  • Anyone know if this has pass through charging

    • I am curious about this too.

The 20W version does, but re-negotiates charging to 5V, and will only output 5V. If you disconnect the input, it re-negotiates the output again, so disconnects for a fraction of a second. So won't work as a UPS directly.

Based on that I suspect the 15W version will do pass through. Probably it will also disconnect when the input stops, so won't be a good UPS option by itself. And depending how it is actually set up internally to do the pass through, it might not be very efficient, or aid longevity.

Still, it's a very cheap battery bank for messing around with experimentation. That said, Baseus QC has been poor recently, so chances of DOA, or bad cells that fail quickly are possible.

    • +1

I tested the 15W, 30,000 mAh version, and it does proper pass through.

It renegotiates with a short disconnect on plug in and unplug, so can't be used as a UPS.

      • So I couldn’t wire it to a 10w solar panel to charge throughout the day and also have some usb wyze cameras drawing down on its power?

        • If i get time I'll try this as I've got a few v3 wyzes a 10w solar panel and this 30k 15w

        • +1

Provided they are the Wyze cameras with their own batteries, that should be fine. The power bank just won't be a UPS - uninterruptible power supply.

If the security cameras have a battery built in, then that acts as the UPS. The only thing will be how the cameras draw power, which will need to be enough to keep the power bank awake, or trigger it into waking up. The solar disconnecting / reconnecting should be

If the cameras don't have internal batteries, then they will power cycle when the solar charge is connected or disconnected. Depending on how sensitive they are, the very brief interruption when the power bank starts charging may not power cycle them. But the longer interruption when disconnecting the charge probably will. The cameras power cycling isn;t really an issue though, aside from the brief interruption.

An issue here will be how you set up the solar to feed 5V to the power bank, as it may create a lot of connect / disconnect cycles in the morning and evening, which will could be problematic. I can't think of a simple way offhand to avoid this.

  • Thats pretty cheap ngl

    • +2

      Do you generally lie?

  • I resisted the last deal, hard to say no at this price, lol

  • +2

    $22 for 30,000 mAh! Impressive.

I have not tested the 15W (5V only version) but the $30 20W version is excellent.

I have ordered the 15W version just to run some 5V LEDs away from other power.

    • -1

      You mean $29.95

      • $21.96 with the plus code TOPH22… a little more for non-plus people.. .

      • +1

        $29.94 ;)

*edit - for the 20W one

  • +1

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 15W/20W slow as compared to other chargers that have come out.
Even the Xiaomi ones go to 65W/100W PD

    • Yep, but if all you're using it for is to power some lights or recharge a phone, it's great bang for buck…

    • Most 65w/100w arn't intended to be used for that day in, day out when they are 20,000mah storage - you're drawing at a high rate from the cell and will reduce its life reasonably fast.

As long as it has QC, around 25w - you're covered for fast enough charging on all mobile phones (yes I know samsung and huwai bolt on their extra stuff…)

  • Can 30,000 be carried while travelling overseas?

    • Website says "Allow to bring on a plane". for the 30000mAh model.

      • This very good, I need buy now

        • Don’t. It’s not allowed on most flights without signing a form, and some others ban it completely. Unless of course they have fake ratings on them.

      • Yeah Baseus has a horrible habit of jumbling all their power banks together in listing in annoying ways, and then having slides that refer to some not to others. And then just out and out plain incorrect info.

    • +4

You'll require airlines approval to take on the plane as it's over 100Wh (the 30000mah is 111Wh).

    • -1

      Unfortunately no

    • For the most part (at least on domestic routes) yes, you can - but only in carry on baggage.

Airline allowances are based on watt hours and they generally must be below 100W. International airlines may have differing rules though.

  • are you serious.. I just bought it for $4 more from the last post

    • Yes. I bought the 15W 20,000 for $23~ :(

      • Same here, opened box today

        • HODL!!!… market will recover for sure

  • Why did mAh become the standard unit for portable devices? The world would be a better place if they used watt hours.

    • Can you explain to a somewhat layman such as myself why this is significant?

      • +5

If I have a AA battery with 1000mAh, a portable charger with 1000mAh and a 12V battery with 1000mAh, do they all have the same amount of energy?

        But they’re all 1000mAh!

The trick is the voltage is different. A rechargeable AA battery is 1.2V, a portable charger uses 3.7V rating and a 12V is 12V. So it would have 10 times the energy despite saying it’s 1000mAh.

        P = V * I

So the AA battery has 1.2Wh, 3.7Wh on the portable charger and 12Wh with the 12V battery, which actually tells you how much energy each battery has. You’ll find these ratings on larger batteries.

