First time posting this deal and thanks to previous deal posted on https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/809056 which is now expired. Hope this helps some of you folks who are looking to purchase the iPhone 15 Pro.

    • I didn't realise that officeworks price beat these sites. Jb hifi rejected the price beat last time.

      • +11

Yup, I just called the Officeworks around my location and found that one had it in stock. Went into the store and showed them the URL and floor manager was called who then approved the price beat. Not sure if JB Hifi only price matches but I know for a fact that Officeworks does beat the price by 5% and getting Flybuys points is an added bonus. Used the Ultimate Gift cards that I purchased previously for 15% discount; hence effectively got the iPhone 15 Pro 256GB for approx $1606

        • wow thats so good!

        • Can I please ask what store you went to if Sydney based?

          • @np: Sorry mate - I’m based in Melbourne and if it helps anyone; I went to the Mentone Officeworks.

          • +1

@np: Even if you go to the same store it can still be rejected if the staff is very strict. Depends a lot on luck.

  • +2

The mydeal item mentions a $14.95 shipping charge, I thought Officeworks would have included that in the pricebeat too?

Edit: nvm, didn't see the big free shipping note just below it!

I expect this colours to go on sale often as most people wants the natural titanium colour due to the fingerprints issue

    • Almost everyone use a case right…

      • Still an ugly finish for the price you pay

        • Yeah, I saw one the other day and literally thought it looked like a prototype aha

  • Will also depend on your luck who you get at officeworks. Some are very particular and need to show that it is Australian stock or have the same matching model number like MTV53ZP/A.

The one at Perth city the store manager is like that and will just say that if it doesn’t have the model number probably stock from China and not local and will not price beat.

Just doing the calculations: This is $1889.55 cash; Telstra are offering this for $159.21 extra, $2,048.76.
That price is on 0% monthly repayments for 3 years, and you can pick any phone you like.

To figure out the actual inflation-adjusted burden of that price on repayments, you can apply 1.5 year's inflation (10.5% for Jun 21 - Dec 22) to the offered outright price and compare it. $1889 and it becomes $2,079.81, which is higher than Telstra's offer.
    ( Calc: https://www.rba.gov.au/calculator/quarterDecimal.html )

In this inflationary environment, A 0% 3 year loan is a lot of free money. I'm not sure buying outright would ever make any sense for anyone if you have this level of inflation.

Even if you just put the same cash in a good bank account, and pay the repayments to Telstra from that principal. You should be able to earn ~8% total interest over the 3 year period, and have more financial flexibility.

If you have (a) any sort of loan (b) enough cash to want to get a good rate from a bank, you'd be financially nuts not to use this free credit.

The sim plan wouldn't be in the same price range though - If you sign a sim+phone contract the sim plan is normally $50+ per month. (Not a problem if your company would reimburse the sim plan cost)

    • +1

Can you get that without a plan though?

      • +1

Cheapest Telstra mobile plan appears to be $62 a month for 50GB 💀

Unless you use it as your main internet that’s absurd.

    • Well ever wondered a multi million dollar enterprise is giving out money interest free.
Are Telstra not nuts to lose money on the free credit they provide? Whats the catch?

They wanna onboard you at higher bill plans. My wife is with Telstra, we do a $300 annual recharge and since both home and her office has wifi, data is virtually not used! It gives free International calling too. Infact we can get all this with even cheaper MVNO provider but Telstra would give the free credit with higher plan value ( double than what she pays now) and no international calls in it!

Now see where the financials knowledge is!

  • God phone but always very nrvous holding and carrying such an expensive phone in my pocket knowing that one break will cost me close to $500 for a fix

    • That's what hole and contents insurance is for - bump it up to include the phone

      • +1

        Hole insurance sounds useful ;)

        • +1

And make sure you include all holes in the contract :)

    • apple care+
Screen or back glass damage $45
      Other accidental damage $149
      Theft or loss $229

      • $350 for the privilege of having a slightly cheaper phone repair IF it breaks. I missed the 30 day cut off to get this guess ill have to dip into the emergency fund if it breaks

  • Time to spend my 15% off celebration gift cards. Thanks OP.

    • Hi seanyoung,

Is the celebration gift card deal still going?

      Cheers.

No it was ~two weeks ago. But I think the deal will come back in the future?

Question - where's the best place to sell/trade an iPhone 15 Pro 256 if I don't want to deal with gumtree/Facebook etc? Just wondering as every time I post on private platforms it's scammers wasting my time and trying to get my details.

    • mobilemonster - price match with other site that has a higher buy price and they will beat +5%

      • -1

        trustworthy?

    • There was this one time I caught the very same guy that bought my iPhone then sold that phone on marketplace for $50 more than what I originally asked. Sent him an offer of exact amount he offered me. He replied that if I cannot afford it then go away, do not low ball him because his phone was fairly priced lol

I managed to get Apple price match to 1900 using the link https://au.webuy.com/product-detail?id=SAPPI15PR256GBKTUNLB

Best thing is to get price beat using OW to 1805 and pay using the UGC which brings it down to 1534. And claim GST if traveling overseas within next 60 days which brings it further down to 1370.

    • How do you get apple price match?

      • Just called the Tele sales team and asked for price match they did without asking much questions

        • Why down vote?

    • You can't bring it back to the country

      • Yes you can.

They will have to declare it when reentering, and may have to pay back the GST unless they can pool their $900 duty free allowance with others in their family travelling with them.

      • Actually you can bring upto 900 worth goods combined back into Australia.

I'm just wondering how they gonna check if it's the same phone I'm bringing back? Using IMEI?

        • This is what I'm wondering. Like what if I gave/sold the phone to somebody else, and they bring the phone back to AU. No way they'll be forced to pay back the GST?
