I finally got approved yesterday and it was a little over 2 month process

        Never again

      • +1

right, the process used to be rubbish in my last few applications but recent was pretty easy the other day (couldn't resist the temptation in the end).
Approved within 24 hours without any email/phone call in between. Surprised. No other cards like that in my history, except VirginMoney.

  • Do NAB still do pro-rata annual fees ?

    • +3

They no longer do. I asked chat in June

    • I was told they don't do it anymore for the one I had (NAB "Qantas" Rewards Signature). You may wanna ask them for this one.

      • +1

Okay deal but nothing exciting. Should just say 150000 points since nobody in their right mind should stick around for the 2nd year

We may receive a commission if you apply for this offer.

We may will receive a commission if you apply for this offer.

FTFY. If you weren't receiving a commission, you wouldn't be posting "this exclusive offer which is only available through The Champagne Mile", right?

    • Hi there, we don't receive a commission unless an application is approved. No commission is provided to us when someone applies and is declined. I hope that clarifiers things.

      • That's not any better, really. Your original disclaimer in this post (and on your website) is still misleading however you look at it.

        You've stated in this post:

"We may receive a commission if you apply for this offer."

It says nothing about whether the application is successful or not. And on your website for the link you've posted it states twice that you "may" receive a commission if someone applies for the offer and only once that you'll receive it if someone applies and is approved (which I'm sure was very quickly just updated on your website today since no other card offers you've got on your site mention anything relating to "approved applications only" receive a commission).

Even in your own terms it says:

7.4 The Champagne Mile receives a commission of between $40 and $200 when you apply for a credit or debit card using an outbound link published on this website.

Bottom line: it's in black and white that you clearly receive a commission when someone applies for a credit or debit card using one of your referral links. Just be honest about it and stop using language like "may" rather than "will" because it's clear that you get a commission on every application. It may not be the same $ kickback on a declined application over an approved one, but you're getting paid for each application regardless of the outcome of that application.

Hi, the commercial relationships we hold with different advertisers vary. These days, is very rare for card providers to pay out commissions on consumer card applications (rather than approvals).

The disclaimer we've used here (and on the post, which hasn't been updated since the offer went live) accurately reflects the commercial arrangements we hold for this offer. That is to say, we receive a commission when someone applies and is subsequently approved for the card, but we receive $0 when someone applies and is declined. Stating that we get paid for each application would not be correct.

Appreciate the terms you call out state we receive a blanket commission on all applications. We'll address this in our next round of terms revisions to reflect that a commission "may" be provided, depending on the card provider.

          • @The Champagne Mile:

These days, is very rare for card providers to pay out commissions on consumer card applications (rather than approvals).

Just because it's rare, doesn't mean it isn't happening. Which seems to be entirely the case here given you've got the same line on every one of your card reviews that you'll get a commission when someone applies. Except, for only one sentence where it's stated differently - on this particular offer.

The disclaimer we've used here (and on the post, which hasn't been updated since the offer went live) accurately reflects the commercial arrangements we hold for this offer.

Except, they don't accurately reflect anything because you've got two conflicting statements, which I pointed out in my earlier comment.

We'll address this in our next round of terms revisions to reflect that a commission "may" be provided, depending on the card provider.

Are you implying that for 4 and a half years, no one has bothered to update your terms? Because clause 7 of your terms in 2019 is identical to clause 7 of your terms in 2023. Which indicates "The Champagne Mile receives a commission of between $40 and $200 when you apply for a credit or debit card using an outbound link published on this website." Again - it's very black and white, and it has been for many years. And I can't see your legal team/advisor signing off on those terms if they weren't accurate.

            So

            • how can the offer not be inaccurate when it has conflicting information, and,
            • why has it been stated for over 4 years the exact opposite of what you're trying to state here?
            • +1

@KangaDrew: 4.5 years without updating a policy reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally isn't all that unusual in small business, government, large business….

              • @Ademos: Ordinarily, I would agree. But it's not just their terms that haven't been updated though. All of their current offers state the same thing (which is inline with their 4.5 year old terms). They're talking out of both sides of their mouth.

                • @KangaDrew: Its fair to ask them to update the policy to reflect communicated reality. I just thing its a spot of incompetence rather than a conspiracy in this instance. We'll see if they update it shortly!

                  • -1

@Ademos: Incompetence could only be the case if it weren't for them posting loads of reviews and new offers (with affiliate links) that all state the same as what's in their terms. Funnily enough, OP has gone quiet lol

  • +1

I moved from Platinum to Signature because the bank staff told me about these points that i should be eligible. I've never received them.

  • How easy is it to redeem velocity points compared to Qantas?

What's OB transfer rate between velocity and FF?

  • So still about $550 flybuys dollars profit just for first year application?

  • +3

The Virgin money is a better ROI than this if chasing velocity + 30k bonus points for minimal outlay

  • I am looking to get my very first credit card in Australia, after all is it a good credit card for a day to day use (including the 200k bonus points)?