      • +1

mAh is not useful to determine the capacity without knowing the voltage (which is usually 3.7V for power banks). If you have cells with different voltages, you start comparing apples and oranges.

Wh is a more consistent unit to measure capacity, which is what you get when you multiply the Ah value with V. For example, this 10,000 mAh power bank has a capacity of 37Wh.

  • Thanks OP, got 15W 20000

  • 20W 30000mAh coming up as
    $47.99
    -20%(-$9.60)
    =$38.39?
(Edit: Stoopid forgot to stack with TOPH20) (facepalm)

  • thanks op got 20W 30000 for $29.95

  • CHARGER20 is automatically applied, 15W 20,000mhA showing $23.03, not $17.96
Is there a trick I am missing?

    • +1

Are you applying TOPH20 or TOPH22 (if you have Plus) in the checkout? … (you need to tick the box for them to apply)

      • dont have ebay plus and TOPH20 or TOPH22 cant be applied.
        Should still be $18.43?

        • +1

Odd, TOPH20 should be working for you…

For me with Plus, the TOPH22 code is already in the checkout, I just have to tick the box down the bottom to apply it…

    • +1

      Also use TPH20 or TOPH22

    • +1

Try typing the codes instead of copy & paste. It worked for me just now.

  • -3

I think the seller is scam because by mistake I placed my oder with a wrong card asked seller to cancel the order he just declined and send me tracking details saying that I placed the order yesterday

    Still with ebay help team
    Ps: admin

If you can please please double check and take down the post

  • Would anyone recommend one of these for a steam deck??

    • +1

Works fine, might drain your battery by a little bit if you're gaming while charging as the steam deck sometimes uses 25w+

  • +2

Thanks OP, Didn't need it so I bought one.

  • +1

I just got mine delivered today from the last deal. Bought too early…

  • Thanks Op, bought one

  • Thanks Op. bought 20000 (15w)

  • None of the codes worked for me. I have ebay plus. The best I get on the 30 unit is

    Subtotal (1 item) AU $47.99
    Postage AU $10.00
    Discount -AU $9.60
    Order total
    AU $48.39

    Gave up.

    • Strange, the 30,000 20w comes up like this for me:
      Subtotal (1 item) AU $47.99
      Postage Free
      Discount -AU $9.60
      Vouchers/coupons -AU $8.45
      Order total
      AU $29.94

    • Tried again; it went a bit better but would only let me apply a single voucher. Dummy spat the additional attempts.

I paid $29.94 because I wanted it and further frustrations would only burst a blood vessel or some such…

      Cheers

      • Was your account originally set up in another country?…. It may be worth jumping on chat at some stage and get the rep to look over your account, at times accounts are set to other countries, rather than Australia, and that prevents some codes from working..

        • +1

No. In AU. Did have the VPN on via an Adelaide server. Turned it off on the second attempt ($29.94).

          I'm OK with that.

  • I was going to get teh 20000 mAh/15W, but out of stock.
    I bought 2-off 30000 mAh / 20W for $45.91 (ebay plus)
    Cheaper than posted above !

    • I seem to be unable to apply the vouchers. The EbayPlus gremlins & gods must hate me- I get this frequently…

    • Only way I can see that happening is if you had some existing credits in your account from before or perhaps some sort of a targeted promotion.

      • 2 items $73.58
        item discount -$14.73
        voucher -$12.95
        total $45.91

        https://imgur.com/a/7h7rFbY

I reckon they stuffed up the listing as things went out of stock, and the wrong prices were being applied to items, hence so many posters here not able to access the advertised prices.

Mine is marked as posted :)

      • battery packs arrived today. They're 20,000 mAh 22.5W.

        My ebay purchase history says:

Baseus 30000mAh Power Bank 20W Fast Charging Charger External Battery Powerbank
        Cut/paste from purchase history:

        AU $73.58Unit price AU $73.58
        Item number:313601588432
        20000mAh ⋅ Quantity 220000mAh, quantity 2

Returns accepted through 17 Dec 2023.

So it seems they completely frocked up the description in the listing, in multiple places.
Turns out I got roughly what I originally wanted.
They're quite a brick, even at 20,000mAh (omg maybe they're 200000mAh like in the last of 3 multiple choice capacity descriptions). Not too sad I didn't get the 30,000s

        • To clarify, did you get the metal shell ones that say 22.5W on the front? Or plastic and 20W written on them?

eBay item number is for the entire listing, and is the same for the variant options within the listing.

