  • $12 delivery to multiple postcodes in Adelaide. Cheers OP

  • Cigarette lighter will suffice?

    • "Included DC power cable to suit cigarette lighter and Merits sockets"

  • Wow, better than the last deal. Battery is handy. I’ll probably pull the trigger on this, good for keeping ice for the esky and putting frozen stuff in.

    • It doesn't seem to come with a battery, does it?

      • Doesn't. You need to buy it separately.

      • I've one of the other units in their range. It understandably chews battery. Either go for two of the smallest ones, or whatever their current biggest one is if you want more than a few hours of compressor use, even on eco.

    • Thats a good way to run these - they do ice no worries at all

  • -5

Can't find the product actual size anywhere. What a mess.

    • +2

If only there was a User Manual download link on the product page and the dimensions shown on Page 3

      • Right you are, hidden in the downloads drop down menu.

    • +1

It's in the description of this deal

  • is the battery included?

    • Battery would be seperate and probably $200-$300 alone

      • +2

Depends what size. They've also got adapters for tool batteries.

15L is tiny though, but still takes up a bit of room considering space to fit the compressor and batteries.

        • +1

unfortunately their tool battery adapters are not compatible with this 15l model, only compatible with the 25l model.

        • it's enough for a daytrip in a Tesla model 3.

  • +1

    Brass Monkey

    That funky junky!

    • Is it also suitable for keeping my Pink Champale cold?

      • Maybe if you buy the option tall lid that adds an extra 5 litres space to fridge.

    • +1

poisoned their asses wi poisonous gasses

  • Damn, i just picked up the basic 15L one yesterday from last week's deal. Wondering if i should exchange it for this one.
Looking at the specs the differences are listed as:

    Optional removeable battery
    Solar charging interface
Powered by AC using optional AC to DC power adapter
    App control via Bluetooth
    USB port

    • +1

I have a larger model with those specs too. I don't use the battery as I run mine off a 120Ah Lifepo4 in the car. I also have a 240v power adaptor, so run it plugged in to cool down before filling with food and drink and putting into the car.

I never use the USB port.

Use the BT every now and then to check, change settings. But it's not needed as all that can be done from the display panel.

I'm not going to bother getting this model 15l, will keep the one from previous deal.

Correction to your above, both models have USB and can be powered via 240v adaptor though..

      • Cheers mate,

looks like the only difference remaining is bluetooth, and i think i can live without that.

        • +1

I was out on Saturday and decided I wanted to buy some groceries on the way home (unplanned stop). I have mine installed in my boot and it was great to turn it on via the app, set it to 4 deg while on the road. Was cool and at temp by 20 mins and by the time I got there. I guess you could do the same by turning it on when you got there and itll cool down while doing your shopping trip but bluetooth has its conveniences.

  • Picked one up from my local. Thanks Op.

  • Not sure it is that practical without the battery, and batteries have gone up a lot. The old version was quite a bit cheaper and is on clearance at $47.52 for 7.8ah. New model to suit this fridge 7.8ah is $169!!

    • Fine without battery. Can run of your ciggy socket, has low battery protection cutoff. When I use mine I run off a secondary 120Ah Lifepo4 in a portable battery box.

The power connector is compatible with other brands (Waeco/Rovin/OzTrail), so can get spare adaptors cheap. I purchased one with an Anderson plug. I also pre-chill using the power adaptor from my 45l Rovin fridge.

      • +1

My cigarette port does not provide power when the car is off. I already have a hardwired dashcam draining battery also. I’d probably run this in freezer mode just tossing up whether it’s worthwhile.

If it came with a power supply for use in the house I definitely would have bought but that’s a $70 extra.

  • Decided to get one and will see how it goes as a car freezer. Jaycar price match but system only allows for $149.50. Fine by me as RTM is a bit of a drive away.

Should come in handy. For that price and with 3 year warranty I think it’s a steal. Hopefully the battery might go on sale in future.

  • They offer a deal in store for 20% off the batteries if you buy with this fridge. I went in to pick my fridge up, and bought the cheapest battery with this discount.

    • I wasn’t offered that?

Might have bought the 15.6ah battery if they did. But today I saw on Ozbargain a power unit at RTM for $399 down from $899. Might be better?

