors in the screen after enter IMEI for me

  • +1

Can anyone confirm they have received 10% loyalty code via email, and how long is the wait time? :)

  • +8

Welcome to Samsung. Your current wait time is 50 mins 20 secs and there are 172 OZBARGAINERS asking for the that fcking $100 code again and again ahead of you. We will connect you shortly.

    • the lesson is to keep codes handy and ready (tho the loyalty ones have 30d validity only)

reason #1 queues when a deal is found
reason #2 sometimes legacy codes work, when new batches dont (eg newsletter only being tied to new accounts)

    • lol

    • Samsung: We will only be giving the code to the first 172 ozbargainers. Thankyou for waiting and we offer our sincerest apologies. We do encourage you to buy at our RRP which is very competitive with the likes of Apple.

    • and now
Welcome to Samsung. Your current wait time is 41 mins 30 secs and there are 38 OZBARGAINERS (s) ahead of you. We will connect you shortly.

      • Good luck, I was at #11 and when i checked later (checking every min) they insta closed the chat.

Tried whatsapp chat optiom, got a "please enter valid input error" until the chat agent closed the chat for no response.

    It was cheaper last month

    • 😂… Where?

  • How do you get past the Asurion security deposit/payment screen?

  • I can't even pay for it. Getting authentication failed. Think its related to the trade in portion

  • +4

Is anyome else getting "unable to process your payment" error after entering CC details?

    • yep

    • Yep

    • yep

    • YUUUUP

    • i don't understand how its this difficult.

Apart from the iPhone 15 being a Nintendo switch killer and Nintendo switch 2 killer, the best next thing is the Asus Rog emulator killer.

    • What? Wrong post?

      • -8

It's never the wrong post, just the right moment to understand common sense, flippen Congo.

        • -1

elaborate more please? slow morning brain for me

          • -3

@CyberMurning: Well I can't stop you to buy that Samsung device, but all I can say if you want the king of all phones then the iPhone that I hate is the god phone of all phones clocked at 3.7ghz and a GPU that's as powerful as a PS4, but with its thermal limitations it's a phone and with developers scared to dip into this environment it's a brick locked behind a ecosystem(however I applaud apple for building a beast rather a silly flip phone) because the camera on the iPhone is state of the art in the movie industry and the go to device for the movie industry for facial animation.

Next we have the Asus Rog the next tier below the iPhone 14 pro not as powerful but a emulation beast, with different tiers of Asus rogs that will net you a bargain.

And then we have the Lenovo legion another phone cheaper then this.

However you look at it, impulse buying will not satisfy your quench.

            • @LoserScott: hmm but i read lots of bad comment about asus rog? like the sdcard damage, also asus lying about the specs?
well iphone maybe powerful but its closed system no one can unlock the full potential unless it is official from apple so forget about emulation i guess

              • -1

@CyberMurning: Asus pc, and Asus phone are completely different divisions,

Don't forget Lenovo legion phones, or the red magic phones.

If your really serious about buying the Samsung fold, then maybe xiomai fold version will set you on the right path, as their mui os is slightly better then Samsungs ui bloatware.

I have nothing against Samsung phones, just don't like Samsung families tyrant dominance in South Korea, you go to South Korea and all you'll see is Samsung.

                • @LoserScott: nope i was talking about aus rog the handheld one
so many bad reviews there. the product itself, and how the company manage their services for the product - the rog. not phone not laptop

            • @LoserScott: Foldable phone are great, especially at $1K.
I don't need a $2K iPhone and I don't need an emulation beast on a small screen. I have another device for that.

        • -1

          Please explain !

  • @HarryBolt68 can you explain how do i get the $5 value to trade in. I mean generic device

    • You don't. The only purpose for the trade in is to get the free $600 trade in bonus. You actually don't trade in whatever it is you're trading in but you keep the trade in bonus.

  • Install the Samsung Shop app

    doesnt install on BlueStacks :(

  • Lol i had I went from #46 to #11 on chat, then it got closed.

  • Struggling to get the trade-in app working. Any workarounds?

    • nope just pray

    • yea, not sure if anyone was able to successfully order with a trade in

      • Yes. I've placed an order successfully.
        512GB Fold.
        $1 Headphones.

        • when did Asurion work for you? Was it this morning, or earlier?

          • +1

@b0b0: This morning. About an hour or so after this deal was posted.

        • Did you use trade in using Asurion?

          • @EnALup: Yes. Used my code for $1 headphones.

  • i dont need this…. but man its tempting!!

  • +2

I get S23 Ultra 512gb for $862.90 with all the codes and trade in. Tempting!

