            Card was a gift so I wasn’t sure.
            was told when given the card it had a higher amount. So they must have purchased it with a deal similar to this one.

          I would say instore only, because:

          • Previous gift card deals at BIG W in the last few years have been restricted to instore only.

          • The BIG W online store currently does not sell gift cards. If you search "gift cards" on the BIG W website, you are greeted with a generic webpage telling you to go instore or Woolworths Group's gift card portal.

          We will know for certain at midnight AEDT when BIG W's catalogue is published onto BIG W's website.

              I do not recall in the last few years an instore gift card deal at BIG W being restricted to specific states/territories.

              Additionally, if you look at the upcoming BIG W catalogue that starts on Thursday, there is no mention anywhere of any BIG W stores being excluded (except for the BIG W online store).

              My guess is that your local store probably did not know about this deal when you asked them, because I suspect staff would not have been told about this deal until at least the catalogue went live (which was at midnight AEDT).

      i used 20 x $100 at good guys with Ultimate when Coles had it 10% off… girl at counter laughed… just make sure you pull the cards out and scratch it off for code etc, makes it easier.

      The Ultimate gift card website lists Freedom as a participating retailer for some Ultimate gift cards. However, I do not know what kind of redemption limits Freedom has on Ultimate gift cards or Freedom gift cards.

      The Ultimate gift card website does not list Harvey Norman as a participating retailer.

      Alternatively, you can also check the OzBargain FAQ for a list of participating retailers (although I only grab updates from the Ultimate gift cards 3-4 times a week, so by the time I do an update, a participating retailer could have been added or removed).

    Hi all, am I correct in assuming $100 is the largest denomination Ultimate gift card that they sell? I need to buy something worth $400 online at 99 Bikes but they only allow one gift card per transaction 🙁. I wonder if there’ll be anything for variable gift cards next week on BF?

      The largest denomination of Ultimate gift cards included in this deal is $100, but not all types of Ultimate gift cards are sold in $100 denominations. There are currently only two types of Ultimate gift cards including 99 Bikes as a participating retailer (Active & Wellness, Him), and those should be sold at BIG W in a $100 denomination.

      The upcoming deal at Woolworths includes the Ultimate Him gift card, but I have never seen a Woolworths stock a physical Ultimate Him gift card in a variable load denomination. (BIG W has them, but that is of little help for you.)

      99 Bikes should be able to accept multiple Ultimate gift cards in one instore transaction, but I assume that is of no help to you?

        Thanks Wookie, i think I was mistaken as I was under the assumption that they counted as a eGift card which 99 Bikes advised me i could only use one online (was hoping to use their $20 signup voucher).

        I imagine seeing as i enter the card details in the card details section though, i should be able to buy a few Active and Wellness cards from Big W and it should be sweet?

          Unfortunately, no.

          The Ultimate gift cards sold at BIG W operate on the Visa network, so they need to treated just like a Visa debit/credit/prepaid card you may have.

          I just attempted a purchase on the 99 Bikes website, but as soon as I chose Credit card on the payment screen, there was no option to split payments between four Visa cards (which is what you would need to do cover the cost of your $400 purchase using multiple Ultimate gift cards from this BIG W deal). If you tried to pay your $400 transaction using a $100 Ultimate gift card from this deal, Blackhawk Network (the Ultimate gift card issuer) would decline the payment attempt, due to 99 Bikes wanting to charge $400 to a Visa card with only $110 on it.

          The Ultimate gift cards in this deal can also be added to Apple Pay (and I saw Apple Pay as a payment option on the 99 Bikes checkout), but you will also face the issue of not being able to do split payments across multiple Visa cards when checking out using Apple Pay.

          The reason I mentioned going instore is that staff at the store can apparently split payments across multiple Visa cards, which means they can instruct their EFTPOS terminal to only try and charge $110 (or any other specific amount) to each Ultimate gift card you swipe (or tap) on the EFTPOS terminal.

      It was a change at the end of the 15% off Ultimate eGift card deal.

      It was previously possible during the initial couple of months of Ultimate (Visa) gift cards being introduced, but it was removed ahead of Black Friday 2021 and was only brought back recently.

        Just trying to not annoy hardworking JB staff!

          I think I’m wrong, they can’t be exchanged online for one large card. But perhaps I can take 5x $100 into JB and exchange for a $500, do that a couple times on a quiet day and pay with three $500 cards when I buy my phone to be…. slightly less annoying than 15 at once.

            @Rent a cynic: I would have thought going to a JB Hi-Fi store (at least) three times to purchase a JB Hi-Fi gift card using 5x Ultimate gift cards would be more hassle overall than redeeming 15x Ultimate gift cards in one go.

            • Not all staff members will let you purchase a gift card using an Ultimate gift card, so there is a chance you have to make four or five (or even more) visits before you get all the JB Hi-Fi gift cards you want.

            • Swiping 15x Ultimate gift cards in one transaction is honestly not that much of a hassle if you are already prepared when you get to the store (e.g. you take the gift cards out of the packaging, scratch to reveal PINs, note down the available balance on each gift card) and you choose to go to a store at a quieter time (which is what you want to do anyway). I would much rather make one slightly longer visit to JB Hi-Fi and redeem 15x Ultimate gift cards than make three (or four or more) visits to JB Hi-Fi just to purchase JB Hi-Fi gift cards, let alone the additional visit to actually purchase the item(s) in the end.

      i would go with apple GC bc there is a slight chance that apple would run the black fri shopping event like last yr (giving giftcard) and up the cashreward. More saving. Also, dealing with apple direct is probably easier if you have any issue. Last yr, i bought the iphone a week earlier and missed out on the black fri shopping event. I contacted apple and they were more than happy to send me the giftcard. Unless u want to buy old models that aren't sold at apple anymore. Then JB Hi-Fi. But watch out for the apple giftcard scam that's happening atm - people swapped out cards at woolies etc.

    So I purchased a $200 apple gift card today, however no point showed up on everyday rewards app. Not sure if it was a delay or error so I contacted support (which took a long time after many tries), and was told there was a “crediting error” and they agreed to give me an 4000 points this time as a goodwill gesture.

    So proceed with caution - the bonus points may not end up in your account unless you contact support which is definitely a big hassle.

    Just went to big w chermside and the manager claimed the bonus 10% credit hasn’t worked for them and they don’t know what the issue is. I have no idea if the people were trying to buy the choose your own value cards or what, but I’m hesitant to spend hundreds on cards and not get the credit. What have people done to ensure it works? Do the staff need to do anything special?

    Edit: spoke to the manager again and she said they weren’t trying to use variable cards and the issue has been logged.

      I checked while I was still in store, it shows $110.

      Also used a $30, which shows as 33$.

    Does anyone know if these cards can be used on conjunction with the 30% off annual playstation plus subscriptions tomorrow? I also can't see anywhere on the card or website that says that any of these cards can be used with PlayStation store.
