Can anyone reconmend another tablet that would be semi future proof with the main usage just YouTube and surfing internet? The 4gb of ram is a bit worrying

    • +3

got my Mom Lenovo tab P11 2nd gen with pen.. she doesnt use the pen but yeah she's glued to the tablet now and in my limited time of use it was fast/smooth enough..

    • +3

There's the 8/128gb version of this… But its about $100 more (after using the same code above).

      • +2

Yeah $347. seems almost worth it, if not for the updates an S6 lite or S7 FE would be great

      • +1

Thanks, I bought the 8/128GB version for tech gumby family. If nothing else, it should prevent it from being a 2yr throw away device and it should reduce how often I need to clean up after their mismanagement.

    • +5

I bought the A9 8" version and really happy with it.

Screen id decently bright. It's pretty snappy, compared to my A7 lite.

4GB RAM seems to be enough for youtube and web browsing.

      • Yeah, I have the A8 that I think came for free with my S22 or something, and even though it's slow to open and switch between apps, it has no issues when I'm watching youtube, netflix, etc.

  • FNQ excluded :(

    • Yeah for 2x or 3x more I wouldn’t expect anything less from it 😂
      And no I didn’t neg you 😬

      Do you agree ?

Apple fan boy asking all the right questions here

    • +2

Yep and is by far a better tablet. Spend the extra and get an ipad/s9 fe

    • When buying Samsung A series on special there is potential for profit. Sold my A8 10.5 LTE last week on ebay for $360 for more than i paid for it 18 months ago.

    • Actually if you buy stocks or property the value will likely go up more than iPad.

      Do you agree?

  • Should have got this over the Lenovo M10+

  • +1

These aren't great if the a8 5g is anything to go by. Slow sluggish and Samsung won't even allow them to be traded in.

    • +1

This has Snapdragon 695 so should be snappy

      • I would still be cautious. Go off someone's first hand experience with this tablet.
I would go for a s9 Fe or iPad over this…
If this for the kids fine I guess. But with the a8 even then it annoyed me as it takes over a minute or 2 to turn on. Just was not a good experience.

Is this a super good deal? What are the usual prices for anyone that's been in the market for one recently?

  • +3

    TFT LCD hmmm

    • my thoughts exactly..

    • +1

      Display: TFT LCD, 90Hz

A TN panel in a brand new Samsung tablet released in late 2023

      Shrinkflation at its finest

    • I'm pretty sure it would be an IPS TFT at least.
I can't imagine Samsung would use something worse like TN TFT.

    • IPS, TN and VA are all subsets of active matrix TFT lcds.
Its a meaningless label manufacurers or specs site people put on LCDs they dont have or dont want to guve further details on.
It basically only differentiates them from 7 segment lcd displays from calculators

  • Rookie question - is this future proofed enough to run Roblox for a while yet? Looking at xmas present for our kid but dont want to buy one if will only last a few years before it doesnt meet the minimum specs? Otherwise what else would be a good tablet for under $300?

    • +1

I've run an Aldocube for a few years with no problem. Haven't played Roblox but I've used it for web browsing, movie watching and off-road navigation and it's been pretty smooth.

Only issue is I've lost it.

Can get it off banggood for about $200 on sale.

It was an Aldocube iPlay [something]

    • +3

My son plays Roblox happily on a Lenovo M10 Plus Gen3 with the SD680, seems to run fine..

      He wouldn't know better though

  • TFT LCD for a tablet?

  • +4

Anyone else get the impression that Samsung is really holding back android tablets. These specs are something I would expect from 2019.

    • +1

Not sure if you've realised or not but Samsung, like most companies, have different models. If you want better specs pay more and get the s9!

    • +1

This is just a budget option. The S8 and S9 and plus variants are very good.

    • +1

Not sure if serious or ignorant. Samsung are one of the few companies outside china still producing android tablets with the latest chipsets, let alone providing support for them for more than a year (looking at you lenovo).

You literally looked at their povo spec tablet and assumed thats their flagship and that theyre holding out.

    • +1

Not really, Samsung seems to be the only company taking Android tablets seriously. They appear to be the only company offering various options for various budgets with long term support in the Android tablet market. Are there's any other options in the Android world if you want a premium model with 5 years of support or a cheaper model with several years of software support?

  • I ordered 1 🙏

    • Has yours been sent yet?

  • Cheapest tablet with 4G - anyone know?

  • This or lenovo m10+?

  • Is this better than the Lenovo M10 or M10 plus?

  • How much virtual ram does it have?

  • HGTNOV code works and brings it to $257 pickup

  • Lenovo and Blackview are way better than this. Also cheaper. Have both for my kids. Works perfectly and zero issues.

  • OOS now
But i got one today as pick up for Xmas gift. Thanks OP.
Its invoice wise was $277 @ Bing Lee side, was contemplating to spend $23 more to get TRS refund 🤣

  • +1

    Still says 9 in stock

  • Mine was finally marked as shipped today. So their stock must have arrived! Ordered on 30 Nov so that's almost two weeks later.
