7% off in-Stock Tesla 2023 Model 3 (with Less than 50km on Odometer) from $55,360 + On-Road Cost @ Tesla

2970

Tesla, just dropped the price of an inventory Model 3 even lower, might be a good bargain to get before the:
stamp duty rebate https://www.revenue.nsw.gov.au/grants-schemes/electric-vehic…
and 3k ev grant ends: https://www.revenue.nsw.gov.au/grants-schemes/electric-vehic…
at the end of this year.
With the refresh model 3 2024 loosing the gear stalk and blinker stalk, this could become a high yield investment ;D

        • That's correct. The suspension is really bad and the inside of it definitely not premium.

The new refresh (62k) addresses some of those problems though.

      • +3

The chinese built ones are really good.

        They probably couldn't get worse…

    • name one please

      • BYD, And yeah, for a tag more, you could go for the base model Ioniq 6.

        • +6

68k for ioniq 6 is quite a bit more than tesla.

    • +17

Build quality has not been an issue since Australian deliveries shifted from the Fremont factory to the Shanghai one years ago.

Also thanks to rampant inflation, $60k is not what it used to be. Even a top spec Toyota Camry is over $50k these days. $60k for a car in this category is relatively normal.

        • +13

Who gave 60 billion of our dollars to companies that were making record profits and then had nothing to claw it back?

Libs (profanity) our country over for an entire generation, there never has been and hopefully never will be a bigger waste of taxpayer money in Aus.

          • +1

            @PotatoCakes: Agree
lets see what proponents of modern monetary theory got to say about printing money not causing inflation (or at the very least not contributing to it in a supply-side inflationary environment)

          • -5

            @PotatoCakes:

Libs (profanity) our country over for an entire generation,

Which generation specifically? Because in the most recent one, Australia has progressed to the wealthiest people on earth:
            https://www.afr.com/policy/economy/australians-are-the-world…

But in your head, despite living in the very best, most successful country, you're still claiming to be oppressed?

This truly is the age of entitlement…

            • +3

@1st-Amendment: Mate, where on earth did I say I was oppressed?

Apparently, speaking out against the actions of the government is now being entitled and crying opression??

You seriously need to take a breadth and realise that politcs isnt a sports game. Its ok to critize both sides and you should always demand your government acts better and responsibly.

….Maybe put down sky news for a month, you might actually feel better.

              • -3

                @PotatoCakes:

speaking out against the actions of the government is now being entitled and crying opression??

When you make comments like "Libs (profanity) our country over for an entire generation" it sounds exactly like that.

Maybe put down sky news for a month

I don't watch any media, but something tells me you you do…

"realise that politcs isnt a sports game"

Except when Sky News is the other team, then it's ok to treat it like a sports game?

you should always demand your government acts better and responsibly.

But you weren't doing that you were crying about an entire generation being screwed over when the fact is an entire generation has objectively it better than any other in history.

Let's dig deeper into this, which time would you prefer to be born into that you feel had it better than you?

                • @1st-Amendment: Throwing away 10s of billions to companies making record profit is a fact.

Its telling that at no point are you disagreeing or trying to dissprove how much of a (profanity) up handing out that much money was.

Calling out the biggest government (profanity) in Aus history is worth swearing about.

Sky News deliberating stokes cooker sentiment. Nothing wrong with being conservative and I support a healthy and diverse media landscape but again, pushing back against extremely biased organisations is not being against opposing views.

Your last statement is missing the point entirely.

Can I kick you in the nuts and take $10,000 from your bank account but then tell you to stop crying and you've got it better then any other generation?

                  • -1

Throwing away 10s of billions to companies making record profit is a fact.

                    No, that's an opinion.
I have no idea what you are actually talking about but the tone of this comment is pure opinion, 'throwing away 10s of billions' sounds like the sort of thing you'd find on Sky News or The Project, but it's suddenly ok when you're saying it? What's the rule here?

Sky News deliberating stokes cooker sentiment.

