Thanks this comment helped me! I couldn't find it as well.

      • One of my cards failed when I tried to use it. When calling Blackhawk the automated system says the card was not activated, but all my Coles receipts say all cards were activated (I got 20 cards in total). Is there a unique number on the card that would show up on the Coles receipt? I'll go back to Coles for them to check, but I have multiple receipts and not sure which one to take.

        • The part of the gift card’s PCN1 will show up on the activation section of the Coles purchase receipt. There should be a row in the activation section that shows the first five numbers and last three numbers of the PCN. The issue is that a lot of Ultimate gift cards will have the same last three numbers of the PCN as the gift card you have, so it is not a bulletproof way to say it was definitely your particular gift card that failed to activate.

The problem is that if the activation section says APPROVED (00), that means that the Coles checkout’s request to activate your gift card was successful, which means that there is really not a lot Coles will do to help you.

How long was it between when you purchased the gift card and then called the Blackhawk Network phone number? Activation is not always instant.

If the gift card is still not activated and it has been 24 hours, my guess is that there was a failure in Blackhawk Network’s system that caused the activation to be unsuccessful, even after the Coles checkout said the request to activate was APPROVED. In that case, contact Blackhawk Network and see if they can manually activate it from their end.

          1. PCN is the Proxy Card Number. This is the unique identifier Blackhawk Network assigns to each of their gift cards.

          • @WookieMonster: Thank you for your detailed reply!

It has been less then 24 hours, so I guess I'll just have to wait it out. However, I can confirm that the last three numbers of the PCN on my cards don't match any of the numbers on my receipts… Which is worrying me.

            • @VaerO: Edit: I've looked at the PCN numbers on another gift card that worked and noted that the last three numbers from it, also don't match any of the receipts. The first 4 numbers across all the cards match fine (they're all the same) just not the last three…

              • @VaerO: I'm confused.

I am looking at a purchase receipt for an Ultimate gift card I previously purchased from Coles. In the activation section, it says on one row:

<first six numbers of PCN> <last three numbers of PCN> 3RD PARTY GIFT CARD

The numbers printed on the receipt match the PCN printed on the Ultimate gift card.

Thank you to WookieMonster for helping me with my first process on these gift cards! What a wild ride it has been.

    My experience:
1 - I went to first coles and purchased 1 lot of 5 gift cards through self serve, on the 5th scan it asked for an attendant. The attendant had to unlock the payment system. I went back into the same coles and got another 10 and a different attendant unlocked the payment system for the first 5 then she saw me have another 5 and she declined me to purchase the 2nd lot. I begged her it's just another 5 then she spilled out… its policy blah blah blah. So I got 10 at first coles.
2 - Went to my second coles, 10 minutes away and got 8 (I needed 18 in total). I scanned my first 4 thinking it won't call the attendant, but it did at 4. Staff member unlocked it for me to pay, all good. Scanned my next 4 and she unlocked it and I paid. She was nice and she didn't give a crap how many cards I am purchasing.
3 - Went to good guys, paid for my items with 18 gift cards, the rep wanted to know where I got the gift cards and I said go to coles, they are having 10% off. Then I explained my experience while scanning all the gift cards.

I went to good guys when it wasn't busy, around 12pm but again, I didn't know if this was a busy or non-busy time but it wasn't busy.

Got my fisher & paykel stove top I wanted for months as good guys can't discount F&P products, I have to wait until the F&P has a sale

    Item retails for $1949
    F&P online sale $1749
Total paid after gift cards $1574

Not bad and great timing too for the gift cards to be at 10% off.

    • +2

Not bad for a discount, fun experience as well ;)

  • How do we get the 10% or 20% off with these gift cards?

  • I've been to three Coles and they're all completely sold out

    • They are hidden in the cabinets.

      • I asked the staff at each store if they had more available and they all instantly said no and got quite defensive. They must be sick of us coming for these lol. One guy even said "They only come out each morning, I can't say anymore!".

  • Can I use a coles giftcard to pay for them? I have a egiftpost.com flexi gift card which I can use to get coles gift card, would it work or they have patched it ?

