      You say HODL I will [impulsively] HODL

      The SER7 (Ryzen 7 7840HS with 780M GPU) is on sale for $818.30 - also the cheapest it's been
      https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0C6FFSBKK?smid=A2WUY7AF2XNFT0&…

      • I might be wrong but Im pretty sure it's around 790 last week as I was looking at this one closely

        • Mustn't have been on Amazon, 3xCamel didn't show that price

          • @Tater: ah you're right. That's the 7735H, which is now $720.

            • @akafinal: Funny how the one with no SSD is more expensive that the one WITH SSD

    • how about Intel Arc 770M about on average about x3 the performance of 780M with Intel NUC RNUC12SNKI72 which can be found for about $959 (on ebay with coupon that expires today) to $999 other stores though needs ram/ssd purchased separately

      salivating because intel tends to be better for hypervisors and NUC reputable with better warranty but like everything need more money

      • +1

        Nuc 12 enthusiast barebones is also $899 from Centrecom

        • was looking at $2 more expensive at jw_computers ebay store with 6% discounted gift card, don't think either centrecom or jw have the assassins creed mirage promotion

          might go cheaper if computer alliance has 20-22% off ebay coupon stack with 6% gift card probably closer to $850 with assassins creed mirage promo

      • Intel NUC with similar RAM/SSD to the one I posted works out to be close to double the price of a Beelink or similar, so is it really a deal?
        But I agree the performance is there.

          this was directed towards the 780M comment cheapest it's been $818, currently minisforum cheapest $999 black friday promo

          intel nuc 12 enthusiast barebones supports DDR4 & DDR5L was thinking about it differently have x2 32GB (64GB) sticks for $150 from this deal currently $115 on ebay for single 32gb stick, DDR4 seems good enough quick search $150 for 32gb 4800mhz stick (would prefer 16Gb dual channel)

          500GB SSD anywhere between $70-100 (i have 2TB 980 Pro from $170 deal)

          $820 vs $1050-1200 depending on patience and slight variation in spec

          really depends, intel has a lot better quality, warranty 3 years (vs 1yr - 3rd party amazon many have complained about), reliability, driver support EOL think is 2027

          reckon the premium is worth it, but depends on what your looking for, i've been searching for something to run 24/7 with multiple VM's

          • @mantra: Problem with Intel NUC is the CPU just sucks compared to AMD, and of course it is way more expensive for the full spec.

  • That teal cyan is pretty glaring after the more muted onslaught of Beelink Mini PC posts each week

    SER6 Max cheaper than the last SER6 Pro post!

  • +1

    SER5 MAX also a good price today. 5800H 16GB DDR4 500G

  • So many options. How do I pick the right Beelink product for my needs with sufficient oomph at lowest cost?
    * MAME Arcade - 80s to mid 90s, N64 emu etc
    * 4K video to TV, eg, VLC
    * Home File Server; Custom IoT data capture
    * SILENT operation
    * Lifetime 5-8 years
    * Very low power draw at wall socket when not in use

    • +1

      im salivating over RNUC12SNKI72 for $950 cause with proxmox could seperate everything in multiple VM's

      everything listed below is mostly from assumptions, im no expert in proxmox or intel, so please do further research if considering it — my idea is directed towards recent AAA gaming

      • passthrough A770M dGPU over HDMI direct to TV for gaming (overkill for MAME)
      • passthrough XE 96CU iGPU to linux server handling jellyfin/plex server for network streaming/encoding with quicksync while linked to second HDMI for direct link to TV with suitable GUI and bluetooth or other media control USB dongle passthrough direct into this VM set to automatically launch GUI dedicated to media consumption
      • seperate linux VM or containers for smart home, guafana/influxDB, file server, etc…
      • lower power settings in bios, limit CPU cores available to VM's in proxmox should keep device quiet
      • it's intel so better quality, warranty and local stock, 3 years warranty and EOL for driver support etc i think is 2027
      • intel has P efficiency cores when idle/low activity, AMD more efficient while in heavy activity

      intel has closed their nuc division and handed it over to ASUS so support maybe by them

      • Oh wow, that does sound mint. I'm also after something very similar for proxmox hypervisor dgpu/igpu passthrough, but no idea where to start.
        What other models should I make ozb search alerts for?

        I saw your comment above with the coupon that expires today, should I bite the bullet or is there something else worth waiting for?

        • +1

          you have some time to think about it cheaper at centrecom hopefully won't expire today

          make sure to do more research than rely on what i've said but confident intel far better for both virtualisation and 24/7 usage

          deals posted here tend to be off brand chinese mini pc's probably work okay but GPU requires modifying bios intel has it's own quirks instructions here you might be able to pass through eGPU via thunderbolt 3/4 and USB 4 mini pc's which support it

          i'm not aware of any other nuc's or mini pc's with both dgpu/igpu except Intel NUC 12 Extreme Kit which is bulkier but has dual ethernet and can choose any GPU that'll fit about $300 more expensive then factor in GPU purchase as no internal A770M

          • @mantra: Thanks for the quality information. Both the NUC and the SER7 look pretty good. Wouldn't mind trying out an osx vm using the proxmox method from hsve.org as well.
