Pixel 8 128GB $698, 256GB $798, 8 Pro 128GB $998, 256GB $1098, 512GB $1298 after $300 Trade-in Credit @ JB Hi-Fi

2463

I think this was an oversight from JB Hi Fi when they went early on the Black Friday discount to match Officeworks.

This offer expires midnight tonight (16th November) - get an additional $300 off Pixel 8/8 Pro with trade in.

https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/google-pixel-8-pro-5g-128…

JB offers $1 trade-in for the Galaxy Watch 42mm which unlocks the $300 credit offer. You will receive a $1 e-gift card and the $300 credit voucher which you can use to purchase the phone in store or online. Start trade in here: https://jbhifi.squaretradeup.com.au

Post purchasing the phone - Don't send the watch for trade in and cop the $1 fee for not trading in OR contact SquareTrade and tell them you do not want to proceed and they will cancel the trade-in.

Of course you can also trade in any phone/tablet and use the trade-in value of that stacked with the $300 bonus to reduce the price even more.

With the Black Friday price + trade in bonus = approximate 40% off RRP across the entire range.

Thank you OP for the post! Much appreciated!

    Got one, thanks buddy!

  • "If our Returns Centre does not receive your device(s) within 14 days, we will charge the pre-authorised hold on your account for the equal trade-in value offered for your order."

How much pre-authorised hold is showing on your credit card account?

    • $1 for me using my ING Visa Debit card.

  • Can someone please confirm if I can trade-in my P8 and get a $300 bonus to buy the P8 Pro?

    • +1

      Yes you can.

They accept Pixel 8 as trade in

They are offering $690 for pixel 8 128gb, so with the $300 bonus you are getting $990 for it.

You can even make a profit in JB gift cards if you were to trade it in to buy another Pixel 8.

      • thanks I emailed them,. My worry is I already got a bonus coupon for the pre-order last month. Not sure if that's related and they only give 1x $300 per person haha

      • Ok I see what you mean.

        $840 for trade-in of 256GB P8.
        Then $300 coupon.
        So $998-300 (coupon first)-voucher of $698.

I have $142 left in jb GC

  • Sorry for the noob question - can you do 2x trade-ins for $600 off?

    • nah the fine print at the bottom seems to suggest you can only use the coupon once on an item.

      Can't stack

      • Thank you, you are right- I missed the Limit 1 coupon bit.

  • ah ffs, I can't do the trade-in as my previous trade-in (although received by them 3weeks ago) has not been completed.
Argh what's taking them so long.

    • Did they charge you/refund the authorisation charge?

Maybe send them something on their contact us page

      https://jbhifi.squaretradeup.com.au/contact-us

      • yeah the auth has already been removed ages ago.
It's just they've sat on it for 3weeks.
I've sent an email but assuming they are in sydney or melbourne, probably done for the day so gonna miss out on the deal argh

        • You can always sign up with a different email/phone number.

          • @CodeXD: i'm not sure it's worth risking coz they use riskified. It's already created a new order number dated today but no status

It will probably get flagged i'm trying to trade in for the same device with the same person but different email. Might cause more issues.

  • Got a P8Pro for $998 and get to keep my 4A as a backup work phone, very pleased, thanks OP!

  • ive just done the trade in and got the email of coupons.

when I click the coupon it says ' a coupon has already been assigned to this order '

    what have I done wrong?

    • i'm getting the same thing, just for the pixel offer. The other links seem to work :(
      did you figure it out?

  • +1

    Bit the bullet!

    P8P 256GB original price: $1799
    Minus $401: $1398
Minus $300 from this deal: $1098
Price match + additional discount to make up for the better Officeworks trade in offer = $98: $1000
    90 min delivery: $10.99

    $1010.99

Paid remaining using discounted gift cards, cost me approx $836.

Have about $1100 Google Store credit that I'll use to offset this payment (i.e. buy and sell to someone else)
My P6P 256GB should sell for around $400 hopefully.

Not bad for a $1799 month old phone lol.

    Thanks OP!

    • So JB reduced the price from $1398 to $1300 ?

    • what colour you got, I see that bay 256gb p8p is OOS

    • hey mate, how did the discount work. Did you get another gift card or voucher code for the $98? or did they just add to cart for you for a lower price?

      • Added to cart at $1300

        • damn looks like i miss out.

Just went online and no chat feature. I did a help request and it's sent me email confirmation so probs wont be answered till tomorrow

    • Damn lucky you. Did you do it in-store? I tried it online but was unsuccessful.

      • +1

        was busy lol

    • Noooo! I already bought 10 phones before seeing your post! /s

      • should sell them all and then buy an iPhone

  • Under the * How do I get my Bonus Coupon during the promotional period? * of the FAQ section it is saying that "Trade-in orders cancelled during Coupon Promo, will be charged the full Trade-in value of the JB Credit eGift Card on their nominated Credit Card, regardless if the JB Credit eGift Card has not been used." is that not worrying to anyone else that they will also deduct 300 dollars more out of your card if you don't send in an item or am I just miss reading it?