    • +1

Unfortunately no. Coles patched it several months ago.

You can use ShopBack's supermarket gift card, add to wallet and choose card at the checkout.

      • I tried using a ShopBack Supermarket Gift Card to stack on with the Ultimate Cards, however i got an INVALID PRODUCT MIX error at the EFTPOS machine terminal at self checkouts. Do I have to go to a cashier checkout to use those cards? Or?…

        • +1

If you got an Invalid Product Mix error, that means Coles knows you are trying to use a Shopback Supermarket Visa gift card and is choosing to stop you from doing this. It is highly likely that Coles has updated all their checkouts across all stores across Australia, not just the checkout you tried to use. You can keep trying if you want, but my confidence level of you finding an unpatched Coles checkout is quite low.

I will point out that what you were trying to do is also against the terms and conditions of Shopback Supermarket Visa gift cards. The Shopback Supermarket Visa gift card is really just an Activ Visa gift card with special branding, and the terms and conditions of Activ Visa gift cards includes the following:

          3. Cards cannot be used towards the purchase of any other gift cards or vouchers at participating merchants.

  • Curious if any of these gift cards are usable at fantastic furniture

  • With Ikea, it says it cannot be used online. Has anyone found a way to use this with Ikea online as currently Ikea Tempe have a $10 off per $60 purchase for click and collect and would be good to have another 10% off via Ultimate Giftcard. Will exchanging the Ultimate Giftcard to Ikea 'E-Gift' work online at ikea? First time user of Ultimate Giftcards so if my questions are super basic, apologies in advance.

    • +2

Yes if you convert it to a digital gift card through the Ultimate Gift Cards website, you will be able to use it on IKEA online.

        Thanks mate.

      • Hey Magical, just a follow up, can you Exchange multiple Ultimate Gift Cards to just one Ikea Egift? Eg. I want to buy 3 x $100 Ultimate gift cards and exchange them for a single $300 Ikea Egift. Or will I have to do it individually and get 3 x $100 Ikea Egift? Reason I ask is I am not sure if Ikea accepts multiple Egift cards online in 1 go or do I have to divide my transactions to 3 x $100 for the online Ikea purchase? First time trying to take advantage of discount gift cards and it's confusing. Thanks in advance.

        • +2

Hey, it will be up to the value of the card. So if you have 3 x Ultimate gift cards worth $100 each then yeah you will have to exchange each one individually as a $100 IKEA Gift card. It only takes a few mins per card. If you don't need $300 but say $250 then you can exchange 1/2 of your 3rd $100 card for $50 IKEA and $50 for JB (for example).

There is no limit of how many gift cards according to their website:

There is no limit to the number of IKEA cards that can be used in one transaction.

I have not tested it yet but I'm sure their website would be accurate. Cheers.

          • +1

@Magical Sound Shower: It looks like the IKEA website is accurate (except for the one person running into an apparently known error when trying to redeem more than 5 IKEA gift cards in one online transaction).

          • +1
          • @Magical Sound Shower: I bought 5 x $50 Ultimate gift cards for $250 at Coles and exchanged them for Ikea Egift online hoping it would give me 1 x $250 ikea Egift but it is only doing one by one so now I have 5 x $50 Ikea Egift. Item in cart is $150 but I am trying to pay for it with $50 Egift cards. Say's 'There was an error adding your gift card, please check your card details and make sure there is sufficient balance'. Is it because I can only use 1 Egift card per transaction and in this case the value for my 5 x Egift is only $50 each and now won't work? I thought I can add multiple Egift cards in the Ikea payment page. Man this 10% discount is just not worth the time and effort.

  • did they ended it? scanning at full price

  • does anyone know if this has ended?

    • bought a $100 ultimate Home card a few hours ago at my local coles for $90!

  • some Ultimate cards include less brands?
Went in store to buy gift cards to use at IKEA. As per the descriptions and tables online, Ultimate Home and Ultimate Everyone should've worked- bought an Ultimate Home gift card and turns out IKEA wasn't listed on the card:((

Havn't found any posts or info online about some Ultimate Home/Everyone cards that only have half the brands available???