You seem to be doing the exact same thing here… What's the rule here?

Can I kick you in the nuts and take $10,000 from your bank account but then tell you to stop crying and you've got it better then any other generation?

Show me when this happened because this sounds like a Sky News headline… I'm sure the irony of this is lost on you…

Where is this entire generation of screwed people specifically?

                    • @1st-Amendment: "I have no idea what you are actually talking about…."

I guess i got my answer. I'll stop responding now because I can have more intelligent conversations with a brick wall.

Or does somebody on Youtube have to come up with it first so you can parrot it while also claiming to be an independent thinker

      • top spec Toyota Camry is over $50k

There is only a few people who's got enough brains to pay for top spec Camry. If you are paying $50k for any vehicle there is plenty of options.

      • +1

Agree, my model Y has been perfect build quality, was shocked that good spec Cx5 is over 50k these days

        • -1

Obviously you have never been in a German car.

@CowFrogHorse: You said I had never been in a German car and I replied the last one I owned was a German car for 10 years.
Not sure why you are so negative, cheer up a bit and post some comments that add value.

    • Name one, please.

    • Again someone never driven a tesla and doesn’t own one. Build quality is a past. Do you even own an electric car lol?

      • Do you even own an electric car lol?

Is this the new 'do you even lift bro?' flex comment?

        • Absolutely not. :)

I mean the guy makes a judgement because he sat in one car and I bet you that he's never driven one.

          • @sauce2k:

I mean the guy makes a judgement because he sat in one car

If you sit in a car and it feels cheap then you are quite entitled to hold that view. I also sat in a Tesla and it felt cheap and tacky to me.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it is possible that different people have different opinions on things.

            • @1st-Amendment: I think one needs to understand buying a tesla is tech > interior look.

What you said is fair for sure, to some interior > tech I guess…

              • @sauce2k:

understand buying a tesla is tech

To you maybe. To me and lots of other people something comfortable and practical that I don't have to think about spending hours 'refueling' is better.

                • @1st-Amendment: Yeah sure thing. Some people don’t like changes.
Charging is very convenient for me overnight or charge while at the gym. Save money and if you think about it unless you go on road trips, the chances are you are not going to spend much time charging your car while doing nothing.

                  • @sauce2k:

                    Some people don’t like changes.

Some people only change when the new thing is better for them. Some people struggle with this concept.

and if you think about it unless you go on road trips, the chances are you are not going to spend much time charging your car while doing nothing.

I go on road trips. I also tow a boat. When I go on road trips I see lots of others doing the similar things and none of them seem to have bought EVs.

Imagine a world where not everyone is you…

                    • @1st-Amendment: Good on you. I’m not imagine a world where not everyone is me. Sorry if I triggered you lol. Sure if I do that much road trips , towing boats I won’t buy a tesla :) happy now?

                      • @sauce2k:

                        Sorry if I triggered you

If offering opinion that differs from your own amounts to 'triggering' to you then I suspect you are the one being triggered here…

Sure if I do that much road trips

You only need to do one and you're out of luck. That seems pretty low tech to me.

          • @sauce2k: Dude, anyone can sit in a car and test drive it and form an opinion.

I did and I think Teslas are cheap interior overall for a $72k and $61k car. Even the steering wheel feels terrible. The sun visors are made of plastic bought from Daiso.

I don't mind it being uggo on the outside but interior needs to be a bit better. I think the refresh could be better but they removed the stalks…. :(

            • @Naigrabzo: Sure as the dude above said some prefers interior over everything else.

    • +2

You're stuck in 2019. Recent Teslas, especially those coming out of China have been of great quality out the factory.
Let's hear about those with significantly better build quality please?

      • have been of great quality out the factory

Just out of interest how do you measure this?

    • LOL, you have never even been in one to know have you? In comparison to what????

    • +3

Australian ones (made in China) don't have the same issues as the ones made in the US, unsure if your knowledge is anecdotal or not, but i know a bunch of people who have never had any issues with their Teslas

    • Yeah, I do love the Taycan build quality and paint. That paint job alone is worth the $160k.