  • Merged from 15L Brass Monkey Portable Fridge Freezer with Battery Compartment $149 RRP $349 ($161 Delivered)
    Go to Deal

This is the newest model with the latch for the lid.

    Includes the battery compartment.

Bought one last weekend for $299.

Quality of the performance of Brass Monkey seems to be pretty good these days. Quality of the build is cheap but the plastic still works fine so far.

This 15 Litre compact fridge/freezer GH2068, fits easily in the boot of most small sedans and hatches. It keeps food and drinks cold for day trips and light-packed weekends away. It is battery and solar charging compatible for independent operation.

    • Nice one brassss!

    • +1

Have a mate who has been through 6 Brass Monkey fridges in 2 years they are fine when stationary but he is a truck driver and drives on some pretty rough outback roads. Will say though theyre replacement of 6 under warranty one after the other is pretty good service at Jaycar! As said stationary fine! The Kings fridges seem to standing up to being knocked around though have a 15 litre paid same price as above in my truck works fine. After speaking with countless truckies over the years though all portable fridges have their problems except one and there really is only one true bulletproof brand ENGEL!

    • I bought it and don’t know how I will use it yet. Pretty much useless for car without a battery.

OK for day trips, providing you purchase the $70(!!) wall outlet plug and cool it down at home. Then plug into cig socket in your car to keep it cool whilst driving.

The batteries are small capacity and horrendously expensive. Best option seems to be buying a power station. I saw this and wondering how long it might power this fridge: https://www.roadtechmarine.com.au/portable-505wh-power-stati…

Does anyone have one of those RTM power stations?

      • You don't need the 240v adapter to pre-cool before trip .. unless you are driving for only 5 mins to get to your destination .. allow for about 30-45 mins drive to fully cool down.

Will keep cold for a few hours without power .. like an esky.

If you need a battery pack, then Bluetti EB3A for $469 when on special (google for locations).

        • The guy in the shop said two hours to cool down. And what if you want to use it as a freezer?

          • @nubzy: I have one (bought on Friday) and used it yesterday while on the road. Was great to turn it on via the app, set it to 4 deg. Was cool and at temp by 20 mins.
So far happy with the purchase.

          • @nubzy: I tested this today. Results …

            1. fridge cools from 27 degrees to about 0 degrees in about 20-30 mins.

            2. if contents of the fridge were at 27 degrees, it would probably take a few hours to chill (my 27 degrees cans of beer were hardly cool after 30 mins)

      • +1

Could be wrong but why not just put a couple of ice bricks in it for a pre-chill?

        • I suppose that would work too. My idea for this was to use it as a freezer for frozen supermarket shopping and keep ice packs and icy poles in there, which can be moved to the esky which lives in my car as needed. Best of both worlds. Just trying to work out how to make it work full time in the car or as close as possible..

    • wonder if jaycar will price match ,they also have the 50 l on special , might make warranty claims easier as jaycar is 2 km away ?
tempting to those saturday shopping trips for the longer distance shops for meat and other cold items. wouldn’t try and keep ice cream frozen, that is something as the last item i buy before heading home. not sure if compressor is best or solid state cooler ? would only be running on battery when driving and depend on insulation when stationary.

      • can anyone confirm if RTM and jaycar are just the same company? IIRC this being mentioned previously in deals. If so, i reckon you'll have no problem price matching

        • +1

Yes, Jaycar Electronics Group own RTM.

        1. it can cool to -20 degrees so ice-cream will be fine, I froze a few ice-blocks the other day quite easily.

        2. what is a solid state cooler?

        • what is a solid state cooler?

          Devices like Peltiers.

      • @garage sale yes they will price match, but their system only allows for $149.50. Bought one the other day.

    • +1

One of these (below) would power it nicely. I have the older model of fridge without bluetooth and eco mode uses about 2A and power mode uses 4A.
This would power it for a few hours in power mode and you can recharge it at the same time so can cover when the car is off.

Note 24ah was on sale a couple days ago for about $240 but not anymore.
      https://www.4wdsupacentre.com.au/undefined/12ah-lithium-port…

Its lifepo4 so much safer in a hot car than jaycars internal li-ion batteries.