    • +1

will be charged the full Trade-in value of the JB Credit eGift Card on their nominated Credit Card

$300 voucher is neither part of the trade in value amount nor an egift card

      • Thank you, I read it a couple of times and through I wasn't understanding it correctly

  • +1

it's an attractive deal, thanks OP. i traded in my iphone 8 for an $70 eGift card and the $300 coupon code, and place an order online so i could pick up from nearst JB Hi-Fi store, but later found out my order has been cancelled because some verification issue. i am ok with this, but i couldn't place new order as the codes are "redeemed". i have receive email respond to the cancelled order, but they didn't answer my request of release or re issue me new codes. I have submitted help/service ticket, hope they could fix this for me. Should have purchase in store.. well..

    • +1

ask them they will honour the final price that you paid provided that verification doesn't throw up anything bad

  • -1

Do we think Google will have a better deal tomorrow?

    • +1

You can always buy this today, don't open it and wait to see what Google's deal is tomorrow.

    • Super unlikely

  • Bought one, click and collect worked fine.
    1098$ for the 256GB.

I'll see what happens with the $1 gift card I didn't use.

    3.5mm jack No

    Into the trash it goes.

    • +1

So what is your phone of choice with 3.5mm jack?

      • Still looking, seems like most of the market is disposable junk these days.

        • ASUS ROG phone 7

One of the few high end phones with a 3.5mm jack.

The drawbacks for me are that the camera should be better at this price point and VoLTE and VoWiFi support is iffy.

          • @Mugsy:

VoLTE and VoWiFi support is iffy.

That pretty much makes it a non-starter given we're losing 3G on all carriers in the next 10 months…

It does look like a decent bit of hardware in many respects though, at least compared to what else is out there.

    • +3

Can't understand why there's any reason to not have a 3.5mm jack these days - except unless the phones are waterproof and that's going to compromise it. Sometimes wired headphones are just easier.

      • +1

My last 2 phones have had 3.5mm jacks and are water proof enough for me - can use in rain/shower/drop in water and they've survived, the DAC too!

I doubt it even saves the manufactures a few cents per unit, i'd bet it's almost entirely to force users to buy disposable bluetooth earbuds.

  • I've been waiting 1hr 30 for the jb hifi chat fella to talk to me. been in queue 1 for so long

    • ah yep can confirm they end at 6pm melbourne time. we both gonna miss out nooo

Thanks for the recc. JB Pixel 8 pro 256G for $1398
As per another user I priced match OW Pixel 8 pro 256G for $1377
Traded in a smashed up Pixel 6 pro for $28
Asked if JB would honour the OW $400 trade-in, they did - down to $997
Used the nab pay-later deal that's on currently ($50 cashback for $400 spend)
Plus the 10% bonus value on Ultimate GC at Big W that started today ($550 value for $500)

    Not bad in the end.

  • Thank you for this! got a Pixel 8 128gb for $505 after trading in an s20+ and using discount e-gift cards. 58% off RRP!

    • +4

not really 58% off. cannot completely discount the value of the s20+

      • fair call. the s20 was a gift so anything made from it is a bonus. minus the s20 value, its 44% off RRP :)

  • Thanks! Was waiting for the Pixel 7 to drop in price during BF. This is way better!

  • Traded in my old Pixel 6 Pro including trade-in bonus coupon gave me $580 of credit, bought a Pixel 8 Pro 25GB for $797 with Price matched against Officeworks, then going overseas within 60 days so getting TRS refund of $97 so after all the calculation, it cost $699 for me to get Pixel 8 Pro 256GB

  • I just did the trade in, but my email from JB only has discount coupons for Samsung phones not the listed coupon. Did anyone else have a similar issue?

    • my email has the pixel offer image but i'm getting "A coupon has already been assigned with this order" after clicking it :(

      • After you click the image, you should receive an email with the pixel code. Check junk mail.

        • I received the email with the coupons, they are just all for Samsung products and nothing for the Pixel.

        • -2

they might have run out of codes. I got the message the first time i clicked it.
I tried a few Samsung links and they worked fine.

    • Wow. Same here. I just did it and it sent me random Samsung coupon offers, no pixel offer!

      • Latest from Support. They said the promo expired at 10pm Nov 16. I can’t see how that was clear anywhere. Unless someone has the T&Cs (still should have been clearer if not shady)

        • Yeah, disappointing. Support told me the same and they can't issue a coupon.

Fairly confident it wasn't mentioned anywhere that it was ending 10pm. Only said Nov 16, unless I missed something.

Would have done it earlier in the day but had to run a few errands + decided really last minute that I was going to move from the P8 to the P8Pro.

