    Yes it can run Plex

For that price they should have 16GB of RAM.

Provide 1 example with similar size, specs and price with 16GB of RAM.

      I'll wait.

      16GB = 16 Chrome Tabs

      • People still using Chrome since they introduced 'Ad Topics' need not apply to cool homelab solutions.

        • chrome://settings/adPrivacy

        • Are we all back on Firefox now?

          • @ONEMariachi: That or Safari.
Just anything not Chrome/Blink based, otherwise Youtube and other such sites gets grumpy at ad blockers.

            • +1

@MasterScythe: not had any issues with ublock origin yet

              • @ONEMariachi: You're in the lucky minority.

Even with us all contributing pulls to the git as fast as we can, there's often several hours between updates where youtube will detect blockers at the moment.

          • @ONEMariachi: I have been for years, Chrome annoys me.

  • It's a shame Dell Australia does not stock "USB Type-C 3.1 Gen 2 Alt Mode" module anymore to go with this.

    • Forum post for reference

Not surprised, since the 7060 was first released back in 2018.

    • Can't you just get them elsewhere?

      • Difficult to find and/or expensive.

      • I think you can still get one from Dell UK for GBP23.03

    • Ask Dell if they can supply the new part - GMHY5. Not listed on the site but looks to be the same thing by all accounts.

  • can you put a 3.5" drive in these?

  • Is the SSD removeable/swapable?

    • Yes, has NVMe slot and 2.5inch SATA bay

    Power consumption?

    • -3

      Electricity.

    • About 50w max, sips power at idle

    • around 15-20w

if it's being absolutely hammered 24/7 then closer to 50w

  • Any of these have a spare m.2 slot?

    • pretty sure these only have 1 full sized m.2 for nvme

and a smaller m.2 for wifi

      plus 2.5" ssd

the hp version has 2x full sized m.2 for nvme plus a smaler m.2 for wifi and a 2.5" ssd however the ssd cage doesn't fit with both m.2 nvme's used, you'll need to either modify ssd cage or toss it out and use double sided tape instead to secure the ssd

  • Does anyone know if you can put any sort of half decent video card in the SFF PC's? (eg, a ~$300 card, not talking the latest and greatest).

I'm not a big gamer but looking to get something for the kids to use. They won't be wanting to play the latest graphics heavy titles but something a bit better than the Intel on board would be ideal.

If so, any recommendations on a budget friendly card?

      Hello Sir 🤘
The answer is that it depends.

Low profile cards are expensive and there's a very limited selection, and most of them are double-width (I think the HP machines can only fit a single width card, and the Dells can fit a dual width card but it needs to go into the x4 slot instead of the x16 slot).
And on top of all that, even the best low profile cards aren't really comparable to modern cards - they're all older gen.

You're much better off looking for the Tower form factor HP or Dell - they cost similar amounts, but they have full size card slots and much bigger power supplies - you can put pretty much any normal graphics card in, so just buy what your budget allows. Some of them even come with graphics cards.

      • Hello Nom :)

I haven't seen any of those HP's around for a while, but I know the ones you're talking about. Thanks, I will keep my eye out and see what I can find.

    • low profile options i can think of are

      $220 rx 6400 - 50w - single slot
      $180 gtx 1650 - 75w - double slot?

rx is newer and slightly more powerful and more power efficient but performance between the too are comparable

just make sure you get the low profile version and check that you have 2x slot space if you go for the 1650

      • Thanks, I ended up buying one of these (price was $399.99 and eBay gave me a $20 discount voucher)

Easier that way than having to deal with low profile video cards in small cases.

  • does the 7060 work with a dock? If so, any idea which dock?

    • This is a desktop not a laptop 👍 It's got all the ports you need directly on the chassis.

  • Picked up an OptiPlex 7070, Ordered Wednesday, turned up today (Monday). Very happy with the quality, shipping etc etc. Looks to be a really nice machine at a great price. Thank you!