When adding items to the cart, it shows the listing title, which is "Baseus 30000mAh Power Bank 20W Fast Charging Charger External Battery Powerbank" no matter which variant you buy. The way Baseus groups variants and the titles they use are quite annoying.

Under the title in the cart or checkout it lists the variant being purchased. This is easy to miss (I know from experience).

Considering your were charged the exact amount for the 20,000 mAh power banks, and got the 20,000 mAh power banks, I wonder if perhaps you did have the 20,000 mAh models in your cart. (That is not to say there was not some other error in terms of how it was displayed, or added to the cart)

You could check into this by looking at your order details. I grabbed one of the 15W 30,000 mAh power banks from the same listing, and as a comparison, this is what my order details look like.

Baseus 30000mAh Power Bank 20W Fast Charging Charger External Battery Powerbank
          Item number:313601588432
          30000mAh (15W)

          • @Prong: I thought that might be what happened (after I posted).
I definitely added the 30,000's to my cart, because the 20,000's were greyed out as 'sold out'.
            Something screwy with their listing.
Happy I got what I originally wanted, for the right price, with bonus 11.25% power rating (22.5W is moulded in the texture on the front of the casing)

            • @effgee: Yeah ok, interesting. So does it looks slightly different to the one in the eBay ad?

              So like this? - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/314456526553

It's a slightly more expensive "Star Lord" model that supports HUAWEI 22.5W SCP (SuperCharge Protocol) that can do 10V, 2.25A (22.5W). PD output is up to 20W (9V 2.22A).

              Anyway, a good deal!

              • +1

@Prong: Yes, that's the one. Thanks for the extra info. I don't own a Huawei so I guess it's just a 20W charger, which is all good for me

        • Explains the price difference, glad you got what you were after. $23 for a 20k unit is a very good price and minimal hassles if you want to take it on a plane etc.

  • Why does it want to charge me $10 for shipping?

    • $10 is for express shipment, standard shipment is free.

  • +1

Is this a scam? I just purchased & got no confirmation email from eBay or Paypal. I rang eBay & the purchase is not on their system.

    :-/

    • +1

I got all the emails ok, and the shipping email..

Maybe your order went through as they went out of stock or the likes? …

      • +1

The last message I posted I edited because I didn't get charged. I attempted again & it worked. Dunno why my post disappeared.

        :-/

        • Your device/phone/pc must be possessed, orders and posts vanishing, lol

          • +1

            @FLICKIT: Poltergeist? lol

            • @simiot: That, or too many dodgy porn sites?, Porntergeists?

              • +1

@FLICKIT: I can honestly say I don't acquire bad cookie at those sites HAHA I don't use them at all. It was just so weird going through the checkout on eBay, using Paypal & it legitimately gave a success page, that's why I rang them about it. I know when I buy something on eBay, I get the Paypal receipt first, & the eBay one last in my email. It was just really strange.

                :-)

  • Needed 20K, but ended up ordering 30K. I hope that there aren't any issues with travelling with it.

  • The 30K one looks THICC.

  • 20000mah 20w comes in at AU $28.70 for me with both codes (eBay Plus) applied. What am I doing wrong?

    • Same for me. Can anyone explain?

  • I get $18.71 for the 10k 15W, charger 20 and top 22 applied. What am I missing, or prices above for the non15w ones that are sold out?

    • Seller has increased the prices

  • I think they might have increased the price.

  • One of the (remaining) drop-down options is '10,000mAh, 15W'. Selecting this puts a 30,000mAh 20W item in your cart (at least that's what the cart description says, as well as 10,000mAh, 15W).
Eb+ stacked vouchers brings list price of $29.99 down to $18.71.
Anyone game to buy that option and see what you get?

EDIT - I see seller has increased prices… no doubt this option is 10K and 15W.

    • +1

It's because the cart uses the listing title, which says 30,000 mAh. In the checkout it tells you the listing option you are ordering underneath.

  • Missed out on the cheese but should I go for the worm or wait for another deal? My ozb mentality is stopping me from buying something that's cheaper literally minutes ago :S

  • For anyone who missed out on the 20w 30000mah battery, this deal is still going
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/810286

It’s pretty much the same price as above with the TOPH20/TOPH22 codes

  • Does the 30000mah 20w charge Macbook?

    • Not effectively, or very slowly if at all.

  • Received my 30k 15w one must say its very slow to recharge it.

    • +1

Yeah it is super slow. I ran it through some tests, and saw about 12W max charging. During the last 5-10% of the charge, that slows down to just a few watts.

It's no issue to stop charging before it is at 100%. In fact, it is better for the cells if never charged above 90% and they will last a bit longer.

  • Yeah I pull all my power banks at 90% they seem to last longer
