Asus Chromebook CM34 Flip Ryzen 5 8/256GB FHD Touch $547 + Delivery ($0 to Metro/ C&C/ in-Store) @ Officeworks

70

Come across this one after being underwhelmed by JB Hi-fi's offerings.

Decent price for a relatively new release.

Strangely, the Lower spec Ryzen 3 with 8/128 is priced at $697.

Meanwhile the much lower spec CM14 with a MediaTek chip is selling at the same price $547.

Either it's a pricing error or they're price matching somewhere else.

This one is classed as a Chromebook Plus.

Buy in store using Ultimate Gift Cards to bring it down to $497 (with $3 left on the last GC).

The Chrome browser usually uses 16GB of RAM on my desktop.

    how much is this normally?

    Reasonable I/O (2x USB-C, 1x-USB-A full-size HDMI, headphone, microSD).

    Alright screen.

But a used Thinkpad is so much better.

Be warned, it is heavy, around 4 pound, which is 1.8kg.

  • Does this has touch screen? It is FLIP but it doesn't touch ….

    • It's in the title

  • Bought it yesterday and just returned it now.. so if u r looking for one and around Westmead NSW Officeworks then you might be able to get it. Nothing wrong with it, just was a bit heavy for wifey. Specs wise it's pretty good. I am a specs guy, wifey on the other hand, is all about aesthetics.

    • Is the box still sealed? Or they let you to return after trying it out.

      • We had already opened the box, but hadn't setup anything. Felt quite heavy and returned straight away. They ask if u have turned on and set it up. They might still take it back if u have, but not sure.

  • Turns out this either was a completely 'unmarked' sale or a pricing error which lasted days! Listed priced on Officeworks is now $897 :(

Not such good value at almost $900

The mentioned Ryzen 3 model with 8GB RAM is listed on Bestbuy (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-14-2-in-1-chromebook-plus-…) at $USD 299 (although the 'standard' price is $USD 499, apparently it is almost always $USD 299)

    • Most likely just Black Friday Sale: this one (https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/hp-chromeb…) also went from $37x to $700

    • A lot of Chromebooks were half priced both at jb and Officeworks, so don't think it was pricing error. But yes, not worth the full price. Yes, it is powerful, but too heavy and design is not sleek enough to be considered a premium.