    • yeah and 1tb for around $987, but need the trade in app to work for payment

    • Did you get the 10% loyalty voucher to work? Keeps saying purchase amount must be higher than voucher amount for me.

      • Looks like Samsung has updated it on their end and I can't get this price anymore :(

    • Do you have screenshot at checkout or something? Want to try and claim cc.

  • I think Samsung just removed the glitch? I don't seem to be able to add the memory cards to the cart anymore.

    • They are out of stock. Just add one $30 card.

  • I dont think the bonus trade in credit is $600. I only see additional $400 applied on top of trade up value.

  • +3

Trade-up app error after entering my bank card details. Samsung really likes wasting customers time.

    • Same here. Changed different cards, same result.

  • +5

OP is like "I guide others to a treasure I cannot possess"

    • More like Samsung said no more treasure for you.

    • I wasted more time than I care to admit trying to make it work yesterday. Then thought f it, I'll take it as a sign from above that I'm meant to stick it out with the Fold3 a little longer and stop spending so damn much.

  • How do I get the $100 voucher through chat? webside chat or whatsapp chat?

  • "Authentication failed" error while entering card details for trade-in.

  • This just proves these devices dropped in prices faster than bushfire spreading in summer

    • or just proves the idiot samsung developers they should just enforce one code at a time should not be difficult coding i guess

  • After 12 years of being a loyal Samsung customer, a recent warranty on my Fold 4 which died (@ 12 months) and could not be repaired has left me with the worst customer service ever.
Be aware with Samsung. They will replace your phone with a refurbished unit not new. They also don't have any replacements available either! Been over three weeks with nothing.
    Absolute joke!

  • 64gb card is out of stock but the 128gb works still.

I got through to grabbing a flip5 for about $600 with my S20+ trade in, but I get an authentication error on the tradeup app with no other information. Can't proceed!

    • the only way to go through it is if you select something like Samsung J5 to trade in and then NOT send the device (so you get like a charge back of 30-60$?). the trade in app isnt working so options like $1 earbuds are out of the question

      • I have an old Samsung to trade in but whether I do it for a $ with a cracked screen or not, it won't process my card details. Looks like a lot of people have the same issue.

        • yeah all those options are only selectable in the trade in app.

the J5 method works, but will incur at $60 fee unless you have the phone to send in. also "other applicable charges", the bargain becomes less and less ideal.

          • @kehuehue: Any more info? It asks for an IMEI so I don't know how adding a J5 is any different to just putting in my other phone

            • @OpenHand: No, with the J5 route, you dont need to use the trade in app, but apply trade in from the checkout screen.

              • @kehuehue: Ah, it was doing that anyway with my S20. Tried J5 via the checkout and it went through the whole process anyway. May be because it's on the app, not the website.

                • @OpenHand: How did you by pass the IMEI mandatory field which is impossible to pass by trying both app and website? Thanks

                  • @HappyBargainer: You can't bypass it, I had to enter my S20+'s IMEI.

That said, the trade in was broken anyway and Asurion can't authenticate payments for some reason.

                    • @OpenHand: Oh I see. Can you press the continuous on the check out as you aren't going to send the phone back?

              • +1

@kehuehue: I tried Samsung shopping app and website, even by choosing J5 in the check out trade in, the IMEI filed is marked mandatory before pressing continue. How did you bypass this IMEI field which seems impossible to pass?? Thanks

I am getting really sick of this. These companies list the devices at hyper inflated prices and then throw bones (codes, plans, hacks, vouchers, spells) to us , making it seem we are getting bargain of the century, while what should be the price to start with. 10 days of Pixel drama now this.

  • +3

Amazing deal but looks like a hell of a lot of work to get it (going to be interesting to see how many people actually manage to get a phone ordered sub $1k). Great post either way..

  • is trade up app working?

  • +1

So I'm assuming the party is still going strong… "Welcome to Samsung. Your current wait time is 47 mins 45 secs and there are 203 customer(s) ahead of you. We will connect you shortly."

chat doesn't seem to even work.

    • Lol 238 users waiting.

      • 2nd attempt on chat, insta closed close to #38 in line

  • The SD card extra discount doesn't seem to be working for me anymore - anyone else noticing that?

    • Seems like the game is over.

      • Now Trade-in errors will go away. I reckon it is a way to stop sales temporarily.

    • Make sure it's in stock - the cheap ones got removed from my cart.

      • Yeah I added the 256gb one cause the 128gb isn't on 20% discount

  • Forget it. Too hard and seems unobtainable. Not going to waste anymore time.

  • +1

SD cards are out of stock it says. Use 2x USB type-c 256GB flash drive instead

  • Samsung deals are pretty good in recent years.

  • Round and round in circles. That's me out.

Congrats to all who managed to secure a phone for $991
