  • any exclusive list of movies?

      https://mubi.com/en/au/collections/mubi-releases

First two links that show up when you google "MUBI exclusives"

      • +17

Love when people add the subtle "it's on the first page of Google" but still provides the helpful information. 👏

        • +1

          Should be more.
But I'm not sure if they're US exclusives or not. So would require a vpn.

        • +2

Thats a list of their "exclusive premiere" films, if you click the link on the side "browse" you see more.

    • +9

There aren't many exclusives, but there are a lot of foreign, classic and art films that you won't find streaming anywhere else, if you are interested in that kind of thing.

      • +4

Yeah i am actually quite interested.

      • +10

Quite a lot of foreign and art films on sbs on demand too, great service that one.

        • +7

Used to be great, but ruined by ads.

  • +2

The Aussie library is meant to be pretty poor, but happy for someone disprove this and convince me this is a good deal…

    • +1

      VPN dont work?

      • +1

yeah, a decent library if you switch regions.

    • +8

IMO, MUBI only works if you look at it as curated movie recommendations for films you otherwise would never have seen. If you're concerned about the library size you're probably not going to enjoy it - the odds of a specific film you are interested in being in the library at the time you want to watch it are quite small. But if you think of it as, once a week I'm going to watch a new film that I might know nothing about, it's great. Or, if you are in to classic cinema, you can probably work through a backlog of significant films that you've never got round to watching.

Ye I'm a big indie fan and had a quick look at the link someone shared above, definitely my type of movies, some of which end up on SBS on demand (which is super underrated). Just was not sure about the AU library, based on previous deals for this streaming service, it was highly recommended to do it via VPN.

        • Ok, I didn't know about that. Do you know is the region permanently tied to your signup, or can you browse with a VPN to change the library after signup?

          • @367: No, you'll need to keep using the vpn to access the offshore library, hence i was a bit iffy as I am lazy and prefer to have it on an apple tv

            • @tightm8: Apple TV supports VPN apps

            • @tightm8: Does it have to be the same region you signed up with - you can't sign up with this deal and then browse with a VPN to get the US library?

              • +2

@367: You can use VPN after sign up to jump regions

          • +2

@367: I use the VPN when I'm moving between pages, but once I have a movie loaded up I can turn the VPN off and the video will keep streaming :)

They have a 7 day free trial available too (credit card info required) if you want to suss the service out over the weekend.

    • +1

Might do this first, good point!

    • +2

Note that library is quite dynamic - that add one new movie each day and it will be available for a month. So, if you see something interesting now is not guarantee that it would always like that (and vice versa)
But still it could give you quite good understanding what type of movies to expect.

      • Unsure if your understanding is up to date. They used to add/remove a film each day but theyve since changed their model and have many more movies available ongoing.

  • -1

Don't this its $4+/month worthy. I would rather use SBS on demand

    • Can't download movies from SBS on demand?

      • You're not trying hard enough then…

  • +2

Also TRY429.99 (A$23.64)/year via Turkiye Apple ID. Free 7 days trial.

    • +1

Sure, if you like to watch Turkish movies.

      • +1

        Second best to Hollywood

      • +1

        Better than most movies.

  • +2

    MUBI rocks

  • +3

rehash of SBS movies except you pay now and get to choose Shirley Bassey movies at any time of the day.

  • +3

Looks awesome, i love older hard to find movies. I'm so over 99% of the new garbage released today. Great find

    • -1

I'm so over 99% of the new garbage released today.

But you're ok with the over 99% garbage released is the past?

      • +1

The great thing is that the 1% of the valuable stuff from the past is hundreds of films.

The current 1% is maybe in dozens.

        • I've already seen all the past ones though…

Looking forward to the new ones.

      • The point of a curated service like MUBI is surfacing that 1%.

HamBoi69 has previously shared a bunch of codes for free three month trials of Mubi. It looks like three of them still work. Unfortunately it doesn't look like they will tack the twelve paid months on the end of the free three if you try to take up both offers. You'd have to choose one or the other

  • Oh no. Not eligible for this promotion. Dang.

    • As in: your account is paid for the next year and you can't add this on the top of the paid time?

Wondering how a person can't be eligible for this.

      • Student account paying monthly.

Clicked on the link above, Mubi then came back saying "Unfortunately you’re not eligible for this promotion."

        • +1

Makes sense to create a new, non-student account and still save ~$45, unless you only don't need it the whole year.

          • @pizzaguy: Yup. I was actually thinking about that. Still saves a fair amount over the student pricing, which was about to go away next month anyway.

  • Disappointing. My sub runs out on 15/11. I cancelled and tried this link but not available for me. Guess I'll try one of the free trials, if they work that is. No reward for loyalty.