  • +8

People in the know are holding off for the new much improved Highland model due early next year.

As much as I’m an Elon fanboy I would recommend NOT buying this car to save 5%. The new Model 3 is much improved incrementally all over the place with even better safety, rear screen, ventilated seats and more. It’s quieter, smoother, better suspension like a whole new model.

Visually the new model looks great, a timeless look I predict.

Plus the model will probably be $55K within 6 months as it’s cheaper to make.

    • +1

I bet the highland model will have a ton of issues. Best to wait for the next refresh. Personally waiting for LFP batteries.

      • +5

They're already LFP, got one a month ago.

        • +1

Yes Tesla went LFP for standard range/rwd in 2021 and then upped the battery size in 2022

        • I think Stopback means the new CATL M3P batteries rumored to be in the Model 3 highland (LFMP derivative). This new chemistry is supposed to have the reliability & safety of LFP and the energy density of NCM. However only time will tell….

      • Yeah some current owners in Europe are having quite a few issues with them

      • +1

Best to wait for the next refresh.

And what if the improved refresh has issues? What for the next improved refresh?

      • LFP can charge to 100% but slower to charge.

    • the new one is 61.9k old one is 10.5654% saving.

    • The old one is way better value and a better car. Old has indicator stalks and a nicer design. New model is a step backwards.

      • +4

It depends what you want. I guess if you have kids in the back they might love the touchscreen, but I think overall the new features are not worth paying 10% more at this current time.

        • I've got kids, had a new model on order and switched with the discount. Ended up deciding the screen with kids would be a net negative!

          • +1

@TrentBT: You can easily install secondary screen.

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKw_dlYqdy4

And even some basic ambient lights.

            Can't do suspension though.

            • @Naigrabzo: The suspension is a tad firm compared to my last car but don't notice it. Good info for the DIY. If i got that desperate I think ill just get them an ozb tablet

      • Better car because you need indicator stalks? Amazing how people can get hooked onto one item and completely disregard what's upgraded, including 50% new parts on the car, more efficient, better ride, etc, etc. Universally praised by motor journos as better than the old model.

        • +2

The ventilated seats on the new one is also pretty nice

        • I’d prefer indicator stalks than the rest of the upgraded guff.

        • +3

I don't think it's a small issue. Surely performing a quick three-point turn while changing gears on the touchscreen (or on the roof!) is a usability nightmare.

          • @dazweeja: Imagine if you had to do a 7 point turn…. hahahaha.

You'd need to get a 3rd party stalk for sure. Then that stalk will be bluetooth and sometimes will disconnect…. :)

            • @Naigrabzo: Yeah, such a dumb decision, presumably just so the controls can seem more "minimalist".

              • +1

@dazweeja: Nah man. It's cost cutting. Tesla are ruthless with it.

They were pioneering in removing instrument cluster also.

Risk taking is good but sometimes it goes too far. At least it's not a yoke steering wheel.

    • +10

Visually the new model looks great, a timeless look I predict.

Timeless? Settle down. This ain’t no model T Ford.

Just about all electric cars are white-goods now. About as exciting to look at as your fridge.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m 100% onboard with electric cars. But as far as design goes? Nahhh.

      • +10

I like to call it, the California Camry

        • It's just a Camry at this point. I don't think it has California quality especially on the interior.

      • -2

Design isn’t timeless. Nothing dates a car more than it’s infotainment screen. And it’s all screen baby.

        • -1

If you need a screen to watch in a car, you are driving too much - get a life.

          • @CowFrogHorse:

If you need a screen to watch in a car, you are driving too much - get a life.

The screen is the driving instruments. Have you ever seen a new car?

            • @1st-Amendment: Maybe you cant read but the post i replied said infotainment… maybe its me but i dont consider watching the instruments like the speedo as entertainment. Then again if you do i pity your lifestyle choices.

