  • For existing or returning users??

    • Probably new only I'd say.

      • +4

Yes it is. Just tried. For anyone new, go for bitwarden

        • Damn, I must try that myself next time!

I've used one password for many years. While others are catching up, against the others, it was a clear winner for me.

Meh, i just store my passwords in my browser.

Post-it on my work monitor in my open cubicle next to a high traffic corridor

      • Meh, I just store my password in my brain.

I just use the 10 most common passwords, that way I'll never forget.

      • +1

meh, I use "incorrect" as my password, even if I forget it, computer will remind me by showing "your password is incorrect", boom :-)
        (old joke though)

        • Haha yes dont laugh, but i have a tech illiterate mate who forgets his password all the time for everything. I told him to use the password "IDontKnow" so when it asks, he can say I Dont Know and he will in turn remember it… so he done just that, and adds 123 on the end if it needs a number lol.

I just use Password Manager on Chrome. Every password is unique using their generated suggested password, I like their Password Checkup feature, with alerts for breaches.

Not sure I would benefit from any of these other paid password keeper subscription services

Theres one neat feature that isnt there on chrome - 1Password can generate and prefill MFA codes that youd normally need to pull your phone out for

      • Doesn't that negate the point of MFA

        • Yeap, I would have thought so.

I only ever keep all under the one roof for casual sites i.e. places that pose no risk even if hacked. All others are set to SMS, Email or Biometrics.

        • Arguable. Google Authenticator app now also syncs to cloud and it's still widely accepted for MFA. You can't just login to 1Password either - needs setup on the machine with a secret that you wouldn't normally keep around on the same computer

And SMS messages get auto-sent to macs for people using macs.. lines are blurred. It's safe if you know the risks and know what you are doing

  • Will it store your Ozbargain password for your account?

    • +6

No it supports every website in the world except this one…

        Hahaha. Good one☝️

    100% off bitwarden

    • link?

100% off deal? 7 days trial is not a deal compared to 6 months offered here.

@Pavle: It's free tier is fine.

          • @Pavle: Its free. look under pricing for personal users. Gives you everything you need to store data

            • @Froot Loops: Thanks - I use a family plan. Got a good deal for a long running free period and then $125 gift cards for $99 from 1Password.
              Might investigate switching one day

              • @Pavle: It’s worthwhile supporting, isn’t that expensive in the first place

  • Agree Bitwarden is a good alternative

I have now moved across to using Proton Pass due to the alias, and integration with protonmail (with the alias)

I'm switching FROM Bitwarden… they botched their passkey rollout :( so sad… anyway, will give this a run for 6 months and see if they fix their (profanity).

  • Care to share details about the botched part?

  • Any idea when the 6 months free 1password offer expires? I want to sign up in a couple months after my paid LastPass subscription finishes. Cheers.

  • 6 months free has expired :(