    • Did you look on OzBargain? There is a FAQ that address your question, but in short:

The Ultimate gift card website is the source of truth for participating retailers, because that is what the Ultimate gift card terms and conditions say.

IKEA was added as a participating retailer for the Ultimate gift card scheme in late July 2023, and only started appearing on the packaging of physical Ultimate gift cards manufactured from May 2023 onwards.

The Ultimate Home gift card you have appears to be from the batch manufactured around June 2022 (and you can confirm this by checking the month/year printed on both the back of the packaging and the back of the gift card under the magstripe) and I first spotted them for sale at retailers around October 2022.

      • Precisely my thoughts as well! That's why I was surprised when I entered the details online to check the balance of the card as well as the brands that IKEA was still not listed online

        • +1

The website you have screenshotted is not the Ultimate gift cards website. It is a completely separate website (MyPrepaidCentre), so according to the Ultimate gift card terms and conditions, it does not matter what MyPrepaidCentre says are the participating retailers. As per clause 1 of the Ultimate gift card terms and conditions…

For a full and updated list of participating merchants please visit our website www.ultimategiftcards.com.au.

It looks as though the MyPrepaidCentre website is showing the list of participating retailers as of early July 2023, because that was the last time that list was correct. In other words, someone at Blackhawk Network needs to update the MyPrepaidCentre website.

If you want to alleviate your concerns, my suggestion is you go onto the Ultimate gift card exchange portal and see whether IKEA is listed on there, because the Ultimate Home gift card webpage says you can go to this portal and exchange your Ultimate Home gift card for a digital IKEA gift card. (Don’t worry, you do not have to commit to exchanging your gift card for a retailer-specific digital gift card if you only log on to the exchange portal.)

Just a heads up that three new participating retailers were added to the Ultimate gift card scheme recently:

    • Late last week, Toyworld was added to the Ultimate Him gift card.

    • Earlier today, Jaycar was added to the Ultimate Birthday, Ultimate Celebrate, Ultimate Everyone, Ultimate Him, Ultimate Home, Ultimate Just For You and Ultimate Thank You gift cards.

    • Earlier today, Road Tech Marine was added to the Ultimate Birthday, Ultimate Celebrate, Ultimate Everyone, Ultimate Him, Ultimate Just For You and Ultimate Thank You gift cards.

just wondering if anyone had success using ultimate home GC at Kogan? I bought few hundred dollars worth, but Kogan egift card not listed under ultimate gift card exchange website, so I tried using it as VISA at Kogan check out for a high value item, but they don't allow stack of multiple cards, so last resort I tried to buy Kogan gift card at Kogan website using the ultimate GC, still no success.

so how are we supposed to use the ultimate GC at Kogan???

    • +1

I would assume you can only use a maximum of 1 Ultimate Gift Card at checkout like other retailers (JB etc). Since you can't swap them for a Kogan e-gift card, you'll have to use your other Kogan cards for other purchases.

      • +2

thank you for your reply, didn't realise the cards cannot be stacked to purchase large items, this isn't clearly stated and for someone new to using gift cards, this is really frustrating. I looked through older posts, and seems like other people were having the same issue as me, but couldn't find a solution. Pretty shady practice if you ask me, don't have anything else to buy to from Kogan. Wonder if Coles would accept refunds…

        • +1

No problems. Is there any other retailers you could use those cards at for another purchase? Need to purchase anything at JB/IKEA/OfficeWorks/The Good Guys etc? No you won't be able to refund your gift cards unfortunately.

          • +1

@Magical Sound Shower: ah damn, I'll contact ultimate gift card to see if they could do anything about it, worst case scenario I'll convert it to JB egift card and buy something there, thanks again

  • This is SO crap man. I bought 5 x $50 Ultimate gift cards for $250 at Coles and exchanged them for Ikea Egift online hoping it would give me 1 x $250 ikea Egift but it is only doing one by one so now I have 5 x $50 Ikea Egift. Item in Ikea cart is $145 but I am trying to pay for it with 3 x $50 Egift cards. It won't let me. How are people doing this?