    • yep same issue, RIP :(

  • Same here does that mean we're just out of luck then? How do I cancel the phone return if that's the case?

  • If you check the URL from the email it lists the trade in order number and an access token. Part of that url says "tile=" does anyone with a pixel link happen to know what tile number the URL has?

    • +1

  • How long does it take for the $300 gift card to arrive once you have submitted the trade in?

    • +1

It's pretty instant. Got mine in a matter of minutes.

      • +1

Yeah thanks, looks like I was too late and got the Samsung offers :(

  • I went through all the trouble of getting the $300 coupon from squaretrade, ordered a p8p from jb website at 10pm.
When I finally entered my payment details the website just hung and then a few minutes later I got an email saying
"Unfortunately, your recent order of $998.00 has failed our verification process and been cancelled." (I think the website was having problems last night everything took ages to load.)
So I went back to try again and the coupon has now been "used". Wtf!
Chat was closed so I emailed support and said I hope jb will honour the coupon today.. But I don't like my chances

    • Did you manage to order today?

      • Nope. I chatted to JB in the morning and they said it's with 'verification team' so I should wait for an email.
Email arrived about 5pm which was just a copy/paste of the FAQ section 'Why was my order cancelled'.
I emailed back saying, OK but what about my consumed coupon! No reply yet.
I got back on chat again (30min waiting in queue), told them what happened, and they said, yeah you have to sort it out with this 'verification team' again.
        FFS!

        • In short, they don't want to sell the product to you as it failed some kind of verification? This is kinda crazy.

Were you trading in a phone? Or using the watch trick listed in this thread?

        • +3

Happy ending. They eventually gave me a replacement $300 coupon after several emails and I got the p8p pro for $977.
          Kudos to JB

  • Do they accept phones with broken display for Trade in?
For ex. if i select Iphone 7 for trade in, it doesn't ask if phone is working or any damage, straight away shows trade in price as $12

  • I tried to get the trade in credit more than 20 times but failed to get it. Always has the same issue when loading my driving license as photo. Very disappointing

  • +1

Congratulations to everyone who got one. Google store came out today and didn't look particularly fantastic

    • -1

      I'm underwhelmed by this p8p
Touchscreen sensitivity flaky with some missed taps
      Fingerprint reader also pretty flaky
The double tap on the back for screenshot is a joke
      Scrolling is a bit jerky
      Battery life is meh
Camera is nice, but uses heaps of battery

Honestly I'm feeling a bit regretful of this purchase

  • Guys any thoughts/recommendations on cases?

Currently eyeing the official Google case and the Cyrill ultra color.

Had the official case from Google on my p6p, but it didn't last long due to yellowing. Wondering if I should go with Google again or not..?

    • +3

dbrand grip, best case ive used

      • I got an OtterBox. Waiting for a flip case from Amazon. Otter case well built but quite large and bulky.

  • Can anyone advise what the Samsung trade in coupon codes are?

I'm considering the Galaxy S23 FE if I can get a decent amount knocked off the current $999 sale price.

  • +1

Email reply from Square this morning:

    ==============
    Hello, <redacted>
    Your order item <redacted>
    Order amount: $1

    Thank you for contacting us.
We have cancelled your order, including cancelling the JB Hi-Fi Trade-in Credit.

Your credit card details (token) have been released, and no credit card details are held.

    ===============

    Nothing to worry about.

    • Same here. No fuss at all.
I'm still confident I did see changed conditions earlier. I suspect they realised it was not enforceable and had to withdraw it. Will be interesting to see if they can make it stick in future. It's not like anyone would actually bother trading a device in for just the $1 without the bonus.

    • +1

      Same here.
Also they said they don't keep credit card details.
I asked about all the other details and ID scan, face video, etc. They said they have to keep that due to the pawnbrokers legal act. I thought that's strange considering the device was never sent to them.
Just another juicy target for hackers. I think the government needs to get more serious about identity theft and change this law. Perhaps businesses could send the data to a super secure central holding system provided by the gov instead of holding it themselves. Or something along those lines

  • +1

Had my credit card come a day earlier, I would have been in the Google Pixel 8 Pro camp rather than S23 Ultra camp.

  • Pixel 8 pro is now listed for $1377 for 256GB in JB and top of it JB is offering a $100 gift card for a short time. I tried walking into the store and asked for price match as I bought mine only last Thursday but the manager knocked it back

    • +1

      thats a bit bs.
I used to work at JB and we did this for people all the time (usually within 14 days of a purchase).

Yes its up to the managers discretion, that store must just have a shitty manager.

      • +1

Agree, probably shitty manager. I got money back from my local JB when I got jbl soundbar 2 weeks ago. 4 days later was 20% off. Got it all back.
Perhaps try online chat and see what they can do. Or perhaps able to just say you return it otherwise as not completely happy with it but would keep it for lower price? Not sure about return policy on phones.