              • @CowFrogHorse:

maybe its me but i dont consider watching the instruments like the speedo

But it's still a screen yeah? A screen that you are watching while driving?

                • @1st-Amendment: So what if it is a screen ?

Is a speedo entertainment ? I guess since you didnt refute that statement you must think that it is..

                  • @CowFrogHorse:

So what if it is a screen ?

Screens date. That is the point. The context of this thread is 'timeless design', but nothing is timeless, even classic analog technology dated, hence why it got replaced at some point. Some old designs come back into fashion, but that doesn't make them 'timeless', and I've never seen this happen with digital screens, have you? We've had these things for about 30 years now and not a single one lasted more than a few years.
Do you have a digital screen of any kind that you would consider 'timeless'?

                    • @1st-Amendment: For the second time - my comment was clearly about screens in cars as a form of entertainment i have mentioned this several times now.

I never mentioned or commented about any timeless aspect of any car screen.

Do you have a digital screen of any kind that you would consider 'timeless'?

i dont care, i have better things to do with my life than sit in a car and worry about whether a screen is timeless. I also dont rate whether modern toilet paper is timeless either.

                      • @CowFrogHorse:

i have better things to do with my life than sit in a car and worry about whether a screen is timeless.

Yet you can spend hours on the internet looking at a screen talking about it…

      • How about less polarising?

        Less liable to be criticised.

        Pleasant to look at.

        You know, timeless.

        • The shape is just for aerodynamics. It will not change in a hurry unless batteries miraculously become amazing.

    • -1

" quieter, smoother, better suspension " will second that. The older model is noisy (excessive tyre and wind noise) and not that comfortable on our roads.

      • The 2019 was much louder than the 2022 / 2023 model. if you go with 18 inch wheels it's pretty good.

    • Wait for the front bumper camera. The new Tesla vision is rubbish. Or buy one with ultrasonic sensor.

      • The one for sale still has ultrasonic sensors. You're thinking about the replacement that is more expensive than this one.

    • I love the new design, but i am sad about the lack of turn signal stalks

    • Visually the new model looks great, a timeless look I predict.

Did you also pre-order a cyberturd?

      • Cyber truck is vaporware for Australia.

    • Yup goto love the care he takes for his workers especially those that sue him for all his care or his how many wives is that now ?

  • Blinker stalk being removed?
    Activate inductors how?

    • +15

      Hand signal

    • +3

It's touch sensitive buttons on this steering wheel now, which I think is kind of silly

    • +1

      button on the steering wheel.

    • +2

Unfortunately yes, and the worst part is they are not positioned horizontally, but vertically so you need to think about where it is

    • -3

Apparently TVs and phones used to have rotary dials, we moved on from those too.

      • +1

There are a few videos of people describing the issues with the indicators on a steering wheel.

  • Only 1 available at that price? Don't think that warrants a posting on Ozbargain.

    • Tesla shows that there's only one but it's been there for awhile. I think they're just trying to hide how much excess Stock they have.

      • If it's truly only one, then it should disappear by end of day right? :D

      • +1

OK let us know when you've ordered it so we can see if it disappears from that page.

        • I'm not going to order one, but I know someone who did order today, and it didn't disappear from the page.

      • +2

Or, it’s a selling technique to encourage potential buyers to jump in quick.

        • +1

I suspect it's a mix of both. But given they have almost every colour and interior combination on that inventory list, I suspect they have a lot more. Another thing that gives it away is if you visit a Tesla dealership, They have a lot of new cars in the parking lot, but one year ago it was almost empty.

  • Be careful if you are thinking about trade in with tesla. They are thief. I got mine tesla x quoted 68k from tesla. went to mercedes and easily got 90k without any negotiation, when to audi and got 89k, 92k from volvo.
sale man tried to persuade me to "upgrade" from my tesla x to tesla y, saying that the new y won't come out until 2028 =))))

    • +3

Do you have to buy a bmw to be able to get that 90k trade in price? Or a Volvo to get that 92k trade in price ?

      • You know it will have been, trade in is one side of the transaction.