    • This deal was recently posted and now expired .. but it is a different older model … https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/805198

      • +1
        • oh ,,. thanks.

wish I saw that .. I would try to get the $150 refund for my fridge purchase last weekend, then would have bought a Bluetti EB3A portable battery that was on special at RTM for $469.

    • I've got 2 of these

    • We have one, it's brilliant.

Happy cools things while you drive, keeps things cool overnight, and if you need it to stay on, popping a trickle charger on your battery easily keeps the vehicle battery topped off.
They're not too hungry at all.

      • How much can they for example?

        • +1

They can a lot, as example.

          • @MasterScythe: Sorry, should be: How much can they fit for example?

            • +1

@dandandan: There is just shy of 15L internal space (the seals on the lid and such take a little room).
So depending on how you package things; quite a lot.

An adult stomach can hold roughly 1L of contents; so allowing for SOME wasted air space, You'd get easily 10 meals in there.
More if you were basing it on calorie intake and filled it with protien bars or such.

      • I can imagine it would keep the drinks cool/slightly better than ambient temp, but not ‘cold’ just running off the car battery, especially if you are only doing 20 mins of driving each day like most people in suburbia. Fridge would never have a chance to get cold enough and keep the drinks nice and cold.

        • They're a propper compressor driven fridge.
Consider how quickly an airconditioner could cool a can, if you sat it in front of it.
It's a little faster than that.

People doing a total of 20 minutes of driving a day would be better suited to an Esky and an icepack.

          • @MasterScythe: That sounds like a hassle compared to switching on the fridge .. plus of course it will get used for more than just a grocery trip.

    • this or brand new dometic from marketplace?

      • do you mean a used dometic? which model are you thinking?

        • I have seen some models on Facebook marketplace in Melbourne.

          • +1

            @jee: Let's take a Dometic CFX25 .. sell for about $1000 or $899 on special .. on marketplace about $600 in scratched up condition .. offer $450.

Yes, Dometic is better quality .. if you are going to use heaps, then I'd go new Dometic for $900 .. for infrequent use then Brass Monkey for $150

            • @matt-ozb: The Brass Monkey fridges are really good. Had a big one (70L I think) for a few years running 24/7 in garage no issues. Got the little 15 the other day.

With 3 year warranty and for the price they go for, they are a bargain. They sting you on the accessories though.. $70 for a wall plug, expensive batteries etc.

              • @nubzy: You can save a bit by buying the wall adapter off eBay https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/144043135661

                • @King Tightarse: Was looking at that yesterday and the bugger put the price up from $49 to $55. Will wait for it to go back on decent discount.

                  • @nubzy: You could use any decent adapter that can do 12-24v dc at 3 to 4 amps. Its just having the correct end fitting integrated that makes them get away with that price.
I have one that came with my fridge but if i didn't, I would just buy the plug and find an adspter to suit

                  • +1

@nubzy: Here is the data off my one: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/14594/107548/20231022_… So its putting out 14.5v DC at 6 amps.

They have specified 6 amps so they can use the same adapter with the larger fridges too, but anything in the 12-24v DC range and over 4 amps will be perfectly fine with this little fridge.
So you could basically buy something like this cable https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005724979207.html?spm=a2… and splice it in to any adapter that suited and away you go

              • @nubzy: Ok .. well I bought one last weekend, so I'm not the one pushing a Dometic for 600% more cost .. although I also have a Dometic CFX45.

  • Purchased last weekend for $299 … RTM have a 14 day price guarantee for members, so a coupon for $150 will be posted soon. Would have preferred a credit but anyway .. not a bad store and great prices usually so should be able to find something to buy.

  • +1

With two bottles of milk fresh from the supermarket and some ambient temp cans, the fridge got down to 5 degrees C in about 20 minutes of driving. Felt nice and chilled. So I think it is a good day trip fridge just running off the car battery, even if you park up for a while it should hold a good temp for quite some time. But when the batteries go on sale I will grab one.

    • I did a quick test and agree ..
      1. fridge will cool from 27 degrees to 0 degrees in about 30 mins
      2. however, contents in the fridge, eg a few cans of beer, will take a lot longer
