Honestly not bad at all.. I just wish it could take say 12-16 drives.

EDIT probably worth mentioning it appears to be a rack mount.. maybe 4u?

      I saw what you did there… :)

      Maybe, if it's not 4u it's 2u? or wrong grammar ::P

  • Can we get some measurements? Looks like 3RU or maybe 2.5RU, 19 inch rack mount, would be nice to know the depth

    • 3.5 RU , 300mm deep, 160mm high, 43cm wide, removable rack mount (ears), removable PC bed, takes up to MATX form factor motherboard and standard ATX power supply

Take up 3-4 RU but can only hold 8 disks? No thanks.

    • Plenty of room to add more disks in the back. I could easily add heaps of SSDs.

It's not bad for someone who has a short-depth network rack. My rack is only 300mm deep, I find it really hard to find shorter cases than thinner ones.

    • It might be a bit niche because of that but this is pretty ideal for a home NAS. All I can fit here is a 400mm deep 12RU rack. I also only need to fit 6=8 drives. For me this seems perfect.

  • Silverstone i think has better rack mount solutions for this price, i think scorptec also has free shipping over X amount to select states.

  • is there anyway to mount fans on the back of the drive trays, seem like the drives would get pretty hot as fans only cover the bottom section for the mobo are parts but not the drives

    • There is a honeycomb lift panel at the top rear you can mount fans to pull additional air through the system if needed

Good size case for those that have wall mounted racks

  • Looks like a rebadged RackChoice chasis (or whatever OEM RackChoice rebadges from)

    • Can't seem to find any reference to "RackChoice" online? Who/where sells that brand?

      • Mostly Amazon & eBay that I have found

        • Yeah just found some by reverse image searching. Some do look similar, but have increased depth than this one.

          • @CharcoaI: Might be hard to find this particular case in Australia as we have a very limited market and hence poor choice. I remember seeing this style of caddy under the brand Rackchoice on one of the NAS review channels on Youtube, so if you're looking for something similar and/or cheaper (aka not pay the rebadge tax) you might be able to find it on Amazon/Alibaba/a Chinese estore.

            • @Trance N Dance: To help you out we use the standard 8 bay NAS front end to keep the cost low, but have a completely changed internal bed and length , which we have cut and made to our specifications, including the sliding bed, raised stand-offs, etc hope this helps

So the selling point here is that it's only 30cm deep, which is handy if you have a short rack.

If you have the space you'd probably be better off with TGC's 24 bay hotswap chassis at about $800, or they have a 36 bay chassis for about $600, only it has 80mm fans instead of 120mm so it'll be pretty noisy. Both are 60cm deep.

  • OP, any chance of bringing the discounted price to match your previous deal?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/783224

And/or including free shipping on this deal?

    • Unfortunately we cant at this time. Our previous code was due to a huge bulk order placed. However if you email us we'll probably throw in some extra stuff. :)

      • With the coupon the H04rd3 comes to $405+$50 for me is the code broken?

        • @wedge I have emailed you

          • @Tamps: Hey Tamps, we'll email you back, the code should give you $440 - $88 code + $50 delivery of $402 total

  • We are getting close to the end of our stock for this code
